Abraham operates on dishonesty and unless you are a customer in front of him, he will disregard you. My husband and I went to look at vehicles Saturday during the Memorial weekend. After discussing finances, we were ready to purchase a vehicle Sunday. On Sunday, Abraham sent a pre-approval application link and we filled out immediately. We waited a couple of hours and did not hear back. We drove over to Mazda while being in the area to check in and Abraham said that they are working with the banks and may need to call them the following morning but that he found the vehicle I wanted and was initiating a dealer transfer for the vehicle to arrive Monday (the very next day). Monday morning comes and goes so we call and Abraham says they are slammed but are working in between customers to make this happen for us and he says he will call back with updates. He never calls back so we decided to call again. He says that the finance manager is trying to find us the best financing deal and he will call us in the morning with an update. We received no call. I called and spoke with someone else who passed on the message to call us back. We receive a call back from Tony who said that they didn't even have the car nor was credit run. I explained to him that what he is saying is the opposite of what Abraham is saying. He seems to get frustrated with us and asks what we want to do as if we were holding up the deal. Despite telling the manager the blatant lies from his salesperson, the accountability was not there. My husband and I ended up going to Tracy Mazda where they had my vehicle readily available and were kind, honest, and efficient. I suggest if you choose Modesto Mazda, go with Carmen. She has good communication and follow-through. 1. Just because a customer is not physically there, that does not mean they go on the back burner - still communicate! 2. If you are as short-staffed as you say you are, then say you have not had an opportunity to work on the deal, but when you have a full-staff, you will complete the deal for them. 3. We didn't even buy our Mazda here but I did take a test drive before finding one in the color I liked up in the Bay Area instead. Josue was awesome, helpful and knowledgeable and I didn't feel pressured at all. He even tried to trade some of their inventory for the one I wanted so I wouldn't have to make the drive, but the other dealership declined (see my review for Fremont Mazda ). Fast forward two weeks later, we had to take our new Mazda CX-9 in to Modesto's service department (def wasn't driving to Fremont) thanks to a weird sound, & it turned out to be a few loose bolts, a common Mazda problem. Austin was great, he made a short video for us showing where the noise came from, that he sees it a lot, then he tightened everything & added a sealer to ensure it didn't happen again. I would PERSONALLY "suggest" that if anyone is thinking of doing business with Modesto Mazda (Modesto, Calif)....that they DON'T! I took our CX5-GT in for service and also approved that they detail the car. Short story...the car came back with a messed up Infotainment Screen...ruined!....and they deny all liability, essentially said I was a liar...but that they would offer me a "deal" to 'fix it' for about $500 and that $500 included them waiving a $200 labor charge. They absolutely refused to accept liability for damage to the screen. Service manager says that it could have been messed up somewhere else by somebody else (ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE!!!...it was fine when we brought the car in for maintenance). I will consider my legal "options"! HERE'S THE BOTTOM LINE....Whenever anybody takes their Mazda for service or detailing or even a wash...before signing any work/repair order, be sure to have the Service Manager make a note that the Infotainment Screen is not messed up! Most degrading experience in all the years I have been buying cars. I have bought several cars from Modesto Toyota, Modesto Lexus, Mistlin Honda, VW, Modesto Subaru and have a fantastic relationship with them all. This negative review is directly related to one individual, ANGEL CASTRO, the most disrespectful sales manager I have ever encountered. I stopped at Modesto Mazda last week and a guy by the name of Josue really sold me on the Mazda3, and we agreed to get it, and was waiting for the car to arrive. This was a cash deal and he gave me $500 incentive, and I have everything in text from the dealership. I was buying this car for my daughter and I was so excited for her, and she was as well. Car arrived Thursday the 31st, a day early and my daughter notified me. I was at work so I called the dealership and told them to get it ready. I get there and the sales rep said that his manager would not give me the $500 incentive. The manager is one of those guys that sits in an office and thinks he's above speaking with his customers. I asked the rep to have him come out and speak with me. He comes out, no greeting, no handshake, no smile, just someone that seems angry at the world and just miserable. He goes to me, we can't give you the incentive, it was quoted by mistake, the sales rep shouldn't have told you that. I said to him, since this was your guys' mistake, can you honor it? He said, no, I won't give $500 discount. I said, are you really willing to lose this deal and a customer over $500? He said yes, take it or leave it, in the most serious, and mean face. I felt so degraded sitting there, and kept thinking about how happy my daughter was waiting for this car. I said please give a minute to digest this. He gets up, turns around and whisper something to the rep as he walked away. Not a single word of sympathy. I drove down to Subaru, and paid cash for an Impreza that was $1000 more than the Mazda3, but I was treated with dignity and respect like Subaru in Modesto has always treated me. I was in total shock, and was for a few minutes in denial that I had just experienced this. ANGEL CASTRO is the epitome of a degrading experience and should never be customer facing. This was not about $500, this was about principles, respect, and relationship building, all of which ANGEL CASTRO knows nothing about. I will never ever do business with not only Mazda of Modesto, but the entire Central Valley Automotive for tolerating someone like ANGEL CASTRO. I am beyond disgusted. read more

Bought my car 3 years ago and the sales representative was awesome. Never had issues every time I called or went in person. My 2020 Mazda 3 started to say it has an airbag system malfunction so I called to see if they can fix that since it's a serious issue. It is not a wear and tear situation yet they're are charging me $185 just to inspect it since I do not have warranty for it. I know cars are going to fail but an airbag malfunction? I have a new Mazda CX-30 AWD that I am enjoying very much. I had an unlucky encounter with a nail that gave me a flat tire one Friday night, so I limped home on the spare tire. Saturday morning I called Mazda in Modesto and talked to their service manager Malachi, and I asked him what I should do. He got me right in and I was lucky enough to discover that it was a simple puncture and could be repaired. So they patched the tire, returned my spare to the trunk, and got me on my way on a Saturday morning. This saved the rest of my weekend, as I certainly could not travel on that little spare tire. While I don't usually service my vehicle at the dealer, they had done a small repair for me that was quick and reasonably priced, and my car came back washed and ready to go. So when I needed an oil change, I made a "car date" for myself. I had work to get done and some time to myself, so I was excited to take my car in, throw on headphones and get some uninterrupted time to focus, after which I'd be walking out to a clean car with a fresh oil change, just in time for a weekend trip. When my car was ready 90 minutes later it was clearly still dirty. After the two weeks of rain it had that "film", ya know? While paying I noticed the car and asked "Don't you normally wash the cars as part of service?" and was told "we don't bother when it's raining." (note: it was not raining at that time) Which fine. No worries. So I asked if I could get a voucher or something to have it washed later as that was meant to be included. They called someone and took it back for a quick wash, but neglected 90% of the things they'd cleaned up at my previous service. It had now been over 2 hours and I had another appt, so I went on with my day, but noticed my service interval had been set incorrectly and would have me returning 30% sooner than my service schedule mandates. All good, I fixed it myself. Then noticed that it wasn't a mistake- the service sticker ALSO had me coming in at 5000mi vs the 7,500 outlined by factory service schedules. I called. When asked, the service desk said "yeah, they have a 7,500mi service schedule but we always set them at 5 just to be safe". Sorry, but what hazard is this avoiding? This is clearly a measure to bilk folks who aren't paying attention for extra service appointments. I had been taking to the service desk about another repair (cosmetic) that would cost around $2k, but if I can't trust them with an oil interval, how can I trust them with larger tasks? Then, today, I got definitive proof that they sold my email address (which was required to book the appointment). In all this visit cost me two extra hours and fifteen extra dollars for something I could have gotten done at Valvoline, plus the added cost of the carwash I still needed and the lost trust in the only mazda center in the area. TLDR: I spent time and money going to the dealer instead of a 15 minute oil change explicitly for the carwash and no-hassle experience and got back a dirty car with the wrong service suggestions before my info was sold. read more

I had an appointment for my car this morning because I thought I might have an issue with my alternator. I was also concerned about my brakes because of a warning light that had come on several times. I wanted a diagnostic done to make sure my car was ok. Unfortunately, I didn't get the sales guy's name, but he was so nice. He listened to me as I was explaining everything & he assured me that those things I was seeing were normal & nothing to be concerned about. Terrible experience, my wife and went in on Saturday ready to purchase a vehicle. Her vehicle was appraised and we provided all the information needed to run financing. Their salesman Abraham lied to us multiple times throughout the weekend. First he said they found the vehicle my wife wanted and were initiating a transfer. Second he said they ran financing and were calling the banks. On Monday, Memorial Day he said the vehicle was ours and that on Tuesday the next day our deal would be done. Well we receive a call on Tuesday from the manager asking if we are ready to start the process of purchasing the vehicle. Abraham lied to us and did not initiate anything. The vehicle transfer was not initiated nor had they found the vehicle. Even with the okay to run financing, nothing was initiated. The salesperson lacked communication and honesty. We ended up purchasing from Tracy Mazda, they provided exceptional communication and had the vehicle in stock. We will not be returning to Modesto Mazda. read more
