Brought my moped to get it checked up and see whats needs to be fixed. He said would take about 1 hr but took the whole day. I had to call every 1 hr and even come back there 3 times to see if it's ready or even any answers. I understand he can be busy. But don't be telling people gonna take an hour and plus he only had 2 moped in the shop whe I dropped it off at 10am Later on I had to call again and ask him on my status, then he tells me to go call this place in waikiki which is a rental to see if they have a certain part. I'm like wtf at first but I was being nice so I did and the he tells me to go pick it up. Went there and bought the parts and still charges me. Problems wasn't fix so I had to leave it there. Same thing happened again from about 2 more days.. asking me to call places and if they have it pick it up. This guy not once calls me to let me know the status. Only tells me when I call him every time. I think this place isn't good as the review says. I never had to be a errand boy for a place that suppose to give service. I don't know how he has a good rep. Worst service ever I had. Felt like I was working a intern or training to work. read more

I recently bought a brand new YONGFU moped. To be honest I don't know one thing about mopeds or about the best places in town to get them fixed. I referred to the handy dandy yelp reviews and noticed that this place had amazing reviews. I went online and booked an appointment (which is already a huge plus for me as I hate getting on the phone to make an appt) I was greeted with such a warm smile from Russell and felt very comfortable leaving my moped with him. It was ready right when he said he would be and I came to see my moped waiting for me in the driveway. Russell and his partner (wish I got his name he was also so wonderful) gave me a full rundown of everything I need to know and even gave me some extra pointers. My husband wanted to upgrade his engine. The guy told him he had Italian parts he would upgrade to......my husband is Japanese and his English isn't that good but he's not stupid.....the guy tried to put in parts from Taiwan, tell him it's Italian and charge him the price for Italian. My husband was ready to go ahead and get it done, but when he noticed and pointed out that the parts were from Taiwan, not Italy, the guy tried to backstep and say he had said the wrong thing, how would a professional mix up Taiwan and Italian parts? Shame because he has such good reviews and he has been good to us so far, but I guess he thought he would try to pull a fast one for some quick cash! read more

JP is a great moped repairman. He's honest, reliable, and friendly. I bought my moped from him three years ago and I've taken it to him many times since for servicing (for normal wear and tear, the moped is great quality). He's never failed to get my moped back to me on the same day, and the price of servicing is quite reasonable. My trusty moped is in great shape after three years, thanks to him. And his dog is really cute, so of course that's a plus. I would absolutely advise anyone to go to him for all your moped needs. read more

I went to the moped garage hawaii on 2122 Young St, Honolulu, HI 96826 to get a moped safety check. the bald guy ( never got his name) who seemed to be in charge and preformed the safety inspection told me after completion the total was $20. when i asked to use a debit card he told me he would have to charge me extra, but if i paid in cash he would only charge me $20. so i paid in cash. later that day i realized i was overcharged and after double checking the gov. website ( The safety inspection fee is $13.24 plus tax.) to confirm what the price should be i returned to the shop to inquire about the overcharge. the bald guy told me that is what he charges for a safety check and there was no mistake. i hate that this guy is taking money from me and other people so i made a complaint and a MOTOR VEHICLE CONTROL INSPECTOR looked into it. email from inspector below with some no essential info removed: I have investigated your complaint about Moped Garage overcharging for safety inspections. After further investigation, I have found that the Honolulu City and County Department of Customer Services website is incorrect about the moped safety inspection fee. On the website, it states that the inspection fee is $13.24 plus tax. This price has not been updated/corrected on the City and County website since the price was changed to $17.00 plus tax which makes it $17.80. This price was changed as of September 30, 2018. The set price can be found under the Hawaii Administrative rules 19-135-23(a) which states "The director shall determine the fee to be paid to the inspection station by the moped owner for the inspection of a moped. This fee shall be the same as the motorcycle fee defined in section 19-1332-22(e)(2) "Motorcycles and trailers-not more than $17.00 plus tax. After speaking to the safety inspection station manager, he claims that he informs the customer that he charges $17.00 plus tax, which comes out to $17.80, and for an additional $2.20, he will adjust tire pressure, topped off engine oil, and adjust brake which is not included in just a safety inspection. I have made it clear with him that customer's will need to be aware that they can opt to only have a moped safety inspection done and it is optional to pay the $2.20 for addition services. It seems it may have been a misunderstanding. He more than happily gave me the change of $2.20 for the moped safety inspection only. I have received the refund of $2.20 and have it here with me at my office. You are more than welcome to set up a time and date to pick it up from me from my office, or if another location is better for you, please let me know. Most amazing experience with a business I have ever had, not just on one occasion but every single time I have had the pleasure of interacting with them. I bought a used moped but it was not ready when I went to pick it up so they gave me a loaner. I picked it up my new used moped the next day but after driving it for a day, I did not like the feel of it. I called them and expressed this to them. In the state of Hawaii once you sign the papers on a moped, there is no turning back, you do not even have 24 hours to change your mind, it's yours. They were totally understanding and gave me 100% trade in on my new moped. They could have said too bad or charged me a processing fee but they didn't. They even gave me a loaner lock because the one I wanted wasn't in stock. I'm new to riding mopeds and a week after I bought it it died and would not start. They came and picked it up. Found out I ran it out gas. They filled it up and didn't even charge me a stupidity fee. It stopped running once again and they were literally there to pick me up in 10 minutes long after their shop was closed. Turns out I was out of gas again. The gas gauge was not working properly. JJ worked til 1am repairing it so I could have it the next day. They even did my first service for no charge. These are just a few of several of the amazing experiences I have with these guys. This is the second time I had to take my Bravo Sky 50 2 Stoke moped in for repairs. I got great service and the turn around time is same or next day. They gave the standard tune up and then checked out the rest of the bike fixing all the other things they noticed. Its nice to know that these guys go above and beyond in their repairs and are keeping me safe on the road. Their prices are very fair and these guys all know exactly what they are talking about. Also known as University mopeds, this place is tucked behind tropics and the Greek restaurant on University ave near campus. Bought a used moped from a friend and came here when it crapped out and started having problems. Service is affordable I paid 94 for a carb clean, replaced air box, horn fix and oil. Had the thing running smoothly. JP is really helpful but may put you off at first because he is a pretty fast talker. I quickly realized it wasn't offensive or sketchy but probably just how he operates. He is more than happy to explain to you exactly what went wrong and to give you tips and recommendations. Terrible, I went to take my 2022 breeze to get looked at because it was vandalized, I bought it less then two months ago, the guy in charged talked down to me instantly, brushed me away and basically just said sorry can't help you. I get that you're about the money but that all this shop is about, it would've been a different story if he would've at least been a little helpful on what resources I could use to get my moped fixed but like I said I was brushed off and basically belittled, I personally don't recommend buying a moped here it's more about the dollar signs if anything and not the full on service of being a shop to fully help out their customers, yes I may have mistaken the description of the warranty but that's not an excuse to just brush away your customers and treat them nice when they're buying your bikes but when they're in need you fail to help them out and then treat them like trash. Stopped in here to get oil for my old moped and met the owner J who was very friendly and had great customer service. I ended up asking him about his mopeds for sale, and he had the best prices I've seen in town. Ended up coming back a week later and buying a new moped from him. The buying process was quick and easy and he even let me test drive a few to see which one would be a good fit. My new moped even came with road side assistance. This would be a 5 star review except they caused me a huge headache with the DMV. EVERY employee at the DMV said that the dealership should have registered a brand new moped for the first time. Then the DMV couldn't find the make and model on the approved list. They also told me it was a Japanese moped but it's very much made in China. Now, besides lying to me & wasting about 2 hours of my time at the DMV, they really were excellent. Super nice, not pushy, didn't try to sell me a bunch of stuff I didn't need. These guys are amazing! My throttle rubber handle randomly came off one night - and I was able to hold it on carefully and still drive a little, but one shouldn't drive when that rubber handle keeps falling off, as it did while I was driving. I stopped into Moped Garage immediately the next morning and they were able to squeeze me in for the afternoon to put a temporary handle on so that I could drive. I had talked to them before about all the scuffs on my moped and wanting to remove the old stickers as well - and they were able to do that quickly as well! Top notch service! I had brought my moped in right before closing time and needed to get my moped fixed. Had to get a new belt, because it snapped on me the day before while I was riding. KJ and the shop crew checked out the moped and informed me what needed to be done. They even worked out an invoice to get it paid at a later date when my finances was good to pay for the moped getting worked on and fixed. After agreeing to it all, KJ got to fixing up my moped and was able to get it all good to go so I can ride it again in a short amount of time. Very disappointed. Non refundable [$75 estimate fee.] I was made aware of this fee before hand, but not before they increased the estimate by 300%. Was told cost of repairs would be around $200. Turned around and told me cost of repairs was more than $600 for a simple ignition fix. I was given the impression that my moped was totaled, but all it needed was a new ignition. I was able to go another shop, purchase $10 in parts and get my moped running the same day. I explained that I only needed my moped running again so that I can get to work, but costly cosmetic repairs were added to the estimate. The plastics are in great shape so I dont appreciate them adding this to the bill. It feels more like Money Garage. read more

This place is great! First, parking was really easy. I've never rode a scooter before and I had tons of questions before buying one. The attendant explained a couple different models to me and was really open about all the features, pros, and cons of each. He let me test drive one in the residential streets behind the shop.
