This store, hands down, has the best cake donuts in Austin! They are SO soft and not at all greasy! The icing isn't heavy handed and doesn't flake off when you bite into the donut. It must be a proprietary recipe because they have zero competition! Please come here and try the cake donuts!

Ordered: Glazed Old Fashioned Donut (~$1.25) Blueberry Glaze Donut (~$1.25) Aya's take: Family-owned non-chain donut shops seem to be a dying breed so it's awesome to still see places like Donut 7. This is a no frills spot with everything from donuts to tacos to kolaches. Both the Glazed Old Fashioned Donut and Blueberry Glaze Donut tasted fresh, not overly sweet, and were great delicious treats to go with our coffees. If you're in the area and want some solid donuts, check out this Austin-born business!

Place is incredible. How America should be. Great fresh tasting donuts and coffee. Plus love the cream filled options. Prices are awesome. Service at all the locations I've been to are super friendly. This is the type of place you actually WANT to tip more than 25%. God Bless Donut 7.

A great little spot that offers anything you could want for a quick, easy, fun breakfast! From tacos to kolaches to donuts and sweets, drop in and order whatever you're in the mood for. Service was quick, easy, and friendly, and we walked in around 9am on a busy Saturday morning and were in and out in less than 10 mins. The croissant kolaches are so yummy! Unique and the perfect marriage of 2 of my favorite things. Flaky, soft, buttery croissant with savory sausage and cheese. The donuts were good. Your standard donut shop stop. The cinnamon roll donut was my favorite, as were the cake donuts!

The staff were friendly and welcoming. No frills place quick bite or grab and go. Self service seatings. Good amount of donut varieties. Their donuts are cake like so if you like that, you will like them. I like them and liked that they're not too sweet. They are also not too big so can easily eat 2 or try 2 different flavors if you can't decide. We got a few kolache as well and they are delicious (balance of sweet and salty).

Best place for a quick pick me up. Great selection of breakfast goods but also lunch. We got three large jalapeño kolaches, dozen donut holes, two breakfast tacos, Bavarian creamed donut, and a coffee all for $21. GREAT pricing! Food was also delicious. Made fresh on the grill and microwaved as well. Coffee is good too. The service is fast and super friendly. The ambiance is fun, quick in and out for everyone.

May be one of the best Mexican steak tacos I've had. Flavors sing on your tongue. We came here for breakfast and ordered the chicken, beans, and cheese taco, a Mexican steak taco, glazed donut and maple donut. Donuts were decent, but those tacos were amazing.

This place satisfied a Sunday morning craving for donuts AND breakfast tacos! The donut selection was great compared to a popular local spot that was out of everything except creme filled oddities. The chocolate glazed, chocolate frosted, and plain old fashioned all hit the spot. The tacos were simple and delicious with great salsa. The location is convenient and in a shopping center with other popular businesses. It's a cute place to sit in or you can get takeout. It also has the friendliest, nicest staff. Highly recommend!

Had chorizo and egg taco and later a raspberry filled donut. All were delicious. I waited a while before eating the tacos and they were still hot due to how they wrapped them. First time trying them out and I'll be back

For such a popular place, I thought there'd be a line out the door but luckily no line on a sunny Sunday morning, but there weren't a ton of donuts left to choose from. I got the Apple fritter, blueberry, chocolate and chocolate sprinkles as well as two sausage, egg, cheese croissant. I would have gotten the one where they can fill it but they didn't have any normal fillings I like like custard or jam. Maybe I'll try it next time. All were delicious, fresh, thick and fluffy. The blueberry donut was my fav. I do wish the donuts were bigger but then again, they are a good size for not over eating. The croissants were so good too! Service was friendly and fast. They had no issues with me carrying my dog inside to order. I ate outside, I just wish there was more seating outside in case it's busy. I highly recommend and will be back!

Skippy confused why he's been kicked out.

Fast service and reasonable prices. Breakfast tacos had good flavor but were tiny. Kolache is better for the $$ you pay.

Perfect spot for late-night tacos!…read more The best part is that they have great vegetarian options, including both paneer and tofu tacos, and both are absolutely delicious. It's not always easy to find flavorful vegetarian tacos, so this place was a pleasant surprise. I loved it so much that I ended up visiting twice during my two-day trip to Austin. If you're in the city, this place is definitely worth checking out!

Sixth Street's neon and noise are basically next door, the Capitol sits up the hill, and the whole area is packed with people, bars, and that classic Austin mix of polished downtown hustle and late-night chaos. Velvet Taco is pure counter-service: you walk right up, order at the register, and then grab a seat. There's plenty of seating, so even with a couple of kids in tow it was no problem finding a spot. The place leans hard into what can only be called white-people tacos--soft, sad flour tortillas that taste like they came straight out of a grocery-store package, loaded with every wild creation the kitchen can invent. Global mashups, brunch hybrids, burger impostors, the works. No one is pretending these are the real deal. I went for the chicken-and-waffles taco, which was actually built on a thin, real waffle instead of a tortilla. Surprisingly good--crispy, a little sweet, chicken holding its own. The burger taco tasted exactly like a cheeseburger that had wandered into a tortilla and decided to stay. We also tried the shrimp taco (fine), one daughter got the kids' chicken taco (perfectly kid-level), and the other ordered the chicken tikka (spicy, saucy, and very much in the "why is this on a tortilla?" category). Everything was okay. Comparable to Torchy's in that same creative-American-taco lane. If you're looking for a true Mexican taco, stay far away. But if you just want to play around with some decent flavors on a cheap flour store-bought tortilla while sitting in the middle of downtown Austin, this is your spot. Not my favorite. Glad I tried it. Won't be back.

I had only stopped by this Food Truck (area) to try Desnudo Coffee, and spotted this business. I had heard some good things about Veracruz, but I was planning lunch elsewhere. Well, that other spot was CLOSED ON WEDNESDAYS! Seeing my situation, I saw it as opportunity to try the options at Veracruz --- including the famous from Food Network, migas taco. I ordered 4 tacos: the migas, migas poblano, shrimp macha (!!), and the Dona Reyna tacos. All of these specific tacos were priced between $6 and $6.75 per taco, not bad in Austin, and not bad considering the quality of said tacos. As you can see from my order, I opted on the more "novel" choices and they did not disappoint; that said, I do HIGHLY recommend the two variations of the migas taco and the shrimp macha taco. Oh, the shrimp macha was so FIRE, the flavors were bold and smoky with a kiss of heat. The migas tacos were FULLY LOADED, and the scramble with the tortilla chips were flavorul. TIP: They will ask corn or flour --- do flour. Everything is handmade, but those corn tortillas fall apart with all the sauce. Flour = durable and flavorful. I had plans, but the Universe had other plans for me that were superior. Try Veracruz All Natural --- and if your limited on $$$, you can snag 3 EXCEPTIONAL LOADED TACOS for about $20, that you will not find anywhere else!

I walked into this unassuming restaurant and perused the menu, which felt like Mexican tarot cards. Pictures. Titles. Small description. It all looked basic. But simple food made with fresh ingredients and seasoned well has won Michelin stars. Unfortunately, I don't foresee them receiving one. The al pastor taco was tasty. The steak taco had too much fat in it. If I was strictly bashing this review on the food. I'd give it a three. It's not worth the price. Now, the service seemed to be decent until I didn't put a tip on my takeout order. Things seemed to go south. When my name was called, I grabbed the small paper bag and paused. No guacamole. If I hadn't have looked, I could've walked a really long wasteful before noticing. Maybe long enough to not go back. The last behind the counter, said okay I'll get it. It felt like a chore. I said thank you and made the long walk fighting the heat of the dragon's breath once again. The story does not stop there, I thought 3 tacos, a drink, and guacamole couldn't honestly cost $43. The guilt of spending that kind of money on such little food that was also just average, screamed in my conscience. Well, that was because the woman also had not given me my tres leches, which was going to be for my wife. I took the long walk back, stood at the counter for what felt like 10 minutes, and again it felt like a chore to get me what I paid for. No sorry. I would suggest taking a little longer walk to Taqueria de Diez
