I visited the nursery to find house plants to replace some that didn't make it. :-/ The grounds are filled with outdoor plants, and there's a greenhouse filled with house plants. And to my surprise, Ms. Rebecca Whitfill extended an invitation to tour the nursery!! Oh boy, was I excited! We hopped into a golf cart, and off we went. She showed me a variety of trees and landscaping needs. Ms. Rebecca also shared the history of the nursery. What a treat! So adorable and friendly. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. I left with plenty of plants, tips, and memories! Accessible entrance.

On the recommendation of a friend, I visited Whitfill's in North Phoenix about two weeks ago. I have been on a hunt for some nice-looking pots. Most places I had been to had just a few colors (white, blue, terracotta), but as I drove by last week, I saw an array of colorful pots. Taking that friend's advice, I went back and was not disappointed. I purchased three pots, and the staff could not have been more helpful. Bonus points for their ability to deliver, which I have discovered is not commonplace. Frank walked the pot area with me and tagged everything for delivery. Knowing they soon would be delivering my pots, I thought now was the time to purchase the shade tree I have been wanting. So, last week I went back to Whitfill's. Billy took me around the lot and gave me some great advice. After talking with him, I decided against my original plan and went with a different tree. Aside from what appears to be a genuine willingness to help their customers, they appear to be a full-service nursery, as when they deliver everything, they are going to plant the tree and the one vine I purchased. Knowing it will be done right and that they stand behind their product/work is reassuring. Today, the pots, vine, and tree were delivered and planted. The crew could not have been more helpful. They were thorough, placed everything where I wanted them, and explained the care for my tree. And, they cleaned everything up! They have an incredible selection of flowers, potted plants, vegetables, herbs, and succulents. They appear to have it all, plus everything you need to plant and maintain your garden. I have not had great luck in the past with a number of nurseries, but I think I have found a winner! And, based on the number of people that were there today, so have others.

    Signage, but also, hilarious.

Excellent nursery with excellent prices. They have herbs, veggies, fruit trees, indoor plants, outdoor plants, shrubs, flowers, vines, etc. They have it all. It's a huge nursery. If you need help, there is staff on hand. I bought a 1 gallon Star Jasmine for $18, mind you it's 4ft tall! It's like a little tree. Impressive pricing. They also have pots, mulch, glass hummingbird feeders (bought one!) among other things. But don't take my word for it, come and have a look! They have their own parking lot which is nice so you don't have to worry about parking.

I really like this nursery. It's been a tradition for a several years to get a Christmas tree here. They have a free hot chocolate, popcorn, candy canes and cookies to enjoy while selecting your tree. However, this year the cheapest tree started at $149. Last year I remember trees starting at $119. I understand some years trees go up in price due to environmental conditions. However, the next day I was at Lowe's and saw a very equivalent fresh trees for less than $100. I really like the Christmas tree buying experience at Whitfill. Yet, next Christmas I will look at Lowe's first.

Best place to get your starter veggies. Love going here with my grandkids and the staff is always super friendly and helpful

    Seeds? They have seeds!

Whitfill is a LONG time Phoenix family nursery. Their selection and knowledgeable staff make this a reliable place to fill your garden, decorate for Christmas, and plant a tree that will be a lifetime addition to your home. I bought a Chinese Pastiche for my kids house today. It will be shading their house for the next two generations. Their pricing is on the high side, but your are paying for good quality and service here at Whitfill

This is a nice tree, and no olives!

great trees, great staff, even greater value for the money spent. I highly recommend Paul at Witfill Nursey to guide you towards your planting goals!!

Farm truck in the front for a nice photo op (there is a bench to the right to sit on as well)

My brother and sister in law were on the hunt for a Christmas tree and wanted to shop more locally (and not in a parking lot). My kids and I were happy to tag along since we are regretfully part of the artificial tree club. Whitfill was a wonderful experience! There was hot cocoa and popcorn to snack on while wondering through fresh wreaths, poinsettias, centerpieces, and lots of really beautiful trees. The selection was incredible. The trees were available in all sizes (height and width) to fit any sized space. They also smelled amazing. Being from the Pacific Northwest but having lived here the last 20+ years, I always love a walk through the aromatic trees. It must be even more magical at night with all the lights on. Once you pick a tree, someone will help you with a cart and take the stand off. We watched them chainsaw off the bottoms of the trunk to make them nice and level and then take them out to people's car. All the employees we interacted with delightful. The woman giving out the LED candy canes was a doll. She did tell my boys not to fight each other with them but, let's be honest, they could resist. Not her fault. I think every kid I saw jabbed someone else with one of those things. They are meant to spike into the ground or in a yard, but it was too tempting for kids not to use it like a weapon. I think getting them in the daytime made them feel more toy like because they didn't light up (also didn't come with batteries). The part that actually bothered me was that people who received the candy canes just took the tags off and left them all over the ground. Why ruin such a beautiful place when there are trash cans all around? We also walked the rest of the property and saw the parrots and peacocks. The greenhouse felt like a jungle and the kids really got a kick out of the raptor in the tall plants. Will definitely be recommending to anyone looking for a Christmas tree, holiday decorations, or all my green thumbs friends all year long.

I heard yelled out from the backseat. "Ok, kid, let's stop in to get a bigger pot to move your plant into. I swear all I wanted was a new pot for our indoor plant, but when you're there you remember that 15 gallon planter that's been sitting empty on your front porch, the potting soil you'll need to fill the new pot to replace the old, and a plant to go into it. Sure, I looked confused and lost and that's probably what clued Gina in on asking if she can drive us around in her golf cart and show us (but mostly my kid) all the plants, the bunnies that have made the fruit bearing tree section of Moon Valley Nursery their home, the birds that flock to their trees and all the different plants you could really ever want both indoor and out. "Daaamn Gina..." (is what was replaying in my mind on a loop, but I not dared to say out loud - throwback to 1990's Martin Lawrence sitcom, Thursdays on Fox) Had I never met you Gina, I would have probably found my new pot and made my way home having only the *one thing to do, but no, you had to go answer *all of my hundred questions about what plant will be good on my porch, no I don't want to attract bees to my front door, maybe something that won't grow taller than the ceiling of my porch, so those cool looking fruitless olive bushes are out, but boy do I wish I could put one there. So yes, as you may have already surmised, I left with our new pot, a bag of potting soil, a rosemary plant (because rosemary is actually a detractor for most insects and you can get fresh rosemary for your meals to boot) as well as a jug of their moon juice fertilizer. So... It's crazy how expensive this new pot for the rubber plant was $140, but look at all this other "free" stuff that came with it, right?!?!?... right?!?!?... Please don't tell my accountant that I spent too much on plants again. Well Gina, you were certainly wonderfully helpful, you answered every question I had and a few others I didn't, you made our visit more like an adventure through the nursery and helped me finish two projects with one visit. Whomever at Moon Valley Nursery is responsible for having hired Gina, you made wonderful choice!

Not only do we go to them during the holidays but rely on them throughout the year when we need additional plants and trees for our backyard. We first started using Whitfill back in the early 2000's when they were on 40th street south of Roeser. We literally lived across the street from their nursery and when they moved to their current spot on Southern we followed! We have decades of photos with our boys standing next to the tree they choose for Christmas and the tradition continues now with our Sphynx cats! They used to have a peacock walking around but unfortunately he is no longer there. They are pet friendly and we are comfortable taking our cats there in the stroller. Not only are their prices and tree selections the best in town but their customer service and knowledge of anything tree related is vast! They know what they are doing and don't try to upsell or get you to buy unnecessary items. They are the real deal!

I shouldn't need to walk all the way back up front to ask -- and I've been giving the wrong information before anyhow. Its important to know what kind of plant you're buying for multiple reasons. The other Whitfill location (off Guadalupe and Cooper) doesn't have this issue. Overall I think the plants are pretty healthy but after having an issue with lack of labeling (on both the kind of plant and pricing), having been given the wrong plant info on a plant, and after having asked if they had Pink Fairy Duster and being sent off in a direction to wander and never find it on my own, I'm really over this location.
