Overall this escape room was an awesome first escape room experience. It started with Jacob, who did a great job acting and setting the scene for the Wild Wild West adventure. So good, in fact, that I kind of thought he was actually drunk instead of just pretending. But, he wasn't. He was very funny, helpful, and definitely added to the experience we had. The adventure itself was challenging, but not too challenging. We got out with 8 minutes to spare and felt that all of the clues made sense and ultimately led to our success. I was surprised by the cleverness of the clues and just how much fun we had overall discovering the clues. We had a really fun time here on a date. Our host was funny and set the stage for us. We were in the "Back to the 90's" room which was appropriately setup to match the theme. The music choices were especially fun. We came as a couple and were then together with a group of 6 that seemed to have done this sort of thing several times before and so we took a few minutes to get into a groove with the rest of the team. Once things got going though, we had a really good time. Our team got out with 4 minutes to spare. One note: $25 per person seems a little pricey to me. We found a Groupon and so were able to do a little better than that, so keep your eyes peeled. read more

My team recently completed the Escape Adventures from Y2K 1999 experience in Chicago on Michigan Ave. Our host was Alex and he was great. His energy from the minute we entered the door immediately set the tone for the day. My team didn't have a clue of what to expect and they had sooooo much fun, just to quote one of my teammates. The experience was a lot of fun, finding clues, dancing a little bit, jamming to music, etc. I really appreciated how Alex gave us modest helpful hints to keep us progressing through the experience but not revealing anything too major. I would highly recommend this experience and I look forward to returning again in the future. I shorted this review one star because the location, though ideal on Michigan Ave, is awkward considering the age of the building and the set up of the room. The layout is weird, but Alex did the best he could to guide us through the rooms blindfolded. I wasn't ready for that...Nonetheless, we had an AMAZING time. Bravo, Alex!!! read more

This activity was awesome, we did the Game Show Show - we received this as a Christmas gift and were unsure what to expect. They recreate the gameshow experience with vests, a cool name tag and a 'get to know you card.' Our hosts, Bucky and Samantha played their parts very well and brought a lot of charisma and excitement to the hour long event. They also do a variety of game show like things such as wheel of fortune cookie, family feud type rounds, jeoporady type trivia, charades and tons of other surprises throughout the hour. Another bonus, is your family or friends can watch you live when you go. The game show hour went way too fast and would definitely do this again. It's great for date night, team building or just a group of friends who want to have a goofy time. Highly recommended - the experience is definitely different!! read more

We were a little unsure if we had the right building at first, then we saw a sign saying, "ZOMBIE". This must be it, we thought. Ten minutes before it was time to enter the room, the zombie on the other side of the wall hit it with his chains and howled. I literally jumped three feet in the air. Needless to say, I was a little nervous. It was three of us that went together, and we ended up having 9 strangers in our group. We worked together though, and got out with 16 seconds to spare! I would recommend buying all 12 tickets and going with a large group of friends or family. There are so many clues to find and puzzles to solve, but I won't give anything away. The instructor was in the room with us and, if you pay attention and are stuck, he or she may give you subtle clues to get you moving in the right direction. For our first escape room experience, DJPJ took awesome care of us while we rocked the casbah during one heck of an 80s dance party! We went for a birthday party and had a great time. It seems a little weird walking into an office building off Morse Rd, but you're easily transported into your particular venue (zombie takeover, 18th century Italia, 80s dance party) with the help of your enthusiastic (and totally in character!!) guide. I recently did the DaVinci's Lost Meatball room with my wife and two good friends, and we had a great time. We all play board games together on a regular basis, so having a cooperative, interactive puzzle like one of these rooms was a novel challenge, and it really delivered. Our host Joel Savage was accommodating and fun. The next time I do an Escape Room (and there will definitely be another time), I'd like to request fewer hints--I want to deserve the victory! However, I realize the hosts must have a hell of a time reading each group as quickly and correctly as possible. Some groups will want to be walked through the whole thing, some groups will want the host to be totally hands-off, some jokes are going to kill with the 6:00 group then fall absolutely flat with the 8:00 group. I get it; I sympathize with them. Joel was high-energy and helpful, and I think that's really all you can ask for. If you're looking for an unconventional date night, or there's nothing interesting playing at the movie theater, or you have to somehow kill some time with your in-laws, or you're a gamer looking for something a bit different, or you like puzzles or mystery novels, or you're already tired of this list, check out Room Escape Adventures. The price tag might seem a little high for something that lasts about ninety minutes in total, but I for one thought it was great fun and worth the price of admission. read more

Our granddaughter asked to do an escape room for her 9th birthday. We chose Crazy Cat Lady - Mr. Whiskers' Birthday! Our group consisted of Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, Dad the birthday girl and her sisters (ages 7 and 5). Everyone had a blast! The room was very well set-up. It was apparent that a lot of thought went into each clue and puzzle. I've done escape rooms at 5 other locations and the staging was as good, if not better. The big difference was our host, Patricia. She was an amazing. Patricia greeted us in the lobby, never broke character and answered all the girl's questions (there were A LOT of questions). She gave us hints when they were needed and lots of encouragement. She seemed to genuinely enjoy hosting our group. Patricia really took the experience to the next level, and we will always happily remember the hour we spent searching for Mr. Whiskers! read more

For our friend Fred's birthday, he wanted to get eaten by a zombie. Well, not eaten, per se....rather, just chased by one for an hour! As such, a gaggle of us headed out to Columbus to indulge in a scenario by Room Escape Adventures. Truth be told, I didn't really know what to think, going in. I had seen something similar on an episode of "The Big Bang Theory", but aside from that? No real foreknowledge. Going in, the building was fairly non-descript, with only a block exterior showing. We were greeted cordially by the hosts--our "Professor" and his "assistant", as the fellow who was about get zombified for our amusement. All three provided a great, immersive role-play experience with tons of great quips being thrown about. Special props go to the zombie himself, who really threw himself into the role! Inside, room escape challenge involved answering a series of puzzles that, when solved, would provide a piece of a combination to a combination lock. Within that combination-locked box lay the key we needed for our escape. I won't spoil any of the puzzles here, as it's something that you really need to experience for yourself, I will provide a few hints. 1) Look *everywhere*. There are a bunch of clues and puzzle components hidden in very unlikely places. 2) The zombie is attracted to noise. You can effectively "tank" the zombie by attracting him to people clapping or making noise. 3) Share your information! If you know something, make sure that others know it. That's hard to do, in among all the noise, but make sure you direct your comments to people who need the information. 4) For a while, you can limit the zombie's movement by getting him to wrap his chain around the central desk. After a while, that just doesn't work, though! 5) Don't give up! Just keep piecing things together and you can make it through! All told, we had a blast. We didn't survive, mind you--we only got 3 pieces of the combination together before our time ran out--but we all had fun. If you do try a Room Escape Adventure sometime soon, I'd recommend doing it with 6-8 people. Any less and finding clues could become difficult. Any more and it gets really crowded, especially in such a small area. If you're in the area and want to try something new, give it a whirl! read more

Wanted to go with 3.5 stars since the staff members were so great. I participated in two other non-zombie escape rooms and enjoyed them much more. I, personally, didn't like the zombie concept because it added a level of creep factor and completely distracted you from game play. I know this is all part of the game design and concept, but I prefer concentrating and playing the game without the zombie. I didn't enjoy pausing the game and teeter tottering around the set for the zombie to do its part. The room was too small and there were too many people- again...IMO. I think the 30-32% survival rate is too low! Is it great for team building? Yes! Could you do it with family (older kids)? Yes! Did we win? No! Would I do it again? No, not with a zombie. Kudos to the great game design & execution. We solved everything but needed another 30 seconds. read more

This was such a great time. We had a small group of 12 for a birthday celebration. I had no clue what to expect, you pretty much get put in a room, a small room at that, with an actor portraying a zombie, and puzzles/clues you need to figure out to escape. This was a great experience and would love to do this again. The puzzles are fun and well thought out. If you can't figure something out, try something else, and come back to the one that is stumping you. The people that work here are great, funny and do such a wonderful job. read more

I want to give this 4.5 stars. My friends and I did this event twice. One was back in March, and one today (Nov 12th). The second time was very similar to the first, but still different enough that we got stuck. I think the puzzles were very well thought out. When the clock starts you really have no idea what's going on. There's just a bunch of random things placed in front of you. As long as everyone can work together, all the pieces will come together. The reason why I knocked half a star off is because of their props. Many of the puzzles that needs to be solved include manipulating certain "toys" and devices...but these things are all 90's tech that seemed to have been abused by a kid. Even when we figured out what to do, it takes forever to get the damn thing to work. Which is super frustrating, especially since we're fighting the clock. Unfortunately my friends and I have not successfully made it out of the room either time. We would have been successful if we had another 30 seconds or so. I think if some of the devices worked properly, we would have been successful. I heard there's a second version of the game coming soon. I can't wait! I will definitely sign up. I just hope they update their props! read more

It was really great -- a lot of fun, occasionally tense and puzzling, and we even got a detailed team evaluation at the end that highlighted skills our team members actually demonstrate in the office. Three other friends, my wife, and I decided to check out Room Escape Adventures on a Friday evening -- Friday the 13th, actually -- to test our escape abilities. We had an absolute blast, escaping only in the last minute and a half. We chose the room themed around the 1990s, and I have to say that it was not as easy as we had thought it would be. My wife and I had done several other escape rooms in the past, two others had done one, and the other friend had never had the experience. We were joined by another person who had signed up on her own. With the "guide" from the 1990s with us, trying to give us hints, we still were only able to get out by the skin of our teeth. If you want a challenge that is also fun, just do it. We plan to try out a couple of their other rooms as well! read more

They stayed in character and kept us actively working puzzles, even when we would get caught up in an especially challenging riddle. Out family of four (two adults, one 12, one 16) recently did the Divinci's Lost Meatball escape. We had a great time, and there were such a wide range of puzzles to solve that everyone got to meaningfully contribute. We had previously done one other escape room in Tennessee that didn't have in-room actors to "host". The in-room guide really makes a hug difference. Our guide, Chef Andonio, added a comedic element to the program that really raised the fun level. He was able to help on silly things that otherwise would ave been frustrating. For example, once we had correctly solved the puzzle and gotten the right combination for a lock, but we weren't successful in opening the lock. He suggested pushing then pulling the shackle ... and it worked. Without that guidance, we would have been frustrated wasting time on something that isn't meant to be an element of the game. Amazingly, Chef Andonio stayed in character the whole time, which really does increase the immersiveness of the game. I know Chef Andonio's restaurant was only a half start, but he gave a five star performance greatly increased our enjoyment. Thanks! read more

I've been to escape rooms before, but this one is easily my favorite! My buddy and I went in for the zombie escape room, and we had a great time. It was sad that we got our brains eaten. However our zombie, Corrine (hopefully this was the right name), was such an amazing zombie that I don't mind having her eat me for dinner. Our host, Mike G. (His Dr. name is too long for me to remember ), did a wonderful job helping our group out when we were stuck on a puzzle. His humor was hilarious and kept us entertained the whole time. This was a gift for my son and his friends for my son's 15th birthday. One of his friends had to cancel at the last minute so I lucked out and got to experience it with them! I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but the experience was a lot of fun and the zombie element added to the excitement of trying to solve the clues and get out of the room on time. The puzzles we had to solve were designed to be challenging, but manageable by people of any age, so adults didn't really have an advantage over the kids. I think this helped everyone work together regardless of age difference or whether you knew each other or not. I highly recommend this for a night out with a group or even a date night to break up the old routine. Lots of fun! read more

This was our first escape room and we had a fun time trying to figure out the clues and looking for keys around the room. I organized our work outing with the help of Tabbie, she e-mailed me proptly with all my concerns and even called me one day to be sure i didn't need anything else before our team outing. We did The Game Show Game Show. with Joel Savage as our host and Tabbie. They were excellent. We all had no idea what to expect and everyone had a blast. Chef Edino was an absolute riot. We had a fantastic time doing Da Vinci's Meatball. Edino was hilarious! I think we continued to laugh all the way home. It's been my 6th escape room and this was probably one of the most memorable. I've done them all around the world and this by far was the most entertaining and humorous. So I went back! Did the wild west room this time, and Savage as the sheriff was hilarious. The funniest part of that room is singing lullabies to keep the sheriff asleep while you work on your breakout. The sheriff 'talks in his sleep' to give you a few hints. This one seemingly was a lot easier than the meatball room, but still fun! I hope to do the 80's room soon, and maybe get to the zombie rooms that are the main draw for most. I took my family today as a surprise Christmas present. In general the premise is good. Mike the Zombie was a great actor. The girl in the room with us was not well informed, she did not recognize that their equipment was broken and did not know how some of the games worked. We were in the second room and I do NOT recommend that room. TWO of the major pieces of the story/puzzle broke down. I don't want to give away the game but one of the safe batteries died so there was no possible way to open it. Also the middle of the room game died and so its puzzle pieces could not be won either. There was no possible way to win these 2 puzzles. With one malfunction I can see just an apology, but with 2 malfunctions we should have gotten at least a partial refund or an offer to repeat in a different room. This place has potential but I would not go back until they pay more attention to their set. read more

I booked this for my cousin's bachelorette party and have been so excited to check it out! The big day arrived yesterday and we arrived our 15 minutes early. Our conductor, if you will, led us through all the highlights, instructions, and tips and made sure we had our name tags too. Instant fun is using a name that is not yours so we had some good giggles over that. In we go! WHOA!-room is way smaller than I thought it would be and there were 10 of us(you can have up to 12). We all dashed to start solving something, anything! We quickly learned we are not as creative as thinkers as we all thought! We came so close and had only one clue left that just stumped the bejeezus out of us and that is what caused our demise. Sadly, we were eaten by zombies. We left feeling mentally and physically drained-who knew how much energy it would take. We all agreed it was sooooooo much fun and we would all do it again. Zombies-1 Jamie's bachelorette party-0. My friends and I decided to try this escape room on a whim, and it far surpassed my expectations. We chose the Chamber room, the puzzle was challenging, the room itself had just the right amount of funny props, red herrings, and more than a few surprises! The actor, Douglas, never broke character and was a perfect guide when we got stuck without giving too much of an answer. His performance enhanced the experience. There were 11 of us that participated in the Room with a Zombie adventure. Most of them 14 year olds. They loved it! The professor, Connor, was awesome and helpful with the kids. We did the Mr. Whiskers Birthday room. Our host indicated this was her first time in her role as Crazy Cat Lady. Unfortunately, she was completely disinterested, not helpful, not involved, and not in character the entire time. There was pointless busywork, and no real puzzle solving required. Basically, we were expected to find a bunch of random things hidden in a bunch of random places. The whole room had a sad, grimy, second-hand, makeshift quality to it. We've done in excess of 25 escape rooms, and this one was the second worst we've done. A real disappointment. read more

We went with a group of 6 recently, using a Groupon. Went to the DaVinci room and had Stan as our guide. He was awesome and ensured we all had fun and stayed on track. The room had interesting riddles, hidden doors, and fun strategy built in. From showing up few minutes early to the review at the end the entire experience lasted about 75 minutes. This was a great team exercise and I could definitely see ya using their services for future company retreat activities. read more
