I was so impressed by the catering experience I recently had with Rosen's Bagels to honor my mother's passing. I would give it 10 stars if I could (and I'm a bit of a hardass). First, the food was EXCEPTIONAL. I've been searching for 20 years to find this level of bagel in Austin and finally found it! Amazing selection, quality, fresh, perfect. Second, the service and related compassion was outstanding. This was a large last minute order and it went off without a hitch. They also made it easy for me to pickup -- as there was actually a LONG line to order. I came in side door and they were expecting me with open arms and fresh bagels. I was also impressed with their interest and effort in helping me get everything in my car. And FINALLY, they even said goodbye with the Jewish expression "may your mother's memory by a blessing." I was blown away by this consideration. They clearly understood the difficult circumstances, and the relevant phrases that can be quite healing, etc. This felt like more than just a "food order and pickup." I will make sure other people know this when under similar circumstances. And then more generally, if you need a good bagel, cream cheese, lox, whatever -- Rosen's has now made this an easy decision. read more

I came early in the morning for a coffee and a bagel thinking it was going to be skimpy and underwhelming and I was totally wrong. I got a rosemary bagel w/ butter and veggie schmear the whole thing was super satisfying and filled with cream cheese! I saved half for the next day since it was so filling. Pretty decent quality bagels with great flavor options. I've had the Rosemary, Everything, & Egg (plain). I've had the following schmears: poblano, basil lemon, and roasted lime. Unique schmear flavors is what sets them apart (locally) in my book. Next time I visit I am going to try one of their bagel sandwiches. The "Not a Taco" sandwich seems interesting. Stopped by here early before work and got an egg bagel with the salmon lox and the classic schmear. The bagel had a very interesting texture probably due to being an egg-based batter but I really enjoyed it. Also the salmon was super fatty which is how I like it and paired really well with the classic schmear. read more

Counter staff was friendly and gave me recommendations since it was my first time in. I ordered the lox sandwich on their everything bagel, which is a pretty standard order imo. I would've chosen to get it on pumpernickel instead, if they offered it on the menu. The amount of schmear was good, but I wish the toppings had been better dispersed. The exterior bites had all the fixings: onions, capers, cream cheese, salmon. The interior bites were less balanced: just cream cheese and salmon. So the more I ate, the less I liked it. The bagel was decent, but I think the everything seasoning was missing something. I'm used to them tasting more flavorful, less bland. I also ordered an everything egg bagel with some basil lemon schmear to go. I didn't know what to expect from the bagel because I was told it had egg yolks. So I imagined bits of egg yolk baked into the bagel. I was wrong lol it was just really yellow. And the everything seasoning on this bagel also fell flat in flavor to me. The schmear caught my eye on the menu and the cashier made it seem like it was reeeaaaally good. I thought it was ok? Not anything to write home about. I was really happy with the amount of schmear they gave, though. (I use bagels as a vehicle for cream cheese.) Ordered an iced spiced brown sugar latte to go, and I think this might've been my favorite part of my order? I don't think this place is bad, but it's not at the top of my list for bagel spots. read more

Tucked into a small strip of stores in the Austin Commons is Rosen's Bagel Co, a small bagel shop with a fun offering of bagels and spreads as well as coffee. The store itself is clean, sleek, and modern fitting right in with The Domain itself. The workers were friendly and service was quick. One thing I will note is that they don't have their coffee menu displayed on a board but rather at the register which is not a big deal but might be easy to miss when ordering (if you didn't see the large espresso machine next to it). For bagels we got an egg everything with scallion cream cheese and a plain bagel with plain cream cheese and also one hot latte. Everything came out to $16 which is decent pricing compared to what I thought it would be heading in. The bagels were average, better than fast food places but missing the mark compared to more traditional bagel spots. The coffee was solid but not remarkable either. I had high hopes for Rosen's but ultimately it really is an average bagel shop, which isn't a bad thing just not one I would drive out of my way to go to again. read more

What in the name of TEXAS is this? I've been in Los Angeles for far too long so seeing gigantic bagel sandwiches like this made me wonder...what do Jewish people think about this outrageous size? Don't Texas our bagels? Are we going overboard with this? I'm gonna throw a superlative down and say this was one of the best bagel sandwiches ever...at least for me. HUGE bagel that was crispy chewy on the outside and so soft inside. Plump heavy handed stacks of sausage meat and big sized eggs, huge crispy hash-brown patty, lots of cheese and subtle spread, big onion flavor in the bagel and big on TASTE. The London Fog was full of earl grey flavor and lightly sweet...served piping hot. I think I'm in love. The line moved way faster than I thought it would. Don't be discouraged if you're in it. I have this down as the second best bagel in all of austin (yes much better than nervous charlie's with none of the waiting) and second only to Bruegger's. Latkes were good too! I wish they hadn't ran out of so many options by the time we got there around 12 but understandable! Today I went in around 11am and walked right up to the counter things were rolling steady and the customer service was A1 I asked what (I wish I got their name) fav thing was and they said the Rose and Shine. Let's do it keep it classic. I got a garlic parm bagel w/sausage and American cheese. The Sunrise sauce went perfectly with the garlicky taste from the bagel but next time I'll try it with the jalapeño cheddar bagel to add a nice kick. And look here.. GET THE SAUCE it's not spicy at all so don't be a punk. Get it as is! Last I got the guava lemonade. It was really good but think of it like a concentrate. Get a cup of water and 1/2:1/2 it. I recently had a hankering for bagels. Having never been to a bagel shop in Austin, I selected two bagel establishments to obtain mixed bakers dozens from in order to compare. The two establishments were Nervous Charlie's on Lamar, and Rosen's on Burnet. For Rosen's, I ordered a mixed baker's dozen (13 bagels) online, as well as an 8 oz lime roasted poblano scallion schmear (cream cheese), for pick up at their Burnet location. Their cafe has a bright, airy, and welcoming feel. I went to the register and stated I was picking up an order. They told me that they were unfortunately out Poppyseed; I opted to replace that one with another Rosemary. The order came out in a nondescript Rosen's Co. paper bag, filled with bagels, and a separate bag for the schmear. Arriving at home, I noticed the bagels were quite fragrant. 1. Bagels such as Everything, Egg Everything, and Sesame are coated quite densely on both sides. 2. The bagels are enjoyable and flavorful on their own. For example, Rosemary is present in both taste and smell in the Rosemary bagel. 3. Each bagel has a great chew and bite. The texture is consistent with their fresh bagels, as well as when freezing and reheating their bagels. 4. Their jalapeños retain their spice in their Jalapeño Cheddar bagel. 5. For some of their bagels, oil will eventually appear on the surface. 6. Their schmears are also fragrant, and complement bagels (of any sort) very nicely. I was quite satisfied with the bagels from Rosen because they taste great and retain their flavor whether fresh or frozen and reheated, they make yummy cream cheese, and I can make my own bagel sandwiches with their bagels. An everything bagel with avocado & bacon is one of my favorite breakfast items! I picked one up from Rosen's on the way to a yoga class and it did not disappoint. I believe the one I got came with egg but I am not an egg fan so I left that out and it was still so good! Very salty and decadent. The texture of the bagel itself felt a little stale and the bagel and cream cheese taste was quite mild. Very light everything and lox flavor.
