This place is respectably good. A very short walk from the visitor center parking deck. It is located eerily across from a very old cemetery and next door to Bucket Burger. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We never wanted for refreshments and the food came very fast. Our server was Amanda and she was very good and cheery. The sweet tea was sweet as molasses-- a bit too sweet for me but still good. My wife ordered lemonade and it did not taste like it was made on site, but it was also good. I ordered the dry rub ribs with fries and collard greens. The ribs were excellent. I ate one of them without sauce and I was not disappointed. The mojo sauce went well with the others. The vinegar sauce was as thin as water and ran everywhere. It was not easy to eat BBQ with it. The fries were not good. My wife and I agreed on that. Slightly overcooked and dry and very small. None of the sauces could cover up a slight burnt and crispy taste lingering in their spuddy souls. My wife commented on her pulled pork with mashed potatoes topped with country gravy, and french fries. She loved the mashed potatoes as usual. She noted the BBQ was excellent but she wanted Sonny's sauces. Finally, the atmosphere was pretty relaxing. It was kind of dark inside but the music was awesome. Came here with some friends during a recent weekend stay in St. Augustine due to some good online feedback and it being on our walking path upon getting into town and heading towards all the sights. Had a great meal and struck me as being very similar to a Sonny's but perhaps more satisfying and better 'bang-for-the-buck-'. GF and I split something that was on their specials menu of pick 2 meats (some restrictions on the options) and 2 sides. We settled on the pork shoulder and brisket along with the mashed w/gravy & baked beans. The meat was smoky and tender and all around well-done (Great BBQ takes tiiiiime). The sides were great and even though we split a meal, we left full and for no more than $12, if that!!!! Definitely hit up this St. Augustine staple. Best BBQ I've had in a long time! The smoked wings with housemade ranch was a delicious starter. We followed up with a 3 meat platter of smoked turkey, brisket and burnt ends. Absolutely delicious. Mike ordered the Kansas City Burnt Ends as an appetizer. It was smoky good with a hint of spicy. The sauce choices was crazy...the sweet, the mustard, honey and 4 other flavors. Mixing sauces give your taste buds hundreds of choices. And we did just that...good stuff I tell ya. After talking for a while, dinner arrives. Mike had Baked Chicken Quarters. Kelly ordered the Brisket Sandwich. John ordered the Blackened Mahi. I got the Brunswick Stew. The entrees were a nice size portion. You have a choice of 2 sides and good old sweet cornbread. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The chicken was fall off the bone good. Baked very well and still moist. The Mahi was nicely seasoned, very flavorful. Trying to eat at this restaurant has been the most unpleasant experience. The food maybe good but the service is so bad that you will loose the appetite. On January 2 I went to ST Augustine to walk around and have dinner, we checked the restaurant reviews around the area and landed at "Mojo OLd BBQ". We wait for around 30 minutes, all restaurants were packed. Finally, we were set and the waitress came to take our order, a short overweight young girl, whose stand up at the end of the table and start asking for out drinks. I was at the other side of the table and I couldn't hear her given to the louder street and the people from the other tables. I asked her to come round to get closer, she answered that She was find there. However, we could go on with the drinks and 5 minutes later she came back with them. In all drinks there was one for our little son. My wife asked her for a small cup with lid. Being at the other end of the table the waitress couldn't hear and my wife asked her to come round the table, she refused again, then my wife asked louder. The waitress say "yes" and left and, as soon she turn into the kitchen, she screamed: "Yes I do bitch!!". We left, it is a fact that after a complain at any restaurant you are exposed at disgusting results on your food. I usually try to focus on the food, so those who read my review can make racional decision about the food, but in this one the service was so poor that I couldn't even eat. read more

First time here. While we were sat right away it took about 30 minutes to actually find out who our server was and to get drinks ordered. We asked the server for the table next to us to help us out, but he seemed unaffected, letting us know our server was in the bathroom and not his problem. We talked to the hostess and she eventually felt bad enough to take our drink order. When the waitress showed up she said the hostess couldn't do that and proceeded to take our drink order again. By this point we were beyond hungry but she insisted that she get all our drinks to the table before she could order our food... The food was pretty good so can't complain there. The manager eventually stopped by and said he'd comp our drinks but didn't really seem concerned about our experience. Give this a try! We went two days in a row. We had picky eaters and they liked it also. My husband had salmon and smoked corn- I tasted both and it was delish. I had smoked chicken and collard greens and french fries, very good and I added chipotle bar b q sauce. People with us had pulled pork and pork quesadillas and bar b q nachos. So we went back the next day and my husband and I shared the nachos and added chipotle bar b q sauce wow was that really tasty. Everyone was just as happy the second day. After our road trip to St. Augustine we decided to stop into Mojo for some delicious BBQ. Our waitress was an absolute gem of a girl and was so sweet! For an appetizer, we started off with the fried pickles ($8.5), served with comeback sauce. Mind you, they have a massive array of sauces available for you at your table that you can also load on anything you order (my favorites were the sweet and the mustard). For my entree I went with the two-meat combo ($17.5), which I ordered with beef brisket and St. Louis spareribs. With this you get two sides, so I had Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. I'm not the worlds largest BBQ fan, but my meal was outstanding! The brisket had just the right amount of fat to melt in your mouth and the ribs fell right off the bone. The Mac and cheese was unique in that it was sweet - I was thinking maybe there was a little cornbread in it. I make it a point in my life to try out the most BBQ places I can. I have had a bunch. Down here on vacation and found this gem. It's pet friendly and that's was perfect, as I had my baby girl with me. Erica enough her some water in a bowl and she was deep in it before long. I do wish they had a little more shade but all in all patio is great. The views are amazing and the sounds around town are gray as well. Now for the food.... Omg my mouth is doing a happy dance. God bless BBQ! I stopped here on our way from Charleston to Miami trying to satisfy my BBQ craving before the king road ahead and I was so pleased. I'm talking beans, coleslaw, fried green tomatoes, cornbread, and brisket...I was one happy camper! The decor is very vintage with a dark tavern feel. We sat at the bar (as we always do) and ordered ourselves a huge meal which we literally licked the plate and our fingers as we finished off. All of the sauces are homemade and carry a distinct flavor. If you're looking for BBQ and can't decide where to go- look no further ! It doesn't get any more savory or authentic than Mojo City. St. Augustine is such a quaint and charming town and this place really brought out what the city is all about. Southern Hospitality in Florida is found right here at Mojo's! Found this place through Yelp and was not disappointed! It is located in the heart of St. Augustine, just walking distance from the Castillo de San Marcos. We were a party of 6 and we're sat down immediately. We decided to order the "Whole Hawg" for the table and a few appetizers and it was more than enough. We ordered: Kansas City Burnt Ends (delicious!) The onion rings (very good) Pulled Pork Quesadillas (not my favorite) The Whole Hawg (which came with a variety of meats and 4 sides; my favorite were the baked beans and the coleslaw) The decor was cute and had cute signs on the wall. I didn't give this place 5 stars because the plates and silverware were not so clean. I wiped my appetizer plate with a napkin and found bbq oil left on it. Recently visited St. Augustine and decided to eat at Mojos for dinner with the family. Quite crowded, but it was over the holidays, waited for about 30 minutes for a table. We started with the pulled pork quesadilla (appetizer) - this was very, very good, highly recommended this as a starter - large enough for 2-3 folks to share. One of the main entrees we ordered was the Whole Hawg which provided us a little bit of everything (pork, beef, turkey, chicken, ribs, and sausage). Sausage, ribs and turkey were our favorites, but all of it was very good, flavorful, and cooked perfectly - not dry at all. As for the sides, the BBQ Pit Beans were amazing! Some of the best BBQ beans we've ever eaten - A must get if you go. Overall the food, service, and ambiance was really good (4 stars all around). Some really good southern BBQ. read more

Fresh is the key word here. The meats were some of the best tasting and most tender BBQ I've ever had. The sides were beautifully prepared and complimented the proteins well. The sauces were unique and full of flavor. Portions are huge...especially the mac and cheese. Unique whiskey cocktails and great beer selection. Only drawback? MoJo's was right in the heart of the downtown St. Augustine action and not even a block away from the Bed and Breakfast we were staying at for the weekend. We have eaten at the Jacksonville locations so we knew the food would be good. Nice outside seating street side. Seating was fast and efficient. The server was really nice and personable and attended to us just the right amount. If you want BBQ this is the place. We started with the Smoked Chicken Nachos which were excellent. Margaritas and craft beer were served up cold and fast. They have a good bar and vast selection on tap including local crafts and national brands. Next was the Blackened Mahi sandwich with a side. I know, I know (not BBQ) but excellent large portion which we split. Served hot and right on time. Another round of drinks and dinner was concluded. Baked beans are best in the business as well as many other sides to choose. They have excellent choices of sauces that cater to almost any taste.
