I bought a 2018 Chevy Tahoe from DriveTime in Modesto back in June 2025, and stupidly shelled out extra cash for their so-called "extended warranty" through SilverRock, thinking it'd actually mean something. What a joke! Last week, every damn light on my dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree, the engine crapped out, and I lost all power--stranded and pissed off. Took it to the Chevrolet dealership because that is where SilverRock said I needed to take it, and they hit me with a $3,700+ bill for a transmission bypass valve and fluid change ($920.21), tire pressure sensors ($496.00), a collapsed driver-side motor mount ($1,318.88), and some rear shock absorbers they say are shot ($968.40). Guess what? SilverRock flat-out denied EVERY SINGLE CLAIM, saying my warranty-- which I'm still paying for--covers squat! And because those cheapskates won't cover the repairs, they're also refusing to pay for my rental car while this useless hunk of junk sits in the shop. Are you kidding me? DriveTime's whole "easy car buying" pitch is a load of garbage, and their warranty is a total scam. I'm out thousands, furious, and done with their nonsense. If you're dumb enough to buy from DriveTime, read the fine print and brace yourself to get screwed--because their customer service and warranty are absolute trash. They need to get their act together and stop ripping people off! read more

Worse experience ever. I did my application sent in my documents that they needed. Jose called me we finalized everything all I needed to do was go get the car. Told me how much I would be paying monthly etc approved. He was getting the car ready. Well if I hadn't of called him to let him know we were on our way we would of never found out that the car wasn't available apparently it was on hold for someone else which made no sense because we had just did our paperwork. Jose was so terrible at communicating and all he said was sorry. That's not good enough you ran my credit gave us monthly payment amount so the car wasn't ours but instead they decided to give it so someone else. Honestly should have read the reviews first lol. Bought a car from them 8 days later my car starts acting funny. Take it to get diagnosed and they said I needed a whole new transmission. (Free with warranty) because it hasn't been 30 days I said okay. I have now had the car for a month and I have driven it 12 times in 8 days out of the month the rest it has been at the shop. Absolutely bullshit. Do not recommend getting a car here what so ever. They sell shitty used cars. read more

I read the other reviews after I bought a car from DriveTime in Modesto. I don't think I would've gone there to buy any car had I researched the dealership first. The negative comments would've chased me away. Perhaps me sharing my previous experience in car sales with some of the staff, made my experience pretty good, having some knowledge on what to expect when buying car. On the other hand for this to be a five-star, would have taken the salesperson Ryan, to complete the sales with a clean, freshly washed car. As unimportant as that may seem, it's a very big detail. I have had this car for less than six months and it's been nothing but trouble. First the breaks were an issue, now it needs a new transmission. I have been without my car for almost three weeks and I just keep going back and forth with the warranty and the maintenance about what is approved and what needs to be checked. I haven't had this car for almost three weeks and it is ridiculous. I bought this car specifically for commuting and now I have to rent a car to get me to work and miss days off from work. On top of that i have to be the one that calls the warranty and the maintenance cause nobody tells me nothing. From crackheads in the office, to the amount of time it took to finally get out the door after completing the paperwork online, this just wasn't the spot. Veronica who helped was fantastic, but everything else was 100% lacking. The employees can only do such a good job if the business behind them is lacking. Fast forward 2 months after getting my car, the plates never arrived. When calling they were very rude. Was essentially told to buzz off. Additionally tags weren't paid as was advised during the purchase (a witness was with me who heard the same). First off, I've bought new cars, used cars, all types over the years. From Manufacturer dealer, to used lots. Never have had an issue with receiving my plates or tags. Never had to chase down a missing or lost plate myself, after paying to have it done. Honestly I could have recommended this dealer, but going to just instead maintain my positivity and only say, best of luck to you if you choose this. They were no help, made no attempt to help, was just told to "go give the DMV a call and pay the fee to replace them". Never will return & cannot recommend. read more

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS PLACE!!!!! I purchased a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid from Monte and Jeremiah on July 19. They asked me to leave a review before I left and I obliged since the process in purchasing was fairly smooth. However 29 days into owning the vehicle my check engine light came on with an error message to check the hybrid system. After wasting way more time than I even had on the phone chasing a repair shop in the Silver Rock warranty network, I was turned away because even though it was within the 30 days I was over the mileage allotment. Complete crap. You should be ashamed of yourselves drivetime!!! IVE MADE ONE PAYMENT, and now I'm forced to fork out money out of pocket to fix your lemon. When we got pre-approved, we were excited. Drive 1 1/2 to get there. Upon arrival, noticed it was not clean, cats were filthy and looked as if it was just a storage yard. We walked into the building and waited for 3-5 minutes before someone acknowledges us. We asked about a car and the man used the remote to open it and told us it was open and walked away.After looking at the car, we walked inside. Everyone was wearing t-shirts and ragged shorts or sweats. 1 man got up to finally help us. We were told over the phone that we had pre-approved for zero down and 9%. Of course the gentleman we were talking to was off on weekends but told us he would be here on the weekend. After checking, they offered us 500 down 20% rate. Father in law had called in advance to make sure they can accept 2k down at a 350 payment. they had said yes to him but when my husband went in the payment went up to 590$ @10% interest. If I could give NO stars I definitely would! This place is absolute trash. They hound the hell out of you to get you up in there, then sell you a shitty car with engine damage. At least that's how they did me. Ryan, initially was a cool guy but no he just as shady. Long story short, bought the car on April 26, 2023. It has been in the shop since July 22, 2023. Silverock is trash and all they ever give you is the run around. Drivetime was quick to take themselves out of the equation and refer me to "customer relations" which was absolutely NO help. During this process I have been told that I had the engine replaced... In December of 2022!!! How Sway! I didn't even know this car existed until April 2023! I know nothing about an engine being replaced. Ryan was quick to ask me to write a review before we were even done with the process when buying the car and I unfortunately trusted him.
