Coming to Ptown and Truro for 50 years and finally decided to try Moby Dick's. We got 2 fish sandwiches and a burger, a salad, 2 bowls of clam chowder and 1 lobster bisque and 1 lb steamers for $125 before tip. Okay price but food was just okay and fish portions were small. The person in our group who got the lobster bisque loved it. The steamers were large and tasty. The hamburger ordered medium came out bleeding and we sent it back to be cooked more. Cod sandwich was tasty but small portion of fish. The salmon sandwich was good also but long skinny piece of fish and was missing the pesto sauce so had to ask for that again. The clam chowder had a good flavor but the potatoes were not cooked enough and were hard while the clams were chewy. Fries were bland and soggy. Servers were pleasant and helpful. Came here on the recommendation of a friend so my expectations were high. Unfortunately, reality didn't live up to the fantasy. I chose 6 Wellfleet Oysters ($14) for a starter. I admit that this was my first time having this species of oyster. WIMPY, PUNY, DISAPPOINTING. If this is the best Oyster they have in New England, then I will never have Oysters here again. Things got better with my entree, Fried Whole Belly Clams platter ($32). They say that these are the "taste of New England". The Clams were good dipped in tartar sauce and there was a sizable portion of them. Served with French fries and a decent Coleslaw. My girlfriend ordered the Grilled Shrimps and Scallops platter ($28) and she gave it a thumbs up. Corn on the cob with a baked potato, it was a carb load. My husband and I visited Moby Dicks last weekend. I got the fried oysters and hubby got the fried clams. Both entrees were delivered hot and delicious by friendly staff. This place is definitely going for a beach shack vibe (though it's huge), and they hit it. Both inside and out it looks a bit worse for wear, but I think that's intentional (it's a little hard to tell honestly). The food was good, but I did not think anything great. I had a lobster roll which was just okay. Not bad, but when I pay $20+ for a meal (with no atmosphere) I expect something pretty good, and this was just average. Both dishes were very good. I ordered the lobster roll for my entree and he the fish and chips. Went on Friday night 8/12/22....Food was good.. but I ate outside on the picnic benches... My sister and I were covered with CHIGGER bites allover our legs after wards... They are corn stalks next to the table with high grass... Again, had extremely high expectations going into this meal due to the rave reviews...couldn't be let down any harder. Didn't even finish our meals which is rare. Just had dinner at MD's and again it was amazing. Friends 3 of them had over 5 lbs of sweet delicious lobster. Family had blackened salmon that was done perfectly. But my grilled swordfish was the highlight of my night. Grilled to perfection and tasted even better. We couldn't be more happier with the dinner we all enjoyed. Moby Dick's is but one of a bevy of similar choices as you make your way through Cape Cod en route to Provincetown. With so many places hosting similar seafood offerings why you pick one over another seems akin to a roll of the dice. I picked it for several reasons but here's why I'd pick it again: 1. What a great menu they have here, really. It's primarily seafood but within that category there's a wide variety of preparations and presentations. All lobster all the time sounds good in theory - and reality - but it's nice to have options. A Cape Cod Salad ($9) topped with fresh grilled Tuna (+$8) was delicious. As was an ear of corn ($2). And if I could remember what others at my table ate I'd tell you that was great too. The food is well prepared, well seasoned, fresh, satisfying, and tasty. 2. BYOB with no cover or corkage. Where am I, Hawaii? 'Nuff said. Stock up before your arrival. 3. Who knew that working on Cape Cod and coming from all parts of the Earth to do so was a thing? Employee name tags identify the country from which each worker hails and it's like the U.N. in here. Russia, Ireland, and Germany? Representing. 4. There's a couple of places to sit here and after ordering I opted to sit up some stairs in a large, clean dining room with long picnic tables and light-filled windows. Aside from having to repeatedly ask employees to please stop trying to lower the blinds (nobody was complaining and I was enjoying the light) the space perfectly suited the offering. 5. See #1 and #2 above. There's so much goodness on that menu that settling on one thing was difficult. And then, imagining what I might pair it with, at no extra cost? Be still my heart. Overlook this recommendation and you might not regret it but once you've been you'll be kicking yourself for not stopping sooner. I am so lucky to have no lines at Moby Dick's because many reviews have complained about the lines. We stop here on the way to Provincetown for a late lunch and were surprised there were no lines at all. Well, it is mid-June on a weekday so the summer crowds have not invaded Cape Cod yet. We went straight for the fried sea combo- Fried Seafood Special;it has codfish, scallops, clams, and shrimps. Everything tasted fresh and cooked just right. The potato fries were just a little on the soggy side. The portion is very large and can feed two people. Rated 4/5 We also tried their key lime pie which was very good. Rated 5/5. Service were fine. Tip- The restroom upstairs is labeled: "EITHER" and "OR." I watched a confused teenager just standing there and was not sure what to do. So do get confused. :) read more

Relief washed over me as our tires eased over the seashell drive. Moby's was offering both indoor and outdoor seating, we went with an outside table as we were accompanied by our luscious snouts, Paloma (part fox part perfection) and Twombly (dachshund). As I entered to order I was greeted with warm hospitality and genuine happiness. In addition to a well run operation,the ownership has clearly created an enjoyable working environment and a real sense of team. The environment is meticulously clean with an atmosphere and aesthetic complimentary of the iconic seaside destination for which it inhabits. We ordered clam chowder, a dozen oysters and the fisherman's special platter (fried cod, scallops, shrimp and whole belly clams with fries and coleslaw). ****I've read other reviews mentioning price, I won't other than Moby's is on par and not expensive. If you don't want to spend funds on dining out stay home. Another highlight to the above point is it's BYOB, we brought a sumptuous Rose'. The staff provided wine glasses and made certain we had everything we needed to open the bottle all before asking them. Both of our servers Richie from South Africa and Haley from CT were beyond attentive, polite, and friendly! Richie brought the snouts a nice bowl of water, also without being asked. Please bring CASH to leave this stellar team as you pay at the register and food is run to the tables cafeteria style. I was personally embarrassed to only have $7 in cash on me. When I mentioned it to Richie he did not hesitate in easing any potential anxieties, only to welcome us back again. Before the food arrived my wife and I scoped our the substantial gift shop (these folks truly know retail). We purchased a soft shirt, sweatshirt and Christmas ornament for our collection to mark the occasion. Years ago while on one of my father's friend (Big Joe) construction sites, Little Joe asked at lunch if I had seen the Gladiator (featuring Australian actor Russell Crowe). Opening weekend had just passed and the crew of about (35) was composed of criminals, junkies and hard working immigrants (none of whom had or would see the film anytime soon). I had of course seen the film to Little's excitement to which he exclaimed, "anyone who hasn't seen Gladiator has to be an asshole!" Frankie, a crackhead who had to drink Jack Daniels to avoid a seizure burst out laughing, "nice Joey." By the way Frank would go to the highest peaks on any roof with no harness. The moral of this tale is I share the same sentiment as Little for anyone who doesn't patronize this epic gift shop to properly mark the occasion. Don't get cheap on me now. I came out of the shop to a delicious chowder, and FRESH juicy oysters (both in size and flavor). SPOT ON. The platter followed, now this is where Moby's goes over the top. I have been eating these platters my entire life and have not had better all around. Extremely fresh fish, with a lite fry (both batter and timing! maintaining the natural juiciness of the oceans protein bounty. Non greasy and clean oil. The fries were just right and the house made coleslaw was divine. Additionally the tarter sauce was clearly made in house and served in a not to small and not gigantic container, again perfection. The portion of the platter was a perfect split with some still to spare. I warmed the remaining fish on 400 after a night of cocktails and edibles at the drive in (Jurassic Park + JAWS) and it was just as good. The platter holding up hours later is a credit and further proof of clean oil and a perfect fry. Needless to say we will be back, most likely next week. I cannot wait to try the blackened salmon! I just stopped for a snack at lunch time on my way back home from Provincetown. I had to drive my way back to Philadelphia and want to have one more time some delicious Oysters. Based on Yelp reviews and the building it was already promising a lot. I arrived at 11:20 am which was 10 minutes before the restaurant officially opened. The waitress was completely friendly, reminded me that they don`t offer any alcohol (BYOB) but offered me a water/soda. I could immediately order my oysters which were also served very fast within 10-15 minutes. After opening, the restaurant got crowded within minutes. The oysters were really delicious.
