Tacoma Pie is awesome. It's the kind of place I'm always looking for in Tacoma. A mom and pop style pizza joint where you can get a slice and even occasionally get a delicious Eggplant Parmesan Hero. They're Jersey Hoagie is miles beyond Jersey Mike's so if hero's are your thing, you need to try Jersey Mike's. They also have an impressive bar with an incredibly knowledgeable bartender who can school you on the subtleties of aperetifs and digestifs and make great recommendations.

This was highly recommended to us by a girl at the art shop who said they served Detroit style pizza, served both whole pie and slice options, had a beer garden that was dog friendly, and a bar that serves quality cocktails and $5 frenet shots? Sounded like an awesome place. We trekked our hungry selves over and plopped ourselves down in their casual but welcoming beer garden, which has a full length bocce ball area. There were a few families and groups enjoying themselves, and seems like biking here as a family is popular which is cute. The space is bigger than expected, with an area to sit at the front counter, a back bar, a middle room that has a wall open to the street and features local art, and the backyard beer garden area. They actually have a good selection of items to choose from on their menu, including salads, sandwiches, pot pies and desserts. I was super tempted by the chicken pot pie and the eggplant Parm sandwich but we HAD to try the OG slices. We got a cheese and a pizza slice, $6 and $7 respectively. They bring out the pizza piping hot, and be warned the sauce inside is HOT! But wow, the pizza definitely is worth the praise. The bread that served as the base is both dense and fluffy with a nice thin crust from a high temp bake in the oven. The tomato pizza sauce is definitely house made - it tasted so fresh and was thick. The top is a good quality cheese that is extra browned for extra flavor and texture. The deep dish pizza here is worth the trek and every oenny. Flavor, texture, ambiance...everything was on point. I definitely would love to come back and try more options, as they have some cool pizza topping combos.

If you're in the area or not. Go eat here. The pizza is amazing. Some of the best Detroit style pizza in the state. The Hawaiian has balsamic onions. A great twist. The waitress was so kind and everyone is very accommodating. You can get to go or eat there. Either way. Do yourself a favor and get pizza there. Also had the house salad which was also really good

AMAZING! I can't recommend this pizza enough. The edges were crispy and good. I couldn't wait to eat before taking a picture

Hubby and I were craving a true Detroit-style pizza. The reviews looked pretty good. The location is right up the street from Tacoma Boys, one of our favorite little market stops, so we were very happy about this. The staff is friendly and the restaurant has a welcoming and unassuming vibe. The pizzas are handmade and the ingredients are said to be fresh. We ordered pepperoni, sausage and mushroom. I REALLY wanted to like this pizza and this may just be my personal opinion but the pizza sauce is extremely tangy. Too much so. The crust was too fluffy for my liking. And the sausage did not seem not fresh. It had the consistency of cat food. I truly hate to say this. My husband gave it a 7.1 out of 10. I gave it a 6.5.

This is an update to my previous review. I had the most fantastic pizza tonight. We went in around 9:00 and they only had pepperoni and combination Detroit slices available. I felt kind of bad asking for a slice of cheese pizza, but I'm vegetarian, so I did. It was no problem at all! They made an entire pizza for our two slices. The cashier/bartender/ everything lady was so nice! We chatted for a while and I had a wonderful time. The cook was also awesome and very kind! He quickly made our pizza and it was perfect. I very much appreciated him. They also had some new, delicious looking desserts. A couple different kinds of cookies and bread pudding. Definitely next time! Thank you all.

As someone not familiar with the pizza scene in Tacoma, I was just looking for a quality pizza spot. After trying Tacoma Pie I think I have found one of my personal favorite pizza places in all of western Washington. Tacoma Pie specializes in square Detroit-style pies. This pizza made a very good first impression on me, a cheesy crispy crust, and each bite had a very satisfying crunch to it. Another standout to me was the very savory and flavorful sauce, good helping of cheese and tasty pepperoni. Even though I just had a pickup order the person working the counter was very nice and welcoming. I am already planning on when I will be coming back next, and Tacoma Pie is a place I definitely will be recommending to others.

As i wait for pizza, i was able to talk with Lucas who was very helpful and knowledgeable about their pizza, thank you. As soon as I pulled into parking i could smell the deliciousness! And to make things heavenlier, there was that beautiful bread pudding little pie like treat. Waiting for me. I hope its as good as it looks. Id definitely come here with my group of friends to hang, eat, drink and enjoy. I ordered a dip dish with mushrooms onion and garlic...fantastic! The edges are crispy cheesy and soooo goood. Bravo. The place is clean. Smells great, good parking and plenty of indoot & outdoor space. Wow the Bread Pudding is a must have. It has a slight crunch on top, super moist with pecans, the right amount of chocolate chips and you can taste the banana. Im so happy this is my last meal in Washington after 3 weeks of ok food. Thank you

Tacoma pi had been on my list to try for probably about a year. I was starving today, and really wanted pizza, and was looking at my saved places to try list which brought me here. Let me just say, I am so mad I didn't try this earlier! First thing is I was a little skeptical at the size of the pizza. I'm a big boy and my wife can put some pizza down herself, so when he told me that there was only one size I was like oh darn these prices are kind of high for a small tiny Pizza. Let me stop that thought process right here, THIS IS NOT A TINY PIZZA. What you're actually getting is 8 slices of deep dish, cheese to the crust, piled high toppings. My wife and I split it in half and each got four, and both of us could not eat that many slices, we each ended up taking home two slices. The ingredients tasted fresh, it took about 30 minutes to make the pie which says to me that it's not sitting on a warmer somewhere. I also want to point out, which I didn't get to try, they had like banana bread muffins/cinnamon roll things. Those looked amazing as well. Service was wonderful too. The redhead guy was super helpful in explaining the way everything works and prices and making us feel like he valued us as a customer. I love the atmosphere too, they had the door open and you got to sit inside an inside area but have the nice breeze of being outside. Literally the only downside that I would say, and this is so small, is a place like this, serving canned mug Root beer, kind of sucks. There are some really great local soda places, I truely wish they partnered with a local brand to sell their soda. A place this good shouldn't be held back by bad soda....also it should be on Fountain so that you could get a refill. Super secret pro tip: get as many corner pieces as you can before other people realize how the corner pieces are most definitely the best piece.

We decided to make the trip to Tacoma to try out this place. A friend recommended this place. We were not led astray. Lol We were greeted right away. The guy that was taking our order was very friendly and helpful. Told us what to expect. We placed our order and sat down. There was inside and outdoor seating. It was pretty open at around 1:30 pm on a Sunday but I imagine they get packed quick on a Friday or Saturday. Parking was accessible. Received our order relatively quick. Pizza was piping hot. The crust was the perfect texture. Soft and chewy yet crispy. The sauce tasted homemade. And they piled it on which I LOVE. Pizza toppings were good. I got a Caesar salad. It was good. We were pleasantly surprised on how good the pizza was. Its close to where we live. Definitely would go back and try other flavors/toppings. They also have a bar.

Lady at the front is the sweetest girl ever!!!! The maui was amazing but the one next to it was a bit too salty for my liking. Regardless great night time atmosphere with accommodating staff and food!

Pizza is good. I don't know if it's $35 good, but it's good. But the wings are turrible. Like eating raw clumps of fat. Or, rather, peeling the raw floppy gross chicken skin off each wing to make it edible. Not super happy ove

Delicious Detroit style pizza, really nice staff, and cute little dine in area. Excellent crispy cheese edges, well seasoned sauce, and good toppings. Wish the bottom had been a tad crispier but can probably get that during reheat since it's hefty and definitely leftovers for 2 people.

I also was the unfortunate one to have the sun straight and my face for about half of our dinner. Service was hit or mess. We waited a long time with no check in for more cocktails. The cocktail choices are great, however, they were out of a particular cocktail my friend wanted to order. We started with the meatballs, not good. The sauce however was phenomenal! Meatballs were just very dense and dry. The appetizer came out not even 5 minutes after our order was put in, so they were lukewarm at best. When we ordered our pizza, they were out of the homemade sausage, this was Saturday night at 6pm???, so we ordered the foraged pizza as is. The pizza was delicious. My friends ordered the Marguerita - crust was a bit over done. Food was good- $30 a pizza good, not in my opinion.
