I love the vibe of this cafe, always bustling with a good crowd at any time of the day. You walk in to see people catching up, students studying, people working/reading or even interviews in progress. Mind you, this is a 24*7 cafe so you can drop by any time!! The coffee, chai latte and Persian iced tea are my personal favorites. There are plenty of food options here. Breakfast tacos until 11am, sandwiches made to order, prepped dishes, chips, cookies and other bakery items. Some of the cheesecakes in the dessert section look tempting! Considering this is next to the busy main road, there is plenty of parking. The cafe has ample seating room with tables, couches and patio. They have kept the vibe student friendly, with a lot of charging points and individual tables. There is a quiet study area as well, if you do not want to be disturbed. With so many reviews and such a good rating, we were definitely disappointed. I have to give them kudo for opening 24/7. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for the first 24/7 coffee shop in DFW area. We showed up at an odd hours around 2pm, yet the place was packed. The place was smaller than I expected, and it was definitely hard to find a table when they're busy. .5 star Neither one of us enjoyed our drink. My latte tasted burnt and didn't come with any latte art. My SO's iced coffee tasted a lil watered down. They do have a lot of food options on the menu, so i'm gonna give them benefit of the doubt and 1 star The people who work here are friendly and very efficient. Meh. They go to a lot of effort on the looks and the branding. Nice space, but a lot of stress around people taking up space. It's pretty clear that there is a battle with students or locals who want to camp out for wifi. Every table has several signs taped to them, more signs on the walls with long explanations. The staff is very friendly. Texas Traders Coffee. If you love it, you'll be happy. If you don't like it, you may not be. They do not mention TT coffee anywhere, and sell it under the house brand. I make it a habit to understand where a shop's coffee is sourced from, as there are roasters that I love and roasters that I don't. And I always enjoy trying a roaster I'm not familiar with. Our coffees were okay. Espresso drinks, not bad, not exceptional. What I normally expect from TT coffee. We also had a small quiche and a spanikopita. Those were beautiful. But... The spanikopita was a little bland, and didn't seem to have any egg mixed in with the spinach / potato, which is what I'm used to. Among other things, like texture, it also helps even out the flavor. Otherwise, it just tastes like plain cooked spinach. On the quiche, it was okay, until near the last part of it, the black pepper was so overwhelming, that my mouth tingled for a few minutes after. read more

I saw a bunch of hype on Yelp, so I decided to make the drive to the Monkey Nest and bring my dog out with me as my personal comfort animal while I study for my chemistry (physical & inorganic chemistry) finals. I was expecting to hear classical music like what so many students claimed, but I heard nothing from the classical genre while I was at Monkey's Nest. I was disappointed by my coffee. Specifically my wildflower latte. Maybe I've outgrown coffee sweetened with syrup. I could definitely taste some coffee, but I mostly tasted syrup. Both coffee and sugar are acidic. Acid + acid = a drink that I seriously need to wash down with water. The 10% discount for bringing my own cup was cool though. Parking sucks too. Monkey's Nest is busy all the time from what I can tell. The front of the shop near the outdoor seating has non-existent parking except for a single handicap space. Usually gets taken up by non-handicap who want to drop off their kids at a coffee shop. Most of the parking is at the side of the building where the entrance is, but even those spaces are limited since Monkey Nest is so busy. So your best bet to visit is probably late at night. Hopefully you're willing to pull an all-nighter. The shop was filled with college students/millennials when I visited at around 3 P.M. on a Wednesday. Everyone is staring at their laptops, so thankfully the interior is fairly quiet. They all had the same idea as me, and the first victim of finals I saw was a lady studying organic chemistry. I got a really good sense of satisfaction watching someone struggle busing with studying for a class I passed with flying colors. The service is alright. The workers aren't approachable, but they seem willing to answer any questions you have if you do the approaching yourself. If you like your baristas/servers being all smiles for your patronage, then I suggest you don't expect that. read more

Cute place to work, okay drinks, bad wifi. Came here looking for a place to work, and was excited to see all the outlets around. However, I found it really hard to because the wifi was never consistent and made basic internet functions hard to use. I got a Matcha Latte which I enjoyed, but it tasted really powdery and was oddly thick. There are a lot of other people here so it makes sense that the bandwidth is being hogged. Maybe find another place to work if you need wifi. read more

There's an expansive menu for food and drinks, so that's nice if you're looking for something besides pastries. There's a great number of tables, although it can feel kind of tight. Came here Friday morning and the place was almost half full, but during peak times (think midterm/finals at UT) it can be hard to find a spot. There's a couple of areas towards the back that are more private, which I appreciate. Outlets seem far and few in between, but the WiFi is reliable and free. Parking is pretty good since there's a private lot that goes pretty far back along the building. Service is typically friendly and quick. I was in Austin for work since my company has an office there. I needed to get lunch but I couldn't leave my office so I decided to Uber Eats something. I looked up a bunch of places nearby and Monkey Nest seemed to be a pretty decent shop with simple sandwiches. Getting the food was pretty easy and quick (Thanks Uber). Unfortunately that's when my experience got worse. So I can't rate them on service and friendliness since I didn't go to the shop, so this review is for the food only. The ingredients they used were mediocre but it was a hearty sandwich. I ended up ordering the Green Goddess sandwich with chicken added. When I opened my bag I was pretty disgusted. There was burnt charcoal almost all over my sandwich. I wasn't even comfortable eating half of it but at this point I was starving. The food that I was comfortable eating was just ok. Wow this coffee shop is quite nice!! I came in around 6 to get some work done and there was so much space + tables for that purpose! The ambience was quiet and focused, which is exactly what I needed! There are many tables, all of which you can move around for your own comfort as well as couches and countertop booths. There are also extra rooms in the back for more quiet studying!! As for the food & coffee there's so much to choose from, and it's not just desserts either! I love that for a long day of studying you don't have to just rely on sweets which is awesome. Their cookies and other sweets are pretty awesome too and pair well with all their coffee offerings. Hint on the lay of the landscape within - if you want a quiet​ area, sit in a back room, louder is in the middle, the ​front is even-tempered​ sound-wise and best with headphones and outside you escape everything except the street noise. A great study spot with amazing drinks. I like the individual tables to study at. It isn't very loud and there's plenty of outlets. I kept coming back because it was one of the few 24 hour coffee shops in town, but it was less than ideal. Tables are cramped and you're always crawling over people to plug in your charger. There are also a good amount of times when it's been unbearably hot and they have shop fans blasting to try and cool it down. The drinks aren't too shabby though. The peanut butter smoothie is a great cool drink and their lattes are not too bitter or sweet. Tons of options for your picky friends that 'don't like the taste of coffee' too! Service is terrible but with their level of popularity, I don't think they're too worried. I've definitely heard an employee get into a heated argument with a customer, which is honestly unprofessional but like I said, when you need to get work done late, this is the place. read more

When we arrived, we were greeted with a very bright smiling barista. It was our first time so we had a few more questions than normal about the signature drinks. The staff was more than friendly and welcoming. The crowd is deeply engaged in their laptops, books, social interactions, etc. There's soft jazzy music playing. The warm lighting and dark colors creates a very cozy atmosphere. Seems like there should be a sofa, blanket, fireplace and TV - feels like home! First, let me just say that I love coffee shops that are open 24/7. Add to that, that they serve great and interesting coffees, as well as yummy food; and the thirty-minute drive to get here at 3 am, isn't so bad. I am drinking the Monkeys Uncle and am a little disappointed that I can't taste any peanut butter (In fact it just tasted like a mocha), but the coffee still tastes great so I won't dock a start. To eat, I grabbed a Spinach, Feta, and Black Olive Pizza. On flatbread, no heartburn inducing red sauce... and it was tasty. Win-Win!
