In love with this hotel. It's not hard to see how this small, luxury hotel is on several travel lists. The Dylan is about 30 min from the city center but close to lots of restaurants and pubs. Their restaurant was top notch and the food was probably the best I had during my time in Dublin. If you're not able to stay, l'd recommend visiting their restaurant, The Eddison. We really enjoyed the beef bourguignon, steak sandwich, and fish and chips. The breakfast was also very high quality with delicious pastries. I recommend the Dylan breakfast. It came with the most yummy hashbrowns (I had to order more). The people here are also so friendly and helpful. I felt very well taken care of. read more

This hotel was exceptional. First, the location was very walkable with pubs and restaurants close by. The room was so comfortable and it might be the best shower I've ever had. My favorite part of this hotel though was the breakfast. We got a complimentary breakfast every morning with our booking. The coffee was great. It included a ton of little pastries. The Dylan is a beautiful boutique hotel. Giving 5 stars seems over the top ... usually. But it really is that good. Every member of the staff is polite and friendly. They engage in a way that truly communicates care for your experience. We stayed 2 nights over the weekend, explored the country during the week and returned for one night before returning home. On our final one night stay, they graciously moved us up to a suite to make our last night in the country extra special. Both rooms were extremely clean, comfortable and well-appointed. We had everything we could need. If I had one minor complaint, I'd say the rooms felt too warm at night. When we arrived, there was a cute little plate of deserts and a hand written note to welcome us. Super nice touch. Coming back to the room each night, there were chocolates and bottles of water. We had breakfast every morning. The coffee, juices and food were delicious. The bar area and restaurant are clean and attractive. We enjoyed chatting with the bar tender on one evening. The location of the Dylan is nearly perfect. It's clean and very safe. There are some restaurants round the corner. It's about a 20-30 minute walk to the downtown area. We never felt unsafe walking. I might feel unsafe after dark in some areas of the city. Some of the city was less than clean, making this little area extra special. It was absolutely the nicest part of the city that we saw. However, it is SO dimly lit- including guest rooms and especially guest bathrooms and public hallways- and the service is amateur. Concierge desk is a bit slow/inattentive. Our room had not one single place to set anything down in the bathroom, requiring us putting our toiletries bags on the floor. Water pressure in the bathrooms is very low. Such an extremely disappointing booking process! This hotel does not honor your reservation. Several weeks after we made the reservation, we received an email saying that the hotel made a "mistake" and decided to raise the price of our reservation. Who does that?! They refused to even tell us the new price. Upon calling we were informed the hotel raised the price of our reservation by over $500, which is absolutely unacceptable. What scammers! When we looked at other hotels in the area, the price has gone up significantly since we were now forced to book another hotel last minute. We started our trip in Dublin and I am delighted to say that The Dylan Hotel was the perfect place to begin our vacation. The rooms were quite large for a European hotel, the interior was beautiful, the bed was comfy, and that bathroom was so luxurious. I don't know how I can ever go back to floors that aren't heated. This is the only hotel we stayed at during our trip where the AC actually was adjustable. The staff was so friendly and even remembered small details about us and the breakfast was delicious. I ordered room service and, not only was it really quick, but the food was so tasty and a a big portion! They even came and cleaned our room twice a day. This was also located in a quieter part of town which we preferred. The view from our room wasn't the greatest (it was a alleyway) but everything else about this hotel made up for that. The cocktail menu here is one of the most extensive in Dublin. It is pricey, my martini was about €12 but it was probably one of the nicest that I have ever had anywhere to date. The service was fantastic. Pure class, they treated you very genuinely and at no stage did I feel like they were angling for a tip. It does not get the full star treatment because we went here for New Year's Eve and the atmosphere was really lacking. They had a live band that sang Spanish tunes but not the like the vibrant Irish music level of energy... I can say that confidently as there was a Spaniard in our group and he lamented that they were not playing some banging tradition Spanish tunes. It was too elevator music like and worst of all they didn't do a count down! Very anticlimactic. Plus I never thought it was possible to sing the "Macarena" in such a style that I considered it meditation inspiring music - seriously. What's more, one of the slices was totally burnt. The Dylan is, as expected for an upmarket boutique hotel, pretty damn pricey. But, I think, it works. I live in Dublin so I wouldn't be going to stay here or anything, but I've been lots of times for cocktails, lunch and since it's right beside my office, I've booked conference rooms here too. Firstly, let's get to the cocktails - they do the best bellini in Dublin here. I also like their passion fruit cosmo...yummy! But at about €15 a pop you wouldn't want to be having too many. I mean it's fine if you want to have one or two nice drinks, but you won't be going on the lash here! The staff are super accommodating too. The lunch menu has gone down in price considerably in the past few months, so it's actually quite reasonable now. And they also do a bar menu too, so if you want something decent without paying a fortune, then you can definitely come here. read more

I honestly don't get it. I see an average review of 4 while I am thinking it is a 2.5 - surely there is something I missed. Note that I paid EUR 440 per night for a regular room, and that was definitely not worth the money. My review is based on this price point. If you pay EUR 200 then it is another story. Location: average, i.e. you almost always have to call a cab. I'd rather be closer to Merrion Square. Style: I love boutique hotels but here they are trying too hard. Ultimately it looks cheap. Food: good. They provide q Nespresso coffee maker, well appreciated. Gym: a joke. Seriously. I actually purchased a gym membership at a fitness chain during my stay. Check-in: slow, due to the weird layout of the entrance. Check-out: 20 minutes to (not) get a cab. I just wanted to let you know that I had the worst dining experience ever in The Dylan Hotel and looking at some reviews it seems to be a common theme, I dine out at least twice a week and never experienced anything like it. We got there at 8pm, got seated and waited, and waited, took 20 minutes to get a menu. So we ordered. Ordered a good wine as well. Wine arrived, glass I has was dirty, got another one, also dirty, this is a 5 star hotel, waiter had to go clean one in the kitchen, looking at the table beside us , the glasses were also dirty. Starters didn't arrive until after 9pm, they were both cold starters and took 40 minutes. When they arrived we requested that our mains be sent out ASAP. The Bouillabaisse was tiny, look up any picture of it and dived it by 4 and that's what I got. We asked for the bill and left. During the whole meal the table beside us was never cleared from the previous customers. Service was just awlful read more

I love the atmosphere, location, decor, service (truly friendly and wonderful to children!), and vibe at the Dylan. The afternoon tea service and breakfast are also fabulous. The only negative is the charge for everything in the mini bar, even sparkling water (often included at even lower-quality hotels). There are also a few elements that need updating (some faded/worn carpet, common bathroom sink not working properly, etc.), but that is what happens when you refurbish an old building. I stayed at the Dylan Hotel for a week recently and really enjoyed my stay there. Although I was slightly uncomfortable with the massive amount of red covering the entire place, the overall feel of the hotel was chic and modern. It's a boutique hotel so it has the feel of something more unique than the usual and more well-known chains. Every room here is different so that adds to the fun, if you plan on returning for multiple stays. I originally stayed in a Style room, which was pretty nice and had all of the amenities you could want. Then, that same day, because of some reason that I've already forgotten (heater issues?), I was upgraded to a much larger room. The larger room was about the standard size of a nice American hotel room, but in Europe, it's definitely a luxury to have so much space. Both rooms had nice amenities such as the Bang & Olufsen telephone, iPod with Bose docking station, and other things that I didn't necessarily think to need. I did use the safe quite a bit and was pleased that it opened/locked without problems - which actually shouldn't be taken for granted, as i discovered during a trip to Rome. There was also free wifi that worked quite smoothly and fast, huge plus. The area near the Dylan features 2 markets, multiple coffee shops, 2 banks, and a variety of eateries. It's not necessarily the most happenin' place in all of Dublin, but it's definitely safe and convenient. It's within a 15 minute walking distance to the Luas Green Line, for anyone who might want to go to the Dundrum Shopping Center or other busier areas. The hotel itself is located on a side street, so it can be difficult for the cab driver to find, if he's a rookie. I've only had one issue with cabs getting me to hotel during my week long stay there. The problem was that I jumped into a black cab, without knowing it was one. Not recommended. Thankfully I had a map with me, which was provided by the front desk. The service here is fantastic - quick to provide anything you need. The hotel's restaurant, the Dylan Restaurant, is a pretty fancy and delicious spot. I was snowed in during my stay so I ate quite a few meals there. It's one of those places were you should come a bit dressy though, even if you're just walking 2 floors down from your hotel room. Great food with some creative dishes. Needless to say, I really enjoyed my stay at the Dylan. Next time I return to Dublin, this will once again be my hotel of choice. read more

The Dylan is the best boutique hotel in Dublin. That's a bold statement, but it's true. Sure the Dylan is pricey, but the service and amenities are top notch. The bar and outdoor terrace (both in front and the larger one in the rear) are classy and trendy and serve top-notch cocktails. Get the steak sandwich! As for my hotel room while it was a bit small it was well appointed with features like Bang & Olufsen phones. The bed was very very very comfy. The hotel staff from the bellhops to the receptionists to the bar staff were all extremely friendly and actually helpful. A few things to consider when booking here---The Dylan is a bit off centre...it's still in central Dublin but is about a 15-20 min walk to St Stephens Green / Grafton Street. So if you're looking for something in the middle of all the action this might not be the spot for you. But for me, being away from the hordes of tourists was a huge relief. Taxis are cheap and plentiful in the Irish capital so if the walk is a bit far it's easy to order/hail a taxi. Second, there is no gym/fitness center on site but several nearby gyms do day passes. I've probably stayed at 20 different hotels in Dublin (I used to live in Ireland and go back frequently), and the Dylan is my favourite (yes even over the Four Seasons and Merrion!). read more

Yet another well guarded Dublin secret, this Gem of a cocktail bar is sleek, cool and sophisticated. the covered, heated beer garden is also a bonus and don't be surprised to see the odd celeb here too as a lot of celebs know that this place isn't very well known and being off baggot street, it's off the beaten track too. Drinks are all well prepared and for the pure niceness and poshness of this place, it's not too pricey either. Well worth a visit any night of the week. Upon my return from the United States, I excitedly went to the Dylan for lunch with my mum and sister. Upon my return from the Dylan I disappointingly went to my kitchen cupboard for more food. I like this place I really do, but with my mum ordering a salad that was so small she had to ask for another side salad, my sister ordering a crab sandwich that was so sweet it tasted like it came straight from a can and then I had a very mediocre (at best!) Caesar salad - the proof is in the pudding - or lack there of. They do a great weekend brunch and I've heard a good dinner, but lunch menu is lacking. I'd be reluctant to return. read more

Another place that's been on my "I've been meaning to" list for years, I finally graced its doors for some pre-Christmas cocktails. Firstly, I needed to leave something at reception for safekeeping, the gentleman there kindly obliged while all the time being extremely polite, addressing me as madam. How nice. I enjoyed some cocktails with my sister and her friends. It was very comfortable and luxurious. The floor staff were very attentive and very patient too. The cocktails themselves: I had a Sidecar to start for 12 EUR, it was ok, too sour for my tastes. Next I had one of their own creations called a Southside Fizz, I think, for 9.50 EUR. It was pleasant enough. I retrieved my property as I left and was shown from reception to a waiting taxi outside. I cannot fail the staff here in the Dylan, they are impeccably helpful and polite. I would recommend this as a hotel on their customer service alone. While the cocktails were fine, I doubt very much I will be back for a drink. I don't mix in the kind of circles that socialise in the bar here. But for the folk who were here in the Dylan bar, they all looked very at home and happy. read more

The front terrace and the back outdoor lounge area are the perfect places to sit on a sunny day - and are very pet friendly. They have amazing cocktails. I am not however a fan if the food - I have eaten here 3 or 4 times and although it's fine it's never great. Great hotel with really fantastic staff. The rooms are spacious and well laid out, and they'll supply an iron and hair straighteners at a second's notice! The bar is nice to hang out in (though as pricey as you'd expect) One star deducted because breakfast on our last day was a total disaster. It took 45 minutes: even I can scramble eggs and lay some salmon on a plate in less than 10. There is loads of breakfast and it all tastes fantastic - but service unfortunately let it down. We had every intention of staying here, but when I went up to the front desk to get my reservation the gentleman looked me up and down and wider his eyes. It made me feel as if I didn't belong there. It is approximately 1 mile to Temple bar area and the cute shopping area. The staff at the hotel were fantastic. Mohammed assisted us with planning our two days trip around Dublin. Mohammed made great recommendations including volunteering to make reservations for us at a restaurant. Mohammed was a great concierge and I truly appreciated his assistance. He not only met our needs, he anticipated our needs before we did. The entire staff accommodated our needs. Our room was beautiful and the bed was comfortable. I apologize to anyone who reads this review for the fact that I did not take any pictures of the hotel it was incredibly beautiful. The breakfast buffet had a variety of fruits, cereals, pastries, and yogurt or creams. They have any kind of coffee your heart could desire, not that your heart needs a coffee. Possibly the best hotel I have stayed in. I was very pleased to find the actual hotel matched the pictures posted on the hotel website. It is a little bit of a walk from the city center. However, the hotel is situated in a beautiful neighborhood which made walking to/from the city center that much more enjoyable. The hotel service was excellent. Everyone at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. Noting, I stayed at the Dylan an entire week, so I had a fair bit of time to experience the service. The dining and bar areas are quite beautiful. Though I did not have a chance to experience the food in the restaurant , I enjoyed spending time at the bar. The bartender (Csaba) is very friendly and is passionate about mixing his cocktails. If, or when, I return to Dublin, I will most certainly return to the Dylan. The hotel decor is modern and fun and nice to look at. The staff was PERFECT. Totally perfect - ready to help with anything and everything! The restaurant was top notch too - my husband and I had a few really great meals there, and the drinks were creative and delicious. The common spaces were also amazing - a library with a desk you could work at (and the restaurant staff more than happy to bring breakfast/food to you), the lounge and bar area - so cute! The bar is awkward because it's almost under a stair well but it's usually busy.
