This is probably one of the best burger restaurants around. Flavor, freshness, friendliness, and speed were all 10/10. I really enjoyed Mooyah! The staff was friendly, greeting me when I came in. They explained that all burgers are 1/3 lbs patty, meaning they are a big meal by themselves! I was able to get it just the way I wanted with all the fixins on a wheat bun. I also got the regular size fries. The food came out very quickly, and my first thought was, "Dang, that's a lot of fries!" My second thought was, "that burger looks awesome!". In both cases, I was right! Fantastic burger - not over done, fresh lettuce and tomato, nicely cooked mushrooms, and good pepper jack cheese. Didn't skimp on the bacon either! It wasn't greasy at all, and the bun was fresh and not squished. The fries tasted as good as they looked, with nice skin on texture. Predictably, it was more fries than I could finish. I've seen positive food reviews for this place so I decided to try it out since I'm a Huge Burger fan! Ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger and regular fries. Burger was delivered to table and I wasn't visually impressed by any means. Burger was flat and unimpressive, barely saw the inside contents from the side of the buns. Took a bite and i most say it was a tasty burger, and cooked well. Had it been visually appealing and bigger i would have rated it much higher. Fries were good and decent amount. I was extremely disappointed with their service. I did an online order and they completely messed it up. I ordered two burgers with double patties, bacon, and onions, and they left out one patty on each and the onions on one. My son got a kids meal and they left out the shake. In addition, the fries were quite disappointing as they were soggy. On the other hand, the food tasted great. If you go there, make sure that everything is given. I was there on the second day and again today. While they had a few service issues earlier (resulting in longer wait times). The issues are now gone! Food served in a reasonable time. The burger can be build it yourself or just ask mooyah for burger + lettuce + tomato + pickles + mooyah sauce (thousand island). That is right fancy name for not so fancy burger. I ordered double cheese on white artisan bread + Apple wood bacon + avocado + lettuce + tomato + fried onion string + mooyah sauce combo small fries and medium drink which came out to be $14.56. White artisan bread is pretty good, they hold up well and have a nice chew. Applewood bacon have no applewood flavor, might as well call it thick cut bacon. Avocado were not enough in it to lend its flavor to the burger. The burger patty though is not dry it is not juicy. Let's say I did not need napkin after the meal and my finger is not oily so I can type this review without screen covered with oil. A burger should be juicy and messy, this burger is not. Sure it is better than McDonalds near by, but give me in-n-out burger over this anytime. And for almost $15 I rather drive to Umami burger for a more tasty artisan burger. I can understand why people give it 4 stars, it is friendly atmosphere. Family can bring kids to this place unlike Umami, but the food did not deserve it. By the way I am sure I will have more check in here, location is almost a walking distance to my house. This place never disappoints. I've only been here about 4x, and I forgot about it at times. But when I remember and show up, I always leave happy. Burgers are great...fresh. Fries are tasty and bountiful, and they may have some of the best sweet potato fries around being they are thinner, crunchy, and have seasoning salt on them. I recommend ordering the half/half order of fries (half of each kind). And they are huge portions. You really can't go wrong at this place. Fries are great. Burgers are really good but the onions ruin it for me. The "grilled onions" are large diced and hardly cooked and if you ask for fresh onion they put raw diced onion. Personally, onions are very important on a burger so I really want to love this place and I would if they had properly grilled onions or normal sliced rings. Id rather go to in n out. read more

I always judge a burger joint by how well its manager speaks Mandarin to me- Wait. Okay so maybe not, but that's what happened to me when I went to Mooyah. It's pretty much a build-your-own burger, with a pretty good selection of free toppings (including fried onions in addition to raw or grilled) and sauces. I was pondering my decisions when the manager popped up out of nowhere and walked me through the menu. I actually really appreciated his help, and was just about to put in my order when he stopped me and asked, "Chinese?" Fight-or-flight instantly activated: I checked my avenues of escape and noted the manager's potential weak spots before bracing myself and defensively replying "Yeah??" He smiled and started reciting the menu in Mandarin. It was then that I realized I'm in Irvine. I learned just enough Chinese in college to know he really was talking about buns and sauces, and I'm not gonna lie, his pronunciation is better than mine, so I gave dude props (albeit with my best waka flocka "Okay..." face) before finally reaching the cashier. The burger was alright. Fresh bun but the patty was kind of dry and definitely needed everything else to make up for what it lacked in flavor. They do give you a crap ton of fries if you get a combo though, so that was nice. Otherwise, I won't be eager to come back unless I need to brush up on my language skills. read more

After a recent bad experience in the restaurant my wife lowered her rating. MOOYAH responded on Yelp with an e-mail address asking us to contact them so they could "make it right". We sent them an e-mail and never got a response, followed up with another a few weeks later. Still no response. I came here on 2/10/2016 around 5pm only because i was picking up my shirts for the cleaners at the same location. What a mistake it was. And I wasn't going to write a bad review of what had happened because the manager on duty was nice about it...but even on the 2nd try...they got it wrong. Here's what happened. I ordered a Mooyah cheesbeurger and fries to go. They made a mistake by giving my order to some other guy. So the manager approached me and apologizes and gave me a free cup for soda and I waited while they cooked me another one. After about 5 -10 minutes the girl hands me my order and tells me that they added extra fries...which was very nice of them. But when I got home to eat it, I noticed it wasn't a cheeseburger, it was...i think it was either a turkey/chicken patty??? and to be honest it wasn't very good at all. I checked my reciept and it was suppose to be a cheeseburger...so they got it wrong the 2nd time. I would have gone back but it just wasn't worth the hassle it being rush hour with traffic and all. Tried it for the 1st time today. Ordered a veggie burger on line (and paid for it) but when I showed up for pick up my order was nowhere to be found. The manager was very nice & quickly took my order again after I showed him my confirmation on my phone. Stuff happens, I get it. 15 mins later I got my order only to get home and notice that no avocado was added, something I paid extra for. Didn't wreck my day, and I'll probably go back because the burger was good & better than The Counter equivalent. But, for now only 3 stars. read more
