Pros: The hotel had lifts and the AC worked great. The staff were also very helpful, especially when arranging transportation. The location was great. For the price, my hotel room smelled awful and it was super noisy from the HVAC outside. I would take the noise of Temple Bar over that. I wasn't really impressed with the decor. Everything was plain and bland. It lacked charm. It was ok but I will look for another option on my next Dublin trip. read more

Fantastic from the beginning and hands down the friendliest staff I have ever encountered in any hotel on any continent. We arrived from an overnight flight at roughly 9:30 a.m. and they were still prepping rooms but they stored our luggage and recommended a location to grab something to eat which was very good. Upon returning about 45 minutes later our room was ready and we found the room to be meticulous with a very comfy king bed, mini fridge, tv, and ample size bathroom. I saw a few other reviews that stated the bathroom doors would not stay open but I learned that is by design and we just asked for an extra towel that we used to prop the door open when needed. It serves to point out that the entire hotel is under a complete remodel so many of the rooms and features of the hotel are shinny new. They do offer breakfast in the morning and for the evening they do have a restaurant and bar. Just walk out the front door if you want a livelier crowd and more restaurant options The location of the hotel is prime as it offers proximity the River Liffey, plenty of shops, pubs, and attractions. We walked to the Jameson (25 min walk) and Guinness (30 min walk) factories as it also gave us the ability to take in things along the walk. You are close to Trinity College and both St Patrick's and Christ Church Cathedrals. lastly, I cannot say enough about the staff, Anne at the front desk was a warm and inviting pleasure and very professional, Marvin the concierge and bellman was super helpful and pleasantly informative, the house staff was attentive and always looking to make sure we were comfortable. We stayed at the Brook's Hotel in Downtown Dublin when arriving in Ireland. The location of this hotel is nearby some great restaurants and pubs and not a far walk to the Temple Bar area and river. The rooms were each different to have their own personalities. The troubles we ran into was that our rooms were not ready at check in at 3pm; but, were able to scramble and find an additional room quickly for us. The staff at the front desk were also not overly friendly nor helpful. Lastly, our bathroom door wouldn't stay open so it got very hot and the shower door was off the roller track. My husband and I own a home in Tuscany and always fly over to Dublin first before we make our way to Italy. We have loved Dublin since our first trip to this lively city in 2000 and have visited often, sometimes staying for an extended period of time. We are now living in Italy permanently and expect to be in Dublin often. This is the first time we stayed at the Brook's Hotel and could not be happier. The newly refurbished hotel is a gem with beautifully appointed rooms that are spacious and well-designed. The bed is so comfortable and even though I suffer from jet lag that usually keeps me up, I fell asleep quickly and felt well rested by the time we went down for breakfast. The choices for breakfast were varied and delicious and the staff was so gracious and welcoming. Anne made sure all of our needs were met before arrival. We requested a room with a bathtub and fan and she paid attention to details that were important to us. We Americans love our hot showers and baths and we also love forceful water pressure and this hotel gets an A plus in that department. So many hotels fall short when it comes to hot water and good water pressure. There is nothing worse than a lukewarm shower that dribbles out of the spout. The bathroom was really beautiful too with nice fixtures, great lighting, plenty of towels, and what is fast becoming a rarity.....a nice bathtub to luxuriate in after a long journey. The Brooks also happens to be located in one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in the city center, in close proximity to all Dublin has to offer. read more

We recently stayed two nights. This was our least favorite, and most expensive, hotel during our holiday. When staying here, you appear to be paying a premium for the location, and nothing else. Location was excellent - just far enough from the action on Friday night that we could sleep undisturbed, but so close to great shopping and Temple Bar. Beds were comfortable. We had been upgraded to an Executive room, which was nice except for the dated and small bathroom (think Hampton Inn quality). Other travelers in our group had updated bathrooms. We all experienced a loss of hot water when showering in the morning. Breakfast was good, with plentiful options. Waitstaff was very friendly. It took a long time for hot breakfast to arrive both mornings, so give yourself extra time if you are on a schedule. Would not recommend an extended stay here, but it met our needs. read more

My husband and I took a big anniversary trip to Europe for two weeks. The beginning of the trip started at the Brooks hotel. After a long flight, all we wanted to do was freshen up in our hotel room. Unfortunately we arrived too early for check in. So after meandering about Stephen's Green and drinking some much needed caffeine, we made our way back. Our room was not ready. Clearly distressed, the lobby manager brought us to the hotel bar for free drinks on them. I want to say firstly that the whole staff at the Brooks hotel is kind, helpful, and very generous. We felt very well cared for. However, during the hour we waited in the hotel bar we made a friend. His name is Roger. He was busy helping everyone and yet gave us extra attention while we waited. We talked about life, family, he pulled out a map for us and helped us plan where to go the following day, he brought us free ice cream intended for the staff, and was just a pleasant gift of a person to be around. Bed caved in towards the middle so you couldn't get comfortable, and the windows were so thin you could head people partying until after 1 AM. We stayed at this tucked-away, beautiful hotel on Drury Street, in what I came to feel was the prettiest part of Dublin. It's very close to everything, but doesn't feel like it. The rooms were lovely: extremely clean, cozy, accented in wood, with bay windows complete with a little table and chairs overlooking the street. The soaps smelled like a wonderful blend of herbs and they left tasty chocolate mints on our pillows every night. Connor, the concierge, was very friendly and helpful, and as previous guests have noted, it's amazing how he memorized our names. There is a library downstairs, where you can relax and where we found a book on James Joyce in Dublin which helped guide some of our walks. The restaurant/bar downstairs serves a pricey breakfast, which we tried on one of our days there. The homemade bread was fantastic. They also serve fresh pineapple and croissants with Nutella. The week at Brook's was more than we were initially planning to spend when we started mapping out our trip, but definitely worth it. read more

I really want to give this place a 3.5, but you can't give half stars. The rooms - 2 Not the most comfortable bed or room we stayed in, and no view at all. It did the job of a room, but we had better rooms later on the trip. The cost - 1 This was the most expensive place far and beyond. Compared to what we got at other hotels for a fraction of the cost, this was robbery. Location - 5 Good location that makes walking anywhere you want to go fairly easy. Restaurant - 2 The breakfast here was ok. We didn't buy it with our room, but we still got a discount. The service was pretty terrible though. They forgot about my meal, so I wasn't served until after my mom and husband were basically done with their food. Help getting around - 5 The rooms come with an iPhone that is preloaded to help tourists around the city. It was super slick having that with us and took a lot of that stress of getting a sim card off our backs for a bit. The residence lounge was cozy and the man working, Marvin or something, was awesome. In the wee hours he made my husband and I the best hotel sandwich I've ever had. We'll be in Dublin again and will probably stay here. We didn't take advantage of it, but the pillow menu is hilarious. You can order whatever type of pillow you want. I loved staying at the Brooks. The rooms are very comfortable, the staff friendly, and the service was excellent. They have a bar and a restaurant and both were fantastic. The bar has an extensive whisky list and they also host tastings. Breakfast was fantastic and I think it had about the nicest buffet I have had. It is within walking distance of virtually everything a visitor will want to see or do, including historical sites, museums, restaurants, and pubs. The rooms are comfortable and well-furnished. The staff are very helpful. The in-house restaurant and bar are fine, though there are lots of other restaurants nearby. Get the bed-and-breakfast package; the breakfast is quite good. Our family stayed here the night before our flight home. Public parking is immediately across the street. The staff is wonderfully helpful; Aidan even went with my husband to move our car from the wrong lot to the correct one when we asked for help. Dublin streets are beyond comprehension and even with GPS it took us a stressful 20 minutes to find the location. Aidan's help was exactly what we needed to successfully change lots. If you like paper thin walls, poor service & weak internet connection -- here's your hotel! First of all, I could hear my neighbor SNORING next door. That's how thin. Don't expect an ounce of privacy. There were issues that came up during my stay -- being woken up by phone calls (after asking them not to call me). I was awoken 3 times! "Hi, you have a do not disturb sign on your door." "YES BECAUSE I'M SLEEPING!" A brown haired woman at the front desk was lovely and professional but the manager here is a total amateur. After more issues she not only didn't offer me anything (like a free snack/ water/ wine / ANYTHING -- she didn't even apologize!) Couldn't believe it. The hotel is great location wise (but NO view) but I have such a bad taste in my mouth from the service. The waiter at breakfast couldn't FATHOM that I wanted to take my food to my room. Was a huge chore (and I felt like I was inconveniencing him) just to get a to-go box! Also -- I'll never understand how in 2018 hotels don't have outlets near the bed to let you charge your phone. And again, spotty internet in 2018? Come on! Bed is comfortable! Hotel is otherwise quiet. I just don't get what happened with my stay. read more

We truly enjoyed our 2-night stay at the Brook's. In truth, I would rate this 4.25 star, but the superlative customer service makes up for the decimal points. PROs: Responsive emails and thorough information during booking stage. Quiet cellar-level lounging area in case of early arrival. This was key for us. Fabulous breakfast spread. Knowledgeable and personable customer service, esp the concierge Conor. Some rooms can accommodate 3 people (this was not super clear on their web site). Notes: Ask ahead about parking if you need it. The hotel has agreements with two nearby garages. All triple rooms face the back. It was def more quiet, but your view is an office bldg. (That said, I hear the front doesn't have much of a view either.) For such a nice hotel, we were surprised there were only 2 bath towels (plus smaller towels) in a triple room. Of course, you can request more, but weird, right? I thought our rate of €245 (with breakfasts) was a bit steep, considering cheap deals were available the night of for ~€150 for a double on various booking sites. However, with booking sites we couldn't guarantee a triple room, and rumour has it some of the double rooms can be small. So depending on your flexibility and appetite for "downgrades", be advised. All this said, I would stay there again! read more

Went here for a private cinema club last week and saw Planes, Trains & Automobiles. I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of the night, although there were a few niggles. This review would be more of a 3.5 if there were such thing. It's a great little cinema - maybe seats 30 or so. Super comfortable seats, and little tables that pull out so you really feel like you're in luxury. It seems to be sponsored by Pellegrino as you get a free one when you go in and a box of popcorn. There are a few options for payment - you can either pay €10 for the movie, popcorn and drink, €15 for all that plus a cocktail, or €29 for all that plus a two course meal in their restaurant. We went for option two - the movie plus cocktail, and this is where the points would be docked. To clarify, the cocktail in question isn't actually a cocktail. It's a gin or vodka based mix with Pellegrino. There are two options I believe, and then you pick which flavour Pellegrino you want it mixed with. It's poured into a giant cocktail glass, but a cocktail it ain't. For a fiver, it's grand, there's loads of booze in it, so if you weren't fussy, that's fine, but I am a bit picky about something being billed a cocktail when in fact it isn't. There was also a slight issue with communication between reception and the bar, but that was sorted out pretty quickly. The staff were really extremely friendly and very keen to make sure any issues were sorted as quick as possible, so I wouldn't like to blame them too much. All in all, it was a lovely night and I would recommend it. I believe it happens every Thursday, but is booked out for the rest of the year, with a new schedule being put together currently for 2014. read more

You come through the main door and before you stands a very nicely layed out bar, lounge area, reception and restaurant; all nicely lit and decorated. We had coffee and buns and then got to use the oh so very respectable meeting rooms, my colleagues who were staying there were full of praise for the bedrooms and the breakfasts. This review is actually for the film club here, and not the hotel proper. Since booking into a hotel 2 miles from my front door is very 2006, and I can't hope to indulge in such fun/extravagance these days! I toddled along to the film club, which shows older movies, and is on a couple of times a month, to see Planes Trains and Automobiles, a classic! No advance list is currently available but they will be doing Christmas films in December and releasing the list of films for 2014 in the next few weeks. We went with the €15 ticket which was advertised on their website, giving us a cocktail, film, popcorn and unlimited San Pelegrino drinks. However the staff seemed to be fairly unaware of the cinema and the deals offered as part of it. Initially the receptionist charged €20 until we queried it and her supervisor corrected her, and then when we went to the bar to get our cocktail (note it is only a specific one, not a choice) the bar staff did not know about the deal at all and tried to charge us for the drinks, again, until a manager spoke to them. It's certainly not the staffs fault, and they were very pleasant, but less feisty women may have been left drinkless and overcharged! The cinema itself is lovely, 24 seats and very good quality visuals, I will certainly be back, and with luck the little kinks in this new venture will have been ironed out. read more

I stayed here once and have come here many times as I used to get private tutoring in the bar area here. It's not bad, there is a full bar, a few items on the food menu and they serve coffee and tea. The place is nicely laid out, the tables are pretty big and it gets pretty noisy on weekends, especially in the evening time. The tea is just your average tea, and I ordered green tea a few times where they just give a cup with a tea bag so you pour it yourself. The atmosphere feels quite formal, as in candle lit dinner kind of thing and it's pretty dimly lit. Overall though, not a bad place to get a drink. The only thing I didn't like too much was the service. It's not terrible, but not great either as I didn't find the staff that friendly. The rooms are really nice, I got a single room and it came with a double bed! Everything was really clean, the decor was nice, the bathroom was quite spacious and complimentary wifi. They also serve a nice substantial breakfast! The other good thing about this hotel is the location; it's bang in the middle of the city centre, so I would recommend it for anyone visiting Dublin in general. However, it's not the cheapest. I was staying during a busy time and it was around 180 for one night, which is pretty expensive. If you have a car though and are willing to drive, there are much cheaper alternatives on the outskirts. read more

It took a long time for my husband and me to decide on a neighborhood and hotel in which to stay on our first trip to Dublin, and I feel like we really scored with the Brooks Hotel. All of the staff at the front desk were so kind and helpful, our room was ready right away, and they helped us get oriented to the neighborhood. And the neighborhood is really great. This is such a good location, just minutes walking from shopping areas, museums, Dame Street for the tourist busses, etc. The breakfast was fantastic, it was so refreshing to have all that fresh fruit and juices along with the cooked foods. We had tea one afternoon, it was bustling but a nice respite after a day of touring around. And one night we had a nightcap in the bar. The service was excellent. Room was clean and comfy. The only thing weird as in many hotel rooms, just have to get used to, the shower. No big whoop. If I go to Dublin again, I'm staying here again. read more

My mom and I were on a quick overnight in Dublin before we made our way to Co. Mayo the next day, so we hadn't planned a long stay in the hotel. Check-in was quick and efficient. We were greeted warmly and it made us feel welcome after a long day of traveling. The room itself was relatively large, as was the bathroom (a huge plus for two women traveling together!). The shower was wonderful but the hairdryer was a total miss (some weird contraption on the wall that barely blew anything out but weak hot air). The location was fantastic! We were able to walk to the Temple Bar area in a matter of 10 minutes without a problem for a pub crawl we went on that night. With that being said, we arrived back at the hotel late at night, pretty drunk. Admittedly we'd had too much of a good time and it was pretty evident when we called down for room service. Unfortunately the beer got the better of us because we were a fit of giggles. The room service attendant on the other line waiting for our order was not impressed or amused and asked us to call back. We never did; he seemed more annoyed than understanding (we're in Ireland after all, surely you've dealt with drunks before?!). At breakfast the next morning, we had to flag down a server for coffee and toast, which was a little unnerving considering that everyone else had been served with toast and coffee except us. There was also something clumpy in the cream at the table, so I wasn't able to enjoy coffee at all that morning (bummer). Check out was good, with a very sweet front desk clerk who patiently explained our bill and offered to hold our luggage during breakfast. She also was helpful in calling a cab for us to the rental car location. I would probably stay at Brooks again when back in Dublin, based on the location alone. I wish we'd had more time at the hotel to really enjoy everything else, but alas, our journey kept us moving and shaking read more

The concierge was incredibly friendly, breakfast in the morning was good and the rooms were decent sized for a city hotel. That was frustrating, especially since the bar appeared over staffed. One night, we did a whiskey tasting. My uncle really enjoyed it, and it was a good experience overall, but lack luster as well. I did discover my affinity for Midleton whiskey though - so that's a win! The hotel itself was lovely and quite nice! The location is perfect on Drury Street, and the rooms are well kept. We stayed in the Brooks in 2007 after reading excellent reviews on the internet, and were not disappointed! Very clean and well-presented, with friendly helpful staff, nothing is too much trouble for them. Excellent location - central to everything, 5 minutes walk from Temple Bar and Grafton Street, yet tucked down a little side street so it's quiet and you get a good nights sleep. They had made a mistake with our booking when we arrived, but this was sorted out very quickly and they upgraded us to a superior room at no extra cost to make up for it - very impressive! Massive comfy beds and clean bathrooms, and an amazing breakfast in the morning- everything from fruits to pastries and yogurts, cereals, and a full Irish cooked breakfast. Our room was turned down and cleaned every night with chocolates on the pillows and new toiletries and towels. It can be fairly expensive, but if you shop around you can find some good deals on the internet - I think we paid 66 euros a night each, including breakfast, which was good value considering the level of service we recieved. We'd definitely stay there again. read more

Really a 3.5 star, and almost a 4 in some ways. I very much liked the staff there -- they were uniformly very nice. And they did a great job arranging for a rental car for us -- grateful for their good efforts. It's in a good location south of the river. Room was very clean and comfortable. However, we had to have them come to the room three times to get the toilet working. Only one electrical socket out of three worked. The shower, oddly, had only the tiniest strip of rubber to separate it from the bathroom floor, all but insuring some flooding with each shower. read more
