Overall had a great experience and excellent food. A few minor things I didn't love, but thought it was a good place for a special occasion. To start, I feel like they close too early on weekends. Closing at 9:30pm on a Friday in downtown seems a bit ridiculous, although it was pretty empty tbh. We got here for a reservation just after 9pm but they said they do stay open later for guests already there. I did see a few people turned away tho coming in later. The included bread and butter was good, especially since I was kind of starving. My friend and I were able to split an entire meal without any fuss which I thought was great and made the prices seem more affordable. The lobster bisque was one of the best I've had! I wish there had been a few more chunks of lobster but deff enjoyed. The Jalapeño scalloped potatoes were recommended to us by our server. They had a nice jalapeño flavor without being spicy. A great suggestion. The asparagus was fine. The added side butter did nothing for me. The filet was cooked medium as requested and was excellent! It had a nice crust on the outside and tender and warm in the inside. I again appreciated being able to split the 10oz. Service was good, but I wouldn't say it was anything outstanding. Overall, the experience was decent but not special. The food was good. WE ordered several apps, and all were decent to good. Dinner we started with salads and there were good. My main meal was salmon, and it was cooked mid-rare, which was perfect! The flavor was passable. The key here was presentation over flavor! I ordered an Old Fashion, which they don't do correctly. Ambiance was good for Sunday brunch (12-3pm), service was slow (only us and one other birthday table of about 10 people) ended up taking 2hrs 45min for brunch & desert, however, waiter/waitress were attentive when they came to our table. Our steaks were slightly undercooked for what was ask for (med-well & well). Unfortunately very skimpy on available sides, no seasonal vegetables or even baked potatoes. Our big complaint is ridiculous prices for anything and everything, nothing under $6 (including sides). No way a small 7oz filet should cost well over $30 and something like $68 for a 14oz ribeye oh and those prices did NOT even include a side, they had to be ordered separately. Sorry, but for the price it wasn't that great. I would not recommend it unless you have money to burn. read more

Pros: The restaurant was nice. It has a romantic dim type of feel. The service is really good. We were greeted as we entered, then greeted again at the hostess stand of course. Our waitress was really nice and check on us once we got our meal. The corn, steak, fries, and mashed potatoes were amazing! I also loved the calamari! Cons: I ordered the lamb and it was just way to strong smelling for me. I usually loveee lamb but theirs was too strong for me. The lobster bisque was super good, but I didn't like the cheese or whatever white stuff they put in the middle. It threw off the soup once I mixed it. The Mac and cheese could use some more love. It was a bit dry for me. It's super pricey, we paid $200 for two people, it is a nice steakhouse, so that's to be expected. Overall, I liked my experience. A good place to try once. read more

We overall did not have an incredible experience for spending over $200 on a dinner for 2. We came to celebrate a special anniversary dinner, and there were too many things that went wrong to salvage the occasion. We showed 5 minutes before our 7PM reservation, and weren't sat until 25 minutes after our reservation was supposed to be for. Our drinks weren't made correctly, which was for something simple (bloody mary), and our server was tied up with a large table most of the night. They brought a totally different side than what we had ordered. It took longer than normal for both appetizers and the main courses to come out. And when we had voiced our frustration 2hrs and 15 minutes into dinner, it still took us 25 minutes to get our dessert boxed up and pay our bill. We came back to Mitchell's because this is the place our relationship officially started. We appreciated management comping the dessert (and including an extra one), but we will probably not be coming back for a while. There are so many nice steakhouses in Columbus, and we want to be more thoughtful of where we choose to spend hundreds of dollars on infrequent, special occasions. read more

The tenderloin was good though the Oscar top was under seasoned, the shrimp scampi was seasoned perfectly. We went to Mitchell's on thanksgiving for their prix fixe menu. Our table was ready right away after making a reservation on OpenTable. The host staff was very kind, but the decor is a little outdated in the restaurant. The seating options in the restaurant are mostly very intimate. They have a nice selection of wines and custom cocktails. The prix fixe menu included four courses including soup, salad, turkey entree, and dessert. All were well balanced in flavor, I was super surprised by how large the portion sizes were! The experience was definitely worth it!! I would definitely recommend for those who have a smaller family or those who don't love thanksgiving leftovers! read more

I ordered lobster mac and cheese and when I received my food there was barely any lobster. It seems all they did was just sprinkled a couple shavings of lobster on the top. I travel almost every week for work and I have eaten at some of the best steakhouse equivalents across the country, but I still come back to Mitchell's. I also rarely post reviews and when I do its usually because the restaurant was awful. Nate Street the Executive Chef has a well oiled machine and he clearly has a passion for food. Every dish was well seasoned and absolutely delicious. There were a few dietary restrictions in our party, so when our server Ben made the chef aware he came to the table to explain which dishes modifications could be made so we could all enjoy the same food. We were sat at a table with a view of the street and the high vaulted ceilings and beautiful artwork made it such a beautiful place to have a meal. I will continue to suggest that all of my friends try this place. It is well worth the money spent. read more

The highlight of the meal was the 1st bite of my husbands Steak au Poivre-which he said was rated 100 out of 100 but it went down hill from there. The next bites were very salty and fatty. One of my forks was dirty and scratched. The Caesar salad was dry. The refills on soda and water slow. The shrimp in the shrimp scampi were tough-almost inedible. The pasta was rich and cooked properly served with shrimp which was a plus but there were only 3 or 4 halves of cherry tomatoes which constituted the veggies. The fries and carrots arrived later than the main entrees. The fries were very soggy. The worst part was the specialty vegetable of the day-heirloom baby carrots which were full size carrots, and didn't appear to have been peeled-soaked in olive oil and served cold by accident. After the meal was almost done, the new carrots arrived uncooked. I had to show the waiter this and ask for it to be taken off the bill. He came back and offered us a free dessert but only from four of their less expensive choices, none of which we care for. He told us the chocolate cake was too large to offer and he would most likely not be able to get permission to do that. The manager did not come to see us. My service dog was with us and the younger staff at the entrance did accommodate us with an ideal booth-The manager had attempted to tell us something about not having dogs in the restaurant when the brilliant young staff members said-yes we saw you were bringing your service dog on your reservation and are able to accommodate you. No one however offered us any water for my service dog which is very common in most restaurants. Of course based on the poor quality of the food served and treatment, I'm not surprised. There are many great places to get a good steak and seafood in Columbus, I'd recommend choosing some place else. The problems we had were not related to COVID staffing issues, either. We took out of town guests and rang up a $500 bill. The service was exceptionally slow and not very good. They placed us in an area where the server couldn't reach all the glasses to refill water. So they didn't all get refilled, mine was the one that wasn't. She didn't clear the table of plates or glasses. The filets were sinuous and chewy. We spoke to the manager and his response was tepid at best. I guess they are so busy they don't care. There are better steakhouses to go to in the area. read more

Beautiful restaurant with great decor and ambiance. The meal was very disappointing - a steakhouse that can't cook steaks. I ordered the filet mignon Maxwell medium well done. It was a tiny dry piece of steak with some sauce and little lobster crumbles. The broccoli side was literally a large piece of steamed broccoli crown with a little container of butter sauce- zero prep work went into preparing it. Hubs got the ribeye medium done, which was also a dry, thin piece of steak, some parts medium and some parts well. The oysters were fresh and delicious and the cocktails were tasty. Went here for happy hour and I guess all of the staff haven't arrived bc there was no hosted so we basically sat ourselves in the bar area. It appears the bartender was the host, server and bartender so of course he was spread thin. The mushroom toast was my absolute favorite thing I ate there. The calamari was good but needed more sauce. The Caesar salad was very bland. The salmon was not to my liking as it was very fishy. I actually could not eat it. I tried to mask the taste with the mustard cream sauce but it did not help. The Brussels and bacon mix was mediocre as well. I think unjust picked a bad dish. I ordered a side of scampi shrimp which was very good. For dessert I had the creme brûlée and being that this is my fav dessert, I'm critical. It was good but I wish the ramekin was deeper. My friend had the citrus butter cake and it was just ok. It was missing something... perhaps more sugar. Overall, I expected more and was a little disappointed with the food. We went to Mitchell's last night with my family, been there many many times over the years. Dinner was super yummy. Service was okay, took one hour and 15 minutes to get food, we had a five year old with us. We actually didn't mind that, as we like to take time to enjoy our dinner and time together. Mitchell's does the bare requirements as it relates to accommodations, and actually probably wasn't meeting accessibility requirements last night. I have seen this from a couple vantage points over the years. When I had a baby, I had to sit on the floor of the bathroom stall to change her diaper because they didn't have changing table. Now, my mom has a spinal cord injury, and accessibility is top of mind when fine dining, which we do a lot of it (typically handled much better than at Mitchell's). There was not an entry onto the restaurant without a step from the curb, and the valet parker was unwilling to help us figure it out -- poor training, immature guys. They wouln't help us on the way out eaither, and parked the car in front of a planter (yes, I moved it myself). The accesibility ramp was blocked by a table, making a difficult situation more difficult, as my mom does not like attention. The Manager was in front of me, didn't help; and he knew I was upset and never even stopped by my table to talk. They need to get it together and move with the times, and care about ALL that patronize thier restauarant. I'll go back, but am really disappointed and sad about this. I'd like them to reach out to me to tell me how this will be improved in the future. The only folks sensitive to our issue were the hostesses, who were lovely. read more

For my stepson's 21st birthday, we wanted to take him for a steak dinner. We chose Mitchell's because my husband has been several times for lunch and knew the quality of food and service. My folks live near and were joining us, so it was a good location. I made reservations online and noted the special occasion. When we arrived, the hostess remembered it was a birthday. It happened to be her 21st the next day so they bonded. Not really. He's shy. We were seated, and our server sprinkled birthday glitter on our table. A nice touch. A few minor annoyances: we were told at the start that the bread was in the oven but it would be brought out soon. It never came. We could have reminded him, but he seemed busy, and later it was too late for us to fill up on bread. He forgot my husband's wine and had to be reminded after he brought out the others. My husband's and mom's baked potatoes were lukewarm. The majority of the meals were very good. I had the salmon with brussel sprouts, minus the bacon. The lobster bisque is wonderful. The birthday boy got a free dessert - the chocolate lava cake, which he devoured so it must have been good. My mom stopped eating meat and doesn't love fish, and there were no vegetarian entrees (I know it's a steakhouse, but still). She made do with a salad and 2 sides. Recently my cousin and his daughter along with my two teenage daughters dined at the Mitchell's Steakhouse downtown location. Our reservation was at 5pm. The restaurant was huge but there were only 8 or so people there including us. I ordered the Kobe steak. When it arrived I was shocked. It was a shade of gray...similar to an elephant. I ordered it "medium" and it was cooked to medium which was good but the steak was very tough and had little flavor. It was so bad I could only eat half of it and threw the rest away. That was a $70 steak?! I've had Kobe steak before this experience and it was delicious. My cousin ordered a NY strip and he said it was terrible. He ate most of it though. When we left at 7pm I counted 15 people on a Friday night! Apparently we didn't get the memo. I would never recommend this restaurant for an enjoyable dining experience. read more
