I think Mr. Chan's deserves a solid 3-star rating. We ordered the Pu-Pu Platter for two and a small side of crab rangoon for our first order. Overall, the food was pretty good and the quantity was more than enough for two people: - Egg Rolls (2 rolls - they were average) - Chicken Wings (maybe 8 - they were kind of funky tasting and didn't have a lot of meat on the bone) - Chicken Fingers (maybe 6 - they were bland, BUT the duck sauce that came with the order definitely saved them) - Beef Teriyaki (2 skewers - these were really good (probably our favorite part). The meat was tender, juicy and well seasoned - we wished there was more!) - Fried Shrimp (2 tempura-style shrimp - very good quality) - Boneless Spareribs (about 15 pieces - they were kind of fatty, but overall they were okay). - Crab Rangoon - 7 pieces in a small order - crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside, they were perfectly cooked. I would probably order from Mr. Chan's again - the delivery was fast and the woman who took my order was very nice. The only draw back to Mr. Chan's is the cost - our food came to about $35 with delivery fees and tip. Considering you can split an appetizer, get two entrees, and share a dessert at 99 Restaurant for the same money, your definitely spending more than your getting. We've driven by this place a bunch of times. Today we decided to eat there. The menu was huge and we each got a lunch platter. This is my second time ordering delivery from here since I moved back to the area a year ago. Both times delivery was fast and by the same polite kid that had no trouble following simple delivery instructions. I lived in Quincy for many years and a lot of the Chinese food wasn't even edible. Both times ordering here I got appetizers, rice, and this time I tried this unique shrimp dish. Very good appetizers. Chicken wings cooked perfectly. Boneless ribs large and meaty. Not a ton of fat. Ordered shrimp rangoons which were tasty with little bits of shrimp and not too much cream cheese. Good egg rolls which weren't greasy. Good chicken fingers. Ok fried shrimp. Ordered house fried rice. Cooked right. Light and fluffy but could have used a little more flavor. Don't know if it's the oil or needed salt or what. Can't put my finger on it. The shrimp dish I wouldn't order again but not due to the quality. Tons of fat fresh shrimp. Broccoli cooked perfectly. It just came with this cream sauce that was tasty, but to me it wasn't meant for shrimp. I was charged $3 for delivery and no mandatory tip like I'm reading in some reviews. Terrible customer service. I ordered food at the counter instead of at the bar so they assumed I wanted takeout. They bring me it in a bag, no problem. I start to take it out of the bag and the bartender tells me I can't eat there, even though I have ordered a drink and told him I would tip him. Incredibly rude and overpriced food. I've been going there since I was a little kid too, no leeway given despite me and my family spending a lot of money there over the years. Considering I'm not a big fan of Chinese food, I am always weary of trying new Chinese food restaurants -- both dining in and taking out. Regardless, Mr. Chan's is one of the cleanest restaurants around, has some of the nicest staff (both in the interactions I've had over the phone and in person), and tasty cuisine. The food is a little on the pricier side. However, given the quality of the establishment and quality of the ingredients, it is somewhat expected. They offer many combination plates and lunch specials, too. My favorite is the cashew chicken that comes with a choice of pork fried or regular white rice along with an "appetizer." I'm not a big fan of the appetizers, but the boneless BBQ spare ribs are pretty tasty and have a nice "sweet" glaze to them. The cashew chicken contains of white meat chicken, cashews, celery, carrots, green peppers, water chestnuts, mushrooms, and a spicy brown sauce. Typically when I request for no mushrooms, it's never a problem. The pork fried rice contains no onions, too. So if you're like me and you're not a fan of onions or mushrooms, this is the place for you. My only gripes about Mr Chan's is sometimes the pickup times are grossly underestimated. There have been times I've had to wait ten minutes or so over my quoted pickup time to pick up my meal. In the last visit, my meal was served with mushrooms. Fortunately, they were big enough I was able to pick them out, but still a minor inconvenience. Overall, if you're looking for a good Chinese food experience, give Mr. Chan's a chance as you may not be disappointed. read more

Ordered twice and regret both times. The food is good but the service absolutely sucks like 2020. Ordered first time and the delivery was an hour and 10 minutes late so we cancelled. Then I ordered for 6 pm on New Years. They ended up getting our number wrong so we didn't get a text to let us know the order was ready. I kept asking if she could check our name and she shouted at me "not until you get a text!" If you are going to be in this business you need to be calm. Wow really excellent. The place has expanded and I have yet sat down to eat. I just had take out. The food is amazing. The boneless ribs are as big and thick as bone in ribs. Not those scrawny chopped up things others serve you. The chicken wings tasty and plump. The beef terriaki juicy and large. Everything is far superior than any of the other local joints around. Mr. Chan's is my usual go-to for Chinese takeout. Most of the food is consistently good. I absolutely love the chicken wings. I admit I strongly dislike some of the chicken dishes, like General Gau's or orange flavor chicken. The quality of the chicken seems poor in these, like scraps of leftover dark meat. The interior of the restaurant is really clean, including the kitchen, although the seating doesn't look particularly inviting. Prices appear a little high, but the size of the portions seem to match. There tends to be a trend of overestimation on delivery times, like an estimate of 45 minutes to an hour turns out to be more like 30 minutes. read more

We were looking for a new place to grab take out chinese food. It was good but pricey. The restaurant itself was beautiful. Full of LED lights, mirrors and glass. We got a pupu for 2, a dinner special with Peking raviolis, hot and sour soup and a veggie soup. There was nothing different with this place compared to others....besides it being 10 dollars more expensive. The pork fried rice was plain, only pork and onions in it, no bean sprouts...which is my favorite. And every thing else was like any ordinary Chinese restaurant. We've been getting food from this restaurant for years and never had a problem. I'm not sure if they changed how they prepare the food, but it was not good. Some apps didn't even taste like they should, others were cooked too long, the chicken chow mein had no taste at all & I think paste would have had more flavor! With a beautiful renovated interior and ridiculously fresh food, Mr. Chan's hits the mark both with the eyes, then with he belly! I'd been here before for take out and i'd enjoyed what i'd got, but take out is never a good indication of how good the food is due to its deterioration in the little plastic container on the way home. Now with a completely renovated interior and expanded footprint there's plenty of seating and even enough room for a great small bar as you walk in on the right. We called ahead for reservations but the place was pretty quiet, i'm sure the minus 10 degree's temp outside kept a lot of folks at home that night however i fully expect this place to get really busy in the near future. Very friendly staff greeted us and we were seated right away. The waiter was awesome, American-Chinese guy very knowledgeable about the substantial menu and had no problem customizing some of the meals on it. Prices are very reasonable, about $15 dollars for a plate large enough for two to share (well, 2 small people, no sharing for me!) and everything from egg rolls, to boneless pork strips to chicken fingers and lo-mein's were bursting with freshness. We tried the pineapple chicken, i have to mention this as it was one of the best i've ever had, tender crisp peepers and onions in a light pineapple broth. I was there in 15 minutes, yet the food was cold and not fresh. The rice was hard, the crab rangoon was cold, and the chicken was just not tasty.
