Eric is my go to guy when it comes to keeping my moped in good shape. The most recent time my moped wouldn't start because I had to leave for a bit. First Eric was patient and kind in trying to help me get it started over the phone, when it didn't work, he helped big time by meeting me to pick it up for repair. I've gone to this place three times now. They offer pick up service for a nominal fee- which was super useful when I was stranded out by the airport with a flat tire on my moped. They work pretty quickly and the pricing is reasonable. Tried calling another place and they were ten days out before they could get to my ride. This place has mine done by end of day. It happened about a month ago. My car suddenly lost its coolant, and I had to send it in to a shop. I suspected a faulty freeze plug: a relatively easy fix. I was half right. Turns out, one of the freeze plugs failed, causing the engine to overheat and the head gasket to blow. In layman's terms, it was going to cost me some serious money. The kind of money that's not worth putting into a car with the kind of mileage it had. So, here I was with no ride. The bus USED TO go from in front of my house to work until they changed the route... It's not that far a walk...30 minutes? Going to work is no problem. But coming home late at night... No, I'm not afraid of muggers; IT'S THE FLYING B-52s!! The Ala Wai is LOADED and CRAWLING with those brown, six-legged demon-creatures!! That's what prompted me to go shopping for a moped. I went to the closest shop from home - literally around the corner on McCully, but they were sold out. From there I walked a half-mile more to another shop on Isenberg which had dozens of bikes, but they seemed to be cheaply made. I walked another quarter mile to Puck's Alley but they were sold out as well.... There, I was caught in a dilemma. There's a couple more shops on Kapahulu, but do I continue walking there? Or do I turn back and head home and face the gauntlet of roaches after work? CHANCE EM. I never realized how long Date Street was.... I finally reached the Moped Company on Kapahulu, and they had 1 new bike left. I bought it because I DIDN'T WANT TO WALK BACK HOME FROM THERE. The bike worked fine the first day. The next day, it wouldn't idle so I had to constantly apply the throttle. Not good on the centrifugal clutch! The third day, it wouldn't start. Called the shop and Eric came and picked the bike up. He even gave me a lift to work! All and all, the bike has been in the shop 4 times in the last 3 months. It would be unfair to The Moped Company to say that any of this is their fault. I blame the manufacturer of the bike. Ironically, this ordeal has helped The Moped Company gain some stars. Eric is really helpful, and they promptly fix the bike no charge, as it is under warranty. Without complaint, he and his staff help me load / unload the bike in and out of my new / used van. I contemplated selling the bike, but Eric told me: "Just be patient, it needs to be broken in. If anything goes wrong, bring it back, I'll look at it." OK. Guess I'll ride it a while. At least I know The Moped Company's got my back. UPDATE: The cause was a faulty ignition plug. Changed that out and NO PROBLEM!! Been zooming to & fro ever since! Now, for the new law regarding annual registration and safety check.... read more

I brought my daughter's GTX moped here because the oil light came on and the 2-stroke engine burned up. Our fault. It was close to closing time but they picked up her moped near Iolani. I signed a sheet of paper that allowed them to do up to $200 worth of repairs without calling me back. Engine repair for a little over $100 and took two days. They also replaced some airbox bolts that were missing. Nothing funny or interesting to report. Moped broken and moped fixed in a reasonable time frame. What else can you ask for? read more

Not my first choice but my bike was running crappy and I needed it fixed before work on Monday. They were ok, coming in around $65 for a tune up including a few parts. I asked them to fix the breaks as they were super squeaky, and of course they didn't get to them. Also, got all the way home when the mechanic called to say "uhhh I forgot to screw your airbox back on." But hey they did the tune up and the bike is running much better which is all I really wanted. Still bummed about the brakes, but I'll take it somewhere else next time. They accomodated me on short notice and the prices weren't so bad. Just be careful parking on the side of Kapahulu. Some lolo tore the side mirror off my car while I was in the shop and they didn't stop to fess up, but no fowl against the Moped Co. Don't rely on these guys for a major fix, but for a last minute tune up they are all right. read more

Not sure why this place has bad reviews...I broke the back wheel of my moped a few days ago (I was an idiot and tried to start with the lock still on), and this store was a huge help. They offer to pick up the moped, fee was reasonable ($15). The guy that picked it up was super friendly, very professional, and knew what he was doing. He saw immediately what the problem was and estimated my repair for a valve stem at about $25-30 and would take about hour and a half tops. After an hour I got a phone call, the tire needed to be replaced. I already knew the tire was blown and the valve stem needed replacing, so this came as no surprise. For the new parts and labor I was quoted at 120 after the pick up fee as well. I really appreciated the phone call letting me know the difference in price and why it would be, asking my permission before proceeding past the quoted price. The repair, pick up, and phone calls combined meant I called at 430pm and was able to pick up at 6pm. So quick! When I went to pick up my moped, the lady at the register and whom I spoke to on the phone (Jessica) was so nice and helpful. Even included a couple things she noticed while fixing the bike (low brake fluid etc.). Everything was awesome, so quick, and a professional. Definitely recommend read more

Took my moped here and had a huge ordeal with them. Basically I had to keep calling and keep calling to know how my moped was doing and then finally they called and said it could no longer be fixed (which is reasonable) and they would sell it to me for parts. I wanted to know when to pick up the check and the girl on the phone said she would call me back when they would know, 5 days later no hear back, end up calling and calling to know what exactly was going on, I get a response. But overall, it was such a horrible process and they could care less about the service they are giving people. read more

They did what they said they would do. Nice people work here. Pretty quick service. I took my moped in for a new clutch assy. It was a pricey job, for a moped, but it got fixed and runs quietly. Upon replacement I lost about 5 MPH on my top speed, but at least they were cool and didn't hide it from me. They told me straight up. Oh well. Ill put some octane boost in it and do a few tweaks to try and make up the difference. They also topped off my tank and gave it a tune up and tightened the rear brakes for me. Which was much appreciated. Overall... Id give em a B. I just wish I had a little more 'get-up-and-go' like I did before I took it there. read more

I love this little shop. Might seem a little dingy from the outside but have no fear, they have everything you need for your scooter here. Most scooter places in town just sell scooters. This place actually works on them and they also stock and sell all the internal and external components for most makes and models. The girl who works the front is always super kind and helpful. The owner is just as awesome, he may seem a little stern at first, but he knows his stuff and has helped me on multiple occasions. I like tinkering with stuff, taking stuff apart and putting it back together. Without the convenience of this shop my parts would take weeks to get here thru mail. They see me at least once a week in here and have never let me down :) read more

Visited another place and was very, very unhappy with other places service. The Moped Company was my second choice, but I wish I had gone there first. They weren't the most timely, the place is in disarray with files everywhere, and they certainly weren't cheap, but you know what - they did what they said they would for the price they quoted, and when I went to pick up my bike, it worked. That's way more than I can say for other place. If I need more moped work, I'll go back there. read more

My experience with The Moped Company was positive but not with a few glitches. I had them install a bore kit, new gearing, stroker starter, rejet, and tune up. The work was done within a reasonable time for the job. Cost was more than twice as much than what was estimated but the additional parts and labor was for other things they found during the job that needed to be done to addressed safety and performance. My only recommendation is to have work authorized prior to performing work. I would have authorized the additional work, but the communication during the job was lacking. Eric is awesome and truly concern with customer satisfaction. When my moped was delivered, my kicker was slipping so he fixed it on the spot. Later the same night, my starter binded. Both these problems were cause by wrong kicker cover I had on my moped. I had an Elite S cover on a DD50 which required adjustment/modification to work.. Eric found a DD50 cover, cut the cover (my choice), and came back to my house to replace the cover....and whalla, the bike started right up using the electric and kick starter. These things were done at no charge! Awesome customer service. read more

Moped stopped running so I took it in for repairs. Evidently my belt had broke and so they had to replace it. Also they supposedly rebuilt the transmission ($350). I told them to give it a tune up as well for another $50 bucks since it was already in the shop. Well, less than a week later the moped breaks down again. SO, I take it in and evidently they needed to adjust the valves. This sounded like a relatively simple repair, but still they charged me $60 bucks for it. Thats not all. About two weeks later moped breaks down for a third time. HAHA. SO I called the Moped Doctors instead. They picked up my bike for just $5 on a Sunday, and found out that the Moped Co. had put the WRONG belt for my moped. Also they said the transmission had been tuned up, but defiantly not rebuilt. I completely feel like I gotten taken advantage of and highly recommend NOT going to the Moped CO. read more

This shop is one of the most unorganized and confusing place I have ever gone to. Don't come here if you have little knowledge of mopeds . They will take advantage of you and charge crazy prices . I bought my bike from here . The lady behind the counter, Jessica told me the ownership papers would come in the mail in 10 to 15 business days. Me , being clueless was lied to and should have received the ownership paper then and there but had to wait many months just to get it. The owner, blamed me for coming in months later for the ownership paper when Jessica , the lady behind the counter . Told me it would come in the mail. Locks usually go for less then a hundred bucks but at this place the price was way to high 116 for a lock . Seriously . I asked about the ownership the owner and another guy acted clueless to who was the previous owner of the bike . If you are a moped dealer and you have records history of previous owners of used bikes and other documents . How the hell are you not going to know who previously who owned the bike . My life took a dip after buying the moped and so did my mental health . Save yourself the confusion and go to Glenn's cycle supply on the way to kahala you will see it In its glory . My horrible experience started with the loser named Jessica who works behind the counter. She's disrespectful lazy rude and clearly hates her life. I went in asking for help regarding my moped. I asked several times nicely for someone to come out and look at my moped to help me figure out why my blinkers weren't working. After explaining the issues with my blinkers and asking again for someone to come out and take a look at the moped which is almost brand-new. She ended up selling me parts that were unneeded. This situation went from bad to worse to horrific. This chick (who clearly needs a bath) needs education and a serious reprimand. She called me every name in the book and cursed me out in front of the owner. The owner, whose name is Eric, was very nice, helpful, kind and very apologetic. He helped me figure out what was wrong with my bike, fixed it while I waited outside (because I refused to go inside). In the end, he ended up returning the parts that Jessica fraudulently sold me (knowing they were the wrong parts), he fixed the bike and apologized again. I could not understand why he did not fire her on the spot. I've never been spoken to like that by any associate of any business in my life. So if anybody goes into this business wanting to get service or purchase parts, please ask for the owner Eric. Do not deal with Jessica, again, she is a loser, pathetic, uneducated and looks homeless. read more

Don't bring your moped to this shop or you'll be sorry. This shop is extremely unprofessional in the way they treat the customers. Trying to get your moped back as soon as possible is a very foreign idea to these people. Brought in the moped just after 12 noon and by end of day, they still didn't know for sure.. Then I was told because that mechanic was going to be out the next day, it would be looked at until the day after. The last time I had brought in the moped to this company, I ended up taking the moped without it being fixed, again because they sat on it for most of the day. Not different this time, I called another company and picked up the moped without knowing the real issue. He told me it would cost $45 to have them look at it then whatever else that may be found. Since they didn't really find anything yet but took apart some pieces, he had the nerve to charge me $45 plus another $20+ to put the parts back together they had taken apart. Stay away from this place unless you know them on a personal basis, they may take better care of you then, I'm guessing. I will never, ever bring my moped there again. They had two chances with me and they messed up both with their lack of respect and lack of care for the customer. One of the worse! read more

if you are looking for quality service forget it. had a wind screen put on my scooter, it fell off on the way home. not to mention the weeks on weeks of waitting. had an alarm put on, i had.to take it back ofcourse because it didnt work. after having the windscreen fixed the screws fell out of it again. now i will take the scooters to the motorcycle dealership befause the screws came out once again. weeks upon weeks of waitting. everything i had done i had to take back because it either didnt work or fell apart. the blinking light that goes on the motorcycle and blinks to let people know it is armed with an alarm, well they never put that on at all or even mentioned it was not put on. dont call because they wont answer. i called and left a message that the windscreen feel off the scooter on my way home. monday i had to go i myself because they never answered the message i left on the machine. Top dollar prices for rock bottom service is what you will get when you go to the Moped Company. save yourself the headaches. read more

I just wanted to post my experience with The Moped Company that is contrary to previous reviews. I agree with some issues posted but Eric at the Moped Co. is truly awesome with respect to customer service. I did not like the fact that the actual cost to perform my requested service i.e. replace bore, starter, and gears was more than twice as much as what was estimated, but the"additional" services performed were needed to get my moped to run safely and to avoid subsequent issues that may have caused bigger problem and would require additional work. The issue is more of communication with the customer rather than customer service. Although there were issues that surfaced after I took possession of the moped i.e. crank kicker slipping so could not kick start, starter binded so could not use electric starter, it was caused by the wrong kicker cover that I already had on the bike. That being said, Eric fixed the slipping kicker when he delivered the moped. Eric even came back to my house to exchange my kicker cover with the one made for the moped at no charge. So my only recommendation would be to be sure they authorize any additional work required prior to performing the work. read more
