After reading some of the reviews, I was a little leery about going here after I had made reservations. But I decided to go ahead and try it out. My husband and I sat at the bar and had wonderful service. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. I had the steak lettuce wraps and they were delicious and my husband had the burger and fries. Both were on happy hour. We ended the evening on their cheesecake and my husband said he had one of the best old fashioneds here. I guess don't always go by the bad reviews. Give it your own try. I have been here for few events. This place can host different sizes of parties/events. You don't have to worry about parking; they have plenty of space. The staffs at every event I attended here were just "ok." They were never friendly but not rude either. I just found their attitude every indifferent in every event that I attended. Now let's talk about food. Every event I have been to, there is a sperate room that caters food. I have always been to events that had buffet style food. Every event, we had to wait for the staffs to replenish plates and utensils. We had to track down people to replenish the food trays. Most of the food was not labeled and the room looks very messy and unorganized. They really need to do a good job in the organization and communication department. With so many banquet halls in Columbus, I would not recommend this place for your next event. read more

We had a reservation for two at 7:00 p.m. and arrived at 6:48 p.m. When we walked in, there was no one at the host stand, so we stood there waiting for several minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Since we were early, we didn't expect our table to be ready immediately, but the lack of anyone at the front was not a great first impression. Unfortunately, things only got worse. We sat for over 15 minutes without a single server greeting us, offering us water, or taking our drink order. During that time, multiple servers walked past our table, and we watched guests who were seated after us receive service before we were even acknowledged. To make matters worse, a server walked up carrying plates of food and attempted to deliver them to our table. My husband informed the server that we hadn't even ordered yet, since no one had spoken to us. Even after that obvious indication that our table had been completely overlooked, no one came to assist us. After waiting more than 15 minutes without any interaction from our actual server, we decided to leave. The restaurant wasn't even busy, making the complete lack of service even more disappointing. We came expecting a nice dinner and instead left feeling ignored and forgotten. This experience fell well below the standard we expect from a restaurant that accepts reservations, and unfortunately we won't be returning. read more

It was my first time at The Boat House at Confluence Park because over the years it was The Confluence and other names before settling on The Boat House. The food was great because of an event there and will have to check it out and get a great view of the Columbus skyline. Booked for the New Year Eve Party 12/31/2024 7:30pm-12:30pm Theme was masquerade. This an event venue with great views of Columbus, so I was excited to try a NYE party that wasn't just a hotel and a DJ and standing room only all evening. $177.91/per person with fees for the "window seating". This is for a table of 8-10 so couples know you aren't at a private 2 seater by a window. Overall we were at a rectangle table and our seats were the 4 farthest from the window. Knowing that now, I would have selected "dining room" and keep the $25+ upgrade - also its night so with the lights on in the room, we couldn't see the skyline anyway. One had to be outside or right at the window to see anything. Ticket included buffet meal (noted below), open bar (no brands mentioned) dessert and some "extras" (vague). About the evening...Checking in was a bit of a line, but it was moving. We were taking to our seats around 8pm. There was a welcome glass of sparkling, white, or red wine, main bar didn't open until 8:30pm, but the server for our table cam around with bottles of wine for refills before that time. Bar opened at 8:30pm and it was a MAJOR line. Little did we realize another bar opened in another room. Overall the alcohol was mid. Tanqueray, Titos, Bourbon was Benchmark (meh), some kind of scotch, Rum, and Tequila too I believe, didn't catch the labels. Would have upgraded for a higher quality bar with inclusion like Woodford. Music for the evening was a jazz band (keyboard, trumpet, drums) nice Motown and jazz standards, some people were dancing. No real Emcee for the evening, guests were permitted free roam of the venue and just to enjoy themselves. We enjoyed our friends company and caught up. Dinner, didnt check the time but maybe served 8:45-9pm? Buffet style 2 lines so pretty good flow: meal ticket includes the Salad, rolls, potato au gratin, pasta, salmon, steak, steamed vegis. Dessert, served after dinner, still in the buffet room but also brought to our table by the server, combination of macaroons, cookies, and slices of cake. Very good. Service offered coffee or tea after dinner and took care to clean up plates and offer beverage refills of wine. Once the jazz bad concluded a DJ took over with popular dance hits. Most took to the floor. Great timing, we danced but also relaxed at our seats. We walked the venue and took a step outside as well. Cold but beautiful view of Cbus. Looked like rain so we assumed no city fireworks. Midnight offered a sparkling toast with service placing and filling glasses! Happy 2025! Really great everything, it was like a wedding reception with no bride and groom. Lots of ages and backgrounds of guests was nice chit chatting with folks. We went for Thanksgiving this past year and had a wonderful time. Very cozy with the central fire going. Great decor for Christmas and the hostesses was very pleasant to be working on a holiday. Food was excellent, server was supreme, very personable and very nice and real genuine. Loved his job. The 4 layer chocolate cake hit the spot! So tasty and moist. My friend held an event here and the event itself was very nice. The Buckeye Hall is spacious and you had enough space between tables to move freely. They have decorated the lounge area nicely for the holidays to give a warm feeling. My issue is with whoever was managing the kitchen that day. The event had chicken tenders and fries which were served for the kids, but they had run out. There was no sign that this option is for kids only, so unsurprisingly adults had taken these food items as well. Some of the kids do not eat anything else, so a few moms had asked if these items were going to be refilled. One of the staff members was really nice and said he would check, which then brought the chef out himself to say there were actually no more to be served, but he would fry a few for us. That was very kind of him, so we waited near the table for him. Ten minutes later we are approached by a man saying "sorry, no more food will be coming out." It had no context, so we said yes, we are aware, but a chef said he would bring a few out for us, to which he replied "listen, this was a freebie itself, there was only tenders for a 20 kid count... the buffet has already been discounted...it's in the contract... etc." I was like taken aback... 1) I'm not the host of the event, so I have no idea why a contract is being brought up to me who is just a guest attending, it was super unprofessional and unnecessary, 2) I did not demand any more food to be brought out, it was offered to us, and 3) I did not need this condescending attitude from this man, all he had to say is "I know the chef said he would make a few, but we are not able to offer more tenders." That right there would have been perfectly fine and that is no problem, because if you can't, you can't. He definitely put a negative vibe over something so simplistic just by the way of his attitude during a beautiful event. Shame! read more

What a glow up!!!! I've been to The Boat House for several dinners and a NYE party where the restaurant always seemed a little dark and dated. However, since reopening the whole place has been refreshed! I think this might be the best happy hour in Columbus right now, on Wednesday-Friday stop in between 3-6:30pm and the drinks and food are so cheap!! I love their new drink menu, absolutely order the Paid Vacation, it's delicious and comes in such a fun styled glass. The Smashburger is amazing, I can't believe they put it on the Happy Hour menu for $9. This was a perfect spot to celebrate a friend's birthday. Our group of girls was able to share a bunch of the appetizers and we all had multiple cocktails and glasses of wine for $25ish a person. I will definitely be back and want to try for a patio table, you can't beat the view! This also seems to be a pre Crew game hot spot so be prepared for a little bit of a wait when the bar gets backed up. read more

Most people were seated on the outdoor patio. It took 47 minutes to get 3 cocktails and 2 glasses of wine. And 35 to get a few appetizers. 50+ minutes in, we were told "we have a party of 15 so if you want dinner, you should order that soon." I'm sorry, you've got servers all over the place. How can you not accommodate a party of 6 and a party of 15, along with your other guests? People arrived after us and still didn't have their drinks when we left. ABYSMAL. The restaurant itself is nice as are the views from the patio. Visited the restaurant since they reopened and I wanted to see the renovations. Not only are the renovations a huge improvement but I was surprised to see how elevated the food and drinks were compared to the menu before! they really took the time to perfect everything. the one in a melon cocktail was to die for and the spinach and artichoke dip was delicious! Omaro and Mary took care of me at the bar, they were wonderful and super friendly! Great service! I couldn't be happier with the improvements they made and will definitely be back soon. Let me start this review at the parking lot of the Boathouse. As we pulled into the parking lot, we had to dodge many potholes. This made me wonder what are we going to find when we get inside. When we got inside we were greeted and we were seated at a great table overlooking the water. Or, what little water was there. Our server fast approached us to see if we would like a drink which we did order. Drinks were great. However, the server, although friendly lacked professional dress. Her blouse, which was white had one button missing as well as blotches of spilled food. Keep in mind, this was a 5 o'clock seating, which was one of the first of the day. But, setting that aside, we ordered an appetizer of calamari, which was tremendous. We ordered a Caesar salad, which was very good. My wife and I ordered steak. She got the 8 ounce fillet and I got the 16 ounce ribeye. Our friends got 8 ounce fillet and the short rib. When the steaks arrived my wife ordered hers medium well and it was rare. Our friend's steak, which is supposed to be 8 ounces looked like it might have been cut incorrectly. I would say it was approximately 6 ounces. We brought that up to the server she said all the steaks were 8 ounces. That was her answer? OK, they had to take my wife's steak back and they returned with another steak which was a little bit better but it certainly wasn't medium well. It was still very very pink on the inside. My ribeye was so thin that the edges were curled up on the sides. The shareable mashed potatoes that were we received was barely enough for one person also our friends got broccoli and it was not big enough to share. We were there for over 2 1/2 hours. Very slow service and quite frankly they were busy but more busy catering to special events. They had three special events going at one time. Our bill with tip was a few dollars shy of $300 for the two of us. I don't mind paying $300 but I expect to receive meal worthy of $300. I've never gone to Ocean club or the Barn or Jeff Ruby's and spent $300 or $400 and walked out feeling like I didn't get my moneys worth. The service and the food at those restaurants are perfection. This at the Boathouse was not. It appeared that it was a business set up to do parties, business events, birthdays, etc., and then they added a restaurant to it. Oh. The Boathouse was the perfect venue for our daughter's wedding. The ceremony on the deck overlooking the rivers with downtown Columbus as a backdrop was an incredible setting! For the reception, the floor to ceiling windows in the Olentangy Room displayed a similar view with the added feature of an illuminated downtown in the evening. The management staff , Edward and Kelsey were wonderful! They were easy to communicate with and addressed all questions and any concerns I had. The staff working the event were fabulous too. They were all very friendly and personable and really helped make this anxious mother feel things were in good hands. Thank you all for your hard work Edward, Kelsey, Jo, TT, Kevina, Brandy, Maya and David. I also have to mention, the food was amazing! Salmon and steak were served.The salmon and accompanying sauce were so favorable and the beef was the most tender I've had since dining at my favorite steak restaurant in Texas. It honestly was the most delicious food I've ever had at a wedding. I definitely am looking forward to dining in the restaurant portion in the future. After waiting a casual 35 minutes for our appetizers the manager came up and said "if you're ordering food I'd get it in soon because we also have a party of 15" apparently the kitchen isn't prepared to feed 21 people in a restaurant that can easily seat 200. Food was subpar and my glass of wine (yes it took 45 minutes) was maybe a 4 ounce pour. The wine didn't even come to the lower curve of the wine glass. My one star goes to our server because it he was so kind and clearly everything was out of his control. Long story short, don't go, you'll be disappointed. Big yikes. read more
