    beautiful fragrant magnolias

Great selection of plants! Paul was very helpful and patient with all of our questions. They also have a frequent flyer stamp card if you buy several plants for a future discount.

A beautiful garden center with beautiful product....hibiscus lasted thru the summer...helpful employees....always a pleasure....

Customer relationship skills are completely lacking, highly unprofessional and I will no longer be shopping at a business that has such little regard for their dedicated customers. I have purchased 14 plants and 1 tree at Richards as well as 5 bags of their 'mulch'. I make the trip which is a ways from my home to spend my money at their independent business. Recently I took home a plant that when I got it home had not been watered for some time. It was bone dry to the bottom of the 5 gal container. I soaked it for a day before planting it, even then the soil all fell away from the roots and it went into shock. Weeks later I took my receipt and photos to Richards to ask them about it, "Paul" insinuated I was confusing the ailing plant with a plant I had purchased somewhere else? It couldn't have been one of theirs. Decided to give the plant more time to 'recover'. Two months past, went back again, this time spoke with "Adam", (receipt and photos) as the plants seem to be dying more instead of getting better or staying somewhat the same. His response was "Anyone could come in with photos of a plant they got anywhere....just because you have a receipt".....Another employee chimed in to say "once you take it home, we aren't responsible for how you plant it". I have purchased many plants from them, this is the only one I've had an issue with yet they refused to take any ownership for the situation. Placed blame squarely on their 'assuming' I didn't know what I was doing. Though everything else I have is doing well, which I showed them photos of my other plants. Then Adam stated "Well, we can't just give you a new plant". We are talking a $40. plant. After having spend as much money as I have at their store they had zero interest in keeping me as a customer! Twice they tried to infer I was trying to 'pull something' over them? Customer relationship skills are completely lacking, highly unprofessional and I certainly will not be going back to Richards. Nor recommending them, also will make a point of sharing my experience with every person I can.

Great place to get a nice selection of trees, much better than the bigger names and for a good price.

Moon Valley Nurseries - Costco Meyer Lemon Tree planted Feb 2019

    Moon Valley Nurseries

I wasn't going to write a review but every time I go outside to my front patio I am reminded of…read moreabout this terrible purchase decision with Moon Valley on N. 7th Street. Everyone on our street recommended this place for a lemon or orange tree. On our visit in 2019, we toured the rows of trees and selected one, and arranged a delivery date and planing. We were told it was on sale... at half price. We spent a ridiculous amount of money $2500K + to have this orange tree planted which they chose where to plant on our property. That was February 2019. We also purchased two Meyer Lemon trees from Costco that we're in 5 gallon planters the same time for around $25 each. They were super small but healthy plants. We planted them ourselves in the East facing side of our yard. This location is not shaded so much. Fast forward to November 2023: One Costco Lemon tree survived, one did not mostly because of the summer heat. Now for the orange tree we call the money pit or sometimes the Linus Christmas tree, it is pathetic looking. It looked good for about 9 months and once it was exposed to the harsh sun in summer started to fade away. We purchased extra monthly care which was not really helpful and continue to by their Moon Juice but seriously this thing just can't seem to grow. You can see from the pictures that the nursery tree is hardly hanging on after almost 3 years. We did not have our patio paved when it was first planted and it still looked just like this since then. We have had the care team look at it with no real expert advise (which is what we thought we were paying for). In comparison to the $25 Costco lemon tree... it grows like a weed, we cut if back in the spring. It produced maybe 8 lemons in 2020. But now its in the third year and it has produced around 40-50 lemons which will be ready by Jan-Feb 2024. Long story short, Save your money... go elsewhere than Moon Valley. They do not provide expert advice on their trees, just want you to purchase more "warranty" and Moon Juice. Total waste of almost $3K and a major lesson learned. NEVER Ever will buy from this place again. **I want to purchase another Costco tree to replace it but my husband wants to continue giving it a chance. So I regress.

Moon Valley is great. I have been going to them for a couple of years now. I have bought a Cedar…read moreElm, a pomegranate tree as well as several Globe Mallow. When shopping they walked me around the entire lot, we looked at tons of trees all the while explaining everything about them. You can tell they really know their stuff. I off hand mentioned growing a Hong Kong Orchid from seed, and the staff I was working with named the three scientific varieties of the Hong Kong Orchid, told me because it was from seed, it was this specific type and talked about how when it flowers, the petals will be a softer hue of purple. I did have to make use of their tree warranty. Which was great. My front yard struggles to accept new life. When my first tree got sick, they sent out an arborist to check what was going on, provided materials to help the tree. Although, the tree did not get better, the replacement process was super easy. They talked me through different trees that would be better suited to my soil conditions, suggested something native, and we decided upon the Arizona Ash. The staff spent several minutes inspecting all the Ash trees they had and helped me pick out the best one :)
