I accidentally left my purse on the floor with my ID, cash, and credit cards inside. That misunderstanding alone wouldn't have been an issue. What was upsetting was how he was treated. The woman who appeared to be the owner's wife was extremely rude and abrupt. She pointed at him and said, "No! He can sit and wait!" in a way that was demeaning and made him feel very uncomfortable. Regardless of the policy, there is simply no reason to speak to a customer that way. Because of that interaction, we chose not to stay and instead drove to a nearby town for another Italian dinner. The contrast was striking--we were greeted warmly, treated with kindness, and had a wonderful experience. That's where we'll be taking our business going forward. We understand restaurants are busy and stressful, but how customers are treated matters just as much as the food.
