Such a disappointment, had been looking forward to trying this spot for awhile. My salmon salad has the absolute most disgusting tasting and dried out piece of fish I had ever tried. I couldn't finish more than a few small tastes. The main ingredient of the salad seemed to be red onion-no fun or flavorful ingredients. My son ordered the BBQ chicken which was mostly bones and the sides of sweet and red skin potatoes were both dried out and not edible. I will be buying him a second lunch. My husband had a steak sandwich, three tiny pieces of steak and tons of aioli. The only satisfied diner was my other son with a cup of soup. Mod Market is the quality of a fancy, local, very original restaurant, but you can show up in workout clothes and get your meal in minutes. Even on a busy lunch rush (the friendly cashier said he had never seen it so busy) everyone in the kitchen was busting their butts and SO FRIENDLY despite how stressful it must have been. They've never messed up my complicated order (picky healthy eater.) and its always prompt and fresh. I love that they have a seasonal menu. The simplicity and consistency of mod market makes it my favorite "fast food" place in boulder. We also go here for date night, because why not. read more

Disappointed. I was the only customer when I walked in except a couple that was picking up 2 salads and had already ordered. I know this because the counter person was apologizing to them and said they would re-make their salads. Everybody was super friendly and courteous. Ok so my first time there and I ordered the basil chicken sandwich. Waiting at the pickup counter for only a few minutes, the pager buzzes and I am handed a yellow bag from a cheery employee and I head back to work. I get back and open same yellow bag to find a salad containing prosciutto and white beans and lots of onion. Although it looked good I was really looking for something totally different, obviously. I will probably give them another shot but honestly? The only other people there had just returned salads and I'm wondering if this was one of them. I've gone to Mod Market on several occasions and have sampled a variety of their salads, sandwiches, and pizzas. I don't have special nutritional requirements, such as gluten free foods or organic, but I can appreciate that they cater to these needs for others. I simply go for the good food. And it is good! I'm a fan of flatbread pizzas over something like Pizza Hut or Domino's so this is what I usually get. You can't go wrong here-I personally like the BBQ pizza. And I'm normally not a huge fan of fancy salads but I was pleasantly surprised by the Farmer salad I recently had, which includes chicken. The chicken was a tad dry but the dressing and other ingredients were great and made me realize that I should eat salads more often, because I really do like them when done right. My date had a salad with tofu and I normally avoid tofu when possible, but I tried a bit and agreed with her that it was quite good. Additional compliments for the atmosphere, which is remarkably stylish for Boulder, and inexpensive wines. They serve Barefoot wines, which aren't luxurious but are priced accordingly, at about $2/glass which is less than I think I've seen wine anywhere. Other beverage choices include some bottled beers and organic sodas. The ONLY downside, as others have suggested is that it's not the quickest place to dine. I don't try to fit it into my lunch period but instead go later in the evening when I can really sit down with a friend in a nice atmosphere, enjoy tasty and healthy food, and a glass of wine for a very fair price. read more

Probably one of my new favorite places to eat! I really like the atmosphere, and I think the grass on the wall is really cool :p So far I've had one of their salads, I don't remember which one, and the eggplant and goat cheese sandwich. So so so delicious. There portions are pretty big too, which I like, because I'm always hungry. The fountain drinks they have don't use any high fructose corn syrup (I read it on their cup, haha) and they are really good. I feel so healthy when I go there. read more

However, they immediately set about making my pizza, it only took 5 minutes, and the manager gave me a free meal coupon for my next visit. THAT'S customer service! Meh. Food was passable. Ordered a side of Jicama salad, which literally had no jicama in it. I would have called it a carrot salad and maybe we would have ordered it anyway, but it was supposed to be a jicama salad. I tried this place after going GF and loved it. I ordered the Basil Chicken sandwich on a gluten-free wrap and it was delicious. I'm no longer GF but I still go there and order it (and that's saying something because most GF bread/ wraps I've tried are disgusting). My only complaint is they are inconsistent. Some days the food is great and other days its just okay - it depends on who makes your food. My husband and I visited here for lunch. It's a big space with seating down 2/3 of it and the kitchen down the other side so you can see them cooking and preparing the food. I had the Thai coconut salad and my husband had half flatiron salad and half margarita pizza...a definite bonus is you can order half sizes so you can try a couple of things if you can't decide or if you wanna be half good half naughty. Although all the food seems quite healthy with options to get dressing light medium heavy or on the side. They have soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza and even protein with sweet potato and salad for those wanting to meet their macros or are paleo. Everything also has calorie, protein, carbs and fat contents on all the meals and it even prints out on the receipt so you really know what you area eating. The food was really good (I don't really like dressing very much so got mine on the side...but it was delicious!!) and my husband enjoyed his salad and pizza. Twice now I've been, and they give me this thing that's supposed to buzz when my food is ready. Both times i have ended up waiting 20-25 minutes for my food, when eventually someone from behind the counter yells out my order asking who's it is. I saw both orders sitting on the counter for 10-15mins...My buzzer never buzzed... So why do i have the buzzer.... Good food, but truthfully not worth my time. I had salmon with three vegetable sides and none had butter! They SUPPORT YOUR HEALTH by using olive or canola oils. Two dollar wine was a bonus. There are a lot of healthy choices, the food comes fast for those sho are hungry, and you can stay as long as you want, talking to your friends. I have to agree with other reviews....they've gone WAY downhill. I have LOVED the chipotle steak sandwich for years. Every time I go there it's what I get. With the latest visit that sandwich was OK at best. They only put about 1/3 of the meat that I would normally receive; there were parts of the sandwich that I was literally eating ciabatta with lettuce and dressing. I looove modmarket! First of all the decor is very modern and awesome. The pizza is great because the organic ingredients make it tastes REAL unlike nasty delivery pizza... they pop the pizza into the oven right in front of you so you know exactly what your getting! but my all time favorite part of modmarket is the soup... butternut squash soup is my weakness and its great that they have these seasonal delights! The prices are also reasonable and its fast so when your on the go its great to take along! definitely a place to be! read more

Mod Market has been on my "casual restaurant" rotation since it opened in Boulder. I visit it once every 1-2 weeks. It's the most expensive place on my rotation, which is somewhat annoying, but I do like the food so they still get 4 stars. :) Pros: - They will make the Nutella dessert pizza with pear if you ask, which is a *far* superior flavor combination than the default strawberry - try it!! - They moved the registers before the salad bar - THANK YOU! The other way around was sooo annoying for sandwich/flatbread customers like me - The chicken basil combo (with double salad instead of Pop Chips) rocks! Salad dressing is a healthy vinaigrette and the cheese on the sandwich is kept to a modest amount - no gross blobs of it running out the side. Flavor remains at a max! EDIT: They added cherry tomatoes recently to combo salad- Yum! - While they dumped their original, fantastic, crusty bread for the chicken basil sandwich (I didn't mind the roof-of-mouth recovery period, really!), the replacement bread isn't offensively soft and boring (unlike almost every other place I have sandwiches) EDIT: Turns out it's the same bread, just baked a little less. Tasty! - Love the Diet Cane Cola, despite the extended "foam-die-down" time experienced when filling up your glass Cons: - Moved from rectangular to round flatbreads. Lame. It's just pizza now! - Moved to big, lazy slices of bell pepper, other toppings from the original small dice that facilitated easy bites without need for a fork and knife - I think they started putting more cheese on their flatbreads than in the old days. EDIT: You can order it with less. :) The (probably overly picky) cons moved me away from their flatbreads and toward their sandwich/salad menu, but still, love it enough to pay a bit extra. Tip: Don't sit anywhere near the front door on cold days. You will be frozen in place within seconds. read more

Modmarket is a great "healthy fast food" restaurant. We go here for dinner regularly. Their gluten-free options are fantastic, to the point that my man prefers the gluten-free pizza to the regular pizza crust. They have the best gluten-free pizza crust that I have ever had, by far. I wish I could get it for my freezer to make my own pizza at home. The only reason that it isn't 5 stars is because I wish they gave a little more protein on everything than they do. read more

This was our first visit and I didn't expect much but was attracted by the market fresh food sign in their window. I ordered the flank steak with smashed potToes androasted broccolini. It was delish! The flank steak had a nice sear & was medium rare in the center. My husband had the pizza and it wasn't great. The crust was not crispy at all & it looked greasy. The decor lacks a lot to be desired. The seats look cheap and are not comfortable. They are hard plastic & look like they came out of Dairy Queen. I'm sure this is some designer's attempt to look hip & trendy but it's not a place that you can can just sit down and have a relaxing meal in. There was some annoying music playing & the lighting is very bright. I noticed most people ordered food to go. Their salads looked very good too. I would eat here again but do take out. read more

I came for breakfast, which I feel is a lesser known thing that they have. This time I got the pear-apple waffle and it was absolutely amazing! The waffle was just a little crisp on the outside and light and fluffy interior. The fruit topping was seriously amazing. I can't say enough about it! Coffee was great and it was all ready very fast. Wow! My first time, and I was quite impressed. The menu was varied without being overwhelming. The ordering process was easy and the staff helpful. The food came surprisingly quickly, in about 10 minutes. And the prices were incredibly reasonable, particularly given the stellar quality of the food. I had the steak lunch with Ginger Maple Veggies and Rosemary Sweet Potato Mash. I was in heaven! The meat was tender, juicy, flavorful (a subtle marinade?) and plentiful enough to take home for a second meal. The tri-color carrots in the mixed veggies tasted like they just came out of my grandfather's garden, and were cooked just right - neither over-crunchy or soft mush. And the fresh rosemary beautifully enhanced the brightness of the sweet potatoes, which must have been organic, based on the intensity of the flavor. Last, but not least, the sauce served with the steak was so green and fresh it nearly jumped off the plate. My husband had a no-dairy pizza with which he was very impressed. Even the mushrooms had just the right consistency, and the blend of flavors more than made up for the absence of cheese. Finally a place that has super quality healthy fast food!
