I asked the employee if they make it on site, and she said yes, but then I asked if it was premade, and she also said yes. I was really confused. She gave me a cute plastic can of boba, so I'm pretty sure I just paid $6 for an ube drink without tapioca. It was way too sweet for me, and I normally really like sweet drinks. She said they can't change the sweetness as it is premade. I feel like they could have a less sweet premade drink and subsequently add sweetener to it as needed. I got a massive stomachache. THE BIG: Located in the Linc in central Austin right off of I35. Big space with a sweet smell of mochi donuts. Plenty of parking in the parking lot, however it does get full fast. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The original one is on Parmer lane inside the Hana grocery store. I typically grab the regular hitters like the Ube, yuzu and yogurt. however they have some really interesting flavors like the pistachio, fruity pebbles, and banana milk. Some other good ones are the mango and black sesame. The donuts are shaped so you know it's a mochidonut. Each donut can be ripped into smaller donut holes and has a beautiful bounce to their chew. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, for a 3-piece box of donuts the damage was around $9. Each donut is priced differently though, so your mileage may vary. Got a box of 6 and liked most of the options. Watermelon lychee was a bit too fruity and lavender a bit too floral for my liking but all the rest were universally liked amongst our group. Cookies and cream was by far the winner but churro, funnel cake, biscoff and original were all good too. And the price is expensive for donuts but worth it. Gluten free too! For those that don't know what Mochinut is it is a cafe that serves desserts in the form of mochi donuts, snacks such as Korean hot dogs and ramen, and boba drinks. We went on a Friday night and had a mochinut! A mochinut is a donut made of mochi (usually combo of rice/water/sugar/cornstarch) - so the donut is crispy on the outside but chewy on the outside. It is not as sweet as a Krispy Kreme donut and not overly yeast/dense like a Round Rock donut. The flavors we tried were the chocolate pistachio, raspberry powdered sugar, and Ube. I enjoyed the donuts as they weren't overly sweet and heavy, but still filling and sweet enough to satisfy sweet tooth. They also had Korean hot dogs, which are basically corn dogs stuffed/filled with different things (hot dogs, potatoes, or mozzarella). They also sell Korean instant ramen where you can add your own toppings. The shop itself is so cute bright purple! And had seating enough for 14 people and couple of tables outside. There was only one person taking orders and making things when we went, but she was fast and efficient. Parking is free and plentiful. read more

It was my first time getting some mochi donuts. The ladies were super helpful explaining them to me and handling my order. The spot is clean and spacious. Makes for a cute date night desert spot, or a weekend hang out. Parking is plentiful and free. I walked out with 3 mochinuts: milk tea (for the boba lover in me), mango lychee (big lychee fan), and strawberry funnel cake (for my family). All are very sweet so eating 3 in one sitting is not ideal. This could be an acquired taste - half my family didn't like it. But if you're a mochi fan like me, you'll appreciate it. So on a quest to find the new Somi Somi we saw Mochinut and decided to check it out. Now, I know that it was a long shot to find a gluten free mochi donut but I've found a few other places before so we stopped in to see what they had. Now the store was very clean and the employees were nice but there are no strictly gluten free options. They use imported flour but that doesn't really help me so I had to pass. The donuts they do have do look very nicely decorated so I'm sure that the regular patrons will have no issues finding something. I visited this location today with my family. I was really excited to try the mango matcha and donuts, but unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing due to the customer service. I ordered a matcha and wasn't satisfied with the taste. I politely asked if it could be remade, and while they did remake it, the attitude was unprofessional. At one point, the cup was handed to me in a very aggressive manner, which made me uncomfortable. I went back to the counter and calmly asked if they could simply add extra ice and milk because the drink was too sweet. I was told in a rude tone that this would be "the second time" they were making it, even though I was not asking for a full remake -- just a small adjustment. The staff appeared annoyed, ignored me at moments, and made me feel like I was asking for something unreasonable. I did not ask for a refund. It was never about the money. I simply wanted to enjoy the drink I paid for. As a business owner myself, I understand that customer satisfaction and respectful service are extremely important. If a customer is unhappy, offering an exchange or refund in a professional manner is standard practice. Unfortunately, the poor attitude and lack of basic customer service made us leave. I hope management addresses this, as the product may be good, but the service needs serious improvement. read more
