DO NOT COME HERE FOR COMPUTER REPAIR! It took close to 2 weeks for my computer to be repaired. (It was just a new hard drive install, it shouldn't have taken that long.) When I finally got the Mac the aluminum and glass were scratched and not flush with the edge. I called apple and they fixed their mistakes. I would echo the other positive experiences posted by reviewers. I had a 2016 MacBook Pro that begin crashing unexpectedly. Ultimately, it was not worth the repair. Super impressed with this local shop for mac repair. I made an appointment with them as an Apple Authorized repair shop through the apple website. For COVID, they give you a specific time to come in (mine was the next day) and you are the only customer in their shop with them. I took my computer in and talked to Natalie, who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful -- she immediately diagnosed the problem (a failed monitor backlight) correctly, just from experience, before she even ran any tests! I left the machine with them and they kept in touch through texts to let me know about the progress of their diagnostics. Came here during Covid-19 stay home safe order to get my Macbook keyboard repaired! I had to make a reservation on apples website in order to reserve a time slot. The whole process was very streamlined. I arrived and someone came up to let me in - he was wearing a mask and so was I. I had to complete some sort of registration on my phone, and then all I had to do is put my laptop in a bag that they provided and wait a few days. They sent me updates via email/text so that was very helpful! Since my repair was covered under apples warranty, I didn't have to pay anything for this repair. Damaged phone unrelated to repair. Poor workmanship. Refused to stand by work. -11 months ago I took my new Nexus 5x in for a screen replacement. The phone (and screen) were 100% functional, but there was a single crack in the display. -While repairing the screen, the store damaged the power button, resulting in the device no longer booting. They said they'd repair it free of charge since the damage occured during their repair (after some haggling, shockingly). -6 months later, the power button broke again. I took it back, had to argue more, but they agreed to repair it -5 months later, the power button broke **AGAIN**. I took it back. They stated the original repair (which was the result of their damage) was "only temporary," not their fault, and they'd only fix it if I paid them $60 in additional labor. -I pulled the device apart, photos attached. The repair job was done so poorly that the button literally broke loose inside the housing. The button, contact pad, and liner between the button and display are damaged (see photos). There is also what appears to be heat damage from the repair on the side of the PCB and the chip heat shield. Completely unacceptable workmanship. TL;DR: Took in working phone. Got back permanently damaged phone. Had to buy a new phone. read more

I recently took my computer in for replacement of a cracked screen to Mobile Kangaroo. After the "repair" it became apparent that the microphone on the computer was inoperative. After a lengthy on-line session with an Apple tech I brought my computer to an Apple store for the repair that restored the function of the mike. It turned out that the hardware was fine but that the Mobile Kangaroo repair person had used the wrong kind of tape to glue the glass screen back on which ended up covering the mike. Although the company is 'Apple certified', my experience tells me that if I want to get the job done right go to an Apple store to begin with. read more

Don't waste your time with this unprofessional place. Another day they told me that in order to get my phone screen repaired the same day I had to bring it in before 3:00. Well, I finally had a day off and drove here, parked, and walked there in 100-degree heat, arriving at 2:45, only to find a sign in the window that read, "Out to lunch," no indication of what time they would be back. I waited till 3:00, but no one returned, and I was too hot to wait any longer. Well, you're right, Mobile Kangaroo, you *are* out to lunch. I had an unfortunate experience with my iMac, and Mobile Kangaroo came to the rescue! My iMac was acting up and being super slow. Following Apple advisors I deleted the data on my iMac since I had a backup disk. However when it was time to put the data back on, the disk would not mount. After 3 hours on the phone the advisor couldn't help any further and suggested bringing the Mac in to an actual store. Mobile Kangaroo kept me informed along the way, installed a new disk (SSD) and was able to access and reload the data onto the Mac. Thank you for saving me from losing all my data!!!! read more

A couple weeks ago, I was about to get into my car and started pulling out my phone. Being the klutz that I am, I fumbled a bit as it came out of my purse. For a split second, I thought I was going to catch it, but with another fumble, it dropped to the ground.. along with my heart. My phone suddenly passed away without warning. Even after 3 hard factory resets, it didn't come back to life. So glad I found Mobile Kangaroo. The home button on my iPhone 4S wasn't working properly, so naturally my first instinct was to visit the Apple Store Genius Bar for some free service. I was told that nothing could be done to fix the problem, so I might as well buy a new phone. I wasn't satisfied with this news so I visited my local AT&T dealer, who promptly referred me to Mobile Kangaroo. I dropped by the store 10 minutes to closing, and let's just say that the two workers present were super accommodating towards me and made every effort to fix my phone as quickly as possible, even though the job was supposed to take 30 minutes and they both needed to leave on time. Within 15 minutes, voila, the phone was fixed, as good as new. They only charged me $45 and I happily paid for it. All in all, I had a super positive experience here...the store is clean and neat, the workers are clearly committed to their customers, and the location is superb (just down the street from Berkeley BART). Thought that my iPhone was goners for sure. A few weeks ago my iPhone decided to come swimming with me... and it stopped working. Put it in rice... etc. Plugged it in to the wall and it turned on, but that was it. It actually started to make noise. Took it to a repair shop which will remain nameless and they guy said he will try to fix it but it doesn't look good because I got a lot of water in it. I don't think they did anything with it after I walked out the place. Just wrapped it in some paper and put a rubber band around it. Awesome friendly service. Very intelligent people. So one night my gf and I go to a bar and she takes my phone to take bathroom pictures with her ladies. When she comes out of the bathroom she apparently doesn't remember how she got my phone wet, and it didn't look too wet to me (this is after I've had a couple drinks), so I just dried off the moist around the outside and turned it back on seemed ok. Then, at the end of the night I charged my phone in my car(not thinking that there is still water in my phone, stupid me). Phone was fine over night, worked okay, until the next day the volume/power buttons started failing on me. Took the battery out, put it back in, and the power button fails on me. So I take it to these guys and eventually they were able to revive my phone after cleaning some corrosion and replacing the volume/power buttons. Price for water damage labor was $85. Replacement parts, I ordered it myself and brought it in. So all I paid for was labor. Yelp has a check-in deal for %20 off labor service. Final price I paid was $68. JC does do miracles. Brought in a Galaxy 4S two months into an upgrade that took an unexpected bath. Everyone said the water damage was a death sentence for the phone. Dropped by and met the customer service/tech JC. He offered a free estimate. A few hours later, he saved my phone with no parts required. Always come to this place first before replacing a phone! Honest, fast and free estimates. Cannot beat it in the area. I've recommended this location to many people with similar results. However, I always ask for JC for top notch service. read more

So I spent all day going to 2 verizon stores, a radio shack, and the cex by the cal campus, in search of a replacement phone, or to fix my broken charging port (like the part of the phone into which the cord plugs), to much letdown: Verizon tried to bs me into buying a new phone on a payment plan, twice. And the shack and cex wanted ~$200 for a used smartphone, and $80 for a flip phone. Wat??? Flip phones aren't worthless yet?? Then someone told me about mobile kangaroo. At first, was not a fan of this company at all and had written a scathing review. Long story short, I had taken my phone in to have the screen replaced here and later another professional was examining my phone and found that an employee at Mobile Kangaroo had really messed up some parts of my phone, leaving screws out and whatnot. I then paid this other company to fix what had happened at Mobile Kangaroo. However, after writing this review about my bad experience here, Ted, the owner contacted me. He was extremely kind and apologetic, and offered to refund what I had paid at Mobile Kangaroo AND reimburse what I had paid at the other business that worked on my phone later on and found the issues with the Mobile Kangaroo employee's work. He let me know that the person who had worked on my phone had actually since been let go of, and assured me that this was not the kind of service they usually offered. This seems like a legitimate business that not only cares about making money, but also cares deeply about making customers happy. I would recommend Mobile Kangaroo to anyone needing any help with mobile devices in the future, as Ted and his employees seem to be quite exemplary. read more

I am amazed by the service here. I haven't written a yelp review in a while, due to sheer laziness, but there was no way I could keep this to myself. I have an iphone 5, and the hold (lock) button stopped working one day a few months ago. Other than this button, everything else worked flawlessly, and my phone was in pristine condition. My first stop was at the Apple store - they told me that this was a common problem, but they could not fix this button and my only option was to replace the phone. They told me that they were able to fix other buttons, such as the home button, but just not this one - because it would be a mess and they'd have to completely reroute and replace most of parts of the phone. It wouldn't even make sense to fix it, since fixing it would cost over $200; I'd just have to replace it. Since I was out of warranty, they offered to swap it out for a working phone for $270 plus tax. I decided to try my luck with other options. I contacted Mobile Kangaroo, and their service was AMAZING. I was able to come in the next day to get my phone fixed. Andrew helped me, and fixed my hold button in less than 2 hours. It now works PERFECTLY. He was incredibly kind and knowledgeable, and after getting a discount with moocho, I ended up paying less than $50 for the fix. I am so happy. Best repair shop, ever. They also have the cheapest prices I've found anywhere for any repair. This place deserves more recognition. read more

We went there on a Saturday afternoon, after calling and realizing it may take up to 90 minutes to replace an iPhone screen. It was done in one hour and 40 minutes and the phone was like a new! I had studied the ways that I could do this myself, and the shortest wait time would be 4 days and and least cost would be $30. Considering the time that I had to spend and the risk of disassembling and reassembling of an iPhone, I'm greatly happy with the service I received here. read more

Mobile Kangaroo was my last hope. Ted worked on the phone for two days, even taking a trip into the city to borrow some tools he couldn't find in town. I first reached out to the Yelp page for Mobile Kangaroo and was speedily replied to by the owner Ted. I told him about a problem I was having with my phone and he was able to give me a diagnosis and quote me an accurate price right then and there over message. I later went to the store in Shattuck Square where I met Alex who gave me a rundown of the entire situation. I gave him a deposit and he ordered the part needed for my phone and said it would take three days, which it did. He said it would take him an hour to fix and it took less. I had a strange, but pleasant enough experience here at Mobile Kangaroo. I came in, and a scruffy guy in a very dirty Mobile Kangaroo shirt was pacing around the store having a pretty deep conversation with someone who I can only assume is is significant other. While they worked out some sort of awkward relationship thing over the phone, I tried to pretend I wasn't listening and looked around at the (not at all interesting) phone covers in the display case. The technician on the phone wrapped up his conversation pretty quickly (thank you!) and tried to help me out. I thought my Ipod was dead, turns out it was just a charging issue... and of course there was no charge and I was in and out of the place in 15 minutes. The thing that struck me was how sloppy everything looked. There were various smart phones and spare parts strewn all over the counter, and no rhyme or reason the the pattern of work. While the tech plugged in my Ipod and waited for a charge, he messed with the screw on one phone, then picked up another and called someone about something unrelated to my Ipod. He ran around the store, typed something in the computer, then looked at me and told me that my Ipod was old and may just not be worth repairing. He may have been right, but he didn't seem to have actually assessed this with any certainty at this point. He proceeded to turn my Ipod on, then off. Pull if off the charger. Put it back on. Pulls if off the charger. Hands it back. Good luck, my Ipod is old. Oh well. Not my brand of service, but I was relieved I wasn't charged for the assessment. read more

I brought in my phone which was under Apple care for battery replacement. They promised me that the phone would be ready in a couple of hours. When I went to pick it up they told me that it would take another hour. When I went back to pick it up they told me it will take 30 mins and then when I went back they told me that they haven't been able to fix it since the touchscreen needs more work (turns out they broke my touchscreen). I had paid three times for the parking and has a totally broken phone. When I complained the manager Martin Sanchez un-rightfully called police making false claims. Mr. Sanchez is a scumbag and should be fired by the store. Thankfully I had already been to the police station since looked like they won't be giving my phone back. I explained the situation to the officer and he made them write the problem on the receipt and give my phone back. I took my phone to the Apple store and they instantly told me that I should not have taken my phone to Mobile Kangaroo - they are incompetent. They fixed it the same day. At first, i wrote a poor review of Mobile Kangaroo because the repair was ineffective. After that, the Director Ted reached out to me out of concern. He refunded me the $50 for my repair, the $10 for my Yelp deal, and an extra $15 for my troubles! He went above and beyond my expectations. I broke my HTC One X phone screen and went to Mobile Kangaroo to get it checked out October 1st. The guy working there took it apart to see what kind of screen he needed to order. I went back in on Friday because he called me Thursday night to say the screen had arrived. He replaced the screen and it's working perfectly fine. However, the little plastic nub covering my flash was missing. I asked the guy about it, and he said, he'd call me back when he found it. It's still missing. It's not that big of a deal, but their workspace is definitely a bit cluttered. Bits and pieces of a phone shouldn't go poof, you know? ETA: So, Ted contacted me about getting a replacement little plastic nub for my phone. Like I said, it wasn't really a practical need (well, I didn't want dust/water/whatever getting in through that whole because I could see circuits) as more of a "I don't want thing disappearing." Aesthetics, if you will. ANYWAY. Went back in today, Andrew popped out the little nub from another case and stuck it into mine with no hassle. FALSE GUARANTEES I brought my iphone 5s in 3 months ago, when they were still not authorized by apple. Payed $80 and recieved a phone that was not working quite well, the screen was obviously bad quality. Decided to live with it until i upgradet to an Iphone 6, and my screen broke again. Brought in the phone after repeatedly being told that if the phone wasnt working, which it wasnt, apple would give me a new one. Payed $120 and recieved my phone which was not working with a new screen. Went to the Apple store to ask why my phone wasnt replaced and they told me to pay $300 for a new phone. This place gives out false information, advertisment, the service is terrible, unprofessional, dont keep they word and leave me with a phone thats not working and a new screen, for what?
