Well, the little guy pushed me and out flew my phone 4 months after I have the screen replaced. Even with case protector and only falling on hardwood floor, screen was funky: split screen with vertical and horizontal lines, and touch screen iffy. So I'm prepared to shell out $90 to have it fixed here again. Half way to the store I realize that there's a power outage In Berkeley and wonder if the store will even be open or can fix my phone, but push on. Get there at 10:15 and the store is closed. A few minutes later, an employee opens up and I realize that he probably was delayed due to power outage. I later found out he hustled from Ashby BART since downtown was shutdown. Anyway, I tell him to take his time and settle in. A few minutes later I receive help and an hour later my phone is fixed. I was told when I entered I would need to get cash for the repair since electricity is out. At the end I said if I could look at my phone to access my bank account number I would be able to get cash at Wells Fargo across the street (the power outage shut ATMs down but if you have an account number you could withdraw). The next thing I know my service was free since I had previous has the screen replaced and they offer a life time warranty. It was totally unexpected and totally made my day!!! read more

Dropped off my my shattered iPhone 6 at 10:30 on a rainy Monday and had it fixed and in hand 30 minutes later. I used the yelp check-in deal and the 10 for 20 voucher. Total came to $100 plus tax. Without the deal it would have cost the local standard of $125. Service was friendly, clear, and helpful. They only had black covers in stock when I came in. Technician told me I could come back and switch out for a white one free of charge when they got back in stock. They also gave me a free screen protector. If ever in need again I will definitely return. Bonus for BART riders because it's directly in front of Downtown Berkeley BART. Street parking for cars. read more

The short story: understaffed and flakey, but managed to do descent work. Took three trips to repair a broken screen. In the end my cracked iPhone 4 screen was replaced, works great, and looks good, but it was a frustrating trip! After being assured that service was on a first come first serve basis, I took the train to Berkeley from Oakland on a Saturday morning to arrive at the 10am opening time--they had a sign in the window saying they wouldn't open until 2pm. I called both phone numbers on the window to see if maybe they mentioned the closure on their phone system. Nope. I got a return call two days later. But the price with the Yelp coupon was so good that I had to try again. I cut out of work at lunch on a Wednesday and dropped my phone off for an agreed pickup time of 5pm (4+ hours to repair). They promised to call when it was ready. 5:30 rolled around and no word. I called and got a bunch of excuses and was told they wanted to keep it until the next day. After some stink,they agreed to have it ready by 7:30pm. When I got there at 7:30 they hadn't even started it! I was there until about 9:45pm. read more

NO SAME DAY ANDROID SCREEN REPAIRS... Needless to say I am very disappointed that after realizing my GS3 LCD was bad, I checked yelp, found these guys, went on their website & saw that they offered "same day screen repairs" so I submitted a work order then headed over to the store. After circling the block for 15 minutes I finally located a parking spot & paid for 2 hours, I then went to the store & this is where they lost 3 stars... Not only do they not offer same day screen repair for the GS3 but they said I would have to wait until the next week for them to order it. I was told they only keep screens for iphones in stock. Adding additional frustration, was the fact that they had NO throw away/no contract phones for me to purchase to get me through the week while I waited for the screen to come in (despite their website saying they have a large selection of new or pre-owned phones & accessories). So here's the deal, I went there in a panic because my phone was unusable & holds my work schedules and contacts & because their website was misleading, I spent my time driving there, dealing with & paying for parking only to find out they couldn't help me... I was annoyed & worried as you can imagine & the one guy caught an attitude with me when I asked him if there was anywhere else I could go. Finally, the manager came down from the office upstairs and offered to help (he's the reason I gave two stars) but even what he told me was bunk... I asked this guy WHY they didn't have screens in stock for the second most popular phone & his response was that each of the variants have different screens & it's too expensive for him to keep one screen for each of the phones in stock. OK, if true, maybe that seems reasonable I though but... When I went to the place he referred me to another place ((in oakland) which you can find on here a hint is it's named after fruit... but for some reason if I say it, YELP yanks my review (seriously LAME) I was told that what I was told was not exactly accurate and in fact the Sprint and Verizon variants use the same screen and the AT&T screen is the same as the T-mobile variants. So aif in fact that's true, this means Mobile Kangaroo could at least keep one of each screen in stock w/o taking on a financial hit especially considering how "popular" they are and their claims to offer same day screen repairs. All in all, they need to either keep more stock or make sure it's clear on their website, that they only have love for iPhones. I would have bought a throw away phone IF they had actually had one in stock so yea... that's the disappointing part. As far as the two stars, they go to the manager for actually trying to help me and giving me the name and contact for the other store where I did get the screen replaced the same day and he was nice despite my being frustrated with the situation and the rudeness of the other guy. Anyway, until this place gets their act together, you can get same day GS3 screen replacements by looking up the place named after fruit on 14th street in Oakland. read more

Took me earlier than my appt and my service was completed as promised in practically under an hour. Friendly, courteous and excellent service. Just read this. I dropped my iPhone 4s. It stopped working, period. I brought it to the Genius Bar at Apple on 4th Street in Emeryville. They opened it, said it was screwed, and offered me a new 4s for $200. I brought my phone to Mobile Kangaroo, the guy popped it open, informed me that 2 screws were missing, and that the whole problem was a simple push of a wire or link or card of some kind. My phone works just as well as before. He would NOT accept money for what he did, and he saved me $220, at least. I just bought them pizza and iced coffee. I can't say enough good things about this place! My son's HTC Droid DNA died - wouldn't charge, wouldn't turn on. I called all around and most places won't service HTC phones and those that do only do screen replacements. Then I called Mobile Kangaroo in Berkeley and they do service HTC phones so come on down and they will take a look at it, evaluate the problem and give me a free estimate. First, how many places will spend time doing that and not even charge you? They said it needed a new battery and it would cost $80. A lot less than replacing the phone. Plus, if that didn't fix it, they wouldn't charge me for the job! Amazing! AT&T wouldn't give me the full trade-in value for my iPhone 4s because the lock screen button on the top no longer worked. My screen is looking great, it only cost $600, which, again, 5 months ago Apple quoted $450, so I'm sure it cost less than Apple would have. For reference, my laptop is a 2015 Macbook. My screen looks great and the rest of the computer is in the same position as it was dropped off. Well, it's much cleaner. Nothing went wrong with my data and the software is working perfectly well. Work on my laptop was done in about a week, which was way faster than I had expected. Both members of staff I met, Natalie and Martín, were incredibly nice. When I came to pick up my laptop, I had forgotten my laptop bag as I was out running errands with the dogs. Martín graciously found me a padded envelope so that I could carry my computer to my car without flashing it out in public. Super happy with the screen repair I received! read more

I've never had better service when it comes to phone repair. My Galaxy S3 had severe water damage and when I came in they promised they wouldn't charge me anything unless it was working properly. A few hours later they got it to turn on but the SIM reader and the home/back buttons weren't working. They calculated the price to be pretty high if I wanted to get those replaced and suggested I just get a new phone. In the end they didn't charge me anything at all (because I decided to just get a new phone and say goodbye to this one). TL;DR: Amazing service, super fast, very considerate, and they don't try to squeeze money out of you like most other places around. This is now my go-to place if anything happens to my phone. read more

Would not recommend for Apple products. It's simply not the same experience as the Apple store. I called Apple to try to figure out my problem and got a completely different answer. Staff was not willing to put in the time to fix my device (a simple software update which I've done countless times at the Apple store) and instead wanted to hold the computer for the weekend. I've been to Mobile Kangaroo several times for both my phone and my Macbook and have been extremely satisfied with their services. Not only are they very affordable (and often cheaper than I expect), the staff is also extremely polite and informative about what the problem is. When I gave my phone in, they gave me a temporary phone to use, which is really convenient. The turnaround is also quite fast, but be wary of beginning of semesters, when they can be really backed up! Even then, I always got my device back within the time they estimated so I'm very very satisfied. Went there this morning because I accidentally inserted my sim card into my phone without the tray. I tried to remove it myself with needles, but I just managed to push it even further. The guy at Kangaroo was awesome. Since we were like 3-4 clients waiting, he told me to come back. These guys are great. Saved my buns. When I dropped my phone, I knew it was "just" the power that got dislodged from my phone, it just needed to get power again, it wasn't super smashed or done for! This was an older phone too, so I don't have my data backed up ANYWHERE! Have to make a document with all my phone numbers just to be super safe :-) So, yes, I should upgrade, and I was considering it but first I need to get this phone fixed. They helped me out, I'm good to go, still haven't upgraded, but this phone save was just about $30 and it took them less than 30 minutes, I just did my other errands, got a bubble tea and then it was fixed and I was connected again! I accidentally drop my iPhone on my driveway and - stupidly - manage to drive over when I get back from the store. Miraculously, it survived with only a shattered screen. First broken screen ever. Dropped off at 1030am picked up at 530 and they gave me a loaner. Apple care gave me the impression that it was a same day in store repair ( while you wait .. 20 minutes). It is not that kinda party. You drop it off and they take it somewhere else and fix it. The service was good and they are good guys. I'm thrilled that there is a place around here which could fix my non-popular style phone (Samsung Seek). They ordered the five dollar part on ebay and that solved the problem (frozen screen). Try them before you listen to your phone company and buy a whole new phone!!!! The only reason they get four stars instead of five is because they were so busy and couldn't get to my phone right away. *Edited - see bottom. This place lost a customer today. I brought my laptop in a week ago for a power issue after making an "appointment" via the Apple website. First of all, the appointments are an illusion; the store doesn't actually take or recognize appointments. Second, they only have a SINGLE technician employed. One. The employee, Natalie, was very sweet, however I never received a single update call from them. Instead, I had to call myself three days after dropping the computer off for an update, at which point the computer hadn't even been assessed yet. Via the phone, we determined that the best avenue to go down would be to order a new battery, which I had to pay for ahead of time over the phone. Okay, fine. Natalie told me it could come in as early as Saturday, but definitely by Tuesday. Which means that the shop would have my computer for over a week's time. I'm a journalist, and this is my only digital device apart from my phone, so the time without my computer was directly detrimental. Third, I called for an update today, was put on hold for 15 minutes, then was told that - magic! - my computer had mysteriously turned on and was working perfectly! I visited the shop four hours later to retrieve it, at which point Natalie offered to run a full series of tests - including an actual battery test that apparently had never been performed - while I waited. I couldn't sit around and wait, and asked her why she didn't run these tests for me when she realized the computer was working. She apologized and said she had been too busy. I then asked her how many technicians they employed there, and she told me she was the only one. To Natalie's credit, she did make sure the new battery was refunded, and also didn't charge me anything for "labor" like she was "SUPPOSED TO". Even though she hadn't done a single thing to the computer except turn it on. Yeah. Skip this place and visit the Apple Store instead. It may be more congested, but it most likely won't be more expensive, and you'll get MUCH better service! *Just got my computer home, booted it up, and it's running incredibly slowly, plus the fan is deafening. Spent an hour on the phone with Apple Support, but they were stumped. So now I have to bring the computer in AGAIN, to Apple, because it was returned with problems it never had when it was dropped at MK. read more

Back in early 2015 I brought my laptop in to MK because in the latter months of 2014, I would be in an office, appointment or even class and I would notice a roach crawling out of my bag. I was "stuck" in a dirty, dangerous roach infested Tenderloin type of hotel despite looking for clean, safe, affordable housing on cl for months. Obviously, This was embarrassing and disgusting even though I was the only one who noticed it. Without any hesitation, he opened it and there, under the keyboard was a large dead roach carcass stuck in some wires and 5 - 6 baby roaches scurrying away. He did not charge me for this. My coworker recommended me to this place after I cracked my iPhone 5 screen this weekend & I have to say I'm very happy she told me of this place!! I was doing my research to find a good/inexpensive place out by the Concord area to replace my phone & I had no luck. I thought I was going to have to go through Apple which I didn't want to do because of the cost but my coworker told me of this place out in Berkeley & decided to give it a shot. I went after work on Monday no appointment or anything & Andrew helped me with my iPhone. He was very busy working on other peoples things but he gave me a quote & told me my phone would be ready in 30 minutes. I waited inside the store until my phone was ready & everything seemed fine until i tested it out. Now remember the store was extremely busy & i went in telling them i needed a new screen. So the screen Andrew put on was not working with my phone at all. I told him what was going on before I left the store. He was extremely busy & also stressed because of how many people where asking for help, I don't blame him I would've been the same way. Regardless of how the store was, he offered to look at it before i left. He did what he could to fix it but the screen was no good so he put a completely different new screen & it worked perfectly!! I was so happy & relieved to see that my phone was working again. He also put a screen protector on my phone too which I appreciate. Not only do I appreciate his professional work, but most importantly I appreciate the fact that he went above & beyond with his customer service & made sure I left the store happy with a working phone. I appreciate the fact that he made conversation with me as well instead of it being dead quiet in the store. Overall my experience at Mobile Kangaroo was the best! Their prices are reasonable considering the phone you have. They are waaayyy affordable than Apple I can tell you that. If I ever have any more iPhone complications (which I hope I won't anymore) without a doubt I will be returning to Mobile Kangaroo!!! read more

I also had a $25 yelp coupon so total came to a little over $70 which was a great deal compared to other places. The cheapest quote I got was $100!
