Empire Auto Salez - Bought my MDX today, I was comfortable with the down payment and price. - Used Car Dealers Near Me - Modesto, California

Ed is a liar and does not do good business. This dealership should be shut down for good. Bought a car in April and the engine was out in June. He refused to take the car back, won't offer a loaner during the warranty process.... And now won't even give the name of the place the car last had maintenance. He's very unethical and not trustworthy at all. read more

I bought my car from this dealership in February, and it has been nothing but problems since. I've already put over $2,000 into repairs. They told me they fixed the EGR, but they actually installed the wrong size part. They also claimed they put in new brakes and rotors, but my car still makes scraping sounds every time I drive. On top of that, their communication is terrible. Half the time they promised to get back to me, they never did. I constantly had to call them myself just to get any answers. They really got me, I'll admit it -- but I would never recommend this place to anyone. It's not worth the stress, money, or frustration. Go somewhere else that actually stands behind what they sell. read more

I recently just purchase a Truck from here. Pro: The truck ran good, pricing was appropriate. I was able to see my finance APR rate and OOTD prior to buying which was a plus. my overall experience up to this point was good. Con: After I completed the paper work, I went outside to my truck, and saw it was prep all for me to go. This got me really excited and happy. But when I turn on my car, I noticed the gas was empty (They keep all the cars with low gas for security reason). I asked the employee why I didn't get a full tank of gas, and he mentioned it wasn't part of the deal. Also the AC was not cold (The A/C refrigerant was empty). My buying experience was great until the gas and A/C issue. Why cant they just fill up the car and A/C as part of the prep work? Advice: Please send you future customer home happy in a full tank of gas with cold AC on a hot summer day! 2/5 stars read more

This place deserves zero stars. For starting the guy Ed is an arrogant asshole and does not know how to be professional at all. He throw temper tantrums like a child because you tell him he did something wrong. He clearly has anger issues and doesn't know how to emotionally regulate as a normal adult. He clearly scams people and only cares about money. We bought a car from here and it began having issues after a week of driving it. When we called back he said he would schedule appointment to get it fixed but will run around the problem just to call back and say appointment canceled we don't have a mechanic. The mechanic himself seems like a decent guy but because his boss is such a loser he is unable to speak for himself. The guy ed needs a reality check and to lose some weight maybe then he'll be able to find some sense and learn to respect people and not scam them because he so desperate for money. You can really tell someone's rent is due and they are struggling when all they care about is how they can scam for money. The way he disrespected us as customers is unbelievable. When we bought the car he refused to give us the key to look at the engine and rushed the whole process only caring about the down payment on the car. If you are unable to do something don't do it simple. Act like an adult and learn to how to properly run a business. Do not go here to buy a car there is plenty of places to purchase vehicle from that will show you respect. read more

We will never shop here again, nothing but the run around. The day we purchased our vehicle a part fell off the body. We were told it would be replaced. We took time off work to bring the car in, a part was installed and it didn't even fit!! They expected us to be ok with that? No! Then apologized and said they would have it professionally repaired and that's when they stopped communicating with us. It's sad as we need another vehicle and I like to shop local but never again will they get our money Our pretty car is not so pretty read more

Shout out to the guys at Empire thank you for taking care of us! We bought my sons first blue civic back in April and he was in love unfortunately someone hit his car and it was totaled so I went back to Ed and bam he made magic happen again he got almost the same exact car with less miles on it! The owner's attitude is so nasty and unprofessional. I called to inquire about the price of a vehicle. In return, I received a very misleading and unprofessional text. I noticed that after I answered the text, no one texted an answer back. I sent another text and the guy sent back texts going off. I heard that he was something else and he proved it. I would not suggest anyone to do business with this man. He throws temper tantrums and that is not a good business tactic. read more

I highly recommend any and all to not purchase a vehicle from Empire Auto Salez! On day one of picking up the car, 8/8/22, we noticed smoke puffing out the exhaust and called Empire Auto as soon as we got home. Spoke with Alberto who said call back the next day when the manager, Ed is in. We also noticed the oil was overfilled, thinking that could be the issue. We took the car down and the mechanic at the location did an oil change. A few days later we reported the car still blowing out white smoke when revving in park and when taking off from a stop. Ed said to get the car looked at and we will go from there. Took the car to a mechanic who said he was surprised it passed smog and it would be a lot of money to fix, bad valve stem seals or piston rings. I did not produced til I spoke with Ed on the issue. He said bring the car back and he will check it out. I did and he hooked it up to a code reader which it did not have any error codes. Ed revved it and saw smoke and said it smelled like gas. He offered to take the car to Hyundai for a diagnostic. They suggested a carbon cleaning and fuel injector cleaning service which Empire would not pay for and sprayed something in the engine for carbon build up and they told me to use fuel injector cleaner for a few takes, the smoke will go away. I trusted his word and did as suggested. A few tanks of fuel injector cleaner later and the smoke was still coming out of the exhaust and I was having to add a quart of oil once a week. I changed the spark plugs and noticed a lot of gunk built up on them. On 10/8/22 I took the car to another mechanic and showed him and he said the engine most likely needs to be replaced. I let Ed know that I was going to get a better diagnostic at Hyundai and the appointment was two weeks out 10/24/22. He said no problem, let's see what they say. I took the car to Hyundai and showed them the spark plugs and had them do another diagnostic. They noted "this engine is not performing as designed and the replacement of the engine is inevitable, and will be needed in the near future." I texted Ed and let him know the results and he responded that he no longer worked for Empire Auto. We called the business and Alberto was not aware of Ed quitting but said he would let the owner know of our issue and we would get a call back. We got no call back and called again. Alberto again said he would let the owner know and we will hear back. After a week we called and spoke to Ed who was employed by Empire Atuo once again. He asked if he had the pink slip and that he will find out what can be done and call us back. He ended up texting back saying Empire Auto was purchased by EAS1Corp as of 10/15/22 and to email DHGNIS@aol.com who I guess is the previous owner and deal with them, named Ajay. Ed was not authorized to give out Ajay's phone number. We emailed and didn't get a response. We reached out to Ed to see if the old owner had received our email and asked that he checked with him. He said ok. A day later still no response. We texted Ed to please be honest with us and if he thinks we will get a response. Soon after and 3.5 days after the original email we get a response from David Hgnis(Ajay??)stating Empire auto closed permanently as of September 2022 and if we got a warranty to go that route and if not then we bought the car as is. I'm still able to call Empire Auto Salez and see they are still in business???? We paid cash, $16,000 for a car that needs a new engine and Empire Auto has done absolutely nothing for us and basically screwed us over for a lot of money and a car we cannot sell due to it not being able to pass smog. If you are considering purchasing a vehicle from this used car lot and looking through reviews to help you make a decision to do business with them, please take my advice and do not purchase a vehicle from them. I will be reporting the business to the Better Business Bureau as well look into legal action to get either the necessary repairs the car needs that existed the day we bought it or get our money back and give the car back. read more

When you're car shopping and have challenging credit, the process becomes discouraging. But not here with Ed. Short backstory, I found a similar car in Livermore at another dealership. Price, make and model, miles..all similar. But I was declined financing. And no other option was given. Just a plain out no. Didn't ask me if I had a co signer, more money down, nothing. Ed was able to help me get into a car..fast and efficiently. Literally drove test the car the night before and had numbers the same night. Next morning, signed papers and was on my way to work with my new car by 930am. Thanks again Ed! read more

do not buy a car here! we purchased a 2011 bmw 535i that was previously being driven by the owner and his wife. car came with no heater, no a/c, dirty and low on oil and a faulty aftermarket fuel pump the connectors didnt match either so they spliced and used electrical tape. the car is currently at bmw $2,300 for a new a/c $1700 for new fuel pump and connector. bmw stayed they would've replaced fuel pump under recall for free. except empire auto sales changed it with the aftermarket so now bmw won't cover it. my husband replaced the heater himself and that was around $400. empire auto sales forgot to smog our car that they charged us for. so we had to take it in on our time. read more

If I could give this place a negative rating it would be negative 1000! These people sold me a vehicle that had a messed up transmission . I've only had the car 8-9 months. There's no way I could have caused damage so quickly to the tranny, I only drive it to and from work. When I called Ed he didn't even offer to help repair the car that he personally stated was in "great condition ". All he did was refer me to a tranny specialist. DONT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE! They rip you off! Hope you enjoyed those $3,000 that I put down!! read more

I took my friend car shopping, today, expecting, well, a long, tedious day of looking at a lot of cars, and find few to none in his price range- and those not exactly in good shape. Our initial tries at finding a good car were...not too successful. However, I'd seen some good reviews on Empire Auto Sales, in Modesto, CA, and...so I decided, what the heck, why not give them a try; and the man in charge there, Ed, was very knowledgeable, and showed us pretty much every car on the lot that fell within my friend's price range- and there were quite a few. And- at all time, the people there were friendly, and willing to help. They made it clear that even those of us on fixed incomes deserved to be treated well- and to have a good vehicle. Well, my friend found himself a very nice Mazda, took it for a test drive, and drove it home, today, quite satisfied with the experience he'd had, and the respect he'd been shown. Now, this is an expanding business- a business that doesn't try to sell you a car you can't afford. They've got a small shop onsite to fix the little problems that each car they get might have- after all, they don't make money when someone brings a car back- so the people at Empire make sure that folks Don't need to bring the car back. Very good business model, that. Now, my friend doesn't have internet service, so I promised Ed at Empire a good review, for the way he treated my friend- and the way he treated me- and I was just the driver. I'll tell you this much- the next time I'm in the market for a vehicle, I'll be going to Empire. read more

I was in the market for a used truck, and stumbled upon this place after looking online for a while. I was a bit skeptical at first, as I have usually purchased new vehicles from big name/ more popular dealerships in the past, and I hadn't bought from a smaller used car dealership for a very long time; however, I decided to reach out to Empire, as they had the specific used vehicle that I was looking for. I first spoke with Robert over the phone, and he was awesome! I asked him for a bunch of pictures (from specific angles), and information about the truck I was interested in, as I live over 100 miles away from the dealership, and I wanted to make sure the truck was worth my time to make the trip. Robert took, and sent me many detailed pictures right away, and he answered all of my questions that I had regarding the vehicle. I decided that I wanted to make the trek down to Modesto from Vallejo to view the vehicle in person, as Robert's customer service made me feel like I was in good hand's. Once there, I got to meet Robert in person, and he was a really nice, non-pushy, and respectable salesman. He let me take my time to inspect the vehicle, and gave me no pressure at all. I decided I wanted the vehicle after looking at it, and he introduced me to Alberto, the financial/ paperwork guy. Alberto was Awesome too, and he also, was not pushy at all; in fact, Alberto was a very funny, and down to earth guy, who made the paperwork process a fun, and hassle-free experience. I took the vehicle home that day, and it's been about a month since, as of the time of me writing this review, and the vehicle has been trouble-free so far, and I am still happy. I can honestly say that I would recommend this place to those individuals in the market for a good used vehicle, as the customer service at Empire is great, honest, and pressure-free. Be advised though that the dealership, like most smaller used-car dealerships, is in a somewhat questionable part of town, and there are some interesting characters in the neighborhood that may pop up (for example, as I was looking at my vehicle, a sketchy-looking person popped up and asked me if He could borrow a slim Jim to break into his car that he got locked out of lol), but if you can overlook that, I think this dealership will work for you. Also, I'd like to point out that when I was there, there was a repeat customer there looking to purchase another vehicle from Empire- that says a lot to me, and definitely ads credence to their great customer service! A+ experience......... for a small, used car dealership! read more

They had a lot of cars that were nice so it was hard to choose. I set my mind on the Honda Civic and I'm really happy with it. When I got it the ac was not working but they were able to reimburse me for the fees with no problem. While signing for it Ed offered to put it in writing that they would either fix it or pay to fix since I'm from San Jose. & I appreciated that cause it showed he was looking for my best interest. I would definitely recommend this dealership to my family & friends. read more
