Leo saved my day. I installed a smart thermostat in my new condo and, for some reason, air blew but not cold air. Even worse, hot air. I followed the prompts, wires in the right place... nothing. Mind you, we are in Texas. It was brutal. I contacted Leo and he got back to me within half an hour. Leo mentions that he has seen the wire diagram I provided and may be able to fix over the phone (!!!!!). I go upstairs, he cross references the wiring to new wiring and BAM - fixed. I have to say as a potential home buyer Air Choice Service really took care of me and my concerns for purchasing a home. One of the major concerns is always the roof, and HVAC. Its rare to find a company willing to de a free diagnostic after calling six other companies who wanted to charge at least $120 (I understand there is cost associated to drive and pay workers). Leo, the owner and the technician, Chris, came within 24 hours of our request and gave us the straight news with no hidden agenda. Thankfully everything works fine with a minor fix. We've owned 4 houses throughout the years and have used many AC companies. Air Choice is by far the best company we've ever used. Leo the owner is super attentive, honest, and knowledgeable. Our units were over 15 years old and one of the compressors died, Leo quoted us a price for 2 brand new units over the phone. It was cheaper than the other 2 companies that came out to give us a quote. Him and the crew installed both units in under 6 hours and the price didn't change from what we discussed over the phone. In fact he gave us a discount because we went with 2 units. They setup rug savers from the door all the way upstairs so as to not dirty the house and the crew was super respectful. He even texted me later to check in and make sure everything was working good after they had left. I can't recommend Leo and his company enough! We had an issue with our A/C unit outside & it wasn't cooling the house properly during the 100°+ days. This company was able to come out next day when we were told by others that it'd be at least a week. Chris H. was great & very knowledgeable. We had a few issues with worn out parts that he replaced & it worked for a few hours, but then starting acting up again. I called & let them know & Chris H. came all the way back out that same evening at like 7p.m. to flush the lines & relieve the pressure. Amazing service. My 13 year-old unit unit needed to be replaced. Leo sent a technician (Chris) out, who was extremely courteous and helpful. He gave me all of my options, and wasn't pushy at all. We scheduled the install for a week later. They showed up 10 minutes early (seriously, how common is that with a service company?!), and the install was done within a couple hours. The guys put down drop cloths to make sure they didn't get the carpet dirty, and even painted the bottom of the A/C closet to make it look super clean and nice. I should also mention that they were the 3rd quote I received. The first tried to sell me an off brand unit for $14k, and Air Choice got me a name brand for $5600, including install, taxes and everything. I'm seriously blown away by this company. Gotta show some serious love for Leo and his team at ACS! I desperately needed a new A/C system for my home in Austin when it suddenly dies on a Sunday evening. I called and sent bids to over ten companies who advertise as 24/7, and only Leo was willing to come out free of charge to take a look. Seeing as my system was over 20 years old, I knew it was probably time to get a new one installed, however I also was hoping someone could come out and possibly perform a quick fix to help me and my family stay comfortable in the interim while I shopped out a few proposals. Leo was so kind and informative about my situation, and although he was unable to perform a short-term fix, he committed to coming out the next day, and guaranteed to have me up and running. He shared a standard pricing list that seemed reasonable from my cursory research, but honestly, I was more concerned about just having a company that would commit to getting the work done asap. The crew arrived exactly on the time Leo quoted, and they did an amazing job -- didn't make any mess at all, disposed of the old system, and had the new system running within a couple of hours. Amazing customer experience all around. To top things off, Leo called me afterwards to check in, answer any final questions, and inform me on next steps to register the A/C system warranty. I'll be the first to acknowledge that my better instincts for researching several vendors were thrown out the window due to dint of necessity and timing. That said, I feel very confident that I received great value on par with the cost, as Leo and the team lived up to their word and the work was done flawlessly. read more

Surprised to see only one other review here. I've been using these guys for the past three years - their installation sticker was on the A/C unit when I moved in so they're who I've called from the get-go. They've been great and prompt every time on calls for repairs and maintenance. I called them recently for routine maintenance/checkup and they were able to come out the same day. Awhile back I used another company just to get a different opinion/take on things... I picked one with a large number of great reviews here on Yelp. They were great and I gave them a five-star review, but I'll be sticking with Air Choice. The other folks were extremely thorough and gave me a paragraphs-long list of problems and issues that would cost thousands and thousands to fix. They were all legitimate, but I don't need a perfect system, just one that works. The guys from Air Choice have always addressed the immediate problem at a very affordable cost. They've advised the unit should be replaced, but understand and respect that I want to get the most life out of the existing unit as I can. Air Choice has been my partner in keeping that old unit running and I give them five stars for that. I should have written a review a long time ago but at least now I can write this one them based on a number of positive experiences. read more

Pros: Leo is amazing, we ended up getting a follow-up visit from him and he was clearly knowledgable and gave us solid advice on how to get the most of our HVAC at no additional cost. Cons: Chris and the other technician (not Leo) charged us nearly $400 for what ended up being just advice on how to coordinate two thermostats on an otherwise perfectly functioning split heating system. Half of it was inspection at about $150, and another $150 for a "just in case" flushing of the HVAC computer unit. There was nothing really to fix. We would have been happier (1) if the claims of no cost visit were honest - we paid $65 for service fee, which is totally fine. [In fact, we first contacted providers that did charge a service fee because we didn't understand why anyone would drive to a far location and work for free]. (2) Most importantly, we would have been happier if we were given the chance to approve any proposed "fixes" before they were done. Advice: You will get really prompt and thorough service. Just make sure you negotiate costs first or you will end up in our scenario where we expected our youngish system was ok but wanted expert opinion on the ducts and ended up paying $400 for about an hour's work. And, if possible, ask for Leo! read more

7 years ago my AC unit went out and another big name company came out- charged me a fortune to unplug my unit and tell me I needed to find a hotel (they didn't work after hours) and buy a new AC. I tried to install my nest thermostat and I got an e74 error, turns out I forgot to turn off the breaker for the furnace and shorted something. Beyond that, I didn't know what I was doing, and needed some help. Air choice was the first to respond to my yelp request, and was the most affordable option. The guys taught me about my unit, and was very professional. I got my nest and hvac up and running Un 20 minutes. The guys even tested and helped me fully set up the thermostat. A+ service! I am giving Leo five stars because this company definitely deserves it. Our concerns were tended to very quickly, they even came out to our house that same day to do a diagnostic visit. It wasn't just a diagnostic visit, he helped us get heat for the night, while we waited for our parts to be ordered. I can tell this company really cares about their customers, and they try to figure out the best solution for each person. We got a new furnace the next business day for a fantastic rate. it was installed in under two hours, and he explained everything to us. Sometimes it's hard to know when companies are genuine with their customers, but I can say that I felt they were definitely genuine with us, and wanted to help. I found Air Choice Service through a quick Google search. I sent out requests for quotes to 4 different companies and Leo (the owner) responded first, within about 10-15min. I informed him of the situation(s) I was facing with my air conditioning/thermostat and included that I only had $100 to spend until the first of the month and that I was disabled and only get $600/month (from SSDI). Before I knew it I got a call and a message from him saying "We're on our way!" I couldn't believe it. They were in south Austin and agreed to drive to north Round Rock and take care of me for $100! I am not a true believer in God, although I desperately want to/feel the need to be. I know faith can't be forced, but something put Air Choice Service and Leo into my life this evening and I am SO GRATEFUL for their service. As of now, my issue(s) seem to be resolved. I will pray tonight that tomorrow I have no problems with my A/C and everything works as it should. Leo (the owner) didn't personally come, but his Dad, Emo, did. He was very polite and very talkative when spoken to. Answered every question asked and let me and one of my roommates watch (I'm a very inquisitive person and like to learn things), even though we were kind of in his way we were so close. Came to repair a leak. Was chatting with me at 11pm the night prior per their 24/7 availability claim. Came out to fix the issue the next day. On day two the leak is still happening and now they have gone ghost on me. Not replying messages or returning calls. It was also suspicious that the supposed fix was done while I left the unit for 30 mins while they did their initial diagnosis. I chose to trust them that they did what they charged me for and now they are ignoring me. I will take it up with the Better Business Bureau as well. I also think they had some fake reviews because they had 5 when I picked them and at the time of this review they have only 2. Yelp should ban these types of companies not just delete the fake reviews. Beware of this company!!! Update: This company clearly has bad technicians. They blamed it on plumbing when the sink was running fine. A plumber did come from Texas AC and Plumbing Specialist and he agreed with me that the claims are ridiculous. He referred me to his company's AC department and they sent someone out immediately same day. The guy came and told me it was a complex job and he I saw him bust his ass to fix the issue properly. If you are reading this don't use this company. Use Texas AC and Plumbing Specialist instead. I will also be reaching out to Yelp to investigate this company's reviews if they refuse to refund me. The technician was incredibly honest, and even took the time to give me a few tips on keeping my unit in good condition in order to keep future repair costs down. I feel the need to leave a review after my questionable experience with Air Choice Service. Firstly, the owner was very prompt in responding to my messages, which I appreciated. I selected this company because they were prompt and because I was under the impression there was no service (quote) fee. We set an appointment with in the hour. The next day a technician arrived on time. He was friendly and took his time explaining things to me. He mentioned the AC could and should be sprayed with a hose periodically. He said he would do it, though I figured I could do that myself. After I brought him my garden hose, he proceed to spray it off for a few minutes while we chatted. In the end, thankfully, my AC was fine, however, I ended up being charged $200. When I asked about the first charge, $65, the technician said that the free quotes only apply when you will be contracting them for a service. Though I find that to be a bit disingenuous, I understood the charge and accepted it. However, when asked what the additional ~$125 was for, the technician did not answer my question and on the invoice under "Parts" scribbled two letters I could not make out. There was a note about spraying off the AC though I hardly believe that would cost $125, nor would I have let him do it had I known I would be charged for such a service. Regardless, I paid the bill and decided to take it up with the owner instead. Initially the owner was very quick to respond but slowly started to reduce contact. I considered letting it go, but was still quite peeved that I felt I was perhaps swindled. I continued to message the owner and he would reply stating the invoice was at the office or not yet delivered by the technician. After a few days of messaging the owner daily, the owner stated he would be refunding me $125. I was pleased with this, but still can't shake the feeling that perhaps this happens more often than I can imagine. I can't say whether it was a suspect technician, an unobservant boss, or a company rooted practice. Maybe it was just an accident. Again, the technician and the owner were pleasant and mostly (with enough pressure) responsive. I appreciate my refund, but I can't strongly recommend for or against this company. I did not receive a free estimate as promised. The technicians where here for about an hour before I was presented a bill for $185. $60 service fee and $125 for preventive maintenance. The main thing they did was clean out the over flow line with an air compressor and check the freon levels. read more

Providing a third update to ACS. They are a great company and I continue to use them for my HVAC needs. After bailing me out of a bad situation this summer with my existing unit, I knew I would eventually need a new system for my house. My ducting was also very old and deteriorating to the point I was losing most of my air in the attic. Leo and his team were able to completely replace the ducting and unit in less than a day. He sent a large team to the site to get the job done quickly. All team members were professIonal to work with. I walked around the attic to inspect the work, and it was high quality. They also cleaned up very well upon completion, which I really appreciated. Their pricing is always very competitive (I have not found better), but no need to worry that you are getting inferior quality of work. It's always professional work and when I have requested immediate help, they have been able to handle service calls on the same day on my old system.
