I'll give the current service here a complete ZERO. I went in about two weeks ago to have a beer and get takeout. The bartender was hanging out in the front area, walked through a couple of times and never stopped to take an order. Waited 15 minutes and got NO service. Today I went back, one couple in the bar. The woman nodded towards me at least twice, the bartender couldn't give a sh*t. Again waited, this time for seven minutes (I checked) and was never asked for an order. For several years I've come in here every 3-4 weeks to get a beer or two and take home ($50+ with always a 30% tip on the entire tab). I don't know what his problem is, but I'll never step in again. I asked for a piece of lemon brings me a slice over to me. No toothpick on it. Guess he just picked it up and put it in the dish. Disgusting. His personality is the worst I have ever saw in my life. Food was cold. No taste. He brings one plate to me and tells me the other will be out soon. We were the only two in this place. Now, I have my dirty napkin in the plate. 12/24/22 - Golden Pacific is a Chinese restaurant I'd never pick for myself to go to, but we were invited out by friends and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. So much so, that my family went again. The service was great. Chinese food normally comes out at a reasonable time, but this was XMAS eve. Busy, but service was great still. On any other day you shouldn't have a problem. Added to the take out orders they have, your sure to be fed promptly. The employees are pleasant and knowledgeable with their menu. The food is a great value. The restaurant is a comfortable environment. There are TV's so you'll be able to catch the game. I want to also mention, that there should be more attention to the restrooms to make sure there is tissue in the bathroom for their customers at all time. And the two times I went, the ladies room door lock was broke. I had to guard the restroom for my friend to use. Let me mention a negative. I don't think they cleaned the serving trays properly. Look at my pictures. That night there were tiny pieces of ribs and it's oil under our Crab Rangoon. The trays looked spotty. Other then the dumplings not being cooked fully, we enjoyed. I went to Golden Pacific on New Year's Eve. It was my first time ordering. I ordered on-line the night before. I requested a 6:30 pm pickup. I arrived at the restaurant and there was a line. It took about 15 minutes. The food was delicious. I ordered 2 pupu platters, lobster sauce w shrimp, Singapore noodles, shrimp fried rice, spicy green beans and egg foo young. Found a nice surprise on the LAST bite of my hot and sour soup! Lucky me, a fingernail! Guess what happened when I presented this to the restaurant? They gave me a 3 dollar refund on a 15 dollar order. I have been a regular here for the past 4 years since I moved to Holbrook. Incredibly disappointing. Finally had a sit-down dinner here at Golden Pacific. Service was exceptionally quick. Literally ordered our food and it was out and served to our table no longer than 5 minutes later. Absolutely amazing! Dining room was empty as per usual. My brother ordered a Mai Tai and woah-boy!!! was it strong! Had just a sip and it burned the whole way down. Jeezzz. I know where to come if I ever need a strong, CHEAP drink! Prices are very reasonable, couldn't have been more than $25 for 3 of us to eat huge dinners. Nice touch at the end, they give you a little dish of cubed pineapple pieces to cleanse the palate. And of course, fortune cookies to break apart and forsee our mystical futures! This place has been under new management for about a year now. What an amazing change. First off, parking is great. It's a big huge lot with a CVS, a liquor store, pizza joint etc. I've ordered pick-up, got delivery and have eaten inside. Always so quick! I personally have never waited longer than 10 minutes even after ordering a bunch of food. Always piping hot and delicious!!! The chicken wings are HUGE! Crunchy on the outside and moist and tasty on the inside. The crab rangoon is cooked perfectly and some of the best i've had. Chicken teriyaki......what can i say. My mouth is salivating just thinking about them. Veggi fried rice is full of onions, green peppers, sliced carrots and mushrooms. The only thing i wish they had in it is water chestnuts. I always add them to it when i get take-out. The guy at the front desk is always so polite and always smiling even when you can tell he's pretty busy. The dining area is kept pretty clean and it's lit perfectly. Not to dark not to light. The bar area is pretty divey which i love! Everyone is wicked friendly even when your a stranger. Bartenders always working hard and will put whatever sports game you request on one of the TV's. Also they don't skimp on the alcohol in the drinks. Score!!!! Let me preface this by saying that I am only reviewing this place as a Bar, NOT a Restaurant. In the 25 years I've been going there, I've only seen people on the Restaurant side, like 4 times. As far as a Bar goes...it's a dump. Nasty bathrooms and an overall lack of anything remotely resembling a nice place. Zero effort put into keeping it clean and modern. The Staff are hit or miss. Some are great, others are not. Unfortunately Qi doesn't work there anymore. The clientele are the only reason that I give it a 3 star rating. 80% of them are great people, and make it worth going there. Golden Pacific is Back!! Use to be my go to Chinese food spot about 25yrs ago but then it's changed hands a few times. After years of mediocrity it's back to being a great place for Chinese food. Right from very moment you enter you start to think twice about this place... There is a bell that you need to ring for service, just to be seated... Ordered the hot and sour soup and it was hot alright, but definitely not sour and the soup seemed like a jello. Also ordered the generals chicken and it wasn't any better. It usually is a go to food for Chinese restaurants but this was just disappointing, you could tell they wanted the portion to look like more when I was biting into hard crunchy bites of batter with no chicken inside... And when I did finally find a piece of chicken the tendons were so tough I ended up spitting it back out anyways. The sauce of the chicken leaves this annoying chalking feeling on your teeth... Waitress was unimpressive, forgot to give us utensils, and was too busy taking care of take out customers and ignoring who was in the dining room. If you get motion sickness beware, this place has these really annoying lights above the tables that change colors to trip you out because the food is so terrible... My all time favorite chinese food place. Maybe it's because I grew up around this place and got accustomed to how chinese food should taste here...but still it's great! It's a nature vs nurture kinda dealy. FAST service, you can order any meal and it seems like it's done in 5 minutes. They do delivery and have a great restaurant section with a new plasma tv. They always have the game on. They have a bar section that is separate from the dining area by a wall so there's barely any noise from over there. Great scorpion bowls I'm told! The prices are average suburban chinese food place prices. But a little on the cheaper side. The crab rangoons here are my favorite, and sometimes I can order a large just for myself. And just shower myself in cream-cheasy crab And now there is a new very cute chinese girl that works here covering shifts at the front desk (better come here while she's still there) and I am going to ask her to marry me and fly away into the sunset together on magic oriental carpets. read more
