Spent a morning wandering through Dig It Gardens in downtown Phoenix, and it was a relaxing escape. Houseplants, outdoor plants, surprisingly good prices, and a whole community of neighborhood kitties roaming the garden thanks to the care they give the local feral cats. Stopped by their pop up coffee cart, Stroll Coffee, for a matcha and I also picked up a few adorable air plants and wood at a great fair price. Stopped by Dig It Gardens mostly out of curiosity to explore their selection and see what they had going on. I told myself I wasn't going to get anything unless something truly called out to me... and, well, it happened. A Nanouk caught my eye (and heart), and now it's settling in at home with me. Their outdoor plant selection is broad and vibrant, though I'm not the best at keeping outdoor plants happy, so I admired from afar. Inside, the houseplant section had a good mix of some plants you see often, but also a few rare and interesting ones I don't usually come across, including some unique philodendrons and a couple pothos. The indoor area is on the smaller side, so when it gets a little crowded, it can feel a bit tight... that's probably my only minor critique. That said, the overall vibe was welcoming. I appreciated being greeted when I came in and then left alone to browse when I mentioned I didn't need help. That balance matters. The prices were fair as far as my knowledge in cruising through plant aisles and sections. Nothing unreasonable from my perspective. I'm glad I stopped in, and I'd definitely come back once I and my new Nanouk get to know each other a bit more. All in all, a peaceful and worthwhile plant stop. read more

Don't let the local charm fool you! My wife and I unfortunately did. We contacted Dig It to do a little landscaping facelift in our front yard. Communication was difficult from the start and the final estimate ended up coming up well over a thousand over our budget. We also never actually saw a drawing or layout for the project. But we trusted Dig It to execute what we discussed and proceeded to our regret. We didn't get many of the plants listed in the project description (we got a lot of overpriced lantana instead, which we never wanted). We were also charged for plants that we never even received and double charged for relocating plants. And the end result was essentially a smattering of plants in seemingly random spots all over the front yard. It looked okay but not for what we paid. Essentially, there was little if any aesthetic coherency to the end result. Then several plants died within six months. These issues were all promptly brought to Dig It's attention and we then promptly got the run around. After finally getting some answer, there was first a dispute about what was reimbursable, but we finally settled on a number for a refund. They also agreed to replant some of the dead plants, as they were warrantied, once it cooled down. Well, here we are fourth months after it began cooling, and many unanswered emails later, and nothing. Ghosted. No refund, no replanting, and even more dead plants. Now I have to find the time to file a breach of contract claim in the small claim Justice courts. I'm sure they're banking on us giving up. Anyway, save yourself the hassle and just avoid this place. Their retail plants are wildly overpriced too. Makes Whitfill's look like a steal. read more

I love to go to plant stores and this place has the most healthy pristine plants I have ever seen. Super cute plant shop in Phoenix.. I've been a fan of their instagram account for some time now and decided during the Covid19 shutdown I would book an appointment and finally pay them a visit.. I was greeted with a sanitized garden cart and allowed to roam freely after being given the lay of the land .. headed to the indoor plant area and pretty quickly landed on a money tree and a couple of other beauties.. and of potting soil I headed over to the pot area where I picked a couple that would match the plant and my home decor .. Since it was my first time I roamed around to get ideas for future outdoor /container projects .. loved this little plant oasis in the middle of the hustle & bustle of the busy city surrounding it As I checked out I asked for advice on keeping my new babies alive and they were super helpful in their explanation.. Now I don't know much about plants but this place really impressed us. Lots to chose from and a really cool vibe overall. Staff is incredibly friendly and willing to help you out with questions. They also have custom design services available. We came in to do one of their succulent classes, with a skull base in honor of Halloween. Tickets go quickly but are reasonably priced and we had an awesome time. After getting an intro about the nursery and it's beginnings, we also covered some succulent basics as far as growing and caring for them. Then we got to pick our succulents! It was recommended we chose three for the arrangement. They had a variety of types for us to chose from, then we potted them to our liking. The class was only about an hour, not expensive and a great experience. I would definitely return if I was looking for anything plant related in the future, and will likely return if I accidentally kill these succulents (I am no green thumb.) read more

I dig it! After my first visit I "dug it" so much that I came back the very next day with company. I also came back the very next day because I let my plant sit in the car too long and ruined it. No worries. There was one more left. Score! The selection of indoor plants here is really nice. There's a huge variety of small, medium and large indoor plants. I purchased a hanging spider plant as an engagement present for my friends, 1 floor plant (Peace Lily) for my home and a small table plant for my home as well. I purchased them a little over a month ago and they're all doing so well right now. There were lots of really, really cool pots as well. I can't say enough good things about this shop and their incredible team. From the moment I stepped in the door, I was greeted with friendly faces and welcoming words. The staff (Savannah was the person who worked with me the most, but all other staff was just as willing to help) was attentive, offered expert advice on plant selection and care, answered every single one of my questions (I had A LOT), and helped me pick out about 5 new plants to add to my collection. The extensive selection, quality, and pricing of their inventory was truly outstanding; I took a few pictures of the indoor shop, but the pictures really don't do it justice. There were so many hidden gems and such a wide variety of plants that it took me over an hour just to pick the ones coming home today. Update: 6/8/2022 I was told by Alex to keep the plants somewhat moist during the summer as it's so hot and nick referred me to soil without asking what plants I had so in turn, the soil holds water, which based off my research it not what the plants thrive in. Reading about one plant, I need a sandy soil and that's opposite of what I was told to buy. I was told tanks green potting soil would be helpful to keep my plants alive and now that they've been planted in the soil they're doing terribly. I asked questions because I'm trying to learn the Arizona climate and I feel like I was deceived a bit in the care of these plants so I'm fairly disappointed. I do not currently have a job so I couldn't afford to buy these but thought it would bring me some mental clarity while I search but now I feel like all I did was waste $70 here. They have quite the collection. For house plants, it's actually better in variety than Whitfall and much better than Moon Valley. Some of the prices are high, some aren't. Some of the pots are high, some aren't. The pots that are a bit high are of very good quality and are much more amenable to interior spaces vesus the over-glazed selection at Whitfall or The Green Goddess. They also have a few rare plants that I've never seen anywhere in the Valley. I had a few questions about some plants I was trying to source, and the guy up front was very knowledgeable and helpful. This location was too overpriced for me, knowing that there's way cheaper ones in Cali and around Arizona. It was a pretty nursery though, and the dog was very cute. I left empty handed. They also have a cool, indoor area for those looking to make little terrariums, purchase artisan/special pots, and become an air plant parent. I went to Dig It Gardens as a total gardening noobie and came out with some great plants! I got cilantro, lemon verdena, snapdragons, marigolds, succulents, and cacti. They are all (with the exception of cilantro, which is a user error, I'm sure) thriving in my backyard, a month later. I've been looking for a specific plant for months without success. I've been to many garden centers large and small. I did find, online, a propagated option rooted and ready to plant, however, very expensive and having to wait for delivery and hope that it's healthy and not damaged in transport. I saw Dig It Gardens mentioned in an Instagram story. I called them to see if they had the size I was looking for, and put me in touch with Alex who emailed me right away. He went out of his way to accommodate my request and for an amazing price. Alex got my plants ready, emailed me an invoice that I was able to pay right there in the email and then had me head over to pick up the plants. The plants are beautiful and healthy with new leaves on each plant. I'm not a business that would bring them big money. I'm not a homeowner who had a large landscaping job for them. I'm just someone who really wanted this plant and they went above and beyond to get it for me and treated me as if I were a high dollar account. Dig It Gardens is like being in a secret garden and an art show all in the same place. It's definitely an experience. Right now you can book a 30 min appointment and you have the whole place to yourself along with customer service. The minimum spend is $25 and definitely worth the opportunity to lose yourself for 30 min and forget the craziness that's going on around us while supporting a small local business. read more
