During lunch time, you'll find a pretty long line. The line moves pretty quickly, but still takes about 10-15 minutes. They'll make your salad to your specification once you reach the front. The salad is good, but it's also expensive for what you get. Most salad's are between $10-15. If you need to get some veggies in your system, this isn't a bad choice. I'm sorry but $9 for a salad is not worth it! I built my own salad and thought it was $6.95 so I figure that was average. But after I got the greens, edamame, egg, hearts of palm and beets on there - I got a $9 tab and I regretted declining the free bread (trying to cut down on carbs)! Yummy delicious salads! I was overwhelmed by the amount of choices to choose from for toppings so I decided to buy the premix Orchard salad, which I really enjoyed. Since lunch was on work ;), I also indulged in a molasses cookie and some pop chips. I noticed that most of the other people in line were being healthy and not getting any adds on, so next I promise to take it back a notch. Staff was friendly and one thing that I really appreciated that was when I paid by credit card, we didn't have to do that awkward song and dance about adding a tip, the card just went through, the receipt just printed out and I was good to go, which is greatly appreciated when you are paying for a lunch this price as other places seem to insist on adding the option for tips! read more

This review is for the Mission & Spear location only. I don't know why I keep coming back to this location because 10% of the time they get my salad right. They always forget an ingredient somehow. Today I ordered a mixt Cobb and they forgot my chicken! For $12 I want my damn $3 chicken. The light, medium, heavy dressing is never consistent. Once I said light and it was so heavy I couldn't even eat it and there was so much dressing at the bottom of the salad container. I could walk all the way back to get my salad corrected if I didn't have something called work! I shouldn't have to hover and hound them to make sure every single ingredient is in my salad. read more

This place feeds me at least once a week. The food is healthy, yummy and filling, and the staff is always friendly. One staff member in particular always asks how my day is (and what's more, genuinely seems to care) and tells me how much my business is appreciated. Being a vegetarian that travels a lot, I'm always on the look out for restaurants that have fresh and locally supported food options that don't mind customizing an order to my needs. The first time I walked into Mixt Greens I immediately fell in love for a few reasons: 1. The variety of fresh veggies, herbs, cheeses, and yes, meats for those interested, is amazing. I've never seen anything like it in all my travels. There is truly something healthy and yummy for everyone! 2. The service is quick and friendly! I typically never order directly from a menu without adding or subtracting something. Mixt Greens is fabulous, they actually welcome custom orders, it's even written on their menu -- they are totally dedicated to making their customers happy. 3. Outdoor seating - nothing like some sunshine with your gourmet salad! 4. You can always count on getting your salad really quickly! Don't be discouraged if you see a line, it goes super fast. My friend and I used to love the Cowboy salad. After several disappointing experiences here lately, we moved on to other places. Today we decided to try it again. By 2pm there was one guy making salads and the rest of the inmates were wandering around the asylum and feeding themselves. Can't they wait until the place is closed? They are often out of items that are must-haves for us (avocado). Do they get produce delivered every day and that's why they are always out? The blue cheese dressing has been off and the salads tasted watered down as if they did not dry the lettuce correctly. Today I again tried the Cowboy and my friend got her usual. The "organic free range chicken, hormone-free, antibiotic free" was so terrible neither of us could eat our salads. It tasted like the chickens from Arkansas on TV masquerading as Foster Farms chickens. The meat was so dense it was even impossible to chew. If this was an organic chicken it must have been 100 years old it was so tough. BIG turnoff. I don't know why the quality at this place has gone down so much, but I no longer have any inclination to eat there. read more

Mixt is delicious! I love their base combo of kale and quinoa to start my DIY salad. Their ingredients are all incredibly fresh but my absolute favorites are their roasted beets, roasted Brussels sprouts, spicy peanuts, goat cheese, and dried cranberries. The few that have taken my orders have been incredibly friendly. As far as price, I think it's on par with other SF lunch spots. Love it-wish it had longer hours/was open on the weekend. read more

Yeah, the salads are pretty pricey but definitely worth every penny. I always get the Vegan salad (be well I think is the name), I always replace the onions with beets and I add tofu. There's dozens of salad dressings, salad toppings, and salad combos for everyone! I have no complaints from eating here, besides the LONG ASS line! I always go before 12, or after 1-2pm (and even then the line is still out the door!). Every time I get my salad, I'm never able to finish it all in one sitting. Their ingredients look and taste fresh, I guess they're of higher quality than most of the other places in the FiDi, but every single time I go here I'm flabbergasted by how underwhelming their salads are. If i'm paying $11-15 for a salad, why isn't there any flavor? Their pre-set combinations are the cheapest way to go, yet the ingredient combinations don't often work well. And their salad dressings are abysmal, and I don't know what they're passing off as caesar. What's worse is, in addition to mediocre salads and high prices, is that you can usually spend half your lunch break waiting in line for this place. My suggestion is to spend and extra 4 minutes and walk up to Breaking Bread and make your own overloaded salad for 20-30% less and in half the wait. read more

This place is down the street from my office, so I've come here a few times. I'm not a big salad fan, but this place puts a lot of goodies in here, so I enjoy coming here. The line is usually out the door, but it goes by very fast. My favorite salad is the Park, which has Chicken, Brussel Sprouts, Potatoes, and Pumpkin Seeds. They ask you how much dressing you want, which is really nice because I like very light dressing. They will also ask if you want a piece of bread. I recently had a problem with a salad I ordered (wasn't mixed right and was missing the protein), so I contacted Mixt and they gave me a coupon for a free salad - the totally right thing to do. So, I use my coupon code to order online for pick-up (the line is usually long, so I wanted to skip it). That went smoothly enough; it was ready when I arrived. I go back to my office to eat and I am disappointed to see that the salad is not mixed, but was likely made earlier today. Mixt is expensive -- $13-15 for a salad and the name would indicate that salads are routinely mixed (or Mixt if you prefer). I looked at the customization options, and mixing wasn't listed, which further lead to my assumption that the salad will be freshly made and mixed. I hate eating dry lettuce, and the plastic containers they come in don't really have enough room to toss a salad. Stars for terrific concept and great flavor profiles; stars deducted for disappointment, not having the option to request salad tossed, and for not being freshly made to order. I'm not saying I'll never go back, but for the price, I won't go back very often for salads that are not crafted to perfection. SOMA Chicken in Rincon Center (across the street) is a better bargain and yes, they make salads to order and toss them. read more

Love the salads here. i usually get the Dagwood which comes with mixed greens, roasted veggies (zuchinni, bell peppers, onions, etc), goat cheese, balsalmic drizzel and lemon ving dressing. Or when I'm in the mood for lots of crunchiness, I get the siam with marinated tofu. Both are fantastic. The lines are usually long during lunch hours, so I'll try to go a lil early and pick up a salad. The portions are huge, so ask for dressing on the side so you can eat half for lunch and the other half later and it doesnt get soggy. I pick up a salad here at least 1-2 a week. =) Salads are around $10+ bucks but for the portion and quality, I'll take it... the nearby places have mediocre salad bars that dont look fresh (and are just as pricey). read more

I like Mixt Greens. A lot. There are three within a three block radius of my office and I visit all of them. On average, I eat at a Mixt Greens once a week, often it's several times. So, I'm generally inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt and that's why the rating for this location is as high as it is. But why am I only giving it only three stars? Well, when I ordered my salad today, I proceeded to watch the guy making it pick up every ingredient with his hands and toss it into the bowl. Yes, he had on gloves, BUT, he proceeded to wipe said gloved hands on his filthy apron in between ingredients. Seriously, Mixt Greens? Eeeeew! Look, I worked food service for many years and I know the kinds of things that go on in a kitchen, behind closed doors. So, it's not like I don't think they're not all handling my food with their gross hands back in the kitchen, anyway. BUT, I like to try to suspend my disbelief. I have to, otherwise I'd never be able to eat out again. So, I'm going to give you somewhat of a pass and try to convince myself that I'm building my immunity by exposing it to bad things. Plus, in all my visits, that's the only time I've ever observed this, so hopefully it's just one bad apple. But do me a solid Mixt Greens management and counsel your staff on proper food handling techniques so I can maintain some semblance of naivete with regard to the sanitary properties of my food. Okay? A hefty and healthy salad! I'm not a fan of bleu cheese, but I had their "Cowboy" salad which is dressed with a light bleu cheese dressing plus another dressing to give it more of a kick. The two contrasting dressings actually makes this salad really good. read more

Get here before 11:30 or after 1 if you want anything less than a 30 minute wait. FiDi workers are crazy about this place.
