Sal is a great salesman but the owner (Nick) is the rudest and most immature business owner I've ever dealt with. Our loan was not approved (not his fault) but refused to give us a straight explanation on why it was not approved. He changed the story multiple times. First, because the miles were too high; if so, then why would you run the credit? If you own a dealership I think you should know the basics of when loans are automatically denied. When we tried to talk to him he refused after asking why he pulled the credit after knowing it would not get approved. We are first time car buyers and want to do it correctly and we're hoping to look to the owner for help. But that was not the case. Also, he did not tell us what bank he sent our application through for the financing and handed us our drivers license but no paperwork of the loan being denied. We were very excited to buy from a smaller dealership, but maybe going to the multimillion dollar dealerships is a better option in this case. read more

I bought a Dodge Charger from 5 Star in September. I saw the car online, but was busy and couldn't make it over there for a couple weeks. In the meantime, I had multiple phone conversations with them, then traveled from San Jose to Modesto to inspect and buy the car. Nick and everyone I met at 5 Star were professional and gained my trust. There was never any pressure, just straight talk and help. They properly set expectations. During the process and based on what I had described I was looking for, they openly raised in advance any facts about the listed and depicted car features (wheel color, exhaust sound) that they thought might be undesirable to me in advance of my making the trip to Modesto. We negotiated over those issues on the phone. Even when I called a couple days after purchasing the car with a casual inquiry about the spare tire, they offered to me to return the car for a full refund if I was in any way unhappy!!! I had nothing like that in mind, and reassured them I was not seeking a return...just information. But the point is they voluntarily offered sincerely to accept a return. I would gladly travel again to Modesto do business with them if they have a car in stock that is of interest to me the next time I am ready to purchase a vehicle. Bought a Camry from them that was a rental car which I was already iffy on but they explained the car goes through inspection so I figured okay then the car must be in good shape. Well I was wrong a week later I noticed it had really loud popping sound coming from my front passenger side I was a little concerned but I figured maybe I just went up my driveway at a weird angle I took it in for an oil change and the guy informs me my oil pan is crushed and he is surprised it's holding oil! I just bought this car and yes I know it's used but I figured if anything was wrong with it they would have fixed it before selling. I took it in for the popping because it still had the drivetrain warranty at Toyota and they gave me a list of things wrong with it which none was covered under the warranty because it was due to driver mistakes not the car itself. They quoted me a outrageous amount to fix both the front axles that were popping and now I'm stuck with this piece of shit car I called them two weeks after purchasing the vehicle to explain what happened and what was wrong with the car I got a "well it's your car now" are you fucking serious! What happened to the "inspection" you did. Trading in the car now when I only owned it for a little while what a joke this business says they do inspections on all cars well obviously not good enough. I guess you live and you learn. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. Purchased a 2010 GMC sierra 4x4 from them had a airbag light on they told me they would fix it, never did. I have had the truck for about three months not even 4K miles since I bought it and the transfer case went bad on me (a few grand too fix) which didn't let me drive the truck maybe a month after I bought it. Than the oil pressure sensor went out as well, (truck currently does not run due to a Lifter going bad contacted them spoke with Sal to see if they can help me pay partial of the repairs. I tell him about the issues and he says OK he will help me and never calls back also never received my license plate with my registration now I have to go to the DMV and get it myself.
