Every item that I ordered was grossly overcooked. Except for the crab rangoon, which was undercooked. The pork fried rice is obviously made with rice and pork from 3 to 4 days ago. Dry bland and overcooked, just about everything. When I call back, the man who answered the phone, told me to bring it in and he would refund me my money and hung up on me. read more

I always relish the food, especially the rice. The all-day special C is the best. It's fully cooked and delicious, even the day after. The owner is also very friendly. read more

I found this place on my own when I moved close-by. After probably forty orders, I still recommend this restaurant to my friends. The food is always fresh, the fried foods are always tender and (My favorite) egg foo yung is right on-point! Only once was it less-than-satisfactory when I walked in at closing time. The counter staff is VERY pleasant. The portions are large. The dishes are wonderful. I'll always be a regular here. No place else I can go to get a combo with lo mein, egg fo yung, chicken (or beef) teriyaki and a great egg roll for ONLY $14.00. This is more of a take-out, although there are two dining tables. There is both a liquor store and a Stop+Shop in the same mall for extra convenience. Tires, too! read more

Golden Crown - Boneless Spareribs General Gau's Chicken - Chinese Near Me - Braintree, Massachusetts

This review applies for VEGANS. I ordered tofu with veggies and Chinese Vegetables with rice $21 I requested no MSG and they nicely did not put any MSG. But every thing was extremely unmemorable. No flavour what so ever! Their was some sort of black sauce all over every thing. It was not sweet it was not salty. Basically it had no taste or flavor. And their were no Chinese vegetables. It was just regular broccoli , carrots and snow peas. So I don't understand why the menu option says Chinese vegetables. The tofu was raw. All I can say this place is for those that enjoy meat and standard American Chinese fast food. Not for me. I will say the attendant or owner was friendly. This is one of those walk up order at the counter and take away or sit at a few of the booths but every thing will be in take away containers I wish we had these style Chinese Shops on the west coast.. read more

The absolute best Chinese food. Fresh, great portions and overall great food that part guests will comment on the greatness.

This was my number one favorite place for YEARS. Never had any issues or problems. But they must have changed the oil or something because the last two times I've gotten the food, I've had the worst heartburn ever, and I never get heartburn (and boy do I hope it stays that way!) I really hope they change back to whatever they used to do so I can go back to ordering my usual! I miss it! read more

I was not fair in the number of stars I gave in my previous review. It is good, not just ok; strictly a take out place as there's only two booths though they are generally free. I still love the Teriyaki beef and spicy chicken wings. The Peking Ravioli are a bit too doughy for me. I am a bit dubious of the processing of the chicken fingers, they have a fair amount of excess oil present. Maybe a quick spin in a small centrifuge and maybe replace the oil a little more often. read more

Many Soups, appetizers and entrees are tasty in small & large orders. Singapore Noodles are yummy

The chicken wings were cooked to perfection and the pork fried rice was the best this side of Chinatown

I am so sad to see this local and great Chinese restaurant have three stars here on Yelp when it is definitely worth more than three stars in my book. A place that was recommended to me from my former manager and we ordered here last year for New Year's Eve and it was nothing but the best. This year we decided to order the next day on New Year's Day and it still was fabulous. When you walk in it is a small restaurant with only a few tables to dine so we always order out delivery or pick up depending on your ZIP Code. We love their Pu Pu platter for two; which offers lots of variety, freshness of food, & taste that pair well with a sweet riesling or any type of white wine of your choice. Don't let the three star reviews (or lower) deter you from this amazing & local Chinese restaurant. I promise you should try it because who knows you may end up loving it just like we do. read more

I went here for the second time last night since I loved my takeout from them the first time. I ordered vegetable fried rice. The menu says you can order any rice with sub gum so that's how I asked for it. I was really excited when I saw that option. Immediately the guy taking my order made a face as if he just ate something horrible. Was I not supposed to order something like that even though it gives you that option on the menu? It made me uncomfortable to say the least. I also ordered chicken wings, chicken fingers and beef teriyaki. I sat in one of the 3 booths they have and waited. It's a small place. Mainly for takeout. I didn't wait to long before my food was done. I'll start with the positive: chicken wings are good. Crunchy on the outside just like I like and meaty on the inside. The beef teriyaki was thick, huge and delicious. Not chewy or over cooked. The last time I was there, see photos posted, I loved the chicken, onions, green peppers and celery. Also, their crab rangoon was filled pretty good with a nice crunchy shell. Negatives were the chicken fingers. Eek! I bit into one and could not even chew the chicken. I actually looked at it to see if it was actually chicken because it was so rubbery. Tried a second one and it was ok. Tried a third and the same rubbery "chicken" was inside. I ended up throwing them away. The rice wasn't anything special. It did have water chestnuts in it which I love but there was no great flavor to it and I think ordering it Sub gum style didn't make any difference. All in all I have had way better experiences at other Chinese places. And to the guy who took my order, let me give you a tip. Try not to make faces at what people order! read more

Food was undercooked, rice was clumped together. Thats after he hung up on me multiple times so I had to go to the store and order then wait 25 minutes. read more

Best crab Rangoon in all of Massachusetts. Perfectly crispy and sweet. Amazing management and staff. Delicious.

Quality of food has decreased. Boneless spare ribs were tough & burnt. The texture was like beef jerky. The chicken in the combo meal was terrible as well. When I returned with my unfinished meal the person behind the counter yelled at me & said ' no money back. ' He ultimately replaced some of the spare ribs when I said I would never return again. rating is a 1. read more

The guy who works the front can be very rude on the phone but besides that..... I ordered over $70 worth of food and honestly was pretty disappointed. Highlights... the crab rangoons are awesome here and a large order is $14 but comes about a dz to an order. Boneless spare ribs were dry, the spring rolls were insanely greasy and they forgot to give us rice to go with our entree general Goa's chicken when cleared on the menu it says it comes with white or fried rice. Super disappointed overall. read more

had the food at a Christmas party and thought it was very good then I got some today , 3 months later and it had to be the worst taste and food I ever ate. anything cooked in oil tasted like it had a burnt flavor to it and when I called them up to tell him all that food that was cooked in oil was bad and had a burnt flavor to it. He's like oh well and hung up on me so I guess they'll be the last time I'll ever go to that place again and I went out of my way to get it, so I'll never go there again. read more

Nothing special here in this hole-in-the-wall I found on my lunch break today that is in a strip mall with about 10 other stores. I ordered the pepper steak with pork fried rice and crab rangoons. The rangoons were greasy and fell apart easily upon biting down on them. The duck sauce was standard and fine as a dipping sauce. The steak showed a little red, so it was barely cooked since it was already razor thin. It was tender but this still scared me a bit. We're not talking about month aged porterhouse here from a high end steakhouse that you can order rare and not really worry about.....this is lower quality beef that should be at least cooked to medium, if not medium well. The pork fried rice had some burnt pieces of pork in it, although it wasn't overly greasy. The dish in general had too much goopy sauce, little flavor and either burnt pieces or undercooked pieces of meat. Not anywhere close to my expectations. I don't know if I'll be back, even at $8 or so it wasn't a great deal for the quality I received. read more

Generic. I ordered the #6. Sweet and Sour Chicken w. Pork fried rice. My appetizer was chicken teriyaki. The other review about the BPA styrofoam was super accurate. The heat melted a bit of the sides; leaching into the food. I ate 'here' too. Styrofoam and plastic forks. The chicken was okay, but the fried rice and the fried breading on the s&s chicken had the distinct smell/flavor of old fry oil. If they kept the oil fresh, the food would be much better. read more

Just temporarily moved to the area. Unfortunately, the worst I've ever had. However I partially blame my selections. The Kung pao shrimp was terrible - just a bunch of cut up celery, uncleaned shrimp (still contains the vein), and sprinkled peanuts from a jar. The crab Rangoon was CRABLESS. Only decent thing was the rice, but how do u mess up rice? Boneless spare ribs were chewy probably because the fat wasnt trimmed. read more

Awesome down and dirty largely Cantonese style Chinese Food. The employees are very willing to customize ingredients in any dish to your liking (e.g. No mushrooms or onions) and very accurate at ensuring the food is actually prepared as requested. Of all the take-out Chinese restaurant in the Braintree area Golden Crown is probably the best. Their Sesame Chicken and Orange Chicken are top notch, better than all the others in the area. They do a great job with every other item I've tried there as well. read more

Very reliable for American Chinese. The wife, being Chinese herself and having worked in an "American" Chinese restaurant for most of her younger life can be a tad picky about her takeout food. Phonger approved: Bone-in ribs Beef Chow Foon, dry-fried Ma Po tofu I dig everything, but I can say that about most restaurants. The delivery is super fast if you live in the area. read more

Went to the Golden Crown today on New Years Eve. Called at 4:30 and was told order would be ready at 8:30, but because of the upcoming holiday, found that understandable. Was hoping the food would be worth the wait, and sadly that was not the case. The General Gao's chicken, had zero flavor, was over cooked, and consisted mostly of batter with a hint of chicken. This batter vs meat filling was a consistent theme, as the chicken in the chicken fingers and the shrimp in the fried shrimp were nearly impossible to find. All in all, I would take a pass on this restaurant unless all the other Chinese restaurants in the area all go out of business first. read more

Moved here from Boston, this place rivals some of best in terms is quality, flavor, and freshness. Does not feel like your average Chinese food joint, based on the food it feels more like home cooking. Bomb.com !!! :-) read more

2.5 Stars Too tired to cook last night so tried Golden Crown take out. Shared general's chicken and szechuan beef and had the spring rolls for an appetizer. The szechuan beef was great! Nice amount of spice, tender beef and a nice mix of veggies. The general's chicken was kind of dry and could have had more spice. Didn't even save the leftovers. The spring rolls were wrapped a little loose and on the extra greasy side. The szechuan beef was so good that I'll try this place again. Maybe an off night on the general's chicken... read more

This was my favorite Chinese food until today. Lately the food hasn't been that good. I have given them 3 tries in the last 3 months. Each time the food gets worst. The food is Subpar at best now. Chicken wasn't fully cooked again, rice was dry and bland again oh and the boneless ribs and teriyaki should be sold as a dog chew. The food and service suck now. NEVER ORDERING FROM THEM AGAIN !! I ordered some food which included "spicy chicken wings" as I bit into my 3 wing which wasn't spicy at all !!! I found a hair not just a chicken wing hair an long black/light brown hair after spitting the food out if my mouth I called immediately !!! No one could understand what I was saying and after talking to the owner he sent out a driver to bring me back my money. The driver came and I invited him in to see what I was talking about he claim not to be able to see the very visible hair he start to yell at me in front of my 4 year old and call me very bad because all I wanted is for him to take the food back and give me my money he yelled for about 5 mins !!!! Love this place. Crazy cheap prices and always hot and fresh. Friendly staff. Fantastic potstickers!

When we first moved in the area loved this place, I don't know what happened but the pork is so fatty I can't eat it, used to get pork lo mein can't eat it, tried a few other things and it's useless, my husband could live on Chinese food so I was at a loss as they were the closest to us, finally had to reach out to others to see where they got theirs, had to tell him I wasn't eating this anymore. Too bad as it is so handy so we're on our quest to find a new Chinese take out read more

Got take out Chinese Food in Braintree. Small place by Stop and Shop. First two items horrible. I sure hope they didn't mess up fried rice and chicken chow main. I should have gone to China Plaza in Rockland. What a waste for $8. Yup, fried rice disgusting too. I want to return it all, tell them it's horrible and get my money back. My fault that I took a chance today. Live and learn. read more

Good food, good prices, good portions. It is what it is... A small Chinese takeout joint that will scratch your itch. Standard combo platters with standard appetizers, PFR us good as well. read more

Hot food is placed directly onto styrofoam package containers which allows the food to directly absorb the chemicals/BPA. We purposely ordered items that typically come in paper box and did not order a mixed meal to avoid this problem. Our fault for not first inquiring about the use of styrofoam. This ruined my order. I did eat from the middle that had not touched the styrofoam and found the low mein to be extremely salty and the sesame chicken would have been average to good if it had not been touched by the styrofoam. The customer service was not friendly and did not help my overall rating. read more

Ordered a simple sesame chicken. Gave me food poisoning that took me out of commission for two days. I would never eat here again.

After two years of living out here I still love this place ... The Chinese that I order is the typical lo mein, spare ribs, wings, and rice. While I have not tried anything else, I have had great experiences with my food. It is very difficult to find good Chinese food in the suburbs... So I am happy that they are out here. read more
