Although we agree there was less historical information given about the area than our other food tours (in German Village and Dublin), we left with bellies extremely full!! My friend Nykie and I participated in the Scavenger Dash this weekend, and, oh my gosh was it fun!…read more We were lucky enough to win a free team registration from Yelp for this event, which is basically kind of like a local Amazing Race. Teams receive a list of 12 clues that take them on a whirlwind tour of the city to complete various tasks, including taking a photo at local landmarks, obtaining specific items, or completing physical challenges. As soon as the race started, everyone ran to gather the clue sheet that was soon going to determine our fate for the day. The clues were almost all local trivia and locales that were easy to Google if you didn't already know. (I didn't need to search when it asked us to go to the place where you can find the Autobahn and Bahama Mama!) Some of the other clues included GPS coordinates, decoding some Morse Code, and references to Columbus historical sites. Obviously as we completed our tasks, we spotted the other participants. While most of them were running, Nykie and I decided to take it slow and just keep up a brisk walking pace. (We both tend to fall under the 'only run when chased' category of fitness.) We traveled around 5 miles on foot, covering much of the Arena District, Downtown, and German Village before jumping on a bus for a long haul up to the northernmost point of our journey, Goodale Park. (One of the rules of the dash is that you can only use public transit - no cabs, rides from friends, etc.) We both agreed that our favorite challenge was one where each teammate had to unfold a frozen t-shirt and put it on. While the day was cloudy and not nearly as hot as it had been, all of our hustling made sure that we were nice and warm throughout the trip, so this was a WONDERFUL relief! Because of our aforementioned lack of fitness, walking the Scavenger Dash was still a challenge for me and Nykie. We powered on despite our blisters and were entertained enough by the experience that we didn't even complain! (Well, not very much.) When we finally finished the race, we really felt like we had completed a great accomplishment! Granted, we were the second to last team to finish, but for us, it really was about the journey, not the ranking. I can't wait to do this again next year!

My boyfriend and I love taking haunted history tours in October, and I briefly worked at a theater…read morewith Will, so I knew his tour would be fun! I was right! The tour went for a little over two hours, strolling leisurely through historically significant areas of Columbus and stopping to grab a drink and listen to stories. Will clearly loves this city and its history, he tells great stories, and he frames the tour with fun locations and good drinks! I can't wait for the new tour he was teasing for spring...

Even after living in Columbus for a couple years, Will showed me so many great spots around town…read morethat I wasn't aware of. He was able to customize his tour according to what I was interested in and kept the tour very entertaining! Not only does Will have a great knowledge of Columbus, he keeps up to date with all the cool things happening in town. Like when he created a tour for aspiring photographers to take part in a city-wide photo challenge. That was a fun scavenger hunt and I walked away with some amazing cityscape photos! My 3rd tour with showmecolumbus was their Haunted Columbus tour. I had low expectations because I don't like cheesy gimmicks designed to startle you. Will's approach was nothing like that. He filled the tour with extremely interesting stories from our city's past and joined them with their eerie locations. This is a must-do-tour for the fall season!!!

Went on a Saturday around 12, started to get pretty busy around 12:45-1:30. Which makes the…read morecave/cavers very tight to walk through. While your down there your using a provided map to guide yourself around and match the corresponding areas ( Ex; A to A or 1-1 ) We went after it had just rained the night before, so everything was VERY wet. Wear waterproof/walking shoes if you plan on exploring. Be prepared to get dripped on by very cold water coming off nearby rocks, and the "ceiling". Coming down the initial very steep stairs is a beautiful view of different levels of rocks decending into a tunnel/cave where the rest of the cavers are. Tons of puddles all over the ground from collected rain water and the "droplets". Most the areas are about big enough for one person to walk through the tunnel areas at one time, and if your a larger person i DO NOT recommend going down there. Some areas are extremely tight and really only accessible to someone under 4'5 and around 100 pounds or less. (Im 5'4, 140 and some areas i almost got stuck cause it was too tight going through the rocks. It is neat to see though, i dont think id want to do it again as it is just wet rocks and the furthest tunnel was closed from the previous year that occurred from some heavy rain water. (The water collected, over time causing a collapse). So that was kind of a bummer but i get it for safety reasons. The gem mining was fun, definitely loaded with a lot of "gravel" type rocks so that was new for me, Ive only ever had ones with dirt/sand that yield rocks/gems/shark teeth. We found some really interesting gemstones in each tray. The petting zoo was great. I thought it wad Going to be boring and smelly, and i was happily wrong. The goats were adorable, when we came in a baby jumped through the fence and was following our group. And when we came inside the "pen" to pet them he ran back in it was very cute! The deer were a little skittish but very sweet and gentle. The treasure hunt/maze was VERY fun we enjoyed getting different prizes snd trading them within the group.

If you have a young daughter, or even if you don't, check this out. The fairy doors are scattered…read morearound downtown Dublin businesses, and a few over in Bridge Park. Most are inside the businesses but a few are visible outside. One place, I think Paris 75, has a HUGE fairy garden outside as well. The thrill of the chase. The cutesiness of the doors. The friendly staff, who will help even though you probably aren't buying anything (I mean, yes, I _might_ be a customer at the upscale men's clothing shop, but clearly I am focused on the fairy doors with my daughter.) And downtown Dublin is a fun place to walk around anyway. History, culture, snacks, and more. Baby K had a blast. We'll do it again with her friends. Start at the visitor's center to get a map, or grab it online. Fill out the names on each door and send the sheet in to get a free t-shirt. Be silly for a few hours.
