A very disappointing afternoon tea experience. Three friends and I had afternoon tea to celebrate a special occasion and while the company was great, the afternoon tea and service was very disappointing. My main complaint was the standard of the food. The deserts were good and the gentleman's option, which one of us went for, was also ok. But overall, the menu descriptions were misleading, with things missing. For example what was described on the menu as beetroot and baba ganoush open sandwich came out as some small cubes of tasteless beetroot (tasted like the cheapest of jarred beetroot) between two slices of tasteless dry white bread. Absolutely awful! A baileys coffee came with cream that must have been gone off, as it smelt and tasted rancid. The second issue was the fact that we weren't served what we had asked for. They seem to cater for different diets, which was a big draw as one of the party is coeliac and one is vegetarian. But when the gluten free option came, it had different things on it then described on the menu, the waitress couldn't be sure that it was gluten free, and it had to be sent back. They offer 4 different afternoon tea menus. Two of us asked for things to be substituted, i.e. if we could swap out one sandwich for a sandwich from one of the other menus. So in fairness, this made the order trickier to manage, but the waitress said that it could be accommodated. But instead of the alternatives we had asked for we were just given two of one of the other sandwiches. The third issue was the service. The service was slow overall despite the fact that there seemed to be enough staff to manage the numbers in the restaurant. While the waitress was accommodating overall (for example taking the gone off baileys coffee back), we had to ask for things twice, and were brought the wrong wine (which was poured into the glass without a pause to check the label or offer us a taste). By the end we were embarrassed at having to re-ask for so many things, that we just let things slide. but at that point we were embarrassed asking her to change. The décor and space are lovely, but the standard of food and service really let the experience down. I would strongly recommend anyone considering an afternoon tea experience to go elsewhere. read more

Nice bar at the hotel. Interior was chic, inviting and warm. Would go back for a cocktail or a pint any time.

A lovely unusual hotel. The décor seemed a little dark but very nice nonetheless. The rooms have a modern feel and the best part was the large bathtub. Tall people will love it! I also love the breakfast in the dining room in the morning. The waiter was funny and delightful. He was also attentive and remembered what I liked each day. As hotels go, the Morrison is pretty cool - it was designed by John Rocha of course. I've never stayed here but I once went to a 30th birthday in The Cafe Bar and it was a great venue. Fantastic atmosphere. The bartender was rushed off his feet but he didn't object when my friend and I ordered cocktails that required him to manually crush berries. That's service for you! The Morrison is also a lovely place to read the Sunday papers over a coffee or a glass of wine. I did the latter one afternoon with a mate of mine and it was bliss. I plan to go back and do the same some day soon. read more

This is a really nice hotel directly across the river from Temple Bar. You can walk to anywhere in the city from here. It has a brilliant decor and right away when you get here will see why it is a four star hotel. The staff are lovely and they have a good selection of drinks and liqueurs at the bar. read more

Very good hotel. The rooms are perfect in term of size, cleanness and modernness. Internet is fast. Location is close to everything.

Nice place, pretty room very contemporary looking. I will say that I never found the knob to drain my sink, so everything just collected for the one day that I was there. It does drive me up the wall to have to figure out a multitude of switches--I'm sorry some things should just be obvious and require no thought. read more

Stayed September 3 after a long flight from US west coast. The staff was as nice and accommodating as possible. Seems like it might be a newer hotel that is putting out a strong effort to distinguish itself for good and personnel service. While the rooms were typical workmanlike and clean Hiltn rooms, the staff, from the concierge to everyone in the restautant made us feel like we were in a Four Seasons hotel. Excellent location. Good food in hotel and very close to the Temple Bar arrea. Overall, iI'd highly recommend when you are in Dublin. read more

We just arrived today but so far the impression is very good indeed. We arrived mid-morning and understood our room was not ready--directed to tea in the breakfast room--spacious and inviting and no charge for the tea. The room is large and very comfortable. Terrific location-- a short walk to the Cathedral and Dublinia (which we also really recommend for those looking to learn a little Viking and medieval history in a friendly (including kid-friendly but you don't need to be a kid) way. Drinks and dinner were also excellent. Staff very friendly and on the whole a very inviting place. read more

Fabulous place all together!! We had a weekend break here and I have to say I could not fault anything, room was huge and stylish with a huge tub and shower, the staff were friendly, the bar was classy and the food was lovely. It is not cheap to stay but well worth a treat! read more

Very disappointed. Room was beautiful but swelteringly hot. I had planned a relaxing evening with my son while my husband attended a work event nearby. Instead, we sweated in misery all night. The staff tried to help but the temperature did not drop until the thermostat was at to 8C. Even after running all night at that temperature, it was barely comfortable. We were charged full price, almost €200, though the front desk staff knew of the issues. I now have seen reviews dating back 3 years mentioning this problem, and am shocked that they charged full price despite our suffering problems of which they are all aware. Breakfast was nice and the staff tried to be helpful, hence the one star. I will not recommend or return. read more

We stayed here two nights during our first visit to Dublin. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I thought the rooms were beautifully decorated-very modern with purple lights. Breakfast buffet had a lot of choices. Loved the variety. Good orange juice. Normally eggs on a buffet taste horrible but these were delicious. Also had dinner at their restaurant. Ribeye was delicious as was the asparagus starter. Nile, the bartender ran to get bag of ice for our friend that needed to ice her foot. Great location---walking distance from temple Bar, Cathedrals, restaurants, Jsmison Brewey, shopping etc. Hop on hop off bus had a stop nearby too!! read more

The Morrison Hotel on Ormond Quay is an unconventional space, where 'East Meets West' - the idiosyncratic meets the more ceremonial. Antique tables, velvet upholstered chairs, an array of imperial purples, golds and scarlets and theatrical, long velvet curtains help construct the French-boudoir chic crossed with a progressive and lustrous boutique style that the hotel emanates. Overlooking the River Liffey, the hotel is stationed a two minute walk via the Millennium Bridge to Dublin's cultural quarter Temple Bar, recognized for its wealth of restaurants and night-time activity. This really is the ideal Dublin location for big business in conjunction with pleasure. I have worked at a conference held at the hotel and have nothing to report but high praise. I became particularly aware of the due diligence on the part of the staff who were obliging and very courteous at all times. I never felt they were aggravated at any time that I asked for their assistance. The conference was held in 'Printworks 1 and 2', and the tea and coffee breaks were held in the celestial 'Art Gallery', situated at the back of the main body of the hotel where you can enter The Morrisson via the private entrance from Ormond Quay. This distinctive venue space opens on to a Bohemian styled courtyard and is perfect for a wide range of functions, cocktail receptions, product launches with canapés as well as an array of many other soirées. The Art Gallery boasts an assortment of particularly stylish offerings including large eye-catching antiques such as Greek vases with intricate patterns, one-of-a-kind artwork and a glorious freestanding mirror that goes from floor to ceiling, together with a modern semiprecious stone chandelier. During our tea breaks we enjoyed freshly brewed coffee and Irish breakfast tea, herbal and infused teas, warm mini pastries and sumptuous muffins as well as delectable scones with butter and preserves - just what you need on a bleak and icy Dublin morning. The meeting and event facilities here are really very proficient. Any selection from the hotel's Halo Restaurant is very creatively presented, carrying on the artistic edge established by the décor. My friend and I enjoyed 'Sean's Monkfish Wellington for 2, Market Veg, Spuds and Mozzarella in a Herby Parcel with a Lemon Creme Fraiche Dip' and relished in the flawless dessert 'After Eight' - a humorous conception comprising of peppermint parfait, a sumptuous dark chocolate pyramid and mint liquor. The cuisine was utterly delectable and even more enjoyable within the comfortable boutique surroundings. The only ostensible flaw was that some of the tables are exceedingly close to one another making it virtually impossible to conduct a private chat. Certainly that section of the restaurant is more appropriate for the seating of larger groups. Chic, unperturbed, cool and graceful this really is a fantastic hotel and great base if you are visiting Dublin, whether for business or honest pleasure. read more

We had our wedding reception at The Morrison Hotel, with block room bookings for our guests, and had a truly first rate experience. We honestly could not have been happier and would give The Morrison more than the maximum number of stars if that was possible for a beautiful distinctive venue and, most of all, absolutely outstanding service. We planned our wedding remotely from the UK, which was a challenge, and Marion, who helped coordinate all of our planning, was exceptional! We knew we could trust her completely, which was necessary in our situation, as we weren't there in person to micromanage. Marion was always prompt and warm in her response and truly went the extra mile, offering solutions to any minor planning snags along the way and anticipating our needs, doing everything in her power to accommodate us. She helped us find good vendors (florist, DJ), who she even liaised/negotiated with on our behalf in the case of the DJ, and kept us on track (she has much more wedding planning experience than we did) with our decision making, always providing helpful advice. The hotel staff were all friendly and excellent. From our numerous visits to the hotel throughout the wedding planning process (mostly in day trips to Dublin), it was obvious to us how well managed the hotel is. The operations staff were brilliant on our special day. The food was amazing, and they were extremely flexible in accommodating special dietary requests in a way that was completely no fuss for us. The Morrison is a fabulous place to have a wedding. Thanks to the staff, who are extremely on the ball, everything went without a hitch, and our guests (even the toughest critics) were all very impressed with our seamless planning (largely because we could rely on excellent staff). The special gestures (e.g., framed photo of bride & groom at our wedding reception greeting us at the end of the night) came as a surprise and were appreciated, making the experience all the more memorable. We really couldn't recommend the Morrison or praise the team of staff who took care of us and our guests more strongly. read more

You can't beat the location of this hotel. It puts you within walking distance of most of the major sites in Dublin. If you are driving, the parking lot you are told to use is a public lot down the street without any direct connection to the hotel so you have to wheel or carry your luggage quite some distance. We had booked our room online and paid for the entire stay months before our September 2017 trip but were delayed in arriving one day due to airline problems (remember all the hurricanes??). We did call the hotel (which was difficult as the phone number listed on their web site is not correct) but couldn't get a refund for the one night stay we weren't going to use although the hotel asked us to release the room so they could give it to another guest - in other words they wanted to collect a room charge twice, once from us and once from another guest. We declined. When we finally arrived and got into our room we found that the tv cable system didn't work so we had to call for a repair man to fix it. Then the outlet for the hair dryer didn't work and the hotel bathrobe had chocolate stains on it. The staff quickly fixed all these issues but it was all rather irritating. We were given a free drink at the hotel restaurant (which is just ok - go out and enjoy all the amazing restaurants in Dublin). The breakfast buffet is rather good and the staff there were very pleasant and answered everyone's questions about where to go and even provided walking maps when asked. I'm a gold star Hilton member so I really expected more of this hotel and I won't stay here again or recommend it but the location is very good. read more
