Overpriced, yes. But everything is always fresh and portion sizes are big enough that I sometimes end up with leftovers. I usually go to the downtown Oakland location near my office but happened to be in this area for a doctors appointment and was coming up against lunch. I always get the Orchard salad but this time opted for one of their seasonal salads. It was just ok and the portion felt smaller than usual thus the 3 star review. Was looking for a healthier dinner option, and SO glad I came across this place! Ordered the Orchard salad and it was DELICIOUS!! So disappointed by their Mixt Cobb. The ingredients did not taste very fresh, there was barely any avocado (I watched my salad maker put in a couple of thin, semi brown slices), the proportion of lettuce to everything else was way off (there was so much lettuce), and dressing was too sour (he also did not even ask me how heavy I wanted my dressing); I barely finished half of it. I went here on Friday. I have been eating here at least 3 times a week since I have been back at work in mid January. However I won't be going here any longer. The portion that the guy made my salad was so much smaller than the lady. I paid $18 for my chicken Caesar salad that I wasn't even full. I ended up buying another lunch to eat. Cockroach sanitation issue at this location. My coworker received extra protein in her iced tea in a form of a cockroach (we named him Steve). One would think after spending $17 on lunch (salad + iced tea), one would not need to vomit after realizing you drank 1/3 cup of cockroach juice. We took a trip to Mixt...with Steve in a cup; but of course, no manager on site (had to step out for a meeting at 3 pm), instead the staff was laughing at Steve and we were told to come back at 4:30 pm. I happened to be in the area after a class and noticed that there was a short line at this particular Mixt Greens. They luckily seemed to have all of the ingredients I usually put on my salad (they often run out after busy rush periods). They asked if I wanted dressing and if I'd want it light, medium, or heavy. I told them medium. I turned away quickly and before I knew it - my salad was done and handed to me. I noticed that the guy making my salad - was putting down an empty looking dressing bottle. I wish I'd looked at the salad closer- because by the time I made it back to my office - I realized that there was basically no dressing on the salad. It was dry and very bland. I left most of it and unfortunately I didn't have enough time to head back to Mixt Greens to ask for more dressing. I know that these things happen - but paying almost 12 dollars for a salad that you can't finish isn't cool. The guy making my salad - should have grabbed a new bottle in the back - rather than rushing the process - or at least explained that they were out of salad dressing and checked in to see if I wanted something different - rather than knowingly handing over an undressed salad. I eat here about twice a week for lunch. I always place my order online or in the app before going because the line is usually really long but the teaam does their best to keep it moving. They're great and do what they can to make your salad as fast as possible, which at lunch time is very much appreciated. Since I order online, my salad is usually ready and waiting for me on the shelf and I've only had to wait for my salad a handful of times. Like I said, their team works really fast, which one time caused a piece of meat to make its way into my vegetarian salad. It wasn't a big deal, as I saw it right away and was able to find a hungry home for it. This did cause concern for me as someone who has a bunch of food allergies. I swear, every single time that I come here, it gets worse. It's never my personal choice to get lunch from this spot...always a coworker dragging me along. When I first came here, I'd get the albacore salad, but hated it every time bc it lacked any flavor. All of it had zero flavor. Then, I noticed they took it off the menu. This place is directly under my office. By 12:30 everyday there is usually a huge line - I wish I owned the place b/c I bet it makes tons of money and it is only open for lunch M-F. The salads are expensive but enough for 2 meals. I got the seasonal one with roasted brussels sprouts, chicken, pumpkin seeds and potatoes. I do wish they chopped the chicken a little smaller for better distribution. I also would like them to offer a "chopped" option - say for $1 they would really chop it up for easier eating. Delicious and healthy salads, always fresh food and the nicest people working behind the counter. A bit of a line between noon and 1pm but after that fast service. You seem to get a little more salad if you place your order in person and it gives you a chance to talk to people. If you let them know you are eating there you can get your salad in a bowl and eat with a steel fork so less plastic to pollute the environment with. I always pick a pre-designed salad because the chefs seem to know what to combine, but you can make your own. Either way, delicious and nutritious.
