We were very excited to purchase our two Pygmy palms. Implantation was June 3. After a few days we noticed the trunk of one of the palms was leaning very far over, and there was fibrous root material exposed above the ground. On June 6, both I and my husband (who was out of town at the time) spoke with the salesman at Moon Valley Nursery. I indicated my concern and provided him with pictures and told him one of the trunks was very wobbly and leaning at such an angle that it was almost parallel to the ground. He told me that it looked normal and they could come out and put additional mulch on it. He said the wobbliness was normal as the roots hadn't taken hold. I told him the other palm was not wobbly like that and they were planted at the same time. The other palm was doing just fine. I reiterated that it just didn't look right to me. He conferred with his supervisor and told me that his supervisor also said it was fine and looked normal. I felt reluctance on their part to come out to inspect it. There are also many palms in my neighborhood, none of which looked like this. Including my other palm. Midway into the next week my husband was in the yard and a landscaper stopped his truck and approached my husband, commenting that there was something wrong with the palm. He said he was familiar with them, having planted many, and it didn't look well. We phoned Moon Valley again and waited for a return call at which time we relayed this conversation and said someone needed to come out and take a look at the palm. This was on a Friday--nine days post-implantation. Our salesman said that a supervisor would reach out to--most likely Monday and schedule a visit. Monday came with no call. When we followed up, the story changed and we were told someone would contact us to "get us on a schedule." We were having other work done and opted to replace it the third week of June. We were given the name and number of the district manager and left a message for a callback. On June 18 (next day), he phoned us back and we shared our experience with him. He was very apologetic for the service we received and gave us the store manager's name, said he was going to note our account and take care of us. At that point, I asked for clarification on what "take care of us" meant. He said he would be having the manager refund us for the palm. On June 19, we finally got an email that we were on the schedule for someone to inspect the palm on June 25. We did not respond as we were waiting for a call from the manager and planned to address that inspection with her at that time. I followed up with the nursery on the June 22. The manager was off that day however, the man I spoke with said he would see about getting our refund processed that day. I asked for a call back to confirm it was in process. As you can probably guess, there was no call back. On the morning of the June 24, I phoned the nursery again. I asked if the manager was in. The woman who came to the phone was not the manager, and said they would provide an in-house credit. I told her that is not what the district manager told me would be happening; that I was specifically told I would get a refund for that palm. She told me that is not their store policy at which point I told her that she needed to follow up with the district manager that I spoke with, and that it was supposed to have been noted on my account that it was a refund, not a credit. I asked her to look confirm and call me back. At that point, we also left a message for the district manager to look into it on his end. No response from either the nursery or the district manager. Today, the 25th, we have texted the district manager to follow up, and phoned the nursery yet again. This time we have asked for the manager herself to phone us back. I have over 40 years in the financial and member services industry. I recognize great customer service when I receive it. There is definitely room for improvement from this company. The whole situation with the palm has caused no small amount of stress. I am hopeful that the refund will happen. I know that bad reviews travel further than good ones. If this is resolved to my satisfaction, I'm happy to edit this in the near future; for now I remain extremely disappointed and would not recommend this company. read more

Moon Valley in Surprise was excellent from going there after our landscaping guys did a great job but when it came to plants didn't get what we wanted so went to Moon Valley and Mike Brooks was excellent from showing us what we asked for, plants got tagged we got on the schedule and paid and done. Today Myron & guys got here early got the plants plant, soil poured & of course the famous Moon Juice put on the plants. The cut my irrigation lines and never checked before leaving that everything was working, Even when I called and reported the problem, they noted it but never sent anyone to check it our or repair it. On April 30 I purchased a Meyer Lemon Tree from Moon Valley Nursery. At the time of purchase, I was told the dirt like residue on the leaves was simply dirt and would wash off. The sales representative said they get dusty from sitting out, which made sense to me at the time. It was not dirt, but rather a fungicide spray residue. This was not disclosed and I'm still being lied to about it a month later. Two weeks after purchase, on May 14, I called in and tried to speak with someone about my tree. When I connected with a gentleman on the phone, I believe his name was Troy, he didn't ask me any questions about what was going on, he just said to water it daily and give it Moon Juice. I told him I was provided Moon Dust and he said that would shock my tree and not to give it that. He asked how long it had been in the ground and if they planted it or I did, and I told him it was still in the pot. He told me to give it Moon Juice and water, and the conversation was then over. Feeling defeated, I texted with the sales representative I purchased the tree from, showed him pictures, and inquired about the health of the tree. He told me he'd have the Arborist look at it the next day and advise. The next day I was told it "doesn't look that bad," and to give it half a handful of fertilizer and a little more sun (it gets full sun all day). I was then told to update them in a couple of weeks and if it still needs attention or replacement to let him know and he'll take care of it for me. I followed up again this week on May 28, two weeks after the previous contact. After a day of no response, I was sent a quick text that the arborist would look at it tomorrow. (Noticing a trend?) On Friday, after no response, I packed up the sick leaves and fruit and walked back into the nursery asking for answers about what was wrong with my tree, considering it was a lot of money spent. I was then deferred to their tree expert who was one of the least professional individuals I have ever met in my life (I wish I would've caught his name, I have a hunch it was the same rude gentleman from the phone call). He told me after looking at the photos I sent the sales rep that the new growth was "sexy" and he was happy to see my tree looking like it was this time of year. I was again told there was nothing wrong with my tree, to water it like crazy, and to purchase their insecticide which would allegedly help the tree, even though this "expert" just got done telling me my tree was fine. After some research and discussion with actual tree experts, it was identified it has a fungal disease and the residue on my leaves was from a previous fungal spray application. This has not been disclosed in my numerous conversations with more than one representative at this location. They are not forthright and their business practices are shady, at best. If I could provide 0 stars, I would. I hope this review deters even one person from doing business with them. I would hate to see anyone else waste their hard earned money from a nursery that does not care about their customers or doing the right thing. If you dig a little deeper into Moon Valley Nurseries, not just this location, you'll learn this is a common theme from customers who purchase plants or trees from them without using their landscaping services. read more

We bought a 7' Ash a year ago, we were told it was grown in Arizona so it could handle our summer heat! Well half of the tree has died and it's not because it has not gotten enough water. the sheet they gave us said during the summer watered 3 times a week at least 25 gals each water which I have done and I have used super charged like they told me too. Because we didn't do their care plan they will not stand behind it. This tree cost us $2700! I have three huge beautiful trees I bought from Home Depot that cost us a third of moon valley. I should have listen to my neighbors because they had the same experience! read more

We had a great experience with Moon Valley Nursery. They have so many choices that you can easily spend a couple hours looking at everything they have. I have to say the best part of the experience was working with Jordan as our consultant. Jordan introduced himself when we arrived and told us where to start based on what we were looking for. He came by again to check on us and we already had questions. He was able to answer those for us and he said the next step was to do an at home consultation. He arrived on time and was able to create a design that was perfect for what we wanted.His knowledge and patience is what we liked most about him. We felt comfortable with the price, so we moved forward with the purchase. When our trees arrived on planting day, they looked beautiful! Jordan was great at selecting which ones would look best in the back yard based on the shape and size and he was not wrong. We also loved the fact that he would provide pictures of the ones he selected, so we knew what we were going to recieve. On the delivery day, he checked in before and after the install was done to make sure we felt comfortable with how it all went. The planting went smooth and the workers were great. They even assisted us with a broken noodle drip line, which was very nice of them. We have now had these trees in our back yard for over 6 months and they all are doing so well, even in the hot weather here in AZ. With that, we then started to think we wanted 3 more trees and we know who to call, Jordan. Jordan once again jumped right on it to show us what trees he had in stock. Unfortunately, they were not what we were looking for, but Jordan said he would find the perfect ones for us in his inventory at other locations. Once again, he did not disappoint and found 3 great trees. The new set will be planted here at the end of Oct 2024 and we know it will be a beautiful addition to the others that are already there. If you are on the hunt for some great mature trees and want a consultant that doesn't push you and knows how to provide you with the best options, ask for Jordan as he will be the person that will set you up. What could improve??? Customer Service!! Went to the Surprise location looking for a certain flower. I had called before hand and was told they had them and that they were blooming. When I got there, I asked one of the employees where the plants were as he was walking away he said if we have them there either up front or (as he pointed) over there and walked away. Very, very unprofessional!!! Asked another employee, he didn't even know what we were talking about!! I called Summer Winds off Tatum, customer service was excellent!!! He was happy, energetic, told me he did not have the plant I wanted and why and also gave me suggestions for other flowers. They'll be getting my business from now on.
