They gave me a call roughly an hour before they came so we could prep for them and didn't complain at all when they couldn't get their truck up our steep driveway(not their fault, it's a VERY steep driveway and a VERY big truck). They were quick, prompt, professional, and very friendly. They also were quick to adapt when there was a last minute change in where we were going to meet and were easy to communicate with both via yelp and phone. 10/10, would and will be using these guys again in the future and would recommend them to anyone looking for movers; especially up here on the mountain.

Based on reviews, I trusted. Initially, movers were to be there between 12:00pm and 12:30pm. Once they were late I called and was told that they got tied up on the move before mine and were running late. Ok. Things happen and that's reasonable. But was still assured not to worry. They eventually arrived at 8PM. Now I was worried. Towards the end of loading (which I and my son helped with, even though we were paying for it), I was told that they could hold my stuff overnight and deliver first thing in the morning since it was already 10:45PM. I knew I should've trusted my gut. All in all, I was quoted initially $1,000 and ended up paying just shy of $2,000 (including tips for the movers who were very good) Not vacating the property cost me another $500 because my escrow contract dictated a $500 penalty per day. Peter assured me not to worry. Two dining room chairs were broken by one of the movers. That's ok, these things happen especially during a household move. My calls and voicemails to Peter were never returned on how I can file a claim. Well, I guess I have to eat that cost as well. Lessons for others: 1) Don't accept or agree to an afternoon move. Try for a morning one. So in case you want your washer and dryer hooked up, fridges, etc. All these ancillary items will push back the afternoon appointments. 2) Understand the difference between binding and non-binding estimates. 3) Review the option for insurance and also consider third party insurance The good part about this were the actual movers. These guys all hustled. Carlos (seemed to be the supervisor of the other 3 guys) was awesome. Nothing but kudos to the guys that did the actual heavy lifting and moving.

The process was incredibly easy, especially considering that I am located in Boston, Massachusetts. Using the online portal made the reservation process simple, and the upfront payment system was straightforward and convenient. On the Sunday prior to my move, I received a confirmation call from Steve, who was a wealth of knowledge. He provided helpful information about cross-state moving and answered several other moving-related questions I had. Speaking with him reassured me that he was not only a knowledgeable mover but also someone dedicated to providing excellent customer service. That commitment showed on moving day. My movers arrived 15 minutes early, worked diligently and efficiently for my scheduled 1.15 min move, and were extremely helpful. They even assisted with taking items to the nearby Salvation Army, which Steve had previously provided information about in case I needed to donate anything. Overall, I had a great experience with Dirt Cheap Movers. If you're looking for a dependable, reliable, and honest moving company with reasonable rates, I highly recommend them. They also provide moving services across the U.S., which is an added bonus. Thank you, Steve and the DCM team, for making what could have been a stressful moving process such an easy and positive experience! .

Due to delays in closing the house, we had to cancel the movers we had scheduled and scramble to find last minute movers. Since we had used 24/7 moving in the past, and they still had a pretty good rate, we booked them again for this next move. Thank goodness for their flexibility! However, on the day of the move, the movers showed up 1.5 hours late. We didn't get a call or anything with any updates about this delay, so that was unprofessional. It ended up working out because my boyfriend noticed a spill in the storage unit, so he had time to clean up before the movers came. Movers for the most part worked pretty fast, and they were nice. The unloading to the house took less than 30 minutes. However, we did notice some of our items were broken (the back of the dresser was chipped). After these two experiences with this company, I'm not sure if I would recommend them if you have other options. Addendum: received some unkind messages from the manager claiming I had lied about the situation. I do acknowledge that Jay had told me back in November that the movers needed to come at noon because they they had a morning appointment, but this was for our first move on 11/19. For the 12/11 move, I didn't receive any notice that the movers could be late, and I was told that the service fee could not be waived (we did pay the additional $50 fee on top of the hourly rate as indicated in the screenshot). After speaking with Jay today, it looks like the service fee was supposed to be added on top of the $50 travel fee. I did my due diligence to estimate the quote in writing, and also briefly spoke to a gentleman over the phone a few days before the move to confirm the rate. I didn't get any notification in writing or over the phone that the estimated cost I thought I was supposed to pay was incorrect. This was a misunderstanding on my part. In the future, I would recommend better communication when movers are running late (a simple call 30 mins in advance would suffice) and better communication regarding estimated costs for moving.
