This is such a cute, artsy, fun place. Great place to host any type of party with super friendly staff. I attended an event here, where we were able to bring our own food and drinks. When it came to the painting, they had everything that you would need to paint. You just need to show up. The staff gave easy instructions to help you create your own masterpiece and went around to help anyone that needed extra help. My friend hosted a private painting event here with chai and snacks. We were a group of 12 and they had plenty of space for sitting, snacking, and chatting as well as space for the paint set up. I found the place to be very cute and the event made for a super fun afternoon with friends. You are able to bring in your own food and decor and set up there. The studio provides all the painting tools (canvas, brushes, paints, smocks, easle, etc.). My friend hosted us as a treat, so unable to provide costs. The two girls working there were very nice and demonstrated the painting to us. They came around to fill up paint colors, change waters, and to help with the paintings individually. I came here with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary and we had a wonderful evening! He loved making his own soap bars and I had a great time making some coasters. The finished soaps smell amazing and I am happy with my coasters as well! I had a lot of excess concrete so I was able to make extra coasters and got more bang for my buck. I came here as a double date... was so very happy to have something different to do. I don't have an artistic bone in my body, and this is my first time doing something like this. The two staff members were extremely helpful, and kind. They walked us step by step on the basics of our masterpieces while allowing creative control. They were extremely helpful with offering more paint and using a hairdryer to speed up the process and ensuring your piece was dry to take with you. They had a great playlist, allowed food and drink... which allowed an additional level of comfort. This studio also sells lotions and candles, but didn't push the products. They have a stamp program where you can eventually get a free session. This was so much fun... and I think I will return. read more

Yet another fantastic class at Studio 614! In the past I had taken a string art and paint your pet class here (see original review), so the expectations were high & they exceeded every one again today! I have participated at a similar class at another business for a fundraiser, but it was nothing like the experience I had today. Not only did we get to select from a wide variety of scents & essential oils, but we really got to dive into the entire process. Megan did an outstanding job assisting us with everything from how to create our wick to painting our concrete candle holder and everything in between. There was another staff person on site who specializes in scented oils that provided best info on scent building and pairings. Such a cute and quaint studio! We had a private session making string art and it was loads of fun! The two artists guiding us were very helpful and great with instructions. I would've like a little more time to work on the project, but we were booked for a specific period of time and when time was up, we were out so they could prepare for the next group. I ended up bring supplies home to finish, which they were kind enough to provide. You can bring your own food and drink and they have lots of space to set up snacks separate from crafts. I've taken three art classes at this studio and have loved them all! I like that they offer more than just paint-in-a-group type classes. So far I've done the string art on wood, make your own essential oil candle, and knit your own blanket. The instructors are always patient and helpful! I also really like that these are skills you can use in the future, maybe to make friends gifts or decorate your own place. The studio space in itself is beautiful! I love how clean and chic is it. Also everything was designed with reclaimed materials - the 'tables' are painted doors. I think that is such a great concept and it shows you there's a lot you can do with old or discarded objects. I was here this past Saturday as part of a bachelorette party. We were able to reserve and pay online prior to the event. We were given two painting design choices: a tree or an elephant. Martha, who taught our class, was so sweet, and patient. She gave instruction, and walked around giving assistance when we needed it. She even added a little pumpkin to my friend's tree painting when she asked her to. We had all the supplies we needed, and everyone had such a great time. Martha even took group pictures of us with our finished work (and using multiple phones). It's a wonderful little studio and they offer different types of art classes. You may bring your own wine; they offer a bottle opener, plastic cups, and water. There is a small lot in the back, and there is street parking. I recommend! read more

We were trying hard to find a way to be cool parents for our daughters sixteenth birthday. We were successful! We initially scheduled five to "paint your pet" and due to lovely Ohio weather, we had to cancel at the last minute. The folks at Studio 614 were generous with the reschedule allowing us to choose any other night to come and have our party. Easy to find, easy to park, and the folks that run the operation make it fun for the participants. Bring your own drinks, snacks, wine etc. They graciously offered us an IPA and since we're driving other people's kids we refused. Still a really nice gesture. Studio 614 is the BEST PAINT PARTY in town! Located a couple minutes off-campus and seconds from Downtown, you will find this studio filled with paint brushes, exposed brick walls, bomb ass women, and a good time. Recently, I co-hosted a surprise paint party for a family member who was new to Columbus, and she loved that she had the entire studio to herself along with spending quality time with her closest friends and family. To say she loved it was an understatement! We were able to BYOB and kicked back, listening to Chris Brown's newest album while painting summer pineapples. The owner, Megan Sharbaugh graduated from the University of Cincinnati (my alma mater) and I remembered when she first reached out to me as a blogger to participate in a painting class at a bar. I went to a candle making class at their studio today. I've also done a paint your pet class but that was at a restaurant. The place is a little hard to find and parking can be difficult. Inside the studio it is big and open and they give you everything you need for your class. There was a large choice of scents to choose from for my candle. They also gave you paints to paint the holder if you want. You can bring your own food and drink to the class which is fun. There are always a fun list of classes to choose from. But, regardless, Studio614 fits this city like an afro on Bob Ross! Located in an area just north of The Ohio State university's Campus, off of interstate 71, Studio614 is easy to access and has street parking. The studio itself is unparalleled to others of it's kind, it's got room for you, your friends, your friends friends, and their friends. Really, the seating makes this studio so awesome because you can plan larger work events, bachelorette parties, family nights, team building, even date nights with allll of your friend couples. The Studio also does outside events, like at home house paint parties and stuff like that. Cliche, but think outside the box on how you can get some crafting into your life. Lastly, maybe your mom hung your art work on the side of the fridge and painting isn't your thing. I'm a side of the fridge artist, I know the drill. Have no fear because there are other types of crafts offered, like that trendy string art where you wrap string around pins in a piece of wood, they have crocheting to make those comfy large threaded blankets, there's wreath making and so much more. Also, you can bring your own drinks...sooo if you're on the fence, obviously go, and take a little sipper, your inner Martha will be there in no time! I did the candle making workshop at Studio 614, my first time there but certainly not my last. We were made to feel very welcome & very safe with seats 6ft apart, masks required, gloves etc. Not only is my candle my favorite thing that I'm so proud of haha, the service was amazing. How fun! My friends and I went to an arm knitting event on a frigid winter night. It was a much needed girls outing! The arm knitting was surprisingly simple - the assistants were very sweet and helpful. It was a relaxed atmosphere and we all had a great time. I was (somewhat reluctantly, since I CAN'T PAINT) at Janet F's party. It was fun, and we are actually going to see if we can schedule one. I liked 1) that we could choose our own image; 2) didn't have to "paint by numbers" and could mix it up a little in color & style; 3) could ask for suggestions - if we wanted them - on how to improve our images. So, whereas it started as an excuse to hang out and eat/drink, I actually learned a little about how to paint. Enough to want to do it again - I worried about a mess - on me AND at Janet's house. It's not messy, Megan takes care of all of the details/mess prevention, there are an abundance of (washable!!!) colors to choose from. You can see I'm the killjoy here, and I would do this again and even in my house with teenagers or adults (I don't have anyone younger, but I suppose you could do it with them, too). Soooooooo. . . if you've ever contemplated doing this and said "nope, too messy, too hard, can't paint, not fun" you're WRONG. It IS fun, it's NOT messy, and you CAN do it. My kids - one of whom actually IS an artist - were arguing about who got to put up my pop art sugar skull in her room. So gather the friends, relatives, kids, or people you have to entertain and are not sure what to do with - call Megan. You'll like it! (And you can put that annoying person across the room from you, they'll be so engrossed in painting you won't have to talk to them.) read more

I participated in the Paint Your Pet portrait class with my mom and aunt. I recently moved to Columbus; this was the first time the three of us went out and spent time together to try something new. We had little to no experience painting and we were all a bit nervous! The team was was amazing! So helpful, instructive, patient and fun! I'm sorry to say this was a horrible experience. I felt neglected from the start. I hope it was incompetence and not the bigotry I suspect. I used the stopwatch on my phone to measure how much time the teacher was spending with others compared to me. I mostly sat and waited while others had been given next steps to work on. Two hours into a three hour class I estimated that I had been sitting and waiting for 90 minutes of it. Of course I finally walked out hurt and humiliated. read more

I recently visited Studio 614 as part of a bachelorette party for my soon to be sister-in-law. The bride chose glass painting and it was a perfect choice! Each girl got to choose two glasses to paint and Megan did a great job directing us on picking out our designs. It was truly relaxing and everyone's glasses turned out beautifully! This place is AMAZING!!! The staff is awesome!!! They literally catered to us on top of giving great easy to follow instruction. The painting was not intimidating at all, and we all left feeling like artists!!! They have so many pictures to choose from to paint even some cool OSU themed ones. There is plenty of space to hold what ever type of event you may want. I was there for a Ladies Night Out with co-workers. I LOVE STUDIO 614. We had the best time!! Honestly I think everyone (no matter what age/gender/walk of life you are) needs to experience a class at Studio 614. Or hold a private party/event, which is one of the unique perks that comes with of being a "traveling" art studio! The class I went to was held at The Social Room, a cozy, holiday-decorated bar off Park St where we painted the Columbus Skyline.. And I have to say it was one of the most rewarding and enjoyable nights I've experienced in a long time. Even though I came in with very little art experience, somehow I walked out with a beautiful masterpiece of our city that I will proudly hang in my apartment! Plus Meg has such a unique way of teaching and encouraging you along the way while still creating a fun, laid-back atmosphere where you have the freedom to add in your own twist along the way.
