Gorgeous, expansive nursery with indoor and outdoor vignettes. Hubs and I enjoyed shopping and walking while waiting for an appointment a block away. It's peaceful and pleasant. We were asked if we needed help a few times by friendly staff. They've got everything here from garden decoration and pots to plant nutrients to edible and ornamental plants and soils. Creative displays. Large private parking lot. Easy entry and no stairs. read more

I love to shop at this nursery. I have had really good luck with their flowers in the past. I have planted a couple trees as well. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable too. Prices are decent and no high pressure sales people to drive you nuts like their competitors. read more

The selection of plants was amazing. I was greeted and offered assistance by several staff members. If you have never been here you must visit! read more

Nice, clean and well organized set-up. Employees are both friendly and knowledgeable. Pricing is not bad and definitely much, much more reasonable than Moon Nurseries (don't get me started on Moon!). SummerWinds was a recent discovery for me as I just moved to the Valley from out-of-state and to this point everyone always told me to go to Moon Nurseries . . . but no more. We purchased quite a lot of plants for both inside and outside along with various potting and cactus soils receiving great advice, suggestions and information from their staff. We've already returned and made additional purchases. Wish they were located closer to us, but we will still return. read more

Very, very easy to find what I needed and the soil mixes are fresh and as promised. I needed an acidic mix of my blueberries (you do NOT want to try to grow them in Phoenix dirt lol). Friendly staff helped me find that pink bag I needed easily. The plants are healthy and well-organized. The checkout area is easy. The heavy/duty carts are clean. The lawn/garden ornaments and hardscape items are pricy, but I won't complaint here! read more

Such a great nursery - beautiful, well organized, excellent selection and wonderful customer service. I did ask for help as I had specific questions but I was helped quickly by a very friendly person. I appreciate that someone is not following me around asking if I have questions and bugging me. Let me look around without someone on my back. If you need help, ask and you will receive help quickly! I thought they were very knowledgable and the prices were quite reasonable. I will continue to shop here. Senior discount on Wednesday which was a pleasant surprise! read more

Great selection of all kind of plants. We come here for our herbs and vegetables that you rarely see elsewhere. They're my number one place to go for beneficial bugs for our garden. Love that they're dog friendly too! read more

I had a problem with a plant that died. The manager authorized a credit (I had the original receipt) and gave me information about dealing with new plantings for next time. Now that's excellent customer service. read more

I spent an hour looking for one plant. Not very helpful. many employees but all ignored the customers. Priced higher then big box store

Summer winds has consistently provided excellent plants, shrubs and trees over the years. Tyler was so informative. Also we had Love Garden Care for planting our two trees. Ian and Bronson were so full of great information and helped us with the irrigation as well. read more

I come to a nursery, as opposed to Home Depot or Lowes, because I am expecting a higher level of knowledge and advice regarding the proper care and maintenance of my plants. When I asked for that advice I was told that legally he could not provide it. If the plant should die then he could be held responsible for the plants demise. But wait, these are your plants!! If they die then you will be out $ to replace them under warranty. I can get this same level of service from HD and Lowes so why do I need to pay more money for the plants if I am going to get the same "I don't Care" attitude? read more

Wonderful nursery! Friendly and helpful staff, special shout out to Ryan for helping me choose a peace lily and even potting it for me.

They had a great selection and the staff was helpful. I will be back for more of my plant needs in the future.

Every time I go the checkout service is extremely rude. I had to have a price check on a plant with no tag and the lady that came up was even ruder than the checkout! I spend a lot of money in this store and do not appreciate this kind of treatment. Should be a happy place! I would like to acknowledge a gentleman that helped me find a plant was very helpful and couldn't be nicer. read more

Helpful informative service. Great selection of just about anything you need for your yard or garden.

I always enjoy shopping here. Customer service is great and I always go home with a great plant or two!!! read more

The only reason I'm not giving 5 is because it is pricey. I had such a nice nice time walking around. The nursery is beautiful! Pottery is hot and miss on prices, some decent others very expensive, however a good mix of different styles I haven't seen at other places. The cashier was friendly, but no one offered to help while I was searching for my house plant. I finally found a plant I've been wanting for months! A polka dot begonia!! It was in good condition... $40 however. Pretty pricey. The pot really matched the style where I was placing it, but it was $15. I would go back again looking for exotic house plants. Also has a large selection of outdoor cactus. read more

This is a great nursery! The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Selections are great. The only negative is price. I believe a bit on the high side but they do guarantee for 1 year. read more

I called in am and asked if they had red oleanders. The associate had someone check ; they have 5 gallon red oleanders for $30. When I arrived they were $49. I asked if they would honor first price of $30, I also asked if I could talk to the manager, they said she went home: another associate said we can't help you. I drove all the way to this store and they were not able to help me , the customer. read more

If there was 0 stars, that's what I would pick. I came here from home depot thinking they would know more and with 7 people walking around doing nothing that work here. Not 1 person offered to help me. I looked confused, went back-and-forth back and forth. I just don't like their level of customer service. It seems like they don't care about their customers. I can spend my money. Elsewhere don't bother coming here if you need help. Also the prices here were double for the same plant at home depot read more

I've been here a few times and love this nursery. The section and prices are very reasonable. The people who work there couldn't be any kinder or more helpful. Anytime I'm in that area I always stop by just to look and always end up buying something. They have nice decorations, specialty gifts and unique plants. Service, selection & value is 5 star read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. For the most part the plant selection is awesome. Prices can be on the high side but I'd be ok with that if the service and education was better. For the most part when I flag down one of the employees in the actual plant area I get decent info when I ask. Today was the first time in 6 visits that someone asked me if I wanted help or information. It was Justin and he actually asked me twice, and was a great resource. The employees at the cashier station don't tend to be very helpful, friendly or knowledgeable, to the point that it makes it a very off putting experience. Will most likely return at some point, but I have to say I get treated better at Home Depot, which seems rather odd. read more

This is a really nice mid sized nursery that carries a variety of plants. I wish they had a larder selection of indoor but what they do have is great for beginners. I love that they have a guarantee on their plants. We bought a lemon tree which was very reasonably priced. I definitely appreciate the customer service. I purchased a monstera deliciousa last summer which is taking over my whole room. (In the best way possible). I have a zebra plant that is not as beginner friendly but she has done really well for me. And I've been gifted plants from summer winds which I love such as a Chinese evergreen. We are planning to landscape our yard more and we will definitely use some of their beautiful options. I also love that they offer fox farms soil. read more

This was my first stop at SummerWinds Nursery and trust me when I say - it will not be my last. Holy horticulture do these guys know what they're talking about! I actually fully intended to stock up on some Buxus japonica's for the little zen garden I am creating in our backyard, but the interwebs has steered me wrong. Care of the Buxus genus has offered nothing more than confusion and wrong turns everywhere I've looked on the internet. Depending upon the site you visit, some say FULL SUN while others say PARTIAL SHADE. Some say drown the shit out of it (in not so many words) and some say - hardy and drought tolerant! Some say prefers clay soil while others state it prefers a more acidic soil. Thankfully, Ryan at SummerWinds set me straight and since he lives in our great state of Arizona and is the manager of this joint, I'm going to go out on a limb and say the dude knows what he's talking about. Instead of spending $60 on a few Buxus japonica's only to watch them die a slow, fiery death in our sunshine - I opted to go with a few Ilex vomitoria's per his recommendation which I planted adjacent to my Crape Myrtle. I did a quick search online while at SummerWinds this morning and see the Ilex vomitoria's are another popular species utilized in Japanese zen gardens. Since they're hardy enough to withstand the arid weather of Arizona, I believe these will fit the bill nicely! I shall be back for my Myoporum parvifolium! read more

I love this place. We live in west Surprise and drive out here every couple weeks just to walk around and buy random plants. Awesome staff and easy to shop. If there is anything you can't find they are happy to help order it or let you know if it's already on the way ect. Highly recommend visiting. Also there is a lady who sells honey out front on the weekends... absolutely delicious and I don't usually like honey. read more

At first glance, the property looks nice. Full of plants. Once inside the plants are in sad shape. Not sure why. I saw staff watering. Went in looking for a lime tree. Went through the citrus plants and couldn't find what we were looking for. We asked a sales rep and the response was, "there are many kinds of lime trees and don't know the names, so just look at what we have and chose from there." If the reps don't want to understand what the customer is looking for then the business probably doesn't need my money. read more

They pretty much have everything and can ID any plant you bring in a stem and leaves from when u tell them how tall it is. Excellent customer service and a great place to buy trees. They will plant them 4 u at a reasonable fee and give u advice as to how they will amend the soil because planting trees in the desert is no easy task read more

This place is great! The staff is knowledgable and caring, their selection is amazing, and they seem to actually care about the product that they sell. For the first couple of months I was in Arizona I went to Moon Valley Nurseries (please avoid this place). Moon Valley is essentially a used car dealership for plants. The staff is 100 percent focused on selling, and thats it. Everything is an upsell as well, it definitely has that car salespeople vibe when you go in. After being off-put by this I decided to check out Summer Winds. Not only are their prices extremely reasonable compared to Moon Valley, but the quality is great, their return and replace system is phenomenal (replace any plant you buy if something happens, no questions asked), and the staff is very helpful and seems like they genuinely want to help, not just sell you something. I'll definitely be going to Summer Winds to get our trees and citrus this Fall! read more

I always enjoy my visits here. It's wide open, with lots of space and a huge selection. The plants are always in good shape. The employees are clearly happy to be here and always help a lot. If they can't immediately find something for you, they will hunt it down and ask others. The prices are decent too! Plants vary from small outdoor shrub types, to flowers, to food. The selection of food plants has great variety and many were already producing berries/flowers. read more

I will always come here. Can they always beat the prices of the bigger corporations? No. But that's easily made up for in their knowledge, customer service and no stress returns. Every time I come in I learn something new and am amazed at how knowledgeable the staff is. I just left with multiple solutions to an aphid problem we've been battling for weeks. I recommend this place to anyone who asks about AZ nurseries and always look forward to the next time I have an excuse to come in. read more

Thank God I saw this on Yelp. I have been looking for lemongrass for weeks now, and every place has been sold out. Even Moon Valley nursery didn't have it and that's where Summerwinds nursery came in and save the Day Not only do they have lemongrass, but they have a very impressive inventory of a variety of herbs vegetables, fruits, along with everything you would need to feed and grow and have a healthy garden the workers there are knowledgeable, and have personal experience growing themselves. This is a wonderful detail, that really shows the dedication. This was excellent and provided top notch customer service. read more
