What a beautiful tangelo!
Mary P.

I've been really fortunate to work with some of the very best people at Moon Valley Nurseries over the years and this spring has been no exception. During spring time Moon Valley Nurseries is a bit of a second home. I love checking out what they bring in for the year, as well as stocking up on any necessary supplies to get my garden ready for the scorching summer. On a recent visit to the nursery, William helped me stock up on my mulch and fertilizer. Service was excellent and he brought everything to the car. This week I had a delivery of a few plants that I had the nursery staff pick out for me, organized by LP and Quent. The plants were above and beyond my expectations in every way. I received a desert gold peach and it looks so healthy - I can't wait until it starts fruiting. The Santa Rosa Plum looks great, but as expected a little dormant at this time of a year. The chuparosa, a desert must for attracting hummingbirds was a perfect low water choice in our climate. Last but not least.. and my most favorite of all - the tangelo. Gorgeous tree, absolutely cannot wait to see this one take off. Tim and crew came to plant within the allowed window, and again service was beyond my expectations. Tim was so professional and made sure everything was done right, my trees were staked, the crew watered and cleaned up after. I've worked with Tim before and he and his crew delivers consistent high quality service and planting. I think the only thing that could make my Moon Valley Nurseries visit better is to do some sales on fertilizers/moon juice from time to time. I know they used to do buy 2 get one free and buy 3 get one free, but I haven't seen one in ages. These sales are always greatly appreciated by my plants!

Staff at Moon Valley Nurseries are very well informed. The nursery focuses on large greenery for the garden and yard. If you choose something large, they will come and plant it for a charge. That's especially nice if the plant is heavy and big. We had some questions on a specific tree in our yard. We talked with staff about our issue. They were happy to talk with us about this. If you're looking for large trees and plants, this is the place. Parking right outside the building.

Southern Live Oak

We've bought two trees and several cacti from Moon Valley over the past couple of years -- and they've earned our complete trust. Prices might be a bit higher than elsewhere, but the quality, selection, and service make it more than worth it. The Tatum location is beautiful and inspiring just to walk through. Today's delivery crew, led by Joey DeSilva, was outstanding -- friendly, professional, and made sure I knew exactly how to care for our new Southern Live Oak. They really treat customers right. We'll be back for another tree soon!

Our New Navel Orange. About 15 years old and already bearing fruit.

Andy was so very knowledgeable and able to provide us answers so that we could make the decisions we needed to make on a citrus tree best for us. Then the crews that came out to dig the hole and then plant it were extremely professional and reminded us on how to care for the tree in the immediate as well as the future. Love this place.

Aloe Tree

I purchased a few plants including an Aloe tree. I will only review the Experience of the arrival and attempt of this tree. when the tree was unboxed and ready to plant the Forman of the team told me in true concern that the tree was rotten at the roots and could not be planted. He would report it and moon would find me another. I had to chase down the manager hoping for a solution. I was passed around until I insisted on a refund. This was a very expensive tree and I should have not had to chase moon for an answer. I received a survey from moon to share my experience. I gave them the lowest score possible and was told I would get a free gallon of moon Juice liquid fertilize. Apparently they did not like my survey answers because I never got the fertilize. salesman was very helpful on the sale of the trees but he never got back to me and the rest of management couldn't care less.

Everytime I come to this location I am instantly welcomed! It doesnt matter who helps me, all the employees here are packed full of knowledge, and they are so quick to share it! There is so many plants to choose from, which makes it tough to decide what to get! When you purchase plants from Moon Valley you get a good deal on the plant, and an almost unlimited well of knowledge!

At Moon Valley, we worked with Sofia and Kelly for design and Johnny and crew for planting. I cannot say enough about the professionalism and years of experience they have. They completely changed our back yard. The trees are spectacular and working with everyone has been such a wonderful experience that I will NEVER use any other company!!!

Thank you Michael for all your help on our dark pink oleander tree. Turned out beautiful.

They have a great selection of all kinds of trees as well as fruit trees. I wanted one lemon tree, one orange tree, one peach tree and one plum tree. Jason explained all the different varieties of each. I chose a Meyer lemon tree, one Cara Cara orange tree, one Desert Gold peach tree and one Santa Rosa plum tree. I also spoke with Barb about the care of all the trees, she took the time to give me detailed care explanations on each tree. That really help and she really knows a lot about plants and trees. The crew that delivered and planted the trees were very prompt, skilled and polite. I am very pleased with my whole experience with Whitfill nursery. From the price of the trees to the level of customer service I received. Everyone I interacted with from the time I walked onto the their property to the delivery and the planting of the trees are wonderful. Thank you! Whitfill Nursery.

I shouldn't need to walk all the way back up front to ask -- and I've been giving the wrong information before anyhow. Its important to know what kind of plant you're buying for multiple reasons. The other Whitfill location (off Guadalupe and Cooper) doesn't have this issue. Overall I think the plants are pretty healthy but after having an issue with lack of labeling (on both the kind of plant and pricing), having been given the wrong plant info on a plant, and after having asked if they had Pink Fairy Duster and being sent off in a direction to wander and never find it on my own, I'm really over this location.

I found the layout of the whole nursery very confusing and disorganized. I looked around a bit, but found a lot of the fruit trees weren't looking their best with a few half dead ones or odd shaped ones. I was looking for a desert milkweed and they had one hidden behind some other stuff. It was a single sprig hanging out of a pot. I gave up and left to continue my journey elsewhere.

In the greater Phoenix metro, many nurseries are no longer independent operators, but North Scottsdale Nursery and Cactus remains an old-school place. You'll see giant saguaros for sale along with rows of ocotillo which they keep planted in the ground and not bare root (and probably dead), like you'll find at Home Depot and Lowe's. If you buy one here you can at least tell if it is alive and has leaves or not -- although for a plant that looks hardy, ocotillos are notoriously hard to transplant and at least 2/3 of them do not survive. You have to plant them then wait a year and try again until you get lucky or run out of patience. They will optionally deliver and put your plants in the ground for you for a flat rate of $200 if you are within delivery range.

It wasn't the closest location for us, but it turned out to be the best decision we could have made. There was zero sales pressure, and we were fortunate to meet Jeffrey Peters. He gave us a thorough education on the trees we were considering and helped us understand what would work best in our yard. The tree we loved was a little outside our budget, but Jeffrey worked with us and negotiated a price that made us very happy. The delivery and installation team from the 7th Street location were equally impressive. Eric and his crew were prompt, courteous, professional, and efficient. They walked us through everything--from placement to the watering and care schedule--making sure we were completely comfortable before they left. We were so pleased with the entire experience that we ended up purchasing even more!
