I am really happy with the expertise of this nursery and all the workers I've met over the years are simply nice and ask about what you would be looking for. Jake is really informative with his varietal information and they even have a bonsai now. They always have a few new plants that are interesting or unique types you just can't find anywhere else I've seen. They have contrator accounts but they Do care about gardening enthusiasts that come in. Other nurseries I went to only care about contractor accounts but this nutsery is just a nice environment for gardeners of all ages. First time at Elgin and I was impressed. It can be a long drive to Elgin if you live in the east valley as I do but it may be worth the drive if you are looking for specific items. They have lots of choice for the serious gardener that you cannot always find at big box stores. One thing I like is that the nursery is smaller but it is chock full of goodies. Hands down the best nursery in the Phoenix-Metro area. I've been to all the other ones nearby and they don't compare. Elgin has lower prices, healthier plants and friendlier, more helpful staff. I brought another couple with me and we all came home with new fruit trees. And, all agreed that we'd 10000000% come to this place during our nursery outings again over all the others we regularly visit. Elgin nursery is my #1 nursery choice. Quality desert landscaping plants, excellent trees, deep, wide advice and service. When it grows on round 1 of planting means great value. Lots of carts and wagons. Yesterday I pruned an Ironwood Tree that was two feet tall on planting day in 2022. It is thriving, pushing eight feet. We also planted a tough pink fairyduster and Desert Milkweed plants in the second most difficult spot in the planting beds of our condo grounds. I have immense hope. read more

We often go to nurseries looking for plants, and this one is on constant rotation, so I know we are in good hands. This last time we came here, we were looking for milkweed, which helps to keep pests away as we are growing some spring/summer vegetables. Place is always well stocked and staff helpful. I like going to nurseries where staff are knowledgeable and helpful, trees and plants well taken care of with good variety and reasonable prices. They also have lots of educational materials, so I'm always getting handouts so I can increase my knowledge of planting/gardening and what does well out here. Elgin does all that, so that's why we come back often to check what they have! read more

What a great experience. You never know what you'll get when you walk into a Nursery. Some places have very knowledgeable people, and others just have crappy plants. Elgin was a breath of fresh air for several reasons: 1. Selection. They had a lot of what I was looking for, in various sizes. I was searching for some hard-to-find citrus that nobody else had, and they had lots of them. 2. Great, healthy plants. Everything they had looked green, vibrant, healthy, and was well taken care of and not strewn about. The place was clean and well managed. 3. Super knowledgeable. They shared a ton of knowledge and tips with me, even though I had not bought anything from them. They had excellent advice and referred me to an amazing landscape and tree guy. They spent a lot of time with me, and never pushed for a sale. Now I'll buy all my plants from them. 4. Selection and supply. TONS of soils, mulches, fertilizers, tools, planters. Fantastic selection of outdoor plants ranging from desert plants to citrus to tropical! I drive 30 miles to come here because the selection is great, the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable, and they don't gauge you with pricing on items like many other nurseries in the valley. Service was great! They were kind, gave me ideas, very knowledgeable about the plants. They even gave me a heads up on when to plant and when not to plant with the upcoming freeze. As someone who does not know a lot about plant care they were more than willing to overly explain how to best care for my new plants. It was very refreshing and I am grateful for their knowledge. What a beautiful nursery. It appeared that almost all of the shrubs and trees had large easy to read names. The paths between the plants had street signs! The signage was great! We were lookin for a particular tree not available at nearby plant nurseries. I called Elgin and talked with an employee and was told the sizes and prices. A fast drive interstate 10, and we found the nursery easily. An employee showed us the section of trees we were interested in, and gave us his advice on the nicest tree in the lot. Stopped in on a Saturday morning and enjoyed walking around here. They have a great selection, and they also carries some beautiful Pottery from AZ Plant Stand! I commend staff here! Heather is very knowledgeable and helpful. Was very disappointed when we planted 3 - 15 gallon Cape Honeysuckle and 1 died within 2 weeks. My landscaper commented to me that 1 of the plants did not look healthy when he planted them. When contacting the nursery, they would not help at all with a partial credit or replacement since my landscaper purchased them and I did not! These shrubs are over $100.00 a piece, and nothing dies in 2 weeks unless it was on it's way out when we purchased them. VERY disappointed of their policy. What would it cost them to just give me a replacement, or partial credit vs losing a customer? read more

Great place with a knowledgeable and helpful staff. Went there to look for some options regarding trees that would stay green all year round, grow fast and make a nice focal point for my yard. Left there knowing a good bit more than I did upon arrival. Narrowed it down to a couple of trees, unfortunately, the one I really wanted, they were out of. I come here fairly regularly. It's so much better than going to Home Depot or Lowe's because the plants have been adapted to Phoenix growing conditions vs getting stuff from Home Depot that are sent out to all the different states without thought to what rootstocks etc do better here vs other states etc. some of the staff is knowledgeable but not all. I've got a ton of knowledge (used to be a certified master gardener) so I've had to correct some of their staff a few times but then others are very knowledgeable. But all of them care more and are more helpful than local home improvement stores read more

Went to Elign this past weekend to review their selection for our backyard landscaping. I was immediately impressed with the great selection of trees, plants and shrubs. The layout made everything easy to find, and unlike many other nurseries the labeling was awesome. We purchased 2 ash trees, and 20 shrubs and bushes ranging from fire stick succulents to bird of paradise bushes. We got hibiscus bushes in every color (even blue). I have to say this is the most reasonably priced nursery I have been to in Phoenix. I'll post some pictures once we get all these beauties planted! read more
