Sorry to crash the party of Brian's friends who all wrote these glowing reviews for him. He is not professional, he is not licensed, he has no insurance and the one and only bid I got from him was $1,000.00 more than the company I hired. If you think that you are saving money by hiring someone who is uninsured, think again. When he called me to ask whether he got the job or not, I asked why he was $1,000.00 higher and he then informed me he didn't want to do the job anyway that he was taking off to go fishing in Florida for a couple of weeks. Real professional. read more

Mr. Cool installed a mini split cooling and heating system for us. He was super helpful and knows his stuff. This system is awesome and has improved our air quality and lowered our bills. read more

Brian...aka Mr. Cool....is the kind of Repairman/Company that renews my faith in the idea of honest, hard working people. We have been using him for about 5 years and he is fairly priced, extremely honest and as a bonus he is pretty funny. He is pretty much a one man show which we love since he can come to your house at 5:30 on the Friday of a 3-Day weekend to fix your air because he wants some good karma-no dispatch to argue the outrageous "after-hours" fee with. If you can get in with him your patience will be repaid 10-fold! read more

I don't typically write reviews as I find most service to be at best average, but Brian is awesome!! I originally had my A/C repaired by a different company on Monday after spending a long hot weekend without an A/C. The other company spent 15 minutes working on the unit and stated it was repaired. The said they checked the freon levels and eveything else and I was good to go. Needless to say it was not. I quickly found Mr. Cool through Yelp. I really wasn't sure if all the 5 stars could be true. I was really skeptical and thought it might be some sort of scam, but I was desperate to have air. Brian came out and did the job right. He explained to me all the issues and even showed me photos to help illustrate the issue. I am so thankful to Brian for repairing my A/C, but I am most thankful to find someone that is honest and takes pride in his work. It is so rare these days. Brian and his team are the best!!! I highly recommend them! read more

Astoundingly competent. Hard to describe how fantastic his service is. As a friend said, "Good service is so hard to find, let's make this man a sperm donor and elect him to higher office." Seriously. read more

We had reason to use Mr Cool's HVAC services again, and I'm happy to report that my rating remains unchanged. He not only fixed the problem quickly, he also stayed and explained to us how the 2-speed fan on our AC works, and how to use some unfamiliar settings on our new control unit. Thanks Mr Cool! read more

So glad that I live on the South Side. Brian was super cool and very helpful. Highly recommend his HVAC services. Thanks to the 30 yelpers that used his services before me. read more

Called on Friday afternoon when AC stops working. He fits us in same day and shows up late Friday evening! He diagnosed the issue-pointed out several other suggestions- joked with my daughter and proceeded to TRY AND CHARGE ME WAY TO LITTLE. I don't know if he's taking any new customers, but if you live southwest- I don't know why you would call anyone else. read more

Had my AC fixed within 2 hrs of my INITIAL phone call. Took him about 20 minutes total. Very reasonable charge for the service. I don't know how he could have improved on the performance. Let's keep this man in business. read more

For whatever reason, the main (electrical) breaker to my condo went out two nights ago. Pouring rain -- ZAM! -- lights out. So I spent some time yesterday getting a new breaker and a couple friends helped me put it in and Hey! It's working. Cool. Except that this morning when I woke the A/C wasn't working. Um... UT-OH. I only know enough about A/C to know that I can get hosed by some guy shows up and tells me I need a new this, a new that, blah blah. So, I get on Yelp. Amazingly, another A/C contractor on Yelp (and another with super-high ratings, too) was real busy today, couldn't come to my condo, TOLD ME TO CALL MR. COOL instead of waiting, as they knew for a fact that Brian is competent and honest. How cool is this? Answer: Very cool. So I call Mr. Cool, tell him what's shakin', he says he doesn't have a ladder high enough to get to my compressor (it's on the roof) and I said "Hey, no problem, if you can get out here I can get a ladder" and I *did* get a ladder, from a friend, and before too long here comes Mr. Cool, looking just like he does in the ad here. So if your compressor is on a roof-top you might have to get a ladder -- if he told me he needed a panda bear here to get the repairs done today, I'd have gotten a panda bear from somewheres.... He's a good diagnostician, not just a parts-changer, there were some 220 volt lines that'd somehow gotten trashed, burned through, maybe because of the power being switched on and off so many times with the bad breaker, no telling. But it's all fixed up within an hour, maybe a bit longer. Totally fair pricing, too. My condo is cool again, and the humidity out of the air. Thanx Mr. Cool! read more

Great!!! My AC was making a horrible loud noise for the past few years. I've had 3 different repairmen out to try to fix the problem but they didn't know what it was. Brian came out and almost immediately identified and fixed the problem. The previous guys had put in way too much coolant and it was stressing the compressor. No more noise. If you have a problem he's the best! And affordable too! read more

We are SO grateful to Brian for squeezing us in today as our AC stopped working last night. Left a message this morning and heard back from him before any other places I contacted. Even though they're very busy & not taking new clients, he got us an appointment. His tech came out this morning and we are back up & running & without too much damage to our wallets. Very thankful we don't have to sweat it out another night! Highly recommended & will definitely use them again if we have a problem! read more

Thanks, Mr. Cool for your quick repair for our A/C unit. And for lending us a window unit to sleep through the night! You're the best!

Thank you Mr. Cool! I read all the yelp reviews and gave Mr. Cool a call even though he's got a busy schedule. Surprisingly, he personally answered the call and quickly scheduled a time to visit my home. He is very knowledgeable and thoughtful about the right things to do for your A/C. I'm not talking about him trying to 'upsell', he truly had my interest in mind to ensure the A/C was running in top shape. He replaced my A/C coil and drip pan this morning and so glad to finally get decent relief from the heat! Thanks Brian! read more

I had an issue with heating on the weekend. I called Mr. Cool. He picked up the phone and agreed to come next morning and look at the issue, he showed up as promised and within minutes he figured out the issue. He was very polite and sincere in his work. I am very happy with his service and would recommend him very highly for any type of heating or cooling work! Thank you Mr. Cool to be so prompt! read more

My house is 4 years old and the first "major" issue i had was yesterday when the A/C stopped working. I was worried about being overcharged due to all the horror stories i heard about shady A/C repair people overcharging/misdiagnosing. MR COOL TO THE RESCUE! He diagnosed my problem over the phone for free! Being pretty handy, i was able to fix my A/C by simply replacing a fuse after he told me where to search for it. Simple fix this time... I will not go to any other A/C repair man in the future! If you want a genuine, friendly, and knowledgeable repair man, he is your man! read more

I called Mr. Cool to ask him to come over and help me install some thermostats that were giving me trouble. He said he was too busy to get over here, but then he said,"But tell me about them, maybe I can walk you through it." He took as much time as I needed to figure out what was going on and gave me ideas on how to fix the issues I was having. Super nice, super patient, and it was all over the phone. He saved me money and cost himself money. Well, kind of, he may have just gotten a customer for life even though we've never met. P.S. Everything he told me over the phone was absolutely correct, and I was up and running within 5 minutes. I figured the least I could do was write this review. read more

Yet another 5 star review. In the early morning hours of July 22nd, Sunday, 100 degrees forecasted, my a/c went out. I spent some time researching and felt confident it was the capacitor. After calling Lowe's, Home Depot, and numerous electircal supply shops in my area (Spicewood) with no luck, I didn't want to spend all day and all night in the heat. I found Brian (Mr. Cool) on Yelp and called him on a Sunday morning. He answered. Although I was way outside of his service area, he offered to sell me the part. He gave me directions to his house and I met him on Sunday morning. At his home, Brian gave me fair price for the part and some good education on how to install it myself. IT WORKED! Brian's honesty and willingness to help goes miles beyond what we tend to expect these days. Thank you, Brian! My house is cooling as I write this. You at least saved me possibly hundreds and another sleepless night. I wish you continued success in your business. Jeff read more

I'm gonna say up front: I didn't use this guy. YET. Here's what happened. When my husband and I moved in to our new (resale) house last week we learned that the master bedroom was the hottest room in the house. The rest of the house was nice and chill but the bedroom was stuffy and warm. Fans didn't do it and sleep was fitful. I called Mr. Cool to inquire about getting a separate ductless A/C in the bedroom because I'd seen them work so well for my dad (much superior to a window unit.) He said it would cost about $3800 (which is what I expected.) But when I told him why I wanted it, he said, "That's probably due to poor ductwork in your bedroom. I know a guy who might be able to help you with that for a lot less than it would cost to put in a separate ductless system." He gave me the phone number of a guy named Frank McCarthy, whom I was able to connect with the same day. He came out the following day (all the way to Driftwood, mind you) and told us he could make our bedroom the coldest room in the house for $900. Long story short his guys came out the day after that (today!) and did the work. After a couple of hours, my bedroom is now crisp and breezy! I'm reviewing Mr. Cool because he could've easily taken my money and put in a ductless system. But instead, he told me a possible way around it. This guy is honest. And as nice as the day is long. On a super busy summer day he was very patient and stopped what he was doing to talk me through it. If I ever have regular A/C issues, this is the guy I will call. He's awesome. You're welcome. read more

Brian (Mr.Cool) is honest and dependable. His biggest flaw is that he loves to talk and will spend a load of time talking to you about everything. But if that's the biggest flaw in a workman, I'll take that, esp. since he doesnt' charge by the hour. (He gives a quote and stays with it). We first had Fox come out and they told us that we needed a whole new A/C. We called Mr. Cool for a second opinion. Brian (Mr.Cool) told us that the system should be good for another few years, but that there is no guarantee. He quoted a few hundred for fixing the system (versus a couple thousand for a new system) but warned us that there is a chance that it still might break. It was a chance we would have to take. That was over four years ago and his work is still working very well. We keep our A/C around 60 degrees in the summer, so we test it to the limit. I am very, very happy with Mr. Cool! read more

Brian advised me that my city (Lakeway, TX) was not within their service area HOWEVER he had a technician close and rerouted him to help. My Cool HVAC technician was knowledgeable with good attention to detail. He repair my issue and I am pleased with the results. read more

My regular HVAC person moved out of Austin (he was awesome!) so I called Mr Cool today to take a look at my AC which is not working well (might need replacing). Some guy answered the phone (forgot his name) and unfortunately Mr Cool HVAC does not service Steiner Ranch. What I found odd was the unsolicited reason I was given: there's too many stoplights so it takes too long to get there. My impression was he seemed a bit put out by having a phone conversation with me. It would have just been better if he had said he had too many jobs or simply stated it was outside of his work area instead of going in to a detailed explanation of why. One thing that was nice was that Mr Cool HVAC did recommend another HVAC person to call (not an actual company so I'm pretty dubious and decided not to call). Bottom line my first impression was kind of bad.I found another HVAC company which is about the same distance away and services Steiner Ranch no problem. They were really professional over the phone and I got a good feeling. My suggestion is for Mr Cool to improve their handling of calls and improve their website...tparts of the site are broken/not working and I suggest they add what areas they service to save time for everyone involved. =) read more

Yes, another 5-star review for Mr Cool, he really is that cool. I reached out to him on a whim, didn't think he'd be taking new customers as I'm sure he gets oodles of calls due to his plethora of excellent reviews, but luckily we live on the same side of town and he made time to help me out. I didn't need much, just moved into a new home and wanted my HVAC system checked out - he came over a couple of days later and gave it a thorough check, and really took his time to explain to me what was what, showed me a few basic maintenance items I could take care of myself, and what to look for when it gets time to call him back. Beyond being super responsive, reliable, and knowledgeable, Brian is just one of the nicest, most personable and down to earth contractors I've met. Will definitely holler back when I need anything HVAC-related, and if you're on the west/southwest part of town, I recommend you do too! read more

So nice, my AC unit wasn't blowing cold and it turns out it required a relatively simple fix. Mr. Cool walked me through how to fix it myself on the phone rather than insisting on a paid visit. read more

Brian and Herman were incredibly responsive, fair, and competent in executing one of the solution paths I chose after they explained the options I had. In addition, they went out of their way to teach me how to take care of several things myself, both before the appointment and during the appointment. Update, Brian continues to ROCK!! He saved us on a new AC unit plus a call back to see if we were doing ok, wow, nice guy!!!!

I had inconsistent cooling across upstairs rooms on our ~4 year old home that had been present since day 1, but we just tolerated the issue. I anticipated that I likely needed some tuning or minimal repairs to ducting or dampers. Hernan came out to diagnose the problem and quickly assessed our system and began the tuning process of assorted dampers in our two story, two zone house and clearly communicated his diagnosis and fix and also gave me additional information to aid me in understanding of our system and how it works and some ongoing maintenance tips. They recommend annual check-up maintenance on home HVAC systems and for the very reasonable price of their service call, I intend to do that each spring. Highly recommended. read more

Brian is too Cool! He came by to check out my dead AC, gave me tons of great info. Had the best pricing too! Great service afterwards also.

mr. Cool is the best. So honest, knowledgable and helpful. He gave us a very competitive quote and even got our new unit installed the same day so our kids could get back in their rooms. His crew is very polite, clean and responsible. I can not recommend him enough! Great to support smaller businesses that really care. read more

Called this morning and just got done! Mr. Cool is my 3rd HVAC service provider in Austin and honestly the best....by far! Helped me out with my issues on my heater and even had the parts on hand to get me back up and running. Also, Brian gave me a tour of my system and showed me where things were out of code and needed to be addressed. No pressure to do extra jobs (up selling) just things that I need to do to make sure my AC/Heater work for years to come. In fact, he even fixed a problem caused by the last set of yahoos that worked on my system. Hernan was super helpful and friendly as well. I really appreciate the honesty and some coaching on things I never knew about my central air system. Excellent service and will definitely be calling Mr. Cool in the future! read more

Mr. Cool is NOT cool! For 4 years he has serviced our A/C unit. The first 2 were excellent, and the second 2 were completely unacceptable. The last 2 years we called and after the 3rd time he said he would call with a time to come by. He called and set up a time and I took off of work both times only to be stood up and he would not answer phone calls as to why and a possible reschedule. I was very reasonable with this and gave him the benefit of the doubt the first time. However, after 2 years in a row people need to know that your at your own risk when calling Mr. Cool. My time is very valuable to me as I'm sure his is as well, but you don't treat repeat customers this way. read more

I was out of town when my wife called to tell me our upstairs A/C unit wasn't running. Like always, I went to Yelp to find "a guy". Mr. Cool was an obvious choice, with tons of reviews and all 5 Star. He deserves them. Even though he technically wasn't taking new customers, he scheduled us in because we lived close. He then found a way to get to us even sooner. No miracles performed, but fair, honest, quick, and solid work. Can't ask for more than that. read more

I called Mr Cool on the basis of all the great reviews- I can say he is wonderful- knowledgeable, and so helpful in every way. He knows the air conditioning business inside and out. Highly recomended. read more

Mr Cool diagnosed/solved my ac problem like real engineer, instead of just selling me new ac system. (Some ac repair companies stopped by but did no measurement at all and suggest me to replace the whole system or the very expensive coil based on their "experience".)The work was done detailedly and the service is honest. I am happy to recommend. read more
