The long Austin heat wave rolls on accompanied by the constant drone of my air conditioner. It is not a pleasant sound. It is the sound of money hemorrhaging from my household into Reliant Energy's bottomless maw. My house had issues. Let's just say that energy efficiency and green concerns were not at the top of the list when my cookie-cutter suburban pad was thrown together. My doors: permeable. My windows: radiant. My upstairs: a sweltering hotbox fit to slow roast a brisket to perfection. And onward droned the air conditioner. Now, before we go much further, I want you to know that I am not gullible. There are no magic solutions that would turn my house into a perfectly efficient icebox. It's bloody hot out there, and the relentless sun will have its due. I'm also not a wealthy man. I would not be swayed by some silver-tongued charlatan into undertaking a massive home renovation just to save some money on my electricity bill. I was looking for quick fixes for a fair price with tangible benefits (less hot air drafting into my house and less heating of my upper story from my attic). This is where the Energy Guys came in. I chatted with the owner (Jeff) as he was working on an insulation job for one my neighbors. I hate being sold to, so I was on guard for pressure sales tactics. Jeff was reasonable, factual, and laid-back. We did a walk-through of my house and came up with list of basic fixes. Thermal imaging confirmed what I suspected. My doors were leaking due to terrible weather-stripping, my upper story was baking due to poor insulation in my attic, and my duct work was poorly sealed with precious cold air leaking into my attic. Though I have windows that are just turrible, Jeff advised me that taking a second mortgage to replace them just didn't make sense for my house and situation. I've got two kids in daycare and a prodigious appetite for fine espresso, wine, and other edibles. There's not a lot of money sitting around to plow back into my house, but the bill was reasonable. The work should qualify for rebates offsetting a big portion of the cost, but that part hasn't been done yet. Jeff and his crew were professional, skilled, easy to work with, and punctual! My upstairs feels cooler, and I can't feel hot air seeping in from my front and back doors. Even better, there are now more frequent reprieves from the droning of the air conditioner. This was my best Yelp find to date! I searched for "radiant barrier" assuming that was what we needed and Energy Guys came up, along with a few other companies as well. I had a few energy audits, quotes and opinions provided to me by the few highest Yelp reviewed companies. Ultimately we happily went with Energy Guys to do the work. We knew that our house was too hot, our A/C was working too hard and weren't sure which of the various products and services out there were going to really do much for us. Our electric company would send us fliers about how we should get radiant barrier so that was why our search started there. Jeff came out and did a very thorough and professional energy audit. I was expecting all kinds of leaks and a long list of recommendations. Instead, Jeff was honest that our builder's atrocious zoning system (aka a cheap way to have 1 A/C unit on a 2-story home) was to blame for our discomfort, A/C working overtime and high energy bills. Huh? You mean you aren't going to say I need radiant barrier, new windows/doors, an attic full of fans and you can do it all if I sell my soul to you? Nope. Not Jeff. He did say we were losing about 10-15% of our cool air from the A/C to the attic and that everything needed to be sealed and resealed in some cases. He said our insulation was about R-30 and really wasn't too bad but if we wanted it couldn't hurt to "top off" our insulation. He said given our exact situation radiant barrier wasn't actually going to do what we thought it might. Two days later on a Sunday, Jeff and another guy came out and sealed everything in the attic and got our insulation up to at least R-44. They found places that weren't even really insulated and a few cavities that weren't insulated at all. In those spots of the home I notice a dramatic difference. We can tell the house just feels cooler and the A/C doesn't turn on as often. Even given this record breaking summer we are able to keep the house more comfortable than ever before. These guys are good, had them install an entire brand new system in the house. Furnace, duct work, outside unit, extra returns...basically I got "The works" package including upgrading to a two stage unit. My only complaint is the owner was here when the city inspector came out to determine rebate status prior to the job being done, and he assured me that he would help me replace two doors in one room that needed to be fireproofed. He mentioned he'd be at Lowe's and would look and made it seem like absolutely no big deal and he'd help out. I told him i'm an extremely busy professional and don't have time to deal with that stuff, but again he assured it me would be no problem. So I accepted the job. Well his "help" turned out to giving me the phone number of a door company and told me to call them and that I would need to install them. After I cut them the check of course. Extremely misleading, but hey he got the job at least. If you do business that way and feel good about yourself then fine, I sure as hell wouldn't. All in all the workers were great, all helping each other and cleaned up each day well. The system is amazing and cools well, just don't believe them if they say they'll help you do something to get your rebate. That's on you. read more

These guys provide amazing service. After having my unit installed last year, my electric bill has gone down dramatically, and my house feels amazing. They made sure to have the vents away from the living room, so any white noise wouldn't interfere with our TV watching. Every step of the process with them was top notch and they were eager to make sure everything about the experience was great. A year later I had another plumbing company working in the attic and when they left, the AC was off and wouldn't turn back on. I messaged Jeff about it on Sunday evening, first thing Monday morning they had a guy out here who immediately diagnosed a flipped a switch. 5 minutes later it was working again and they didn't charge me a thing to come by. "What we've got here is failure to communicate." Called for information and to schedule an energy audit. Owner Jeff was helpful over the phone. Said he would research previous occupants' participation in COA rebates and send me his findings. I waited 10 days for a response and then called back. "Oh yeah, got that email right here," Jeff said. I asked for it to be forwarded to me. "Whoops, can't find it in my trash, but we'll forward it soon," he said. No problem for me, so I scheduled an appointment for his tech to come to my house. Took the morning off from work to meet tech at 8:30 AM. He never showed up. Called office at 8:45. No answer. Called again at 9:05. No answer, so I left a message. No one returned my message. That afternoon, Mike calls to say he's on his way for our afternoon appt. I explain the appt was 8:30 AM and he missed it. Mike apologizes profusely and says he wants to make it right. I mention the email that I'm still waiting for. Mike promises to track it down and call me back to reschedule the audit. That was two weeks ago. I never heard from Mike, Jeff, or anyone else at this company ever again. I have been professional and polite the entire time. Based on my experience I cannot recommend this business. If something changes I will update my review. read more

This was a pretty bad experience for us. We had the work done 2 years ago, and we regret it. 1. They convinced us to buy a proprietary system that is not compatible with any modern thermostats. Now we're suck with something we can never upgrade to a Nest, etc. 2. The work was sloppy. The worst part is that they ruined our attic. Instead of running ducts along the ceiling and corners, they just plowed through the middle of any empty space. Easier for them ... but we lost almost 700 sf of usable attic space. Just lazy work. 3. Things are breaking. 2 thermostats are dead. $600 each to replace them (see #1). That's shouldn't be happening this soon. 4. The job cost at least 2x what it should have. We could have done this for $10,000 less with anyone else. Nice guys who mean well, but don't hire them. read more

As part of the requirements for the Austin Energy solar rebates, I had to get some work done on my 30 year old house to improve its energy efficiency. The Energy Guys were recommended by the solar company that I've been working with to do the work and I have to say that I was very impressed. Daniel and Julio arrived first thing in the morning and got straight to work measuring air duct leakage for upstairs and downstairs. They worked all day to get all the ducts and AC units sealed, doors winterized, and attic insulation up to an R38 rating. They did a great job in explaining what they were doing and worked efficiently to get everything done on schedule. By the end of the day, my duct leakages went from over 25% for both floors to 7% downstairs and 3.5% upstairs. Totally worth the investment and I'm glad I got this work in before the 100 degree days are upon us this summer. read more

Big kudos and a Thank You to Jeff and his crew for running such a tight ship. I work in the construction industry so I know how these sorts of projects can go. I wanted an actual energy company to come out and evaluate my home instead of having my crews do the work because I felt like they could give me better data. Sure enough Energy Guys came out promptly and got up into my attic with an infrared device to detect the thermal energies of everything and to test to see how much leakage my units had. The good news was that my 5 year old house didn't have much leakage but the bad news is that my builder only gave me R-25 level of insulation--less than the minimum recommendation of R-30 for Texas (Region 2). I contracted to have Energy Guys fill my attic up to R-55. They ended up filling my attic up to R-60 and not only did they not charge me extra but they actually knocked over $200 off my bill as Jeff stated they didn't use as much insulation as they thought they would and he couldn't sleep at night knowing that he would have over-charged. This kind of honestly is rare and I really appreciated his ethics. I also appreciate the fact that my house now has R-60 insulation which should hopefully put some sort of dent in my energy bills. In addition the crews put tape over an exposed area of my a/c and they added insulation around my attic door so that when the attic door opens in the future a bunch of the loose insulation won't come instantly flying out. I would definitely recommend this small, local business for anybody looking to improve their energy efficiency in their home. read more

Energy Guys came recommended by a friend who had lots of great things to say about them. Pedro came to visit us and provided a thorough inspection of our current system to help us determine whether we should repair or replace. Though I was late for our appointment, he wasted no time getting to work checking the condenser on the outside of the house (instead of just waiting in the truck). His knowledge of the system, ductwork, insulation, and where to go find issues was impressive. No pushy sales pitches were given after he determined the coil had a leak, but rather he provided a conversation of options we could consider and left it up to us to decide what was best for us (read this sentence as a refreshing approach). After Pedro left, Jeff called to follow up on next steps and provide additional information. Both gentlemen were great to deal with - knowledgable, friendly, professional, and patient (patient because we asked a lot of questions before deciding to spend thousands on a repair or even more on a replacement). read more

Jeff has now worked on 3 projects for me and his crew has done an outstanding job. 2 were creating an attic access and filling the attic with insulation (yeah, the builder actually just sealed up the attic and left). The other was for a rental property and they sealed ducts, sprayed insulation, sealed the front door, and repaired collapsed duct work. This work put my rental, which is a 1953 bungalow, within COA's levels to pass an audit for the leak test. Needless to say, we've already seen a reduction in energy use at all properties and hope to have prolonged the life of our HVAC system a little. Had Energy Guys do an HVAC install almost a year ago. Fast forward to today and I'm going through the city of Austin permitting process for a remodel on my house. The building permit inspection was today and there were five punch list items. One of the dings was for a small item not to code in the HVAC closet. A+ We needed to have an energy audit done to tell me what I needed to reduce energy costs and make sure we were good to go for Solar with Austin Energy. Picked them based on their reviews on Yelp and also they were listed on the approved vendors on the Austin Energy website. Energy Guys provided a reasonable price for the work to be done, addition of insulation of the attic, sealing ducts and AC leaks and adding an attic tent. Mike was very informative and addressed all my questions. He was very prompt in replying back to my phone calls and emails. Currently in the process of getting all the AE rebates submitted. Overall I was very pleased with the work, the professionalism of the staff, and the timeliness to get the work done. Jay and Anthony were great in sealing the ducts and provided some other energy saving recommendations. I would definitely recommend them. read more

Austin Energy Guys are so nice, respectful, competent, and fast. I live in an old house built in 1950 that was not very energy efficient until Energy Guys identified and fixed several problems such as weather stripping, the need for more attic insulation, and a gap in between the wood ceiling and sheet rock that needed to be sealed around the ceiling vents. I am already noticing my home feeling cooler and the A/C running less often. Also, as a woman who owns a home, I am skeptical of working with contractors and letting them into my home. These guys were so polite and treated me with total respect. ***Extra bonus points for warning me that the vacuum cleaner was about to be turned on and asking if my dog is scared of vacuum cleaners. read more

People say that "One measure of quality is a warranty". I say that one measure of a company is how they stand behind their warranty. It has been a year since our install by Energy Guys and we have been generally pleased. A short time ago, a problem developed and we called for service. The technician who came out, also had worked on the install. Upon his inspection, he discovered a situation that might have been a problem with the install. I am here to report that there was absolutely no attempt to shirk responsibility. They owned the problem and made a permanent fix. No weasels in this company. The most impressive part of this situation is that the technician had the ability to convey technical info to a novice (Me) in a way that I completely understood. That is a gift that many technicians lack. Unfortunately, I cant seem to remember his name but Hopefully, management will see this review and include the name of the gentleman. So, if you are thinking of having Energy Guys do your install, grab the pen. They will not disappoint you in any way. read more

I have used Energy Guys twice now and I continue to be impressed with everyone I am in contact with. First I used them to up my attic insulation to R-38 and seal my ductwork when I moved into my first house. I had two other companies come out and NONE of them did as good a job inspecting my attic and duct work. Mike did a great job figuring out what worked best for me. He explained the inspection process and rebate process for the City of Austin rebates which was a HUGE savings overall. When Jay and Pedro came to do the work the even showed me where before there had been no insulation due to laziness on the part of the builder! No wonder it felt oddly warm near my front entrance. Insulation went from a low of r-10 in some spots to R-38 with extra added in case of settling. Duct leakage went from 27.8% to only 3.7% I could immediately feel the difference it made and from those changes alone I have been tracking my energy usage and despite having the AC/Heat on more over the last 8 months due to my wife staying home with our newborn I have seen roughly 10% savings. Think about that for a second: I am seeing 10% savings despite running my AC at a set temperature all day rather than letting the house warm up when no one is home. That is incredible! Most recently I had Energy Guys replace my whole AC (indoor and outdoor) as a fairly serious leak had developed in the coil and replacement R-22 is quite expensive when your AC goes out on a Sunday and you have a newborn. Trust me on that one. I had 5 companies come and quote the system and after tossing out the lowest bid who didn't want to look in the attic (still confused on that one) and the highest bid Energy Guys was right in the middle and had a more comprehensive design for the system which included adding more return air. For the Energy Guys bid, Mike came back and identified that there was a leak and gave me plenty of options. Unlike other bidders Mike did not push zoning my home even though it is a 2 story house with a single unit. After discussing my needs he recommended against the extra cost of zoning and instead offered to add return air to the office to pull heat more effectively from there He worked with me to accurately size the system for my home and even recommended a company to give me a Manual J calculation to see what size unit would really work for me to make absolutely sure I was comfortable with downsizing my unit. For anyone reading this: most home ACs are oversized and in my case by over a TON! An oversized unit 1) Costs you more to install and more to run EVERY DAY 2) Is less comfortable due to having short cycles and leaves you with a hot/cold/hot/cold feeling 3) Doesn't remove humidity from the air as well as a properly sized unit. If a contractor gives you a bid to replace with the same size they are LAZY and don't have your best interests in mind! I went from a 4 ton builder grade Lennox to a top of the line Bryant 3 ton unit and my house is MUCH more comfortable than it ever was before. Humidity stays around 40% and where formerly we would put the thermostat to 76 we now put it to 79 simply due to the unit circulating air better and controlling humidity. The unit outside is whisper quiet and Jay did a fantastic job redesigning the plenum inside to better handle the return air while fitting under my very cramped crossbeams. The whole install went great even when Jay and Pedro discovered that the unit had been put into the attic against code because it was not designed to be removed from the attic. Despite the additional time to remove the unit I was not charged extra. Jeff, the owner, stopped by to chat and look at the system and make sure the install was going to meet all the requirements. Due to the disassembly taking longer than expected as explained above they decided to stop work at 6 PM rather than push forward to finish the return airs which I didn't mind. People can only work in a hot attic so long in the summer and after a certain point you risk putting feet through ceilings due to fatigue. They came back the next business day to finish the work and I couldn't be happier with the workmanship and hard work everyone put in. They put dropcloths everywhere and even dusted off a nightstand a small amount of drywall dust had fallen on. Energy Guys will not nickel and dime you. The price they quote is the price you pay. They won't be the cheapest possible price but they will have the best solution for your needs. The workmanship is impeccable and there is a very real sense of pride you get when you talk to Jay and Pedro about the installs they have done. It is that care and determination that makes my choice for a 5 star rating an easy choice. read more

I feel like a total turd for taking so long to getting around to writing this review but better late than never right? Anyway, love love love Energy Guys. I had Mike come out last year and take a look at my ducts because we had been hearing noises for a few months and had assumed that something was lurking in our attic. Turns out, we were right. I won't go into the details but it was revolting. Nonetheless, I was half-expecting some cheesy and aggressive salesman but he turned out to be the sweetest and most informative professional we've ever had the fortune of working with. We told him how we were about to move to San Antonio and didn't want to spend a fortune doing costly renovations, we needed a really simple and affordable solution. He showed up on time, was professional, knew exactly what he was talking about, and gave us the solution and experience we needed. The only negative aspect of our experience was their crew was so booked that it took 2 weeks to start our duct replacement because they were so booked. They are a really awesome company though and I'm so glad that I waited. I did use the time to collect 2 other estimates though, and the others didn't even come close to the quality of my experience with Energy Guys. I kinda feel like I wasted my time with those other 2 appointments but glad I did my due diligence. Also, I think they may have left my home cleaner than it was when they arrived. I totally recommend them and hope you guys are lucky enough to get on their customer list. Be patient, it totally pays off. I don't usually write reviews, but I just could not be happier with my experience with Energy Guys, so I wanted to give them a quick shout out. My husband and I bought a home, and had a baby shortly after, so when my heater broke we were on a tight budget and needed immediate repairs (since it was just the coldest winter in the last 40 years and all). Nonetheless, we called three companies, Jeff (and two staff members) from Energy Guys came out and they were so nice! He completely understood that we needed immediate repairs and couldn't spend a fortune on it. (I later found out that Jeff's the owner, kuddos!) He had it fixed in less than an hour. The invoice amount was also less than half of the other two estimates that we had received. Also, the staff is SOOO professional! The two gentlemen that came out with Jeff were so friendly, clean cut and articulate- NOT at all what I was expecting. Seriously, I'm not a creeper but these guys were adorable. I also got a call from their office about a week later checking in to make sure that we were happy. They even remembered my daughters name! So awesome! Love this company! I am totally going to use them this summer for some interior improvements to balance the air between my upstairs and downstairs too. Really looking forward to working with them again! read more

You clearly stated that your company made a mistake, and you were "embarrassed", and apologized for it, but there was no way that your business was going to travel the 35min south in order to due business with me. I did return your call, the same day you left me the cancellation voicemail, and you did not answer, so I left you a voicemail too. If you really wanted to make things right, you would have attempted to call me back again. I can continue to respond, and give you poor ratings, every time you try to change the facts, but I don't believe it's in your best interests. Errrm, just read the business' reply to my review, and just as disappointed with the lack of graciousness. It's also full of holes and half-truths, unfortunately. I'm going to ignore the fact that it was a rude response and that I didn't have any problems with them until after a week long stall in the project that left me confused. 1) They didn't make it clear there was a "window" for appointments. If they had clarified that, then yes, I would totally understand. Let me quote, "Before all our appointments, we send text message reminders and/or emails with an explanation of how this sophisticated process works." I never received an email or a call about that first appointment, or second. The only email I received about an appointment is the third appointment, one that did not consult me for a show-date, just a time when the city would show up, which was no big deal. So this statement is not true. Your own best practices were not followed. 2) They never made a discount offer. The last time Mike and I spoke, he said he could ask for one, but nothing materialized. I also asked to speak to the supervisor, and no one reached out to me. It took writing a Yelp review to get their attention. 3) It's a new process w/the city - totally cool! But that's no excuse, at all, for not communicating with a client. 4) Yes, it is shady, when apparently Jeff is the business owner, and doesn't know protocols. read more

Our AC system wasn't cooling a couple of important rooms at one end of my house. Energy Guys was very thorough in diagnosing the problem and took the time to explain it and their recommended solution. They made no effort to upsale us services we didn't need. They answered all our questions. The workers arrived on time and completed the work in a thoroughly professional and friendly away, again answering all our questions. My wife and I are very happy with the outcome and with the experience of working with these folks. read more

These guys are great and know their stuff. We worked with Mike who did our initial meeting and his crew led by Pedro were prompt, professional and courteous. We improved energy efficiency by adding insulation to R-38, sealed leaks, and installed a new A/C. They make recommendations and make it easy to prioritize the things that really need to be taken care of. The end result is a more comfortable living space and a satisfied customer. They are also excellent at working with the rebate programs. Since installation was just completed the next step is to hear back from them as to when the post installation inspection will occur so we can get our rebates in motion. These guys saved our rear ends twice in two years now. Last spring at this time, we were desperately looking for someone who could examine our HVAC system and determine that damage was caused by an errant duct cleaner (name to be withheld) who caused a shower of fiberglass insulation to cover our entire home for several days. With five weeks of hotel stays, remediation, and damages, we were $22,000 in the hole, and the cleaner and his insurer refused to admit fault. Within a week, we had enough photo documentation and a detailed writeup--as well as proof that the duct cleaner snuck back into our house after being banned to try to cover the damage. The E Guys repaired all the damaged flexiduct (with all the nice fiberglass hanging out into the air vents) and sealed the system up drum-tight. Within the next week, we received a check for the full amount of cash we lost over the incident. We just brought them back to rebuild plenums (too small) to optimize the air flow inside our home. What a difference a day made! The house is SOOO much cooler, and we should be noticing a considerable decrease in our summer AC bills. The most remarkable thing you notice up front about the Energy Guys is their professionalism. These people are consummate engineers or at least highly trained in their areas. As a woman alone in my house, I do not ever feel uncomfortable around them because they are so incredibly courteous and (it does matter) well-spoken with no chewing tobacco in sight. What else can I say? Mike rocks, as do the rest of 'em. Energy Guys were the one glimmer of light that led us through a very tough time. Trust them! read more

Excellent! I contacted Energy Guys and scheduled an "Energy Efficiency Inspection". A couple days later Mike came out and did a thorough review of the whole house. He even spent extra time doing a "quick repair" in the attic where the ducts had separated (all at no charge). We reviewed his finding and recommendations and I decided to go ahead with -- Air Sealing -- Additional Attic Insulation -- Additional Air Return Vents The team that arrived were -- On time -- Polite -- Knowledgeable -- Efficient After this (very positive) experience, I decided to use Energy Guys to -- Replace old A/C Heat Pumps Again, the process was well done by everyone I encountered. And the owner, Jeff, went way above and beyond troubleshooting issues not related to their services (e.g. turned out to be a defective NEST thermostat), as well as coordinating with Austin Energy on rebates. Not trustworthy! So disappointed in Energy guys. They seemed nice at first but the second I wrote them the check they completely ghosted. Getting our rebates was like pulling teeth and took several months and way too many phone calls. Now I realize that they installed a weird size air filter that I can't get anywhere...I have called them now like 10 times because I really need an answer to a question that would take them about 2 minutes and no one will call me back. We spent like $10000 on our new system and now they can't even give me a simple answer and I'm in danger of messing up this expensive equipment. I feel used. read more

I had a complicated duct and air conditioner problem in addition to a lack of insulation in my attic. Energy Guy did a fantastic job from City of Austin Energy Audit to the final cleanup after the job was done! Every member of the crew was knowledgable, polite, helpful and respectful of my home. Special accolades to Mike, Nick, Pedro, Daniel, Julio, Jay, Raul, Noemi and Jeff. I didn't learn until he left at the end of the job, that Jeff was the owner. After complimenting the entire crew, I learned that the are all employees & and not just come and go contractors. Energy Guys as a business knows how to hire, train and treat great workers. As I looked at the boxes and tools everywhere in my garage I was afraid they wouldn't get it all cleaned up. When all was done - they worked from 8 AM to 8 PM- not a spec of debris was seen. The price was very good for the work done. Extras like moving my dryer vent and securing it, we're done cheerfully. All that and they took care off the paperwork for City rebates! My utility bills seemed pretty high so I decided to look for companies to that could help. I searched and found the Energy Guys website and saw an offer for a free energy efficiency inspection. I was skeptical because some companies charge for an inspection and others don't, and I was wondering how good a free inspection would be. I did my research and decided to give them a call. The inspection was pretty detailed and didn't take too much time. The inspector was friendly and explained the features of my house and how things work together to keep the house comfortable. It turns out my house only has four inches of insulation, hot attic air was pouring in through poorly installed light fixtures, and my weather stripping was worn out. Worse, some of the air ducts were ripped and the air conditioning was going straight into the attic! I didn't believe the severity until I went in the attic to see for myself. Talk about wasting money! The cool part is that the energy guy had a heat camera that showed all the areas that heat was entering my house. I couldn't believe the pictures, but seeing is believing. Even cooler was those same troubles area after he fixed them. The before and after shots were pretty neat. The quote for additional insulation, patching the broken ducts, sealing and weatherizing my house was pretty cheap so I opted to have all the work done. It's been about 6 weeks since then and I can honestly say that my house is cooler, the ac turns on less often, and the best part is that my current electric bill dropped by $47. I couldn't believe it! I recommend the Energy Guys because they did a good job and now I'm saving money! read more

It's hot as heck out there and my wife and I decided we weren't going to sweat through another summer in our home or pay "through the roof" to try to keep our house cool. We kind of knew what we needed already and got bids from three different contractors. The other two were nice enough guys but they did try to sell us on stuff we didn't think we needed. Jeff seemed to be the most honest and knowledgeable out of the bunch. He was also the lowest bid and he was able to get us fantastic rebates from Austin Energy and Texas Gas. Their crew of guys are all really nice too and didn't make a mess in our home. They run a good business and we were very pleased with the price and the work they did for us. Our home is now well sealed and insulated and because of that our AC system honestly runs 25% less than it did before. Excellent! read more

We called on Monday 4/28/14 and clearly told the office staff we had a fixer upper home with no HVAC and that we wanted an entirely new system put in. We were told, absolutely, a technician would meet us at 9:00 Tuesday 4/29/14. Just before the appointment we got a call saying they decided not to come. We were told they could make more money by doing repairs on other homes and that they would consider us this coming winter! You can imagine how we felt. Beware of those that make promises and then renege. Apparently, the Energy Guys will work with you only at their convenience. read more

I have been calling them over the last three weeks and never got a returned phone call! if they are still in business--- this is horrible customer service. these guys did extensive work for us a year or so ago and one of the parts they installed is coming apart. update: the manager/owner called and talked to me regarding previous post. they were having some phone/IT issues. had me call back to try and track why my call was not being logged into their system. everything was fixed and owner offered a free maintenance service. when i called to schedule the service i received the same great service that i had received previously!! thanks!! read more

You know those pushy alarm sales man that come to your door and make you regret opening the door. Well my experience with Energy Guys was the exact opposite. I met with Mike for an energy audit and he was AWESOME, super informative and not a pushy sales man at all. I decided to move forward with air seal, insulation, AC unit and solar attic fan... I cant believe the big difference these few changes made for our home. The crew was very professional. Anthony was incredible and i love that he keep open lines of communication with us through out the project to make sure we knew what was going on. Energy Guys just finished up their work insulating our attic, sealing the duct work, and generally making our home more efficient. From start to finish, the experience has been a very positive one. After getting four different estimates, Energy Guys came out a little higher than the other three, but not appreciably. What set their estimate apart was the thoroughness of their recommendations for our home. For example, we had been interested in installing a solar fan, and Energy Guys was the only company to let us know that for an attic as small as ours, even the smallest solar fan might pull conditioned air out of the house. Nick was very helpful in guiding us through the process (and the only person that came out for an estimate and asked if he should take off his shoes), and took care of filing all the necessary paperwork with Austin Energy and Texas Gas Service for rebates that the work was eligible for. The people who came to actually install the insulation and weather-seal the house were friendly and helpful. For our post-work audit from the city, there were some issues with scheduling. I understand that Nick had some car problems that morning, and we had to reschedule our appointment. That said, we were rescheduled for the next day, and received a prompt and sincere apology from Nick for our trouble. With our positive experience, should we ever need any HVAC work, Energy Guys is definitely where I will look first! read more

As others have stated, they came recommended by friends in the industry. I did my homework and got a few competing offers and ended up going with energy guys as 1) the pricing was in the same ball park as the others, 2) they added on duct sealing, and 3) they offered efficiency to help assess and prevent losses in the system. My home is 50 years old and had very little and very old cellulose insulation. I supplemented up to R38. They found a few areas that needed improvement and got the system to around 90% efficient, which was pretty shocking. All of the above aside, the part that impressed me is that they workers stayed here to make sure it was done right and didn't try to duck out early. Pretty impressive these days. I'd go with these guys again and will definitely give em a shout when it's time to replace my old 5 ton unit with a more efficient option. read more
