    Szechuan spicy chicken combo
    Wes S.

Japanese katsu curry item was in the rice plate category--there was no rice. Thinnest curry sauce if any. Potatoes were not cooked through. Hard. Katsu wasn't that bad but it's a katsu curry rice plate that had no rice and terrible curry. Szechuan spicy chicken. Sauce was so thin. Bland. Barely tasted anything but steamed chicken. No spice at all. Pork fried rice was just rice with a splash of soy. Maybe a nugget of pork fat. No flavor, no onion or anything to give it an ounce of food flavor. Terrible food tonight. Wish I had ordered a tv dinner over this meal. No one was trying tonight for their 9pm take out crowd. Crab Rangoon was just okay. Sadly the better part of the disappointing meal. If their sauces and curry had a boost it would've meant the world to me! Way to give just 12% to the meal effort. I have liked other options there so I'm willing to try again on things they can actually do. They clearly need to put in more effort and research into making the things on their menu that most Chinese take out places don't do. That's why I was intrigued. But you should stick to the normal east coast Chinese take out here as they miss the mark on the interesting items

    Ughh!!! yuck

Food tasted like dish washing soap or cleaning product. The food was bland , the chicken wings and ribs were tough and rubbery under cooked . I ordered from Uber Eats and was blindsided ewww!! Wouldn't recommend..

I love good Chinese food - having eaten it for more than 4 decades. This wasn't good, in fact it was barely edible. Everything was just dumped together in the box, the pork fried rice was dry, the beef teriyaki was tough, and don't even get me started on the General Gau's Chicken. The only decent item was the crab rangoons. I ordered through a delivery app, the driver was very good, wish I could say the same about my meal. I realize that I paid more to have it delivered than if I had picked it up, but dang - that was a waste of $30. This should be a miss!

Sweet and Sour Chicken that was just fingers with sweet sauce from a jar, dry rice and old ribs

I should have learnt from the reviews that are posted, but no I decided to give this place a try. The food was old and tasted over cooked. The skin on the chicken wings were like rubber. The rice was dry and the meat was disgusting. Never again. You would come out better buying the ingredients and cooking it yourself. At least you will know it is fresh.

We walked into a cozy, compact space with a traditional ramen shop feel, the kind of place where the smaller layout gives it a more intimate atmosphere. The interior is warm and functional, with a counter and a few tables that make it a comfortable stop for a warm meal, though seating can be limited during busier times. The energy stays focused and efficient, fitting the style of a neighborhood ramen spot. The ramen is the main reason to visit. The menu offers a variety of broths and styles, including tonkotsu, miso, shoyu, and spicy options. We ordered the spicy miso ramen and found it had a good balance of heat and flavor without being overwhelming, with the broth rich enough to carry the noodles and toppings without becoming too heavy. The noodles had a nice texture, and the bowls felt satisfying, especially on a colder day. The toppings, including pork belly and other additions, helped add more depth to the meal, with the chashu tender and well seasoned and the soft-boiled egg cooked to that perfect jammy consistency. The appetizers are also worth trying. Items like karaage, takoyaki, and gyoza pair well with the ramen and make the meal feel more complete, and we appreciated that the menu has enough variety for a quick ramen stop or a longer meal where you want to try multiple dishes. One thing to keep in mind is that Tora Ramen is cash only, so it is worth planning ahead before visiting. There is an ATM nearby, but it can be inconvenient if you are not expecting it. The restaurant is also fairly small, so there may be a wait during peak hours, though the turnover is usually reasonable and the staff handle the flow efficiently. Tora Ramen is a solid spot for ramen in Chinatown. The cozy atmosphere, flavorful bowls, and casual experience make it a good choice when you are craving a comforting meal. The cash-only setup and limited seating are small drawbacks, but the quality of the ramen makes it worth visiting for a warm, satisfying bowl in a no-fuss setting.

The inside of Hakata Ramen is tight and can get pretty busy, but the vibe is what you'd expect for the area. The staff is honestly the best part. They are welcoming and move fast. I have been here a handful of times and it is a reliable choice for comfort food. They have these daily bento specials with ramen, sushi, and appetizers that look like a great deal. I tried, but they are intriguing. The main downside is the broth quality compared to the price. There are definitely more authentic ramen spots in the city if you are a purist. You can tell the base is not a homemade tonkatsu broth, which is a bit of a letdown for what they charge. Still, it is a decent spot for a quick meal. * Tempura Ramen (7/10): The tempura is a total highlight because it is served on a separate plate to keep it from getting soggy, though the broth itself is fairly standard. Swung by this place on a weekday for lunch to avoid the rush - most weekends I pass by this place and the line wraps around the street! My friend and I stepped in and were immediately greeted with a sour attitude. We were confused on the menu whether our ramen included chili oil or not, and the staff did not help explain anything and just quickly dismissed our questions to get us to order quicker. Once we sat down, the food was done relatively quickly. However I was very surprised on what we had gotten. Now I admit - I am not a vegetarian. However, I have enjoyed many vegetarian meals and this was quite upsetting. We both got the garlic miso ramen. The ramen was not temperature hot at all. The chili oil was not flavorful. The "soy meat" was simply just mushed tofu with awful texture, and it soaked into the soup and created a pretty unpleasant texture (I took a picture which makes me sad and unappetized). I was unable to finish my bowl. The food combined with the service made for a pretty negative time for me. I really wanted to love it - a place with a full vegetarian menu is amazing for all my friends who have that restriction! Maybe if they tried pan frying the tofu create a better textural experience? I will not plan to come back, and will highly recommend you go to any other restaurant in Back Bay.
