The Alex is a great hotel when staying in Dublin if you want to be just slightly off the beaten path but still within walking distance to a lot of the fun museums, bars, and restaurants. I appreciated this hotel for their location. By not being on the busiest of streets it was a lot more relaxing and quiet of a stay. We slept good every night and didn't hear any rowdy bar hopers as can be the case when deep in the heart of the city. But again, as a plus we weren't too far out that we easily walked most places we wanted to go within 15-30 minutes. And by taxi everything we saw was about 10 minutes so easy to get around and feel like we had a nice location. The service and staff here are 5/5. Everyone from the manager to the different gals behind the desk were so lovely and professional. Very helpful and just genuinely nice people. We felt valued as customers staying here and appreciated all their help with getting us taxis and suggesting good restaurants. The rooms were very comfortable and I really loved the decor. Very masculine yet warm bedroom decor. Comfortable beds and nice sized bathrooms. This hotel isn't too big so it was quiet and comfortable. Also the perks are that they have a coffee shop attached to the hotel and also a fabulous little restaurant. Super convenient when you want someplace close and easy. At the coffee shop they had one of the best vanilla lattes I'd had in Ireland. Also at the restaurant I would recommend the passion fruit cocktail, the extra cheesy delicious cheeseburger, and the fish & Chips. All great.

stunning hotel! great location, really kind service. we arrived at 11am and were able to get into our room. bathroom was gorgeous and had everything we needed as far as hair care and body care (why do so many hotels not have lotion anymore???). excellent if you're hoping to walk to galleries and museums. try the yoga studio across the street.

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at this hotel's restaurant. My Piri Piri Chicken tasted very good, as did his Fish and Chips. The zucchini was tasty, and had a hint of vinegar. The menu was limited but fine. The quiet music and relaxing ambiance were perfect after a long day of travel. Our server was helpful, friendly and willing to chat. This restaurant is available to guests of the Alex and at least one sister hotel, the Davenport. The restaurant is conveniently across the street from our hotel (the Davenport), and we may return.

We arrived from an overnight flight at roughly 9:30 a.m. and they were still prepping rooms but they stored our luggage and recommended a location to grab something to eat which was very good. Upon returning about 45 minutes later our room was ready and we found the room to be meticulous with a very comfy king bed, mini fridge, tv, and ample size bathroom. I saw a few other reviews that stated the bathroom doors would not stay open but I learned that is by design and we just asked for an extra towel that we used to prop the door open when needed. It serves to point out that the entire hotel is under a complete remodel so many of the rooms and features of the hotel are shinny new. They do offer breakfast in the morning and for the evening they do have a restaurant and bar. Just walk out the front door if you want a livelier crowd and more restaurant options The location of the hotel is prime as it offers proximity the River Liffey, plenty of shops, pubs, and attractions. We walked to the Jameson (25 min walk) and Guinness (30 min walk) factories as it also gave us the ability to take in things along the walk. You are close to Trinity College and both St Patrick's and Christ Church Cathedrals. lastly, I cannot say enough about the staff, Anne at the front desk was a warm and inviting pleasure and very professional, Marvin the concierge and bellman was super helpful and pleasantly informative, the house staff was attentive and always looking to make sure we were comfortable. The Brooks comes with my highest recommendation.

For the price, my hotel room smelled awful and it was super noisy from the HVAC outside. I would take the noise of Temple Bar over that. I wasn't really impressed with the decor. Everything was plain and bland. It lacked charm. It was ok but I will look for another option on my next Dublin trip.

If you come prepared, they have a concierge and a genealogist on site to help you find your ancestors from Ireland. Many famous people and politicians have stayed in these walls as well. That said, this was a truly special time of year when they're getting ready for Christmas! They took such care and were meticulous with their decorations. It was delightful to come home to each evening. Experience: 1. They will tidy your room everyday 2. Turn down service begins around 6 pm (they will get your slipper, robe, bed, water and chocolate ready for nighttime) 3. Their small guest room includes a king size bed that is superbly fluffy. 4. The deluxe guest room has a deep tub for soaking Staff: The entire front desk staff is very helpful, welcoming and efficient. Marta was especially helpful and kind throughout my stay! As for the porters were just right with their assistance. I did always feel bad that I had not gotten any Euro on my trip, but I will mention Karl was fantastic! Always helpful and nice to talk with. Michele in the health center was informative and helped me find all of the rooms for their current gym as it's under renovation. Facilities: They have a 5 star spa on site that includes one of the best relaxation rooms I have experienced in the world. It's the view and seating that make it amazing. They give you a blanket, fruit, spa water -- all while looking over st. Stephen's park... bliss! (I went on a rainy day which added to the ambiance) The facial with Elemis product was my favorite. PRO TIP! if you're from the states and liked Elemis, there is now an Elemis outlet store at Kildare Village, which is a short train ride away. I made it there in 35 minutes. DINING: Again, 5 star experience and the restaurant is always packed. Chef makes superb food and I thoroughly enjoyed the room service of fish and chips. TONS of fish, perfectly battered and fried. If I could give the shelbourne a 10 out of 5 I would.

It is in a convenient location nearby many tourist attractions, such as Temple Bar, Dublin's castle, St Patrick's Cathedral, etc. it was also a short walking distance to our car rental pick up at St Stephen's Green shopping centre. We booked this hotel for the first day of our trip. We arrived in the morning so our room wasn't ready for check in yet, but we were able to drop off our luggage in the lobby. This made it easy for us as we could continue exploring according to our plan (we took a 30 minute train ride over to Howth right after dropping our bags). Coming back to the hotel around 5pm, our room was ready and we were able to nap a bit before dinner. The superior room we booked was located in a renovated section of the hotel and had access to a shared outdoor patio right across from our hotel room. We didn't have time to use the patio but it was spacious and it seemed no one was using it whenever we passed by. Our hotel room was very clean, large (great for us as we had plenty of luggage) and we had two complementary water bottles in the room. We had breakfast the next morning and it was buffet style. There is a section if you want fresh made omelettes. Lots of variety I think but I stuck with the classic Irish breakfast items. So delicious and fresh! Check out process - we had a bit of a hiccup as I had given my credit card for authorization for breakfast charges when I checked in. The staff was asking for my credit card again which confused me as I had already paid. Despite the confusion, the service at Radisson was great and I would definitely recommend this hotel for fellow tourists!

The Merrion Hotel is one of them…read more We spent three unforgettable nights here in late July, and from the moment we arrived until our departure, every aspect of our stay was flawless. The hotel strikes the perfect balance between historic grandeur and contemporary luxury, delivering an experience that feels both elegant and genuinely welcoming. The staff were exceptional. Every interaction was warm, polished, and effortless, but Robert, the doorman, deserves special recognition. His professionalism, kindness, and sincere hospitality set the tone each time we entered or left the hotel. He embodies the remarkable standard of service that defines The Merrion. Breakfast each morning in the Garden Room was a highlight of our stay. Designed with a relaxed atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with the hotel's formal Georgian drawing rooms, it offers one of the finest breakfasts I've ever enjoyed. The buffet showcases exceptional Irish produce, including a wonderful selection of regional honeys, artisanal yogurts, and kefirs sourced from counties across Ireland. The freshly prepared Full Irish Breakfast was, without question, the best I've ever had--perfectly cooked and featuring outstanding local ingredients. The hotel's wellness facilities are equally impressive. The indoor swimming pool is one of the most beautiful hotel pools I've encountered, complemented by an excellent sauna, steam room, fitness center, and luxurious spa that provide a tranquil retreat after a day exploring Dublin. The Merrion's setting is spectacular. Occupying four meticulously restored Georgian townhouses alongside a contemporary Garden Wing, it combines architectural beauty with every modern comfort. Yet what truly distinguishes the property is its extraordinary art collection. Housing Ireland's largest private collection of 19th- and 20th-century Irish art, the hotel feels as much like a museum as it does a luxury hotel. Among my favorite pieces were Sean Scully's striking Vertical Stripes, Jack B. Yeats' magnificent The Hour of Sleep, Louis le Brocquy's haunting Woman in White, and works by Paul Henry, Roderic O'Conor, Mainie Jellett, and William Scott. In the courtyard garden, Rowan Gillespie's bronze sculpture of James Joyce provides a fitting tribute to one of Ireland's literary giants. Wandering the corridors and elegant reception rooms became an experience in itself. What impressed me most, however, was the service. The staff possess an extraordinary ability to anticipate guests' needs without ever being intrusive. Our room was impeccably maintained each day, with thoughtful evening turndown service, replenished water, perfectly arranged slippers, and countless small touches that elevated our stay. One moment particularly stood out. An elderly family member who uses a wheelchair came to visit us during our stay. The compassion, patience, and professionalism shown by every member of the staff made what could have been a challenging visit completely effortless. Their commitment to accessibility and genuine care was deeply appreciated and reflected the hotel's philosophy that true luxury lies in making every guest feel welcome. The Merrion is more than simply Dublin's premier luxury hotel--it is a destination in its own right. With world-class dining, outstanding wellness facilities, museum-quality art, impeccable accommodations, and service that consistently exceeds expectations, it represents Irish hospitality at its absolute finest. I would return without hesitation, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Check-in was early and we were told they would call us when a room was available (and that we were upgraded). The room was lovely with plenty of space, lots of windows for natural light and comfortable bedding. You really see how they earned their 5 star rating. Every staff member we interacted with, from the front desk, to the gentleman who handled our bags to the room service team bringing food- went the extra mile to ensure we had everything we needed, ask us how our time thus far had been, and make recommendations. What struck me as well was how quiet the hotel was for sleeping- no elevator noises, neighbors slamming doors or anything to disturb us. A lovely gesture that really meant a lot to us was that they sent up a plate with macaroons and sweets with Happy Anniversary written on the plate. Speaking of plates- the food is great too! We enjoyed the vegetarian Irish breakfast and pancakes with fresh juices, fruits and croissants! Our favorite hotel stay yet, we felt at home, truly enjoyed staying in the room as much as we did exploring Dublin, and had such kind interactions with everyone we spoke with.
