Been coming to Moby Dicks every summer for years, the food is always excellent. It's a simple seafood joint that really knows how to do everything right. The service is always great with food coming out quickly from the kitchen every time. The staff here are even willing to accommodate special requests, this summer I found myself with a 5lb lobster that wouldn't fit in my lobster pot. Wonderful fresh seafood, and surprisingly good meat options,but you can find a lot of that on the Outer Cape, What makes Moby's different is the fun vibe. Don't get me wrong, the food is outstanding, but it's a fun, really well run place. You will find one of the owners there greeting guest or checking on how they are enjoying their meals. The staff is amazing, every year. Some are locals but every year they recruit foreign students here on J1 visas. It's like the United Nations, l love talking and finding out where they are from and how they are enjoying their time in the states. You will almost always have a line waiting to get in to order at the counter and then get seated, but it's moves really fast. For my family, no trip it's complete to Cape Cod without the trip to Mobys! The place has been under the same ownership for the 20 years that we have been going, and the consistency from year to year is amazing! Fresh seafood is the star, and the supporting actors are the international crew of serving staff. Food couldn't be fresher and the staff couldn't be nicer or more attentive. No reservation policy makes it easy to stop by if you're hungry and I haven't organized a restaurant for the evening yet. BYOB while on line makes it fun to chat with others. We come up to the cape every summer with the kids and usually go to the same places we always go to. A nice couple at Puma Park mentioned Moby Dicks is a common stop for their family so we decided to try it out. I was so impressed with the food!! We got the fried dill pickles, scallop sandwich, cape cod salad, the fish and chips, and they brought out a complimentary crab cake! On our first night staying in Truro, my boyfriend took me out to dinner here. It is one of his favorite restaurants on the cape and after tonight, I can clearly see why. They have a super organized ordering system. You come in and look at their menu, and put in your order with the front desk and pay. Then, you wait to be seated. Once seated, your order is brought to your table fairly quickly. It is a BYOB, which I loved, even though we opted for sodas. For my dinner entree, I loved my broiled cod with lemon and butter. The fish was perfectly cooked and besides the lemon and butter, did not need anything else. My entree came with a corn on the cob and a baked potato. The corn on the cob was so sweet and reminded me of our Jersey corn. For his dinner, my boyfriend had a tasty cup of the clam chowder and the burger and fries. He loved every bite of his burger. Our waitress, Kelly, was a young sprite from South Africa. All I had to do was turn my head and look back at her and the other waiters, and she was at our table within seconds. This was a fun stop along the Maine coast! It has a hole in the wall feel as well as fun decor and sights inside. The food was decent, but not my all time favorite. The woman taking orders was a little abrasive and made the first impression a little hard to recover from. Our waitress and other staff were friendly and also very helpful when we asked for directions. It's a fun spot to try out to get a real feel of Cape Cod. read more

This place has a great small town seashore feel. Fast service, and friendly servers. I like that they all wear name tags that say where they are from! Nice conversation starter. Stumbled into this restaurant on our way home from our day trip to the cape, not knowing what to expect not checking the reviews. Very good experience with the service and quality of the food we ordered. Lobster was great. The lady greeting us was friendly explaining how the system works with ordering at counter and grab our own tables after. Outdoor seating was perfect. All our waiters and waitresses were great and friendly. Think management walked by a few times checking on customers, occasionally chatting up the tables. Was here a year ago and although it was COVID the food and service was very good. Last night (Tuesday ) it was not as good. They don't have waiters. You order at the front desk upon entering and then are directed to the dining area where an employee shows you to your table. It is BYOB. The food is then brought to you as it is ready by another employee who shouts your name out in the dining room to find you. Food and plates are cleared while your eating. They don't check in on you very much to see if you need anything so you have to get up and find someone. My husband and I started with a crab cake and oysters, both of which were very good. We split a fried calamari which was a small order and a bit overcooked (on the rubbery side). Ponzu sauce was good. We asked for the calamari to be served after the other apps but got the calamari first. We were told it would be out 2nd. My husband had a 2 lb. Lobster which he said was delicious and abundant. I had broiled scallops with rice pilaf & broccoli. My scallops where like rubber and very chewy, barely any taste. Rice was dried out and virtually tasteless. The broccoli was not fresh & was hard. Our bill was just over $155.00. This is great for large families where you can bring a team of kids and not have to worry about leaving a mess. I would come back if I just wanted to eat on the fly. Don't expect professional service or a top shelf meal. From the minute we walked in we were "handled" by the staff, not allowed in until my husband parked the car(even though it was raining), were shown a table which was next to 2 open windows facing the (wall?!?) and it was raining and windy. I asked for another table and felt like I was imposing. I felt like they were controlling where we walked and how we moved. Very strange. We had dinner here two nights ago and it was just what we needed; excellent food, great service and reasonably priced. We didn't know it was order at the counter and BYOB but it was really a great concept. So, 2 days later we're headed out of town and stopped for lunch. Had lobster rolls (see photos) and had a great meal and even better experience. Met the owner Todd and his wife Mig. Just what you want to have happen on vacation. He was so personable, checked on us and even brought us nicer plastic cups for our wine. Just a great person and his sister and brother in law own Winslow's that we ate our first night in Wellfleet and I reviewed that and gave it five stars. Todd came back to check if we were doing ok and said there was a mistake n the kitchen and asked if we could help him out by eating a full order of scallops (on the house of course) and they were some of the best we had ever had. The mistake was fabricated and was his way of thanking us for our patronage. When your in the Cape, do yourself a favor and stop here at least once. Been to Moby Dick's many times over the years including the past two years under Covid rules. The wait staff is always friendly and helpful, the owner Todd is always engaging and the food is always top notch. The BYOB model is fantastic since it allows you to bring your preferred beverage and you don't pay a ridiculous price. my family and i went here for the 4th and i'm so glad we did because it really made the evening special. we ordered the specials - fried pickles and mussels in garlic wine broth - as well as the shrimp and scallop platters, fish sandwich, chowder and strawberry shortcake for dessert. everything was DELICIOUS but the mussels and shortcake were the real standouts. but what really sets this place apart from every other seafood restaurant on the cape is how above and beyond the staff go to make sure you're happy and having a great experience. we were given beads and flags while we waited which was super fun. everyone was so genuinely kind, the service was super quick despite the crowds, and all our requests were met instantly. the owners even came out to chat with us. in general, the ambience was also great. we all left smiling and already planning our next visit! read more

So I saw quite a few cars here driving by. Decided to stop and give it a go. You can sit inside and outside. We were inside. I dont know why all these places dont put more fans. It was stifling. Sit outside if its hot and there is room. Everyone there was really nice. We both got 2lb Lobsters. They were cooked perfectly and were delicious. Check out the gift shop. What is cool about coming off-peak is there is no line anywhere. We walked right in, ordered by the counter right away, had our pick of whatever table we wanted and the waitress brought our food to us. We ordered Moby 's Fried Seafood Special which came with a piece of Codfish, some Scallops, Whole-Belly Clams and Shrimp with french fries and cole slaw. I enjoyed the Codfish and scallops the most. The clams were okay. I tried one shrimp and gave the rest to my bf because I'm allergic to it. But the one I had was very good. The fries were limp and greasy. This platter is good for two to three people. Depending on how hungry everyone is. It's a good way to sample everything if you can't make up your mind. Next time I am sure to get just the scallops which were my fave. The highlight of the meal was not the seafood though. Amazingly it was the KEY LIME PIE!!!! I wish there was a way for us to bring an entire pie home but we had more places to go and can't keep a Key Lime Pie in the car. The buttery graham cracker crust was yummy. The key lime filling was not dense and thick..it was creamy and fluffy. It had the perfect mix of tart and sweet. I love Key Lime Pie. I want a piece of Moby's KLP right now. read more

Passing through the area and had to stop for seafood obviously. This place is conveniently located just off hwy 6. It was delicious and fresh. The scallops were huge and delicious. The fish and chips were wonderful as well. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. They didn't rush us. The restrooms/restaurant were very clean and the staff attentive. There is outdoor seating, and they are pet friendly. There is lots of parking. We were here around 4ish (finished around 5:15pm) but when we passed by again at dinner time (about 2 hours later), the place was packed. I've learned when on vacation to eat at off times to avoid the crowds. Can't say enough good things about Moby Dick. I live on the Texas gulf coast and wish the seafood tasted this fresh at home. read more

Restaurant Week is back! $15 for a two course lunch or '$20 for a two course dinner - great deal! Always such a great place to go for a good lunch or dinner! It's casual and BYOB (table service available) but the fish is so fresh,and the rush is on to get your order to your table asap from the moment you place the order at the register. Get in line, peruse the menu board, order and decide where to sit, that's all you have to do- they find you as soon as the food comes out - it always reminds me of how Legal Seafood used to be when they first opened up 100 years ago. Somehow they magically get to you without error. Self service for condiments & water but it's kind of fun when you're waiting for crispy fried clams or fish or a perfect caesar salad with just the right proportion of dressing, parmesan and topping of your choice. Wait staff is always friendly, polite and accommodating even with hordes of customers asking questions, getting confused by the ordering system, staring at the menu and dawdling (IMHO!) before moving forward - they handle everyone with grace. We like this place a lot and have never had a less than delicious experience in many, many trips to Moby's. My boyfriend and I have looked forward to eating fresh seafood in Cape Cod, and we decided on having dinner at Moby Dick's Restaurant in Wellfleet for our first meal in the Cape. Luck was on our side that day, as we were fortunate enough to take part in Wellfleet's restaurant week and we got the chance to eat a three course meal at Moby Dick's for an affordable $25! The choices included a cup of clam chowder (or chowdah, as they call it in the Northeast) or lobster bisque, fish & chips, strawberry shortcake, and key lime pie. We opted for their famous jumbo crab cakes, the grilled Atlantic salmon, and coffee ice cream for dessert (warning: Andrew and I eat a lot of ice cream on this trip). We also added the lobster roll to our order, 'cause who goes to Cape Cod and not order that any possible chance they get? It was $20 just by itself, and soon I will learn that $20 is the average price for these killer sandwiches. Worth it? Hell yes. Soon, our crab cake was on the table and it was perfectly seared and golden brown, laid on a neat pile of arugula. They weren't kidding when they said they were jumbo sized. They were bigger than the size of my palm (I think I have huge hands). I thought that they were a little flaky and I wasn't too sure what to expect. I've never had an actual crab cake before, so whatever it was that I envisioned it to taste like in my mind did not match the taste of what I actually ate. But it wasn't terrible and I'm happy we tried it. The lobster roll and salmon came next and I was deeply impressed with our choices. For starters, I thought my picture of the lobster roll was amazing. I sent it to all our family and friends and they adored the picture and proclaimed they hated us because we had the chance to eat it. It made me feel intensely satisfied (sorry not sorry? Just a little bit). They combined the lobster's tail and claw meat and mixed it in with mayonnaise and it tasted like heaven in my mouth. The portion was small and we split everything we eat so the portion size dwindled even more but it was so worth it. The salmon was just as good and at least that portion was more than the latter. Being perfectly cooked also gave it extra points. Finally, it was dessert time, and our coffee ice cream was devoured in a matter of minutes. Andrew called it the best ice cream we got all trip because the coffee was really strong, and while I thought it was really good as well, I'm still in favor of a local ice cream shop we visit later in Orleans. All in all, Moby Dick's food was well worth the visit. Also, the restaurant is BYOB, so take advantage of that option if you want. read more

I am so glad we caught this place on a day that it wasn't busy. We came right when it opened during fourth of July weekend and there was no line. The staff is super courteous, helpful, and accommodating. The food was perfect. We enjoyed our lobster roll, calamari, and especially the grilled day boat scallops. OH MAN. Were we full. The upper dining hall also has a great view of some marshes and a perfect cross breeze due to the windows. It was just lovely. Definitely a stop we'll do again when we had out to the cape. read more

This was a fantastic stop on the way to P-town. It's a casual atmosphere - order and pay at a counter, and then they bring the food to you. We had steamers, raw oysters, fish tacos, fried oysters, and grilled scallops. Steamers and raw oysters were a stand-out. Staff was Australian I believe, friendly. Would definitely stop in again. Glorious 2lb steamed lobster with corn and steamers, make for an awesomely delicious meal. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the claws and the amount of meat that came out. The tail meat was equally as moist, tender with a little bit of chew that makes tails so enjoyable. I also tried the grilled scallops and shrimp. Ten portions were a nice size and everything was fresh. While the shrimp was good, the scallops stood out as great. Nicely grilled with a fresh from the sea taste. read more

I make a point to stop by on my drive to Provincetown and on the way home. Excellent fresh Lobster Rolls, Fish & Chips, Crab Cakes and all the rest. Very friendly staff, great gift shop. It's the best fish shack I've ever been to over the years on the Cape. Remember to bring your cooler, BYOBeer, or wine. They sell no alcohol but will give you a huge beer tin full of ice. Delicious lunch of fried clams and a fried fish sAndwich. The clams were lightly fried and fresh. The fish was flaky and delicious. The portions were large. The owner woman was coming around to check on everyone and was very hospitable which was nice. I lost my mask and she gave me two masks. Cute gift shop attached. read more
