Came by on a Saturday afternoon around lunchtime, and they were quite busy. Lots of people waiting outside to order, and the drive through had a line wrapping around too. Parking was surprisingly easy though, plenty of street parking available since it's across from the historic Water Tower Park. No indoor seating here, it's a purely outdoor counter setup where you pick your donuts on display, place your order, and someone brings it out to you. Seating is minimal, so it's kind of find your own spot, or people just eat in their car or take it to go. This place is highly ranked on Yelp as one of the best donut shops in the US, so I had to check it out. All the donuts here are super affordable, which is surprising for such a famous shop. They also have the Texas Donut, an extra large option for around $12, but it was way too big for us this time around, would love to try it in the future. Maple Donut ($1.19, 8/10) - Sweet, slightly crispy exterior with a nice soft interior - Didn't feel oily, and held its shape well - Good maple flavor without tasting like thick syrupy caramel, quality stuff Texas Sized Baked Cinnamon Roll with Nuts ($2.99, 6/10) - Absolutely massive, could easily feed four people - We split it between two and it was honestly way too much, got a little sick of it by the end - A bit doughy, wasn't sure if it had been heated up - Impressive for the portion size, but probably wouldn't get it again unless sharing with a bigger group or spreading it out over a few days Overall, glad we stopped by one of the best rated donut shops in the US. The donuts were delicious, and we'll definitely be back to try more. Bummed I didn't get to try the glazed donut this time, that's next on the list, along with the Texas Donut to share with a group. Heads up that everything here is pretty sweet, so grab a coffee or split it with friends so it's not overwhelming.
Cons: Few parking available, I arrived at 9:40 and saw options but as soon as I got off the car everything was full, no tables to sit at, wasn't a fan of their latte (as someone who drinks coffee regularly) Pros: greats prices for delicious donuts. I for the cinnamon roll and loved it! Their kolache was alright but again can't beat the price. Service was kind and it did have some shade while you ordered. Overall I'll be back again for more treats.
Round Rock Donuts is such a nostalgic spot for me because I grew up eating these donuts! They have a unique, slightly chewy texture that reminds me of a honey bun, which is exactly why I love them. My absolute favorite is the powdered sugar tea cake. It's simple, not overly sweet, and so good! If you're in the Round Rock area, this is definitely a classic worth trying.
They say that they're the best donuts in the world, and I've gotta agree. At least the best I've ever had. Went through the drive-thru and they had it running tight and quick. Glad I don't live in the area, or I'd be diabetic.
My wife and I were in the Round Rock area for a wedding. We decided before we headed home, we HAD to stop by the legendary Round Rock Donuts to get munchies for the road. For years, I'd heard so much good about them; it was about time to sample their goods. Since it was a weekday and a bit later in the morning hours, the line wasn't too bad. Watching the vehicles flying through the drive-thru, I could see that these folks have it down to a science. Order after order is being handed to their customers with military precision. We got a cinnamon roll and a fritter for the road, plus 6 donuts to take back home with us. The fritter was OK, I've had better. My wife's cinnamon roll was too huge to manage. It was definitely Texas-sized. The six donuts we took home were two blueberry cake donuts, two regular raised donuts, and two filled. The filled donuts were our favorites, along with the cake and the traditional raised. We can now say we've been to the legendary Round Rock Donuts.
Stopped by Round Rock Donuts while visiting the area. I've seen so many references to the orange colored glazed donuts and had to stop to finally try these. When you arrive there is plenty of parking in front of the donut shop. When you walk up you'll order at the window and they'll callout your order by your name when it's ready. The donuts took a few minutes to come out but to my surprise the donuts were nice and hot. These atmosphere is very easy going and laid back. These donuts were soft, not overly sweet, and I'm a big fan of when food is served hot. If you are in the round rock area you definitely need to stop here for donuts.
Oh, Round Rock you had me at donuts. Round Rock Donuts has been around since 1926 and it's easy to understand why they remain a staple in the area. They're known for specific specialties such as the "Texas" donut which is as big as my butt. Ok well, maybe not but close. It's a 14" donut! The cinnamon rolls are just as ginormous. They have regular-sized donuts, donut holes, kolaches, and mini-donuts. Another specialty is their glazed yellow donut (color from fresh eggs). Yeast-risen donuts. The double chocolate (cake style) mini-donut is my favorite. The bakery offers walk-up window service as well as drive-thru. They get really busy and are open 4:30 am-6:30 pm. Lines start to form as soon as kids get out of school for the day. RR Donuts are absolutely worth the hype!
It's a local favorite for a reason :) the donut holes are amazing- they're soft, fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. We originally got half a dozen and went back and bought 2 dozen more! We got the large kolaches and they have a lil kick to'em but very tasty lil treats. The service is quick, they have 2 lines and they also have a drive thru as well. If you don't know what to order, they have a display of what the food looks like.
This place has so memories visiting with my Grandsons. Yesterday, we buried our 20 yr old. Every year his 3 yr younger brother has his Mom buy the huge donut for his Birthday Cake. Today, I stopped by to buy my younger Grandson a dozen of donuts. He was happy. They had Company who came from S. Carolina and they loved them too. They were hot and fresh. This was a sad trip to Round Rock Donut. I love taken their pictures exhaling those donuts. Service is always fast and correct. The place is take out. Try their pies.. Delicious.. Quaint place.
disclaimer, i'm not a sweets person ‼i think this spot is overhyped? their donuts are yellow and comes out warm but taste-wise, it tastes just like a donut? Wasn't anything special to me!
This place is legendary for a reason. I always recommend avoiding the drive-thru in favor of actually standing in line and going up to their walk up window because it'll save you minutes on the hour. A few things to knock out briefly: Their kolaches are pretty good, and I'm always getting at least one when I pull up. Their black coffee stands on its own. It's some peak donut shop coffee. Now the rest: Their donuts are so gas. They are bright orange, yeasty, and incredible. It's hard to explain what the difference really is between them and everywhere else, but if you try one of their glazed donuts fresh out the box, it's undeniable. Their cake ones are also fantastic. It's interesting to never see those get the praise that their glaze gets. As a whole, their donuts are still on par with most places' prices. They're not overcharging because they're popular. You gotta love it. I guess the only downside is there is no where nearby to sit and destroy them. You want me to drive home after getting my donuts. I want to sit and stare at the clouds while I make the donuts go Houdini. It's amazing being so close to them that I always go when my girlfriend is in town. At work, my team was gifted one of their Texas-Sized Donuts and that guy was incredible. I was cutting off bits all day. A volunteer at work always brings some Round Rock Donuts on the last Thursday of every month, and I always pig out. It's gotten to a point that he reminds me about him bringing them. I'm so helpless. Minus the donut that is big, their donuts aren't gimmicky, they aren't "gourmet" with unique toppings. They are just beautifully orange and perfectly airy like a dinner roll. Round Rock is one of my two favorite donut spots in Texas. The other being Duck Donuts. I stop by RR Donuts anytime I'm going down I35.
By far some of the best donuts I've ever had! Anytime I'm even near Round Rock I got out of my wash to get these donuts. My favorite is the classic glaze hot and fresh! The maple is really good too. It reminds me of Canada with all the delicious maple things there. My 1 year old devoured too many donut holes to count and embarrassed to admit that she had so many. We will definitely be back and glad my daughters love them as much as me!

Ambiance: It is super quick to order your food at the window. The wait to get your food is a little longer but not too bad. I like how all the food is on display. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Glazed donut: We got the huge donut and it was surprisingly really it. It is super dense so it definitely can feed a lot of people. I was surprised how light and airy the donut still was. Cheese sausage kolache: The kolaches here are really good! The bread is really good and buttery. The sausage inside tastes very good quality and it has a lot of cheese inside. read more

I had heard about this place for months so, my daughter and I decided to drive over from Manor and try it out. It did not disappoint! There was quite a line. (It was Saturday morning)... however, it was efficient and ran smoothly getting our order out in a timely manner. The doughnut itself was really good. It's soooo big! Think one dozen doughnuts in single sitting. We didn't get to try the frozen coffee because the machine was down. So, we'll be back! read more
Have heard about Round Rock Donuts from many and finally decided to give them a try! Came here on Saturday and Sunday morning, during a Texas Cold front, and there was definitely a good line of donut-seeking customers! They have a nice display of donuts at the center of their window, with two ordering lines. I ordered the Glazed, Red Velvet, and Blueberry Donuts. The Red Velvet was good, the Blueberry was average, and the Glazed Donut was absolutely amazing! The Glazed Donut was warm, fluffy, and proportionately bigger than a typical donut. Highly recommend and personally would say that is their signature item. Came here the following morning during the Austin-International Half Marathon to get some donuts at 630 in the morning and loved the aesthetics of lights. Definitely made the mood better during the 28 degree weather! Highly recommend! read more

All these years I've been coming here enjoying all these kolaches, donut holes, and donuts and I just realized I had not written a review. The audacity Story time, Today I went to the original Round Rock location, downtown Round Rock, to buy my son's birthday donuts, It's tradition. Every year on his birthday he gets a dozen half glazed and half chocolate frosted donuts. Then I get a kolache and a dozen donut holes for myself. Well when I pulled up today the line was wrapped around all the way to Mays street. So I just followed the line of cars and got in line. You'd think that a line that long would take a long time but.... Round Rock donuts has this process down to a T. It took less than 10 minutes to get through that line and get my order. And those donuts came out hot and fresh. So did my kolache. Anywho, Don't let the lines scare you away, Just jump in and know they're going to move quickly. Also, If you're planning an office event or any type of event and you want donuts and coffee or kolaches donuts and coffee, Round Rock donuts offers a great menu for large orders and also they have a cake menu for custom cake orders. If you don't want to stay in line in your car you can also park wherever you can find a spot and go to the walk-up ordering window, It's shaded and there's plenty of space to hang out while your order is being made and brought out to you. I probably won't come here again. The donuts, in my opinion were sub-par. The dough they use is not fluffy at all I held my donut and it completely deflated between my fingers. I don't know how to explain it but the texture was to "elastic" for me. I like my donuts to be more dense. The glaze was super messy. The line was wrapped around the building so this place obviously is well liked by many in this area it's just not for me. I personally would not wait in a long line for these read more
Super yummy! It's the OG for a reason. By far my favorite was the little donut holes. I liked the powdered donut too but it was more of a cake donut. I'm sure the regular glazed donuts was probably amazing based off the little donut holes. Convenient parking and friendly service. Will be back! read more

WOWZER! What tasty donuts! My first time here and I'm thrilled! Delicious donuts, friendly staff and fast service. I myself, did not like the kolachi, I asked what was inside of it and was told " two meats", it was a mini hot dog. Yuck. I Highly Recommend the donuts. A+ read more

Ive been meaning to try this place forever. If the triple A baseball team chooses your product as their alter ego, the donuts cant be THAT bad, right? Turns out, theyre pretty dang good. Yours truly went with the tried and true standard glazed donut. Sure, they had sprinkled, iced, cinnamon roles and kolaches but, as a newbie, I needed to walk before I could run. It was great; warm, super soft, sweet but not coyingly so. High marks. The staff was friendly and inviting. You walk up, place your order at the window and then a guy runs it out to you. Worth the drive!! You have found the place to get your donut fix and feed your soul... I mean belly! lol They make everything fresh (on site) and serve them warm!! This place is well known for having incredible donuts! They even have a Texas sized donut that is sure to impress!! My fav are the Bismarks... they make them to perfection and are filled with delicious and fresh cream!! The glazed donuts are better than any other place you'll find! Very unique-tasting and -looking donuts! The dough has a rich yellow color (something to do with how many egg yolks they use). I'd recommend eating two max in one sitting -- they're seriously good but highly addicting and super sweet. Pro Tip: I've gone twice -- early Saturday morning and again on Saturday afternoon. Surprisingly, it was much less busy later in the day. No need to wake up early for this one! Also if it's hot there is no shaded place to sit near the store. I enjoyed everything about this donut shop! The donuts are quite a feat and definitely not something you can find anywhere! We ordered their famous glazed donuts, chocolate, and their pumpkin spice cream cheese donuts. The texture about them made it hit the sweet spot! Although it was busy, they moved rather quickly! I want to shout out Amanda in the drive thru. She was friendly & put us first while moving quickly! Definitely worth stopping by if you're passing through! read more

Their signature yellow glaze? Iconic. It's sweet, light, and almost sunny--nothing like your standard donut shop frosting!! I asked Cashier2222 to please cut the Roll into four pieces, & refresh their weak #Pumpkin #Latte with stronger, plain coffee... which she did & all with a smile... which is why #R2Donuts gets FIVE Stars! I walked back to #RoundRockPublicLibrary & gave 3/4 of the Roll to #RRPL staff... it was that BIG!, before sitting down to savor the last piece. However, the #taste & #texture of my #CinnamonRoll #breakfast treat was #disappointing . With all the great looking donuts in the window, I was expecting a moist & #flavorfull, sugared Cinnamon Roll, but, no... it was dry, due to the lack of #CinnamonSugar & butter-based dough?!? I ate two small bites before dumping the remaining dough. I guess my taste buds have become accustomed to &/or spoiled by that 'sweet kitchen' in #Georgetown &/or that #homemade, 'flakey bakery' in #Taylor #Texas. Never had anything like it and probably never will. Round Rock Donuts has cracked some kind of code we were never fully sure was supposed to be written. Donuts that are almost a breadlike consistency doesn't seem like a good idea but damn is it a fantastic one. Now back to reality, this place is fantastic. They have a good parking lot and drive in option which is what we opted for. We grabbed a regular and jalapeño kolaches, glazed and chocolate glazed donuts, a cinnamon roll, and a white chocolate raspberry latte. Here's our take: Regular kolache - pretty good kolache, definitely better than most places Jalapeño kolache - very good, took the regular and elevated it a few notches Regular glazed - good, a great way to get a taste for their donuts consistency for the first time Chocolate glazed - an out of body experience, easily the best chocolate glazed we've ever had Cinnamon roll - not good, maybe an off day but lacked that cinnamon flavor but glaze was good White chocolate raspberry latte - very good, sweet but not too much to overpower the coffee flavor If you are in the Austin area, or generally south of DFW just do yourself the favor and come down here, you won't regret it and you will probably write us a thank you letter.
