It was OK. We went on Monday 1/1 and it was not that crowded, however our waitress (although very nice) seemed clearly hungover and just really messy. Pet hair on her uniform, dirty shirt, she looked overall disheveled. I am not saying you have to be perfect, but at a restaurant, a clean uniform matters. The service was extremely delayed for a restaurant that was half empty. We waited for over an hour for our food. The sodas were *disgusting* they were fountain drinks and you can tell that has not been cleaned for a while. Everyone was returning them. We sent them back and ordered water instead. We came here 2x on this trip which is saying a lot as we don't usually like to go to the same place twice. But it is just so good. The 2nd time we stopped in we were getting food. I honestly don't know what I can say about this place that hasn't already been said. We've lived in the area for a few years now and I'm embarrassed that it took us so long to try this place. I am so glad I put my trust in them...we loved everything! We got The Whole Hawg with Mac & Cheese, BBQ Pit Beans, Sweet Potato Mash and Creamy Cole Slaw. It was the perfect way to try a little bit of everything. When we talk about that food now we start salivating! Seriously! Had a great meal here. The food was really very good. The pulled pork is amazing. In the sandwich...great! In the quesadilla...great! Plain on the plate...also great. The North Carolina pork was awesome. The sweet tea, fries, bacon burger, and baked beans were also very tasty. Now the service was pleasant but slow (and the restaurant was very empty at the time...we might have been the only ones in there). And the tables were strangely, uncomfortable sticky. Not just as in the sense that sticky tables feel gross, but the menus had to be literally peeled away from the tables because they stuck so badly. This is really more of a 2.5 rating, but it is what it is. We got sat as a party of 5 and a 1 year old immediately. We weren't asked if we wanted a booster seat and when we did ask for one eventually he never brought it and we had to ask someone else. Fine. Bar drinks took a little long to come out for how not busy it was. But again, fine. Burnt ends were actually amazing and came out quickly. The server was personable in the beginning but then seemed to forget that actually serving the table was his job. I'm a server so I feel like i can weigh in on this. I shouldn't have to ask for napkins and refills and when we did ask politely, it seemed liked a huge inconvenience to Ryan. The food itself was not nearly as good as other mojos in Jax I've visited. The nachos hardly had any cheese, they didn't bring out the sour cream we asked for when we ordered, my nephews side was wrong, my sons fries were cold and tasted like old grease. My Reuben was pretty good and the Mac n cheese is always good. The only reason we even went to this place is for my pregnant sister who was craving their jalapeño cornbread croutons on their salad. They ended up being out of croutons??? And the server did not mention this when ordering. Asking for boxes and having separate checks really seemed to stress our sever out. Out of of the meals we have had in St. Augustine, this by far was my least favorite. Tonight was busy due to it be the first night of Night of Lights, so that we understood and were patient with getting sat. We ended up only waiting maybe 10 minutes. Once we were sat, it took over 10 minutes before anyone came to greet us & take or drink order. Our server wasn't very friendly or helpful. Mojo offers a cool, chill atmosphere with great music, incredible service, and impressive BBQ. We had lunch outdoors enjoying the beautiful Florida weather in a casual setting. Our server was spot on, suggesting numerous items on the menu since we'd never been there. We ordered smoked chicken nachos topped with pulled, smoked chicken, mojo BBQ sauce, mixed shredded cheese and jalapeños... they were massive! Our family came an hour before closing. We ordered different items and shared. Fried pickles appetizer came out hot and enough for a family of seven. Would have liked them slightly crispier. Made our way to Mojo Barbecue after several recommendations. Appetizers were good, just served at a cold temperature. Shrimp Boom Boom and rib tips are what stood out to me. Good food, good place, great city! Located in the heart of St. Augustine. The patio overlooks the old Tolamato Cemetery and you really do feel like you are in the oldest town in the United States. (OUTSIDE) (INSIDE) Clean and busy restaurant. Food satisfies your BBQ fix. I really like the variety of sauces they provide at every table. SWEET was my favorite, but that's just me. Was visiting St Augustine & decided to stop at this restaurant to eat with the hubby. The chicken sandwich I had was the southern chicken sandwich which comes with the choice of one side, and I got Mac and cheese for the that choice. The Mac and cheese was nice, creamy and cheesy. I like the way it was made. The server was very nice and pleasant. Definitely a place to come dine and for either a quick bite to eat or to have some conversation with whoever you're with, after walking up and down the streets of st Augustine. Located across from the cemetery, spooky vibes love it lol. It's a huge bbq restaurant; I noticed this place was super loud. Service was good, no complaints; food came out fast. Major BBQ is a rustic restaurant located across from the Fort at St Augustine. Because of it's locationsmust I did not expect too much however, I was delightfully surprised. I started with a order of burnt ends which tantalized my taste buds. The portion was a very good size for the three of us to share with fried pickles. The food came out quickly as expected since the restaurant was slow at the time of our visit. I ordered fried catfish with black-eyed peas and green beans. The black-eyed peas and green beans were well seasoned however the catfish was rather bland. I probably would not have eaten it had not had tarter sauce. I was excited to see burnt tips and collard greens but was not impressed with the toughness of the meat nor the lack of flavor in the collard greens. We also ordered Mac and cheese but it was lacking seasoning and pretty dry. We ordered the three meat- burnt tips, turkey, and brisket. And while it was edible; it was not worth $30. for this plate. In addition, the portions were comical, the small 8oz container was half full, and the portions for the meat were equivalent to a child's plate. Just not worth it taste or portion wise. Although sometimes when you dine in the portions are usually fair. So sometimes I order dine in and then box it myself. This meal was not worth the effort though. read more

Came here post covid on a friday night around 9PM. I know its late, but its open until 11, and the BBQ smelled so good. First problem was the service. We were seated outside and practically forgotten. it took us 15 Mins just to get a server to ask for waters. It took another 15 mins for the water to come. Any longer and we would have walked out. It was not slammed pack, but there were other tables who were sat and forgotten too. After about 30 Mins of waiting, our food comes out....COLD...It was like it was prepped and had been sitting on the counter for 30mins, not even under a heat lamp. The food itself was just ok, but maybe because it was cold that the flavors couldn't stand out. And instead of sending it back because it was cold, i was too hungry at that point and just ate it. This place has so much hope, and it really falls... flat. Level. On the ground; nothing worth mentioning. We've tried this place twice over the years, and we won't be coming back. I'm a vegetarian, so I do appreciate the option to get their sides, however limited. I have two main beefs with this place, one being that it's kinda pricey, and the portions are way small! In 2019, we stumbled upon this restaurant based on reviews left by diners on a site for people with food allergies (I'm one of these people). They claimed that not only would this place not make me be sick from allergens, I would love the food. Well...lemme just tell ya. This place. This place you will dream about. And we obsessed over them for the next four years until we made our way back to St Augustine this year. We got off the plane and came from the airport directly to Mojo Old City BBQ. We didn't care about the oceanfront house. It was burnt ends. Get out of the way! And they don't disappoint--they are every bit as good as we remember. Tender, melt in your mouth. Everything is amazing here. Chicken wings, burgers, every side dish we tried. Waitstaff is attentive and kind and will treat you right. The ambience is friendly and laid back. It all combines to make a place you want to come back to over and over again. It makes it seem not crazy to talk about driving 15.56 hours just because you crave burnt ends. Or moving to St Augustine from Michigan because they simply haven't built a Mojo there yet (hint hint!!) You're not crazy. It's really good. So we're staying around the corner from their place and decided to check it out for dinner yesterday. The business wasn't very busy - especially for 6pm on a Sunday. The table tops were "sticky" from continual use and the varnish starting to come off. Our server was great. That being said, we both tried his recommendations - pulled pork, brisket, and the Mac & cheese. The meat was ok but my husband wasn't that hungry and he's not a "sauce" kind of guy. So he didn't eat much. His fries were under cooked. I am a sauce person and tried all 5 sauces. I also had the baked beans & smoked corn for my sides. It was ok BBQ. I've had better - I've had worse. Nothing I'd normally write a review about. About an hour after eating my stomach started to not feel good. I kept having heart burn and felt very bloated. My daughters grilled cheese had meat in it, which isn't stated on the menu. Our waitress apologized and no more than five minutes later came out with a new one, but her side of fries were missing. I love salt, probably too much, but these fries were so salty maybe it's a good thing they weren't brought back out. I also wondered what took so long for our first order to come out in the first place if my daughters re-cooked meal came out in minutes. I got the brisket with a side salad and macaroni and cheese. The brisket was so dry. I even doused it in bbq sauce and it was still inedible. The macaroni was good and the side salad was decent. I don't like cornbread and the croutons were made out of them so if you like cornbread go for the salad or I'd steer clear.
