Fantastic coworking space. Welcoming staff, great extra amenities, and best in class space. My favorite option in Columbus !

I found Graystone through a website for venues in Columbus when I was looking for a corporate…read moreholiday party for 70-80 people. Graystone Cellars is a banquet venue in the Brewery District located in a limestone vault. (pretty cool, huh?!) They carry some local wines & their food menu looks delicious! Plenty of options from a la carte apps to dinner and apps to dinner, drinks, & apps, etc. For drinks, there are multiple options from sodas to wine/beer to wine/beer/spirits, to better spirits, you name it! Brian was responsive and the information packet he sent me had everything I would want to know (the food and drink options, venue pictures, cost, etc.). I asked if gratuity was included, and he confirmed it was added into all of the pricing. So, it was a really great option! I haven't reviewed places I haven't experienced, but we looked at quite a few venues, and I was really impressed by the quality of food and drinks, how beautiful the space was, and the price. It was the best venue option, in my opinion. So, I wanted to share! The only reason we didn't book Graystone is because one of my colleagues got too nervous about the little lead time we had & wanted something with live bar music for the younger folk, so he booked a grungy bar. The younger team wanted to karaoke (he didn't), and he knew that no one could karaoke if there was already live music & a venue available to the public, so here we are. Ha! Fingers crossed for next year.

My friend held an event here and the event itself was very nice. The Buckeye Hall is spacious and…read moreyou had enough space between tables to move freely. They have decorated the lounge area nicely for the holidays to give a warm feeling. My issue is with whoever was managing the kitchen that day. The event had chicken tenders and fries which were served for the kids, but they had run out. There was no sign that this option is for kids only, so unsurprisingly adults had taken these food items as well. Some of the kids do not eat anything else, so a few moms had asked if these items were going to be refilled. One of the staff members was really nice and said he would check, which then brought the chef out himself to say there were actually no more to be served, but he would fry a few for us. That was very kind of him, so we waited near the table for him. Ten minutes later we are approached by a man saying "sorry, no more food will be coming out." It had no context, so we said yes, we are aware, but a chef said he would bring a few out for us, to which he replied "listen, this was a freebie itself, there was only tenders for a 20 kid count... the buffet has already been discounted...it's in the contract... etc." I was like taken aback... 1) I'm not the host of the event, so I have no idea why a contract is being brought up to me who is just a guest attending, it was super unprofessional and unnecessary, 2) I did not demand any more food to be brought out, it was offered to us, and 3) I did not need this condescending attitude from this man, all he had to say is "I know the chef said he would make a few, but we are not able to offer more tenders." That right there would have been perfectly fine and that is no problem, because if you can't, you can't. He definitely put a negative vibe over something so simplistic just by the way of his attitude during a beautiful event. Shame!

The Idea Foundry defines itself as a community of makers, designed to help you explore new ideas and unleash your passion to make things. It is a place for creative people to gather, work on their projects, bounce ideas off of and support others. They also offer a multitude of classes to the community. We decided to sign up for "Woodshop Orientation A: Table Saw, Miter Saw, Jointer & Planer" in the hopes that it would help us with our first home project. The cost is $90 per person for non members. Yes, you can become a member but I'm not going to get into all that info in this review. If you want more info on that, check out their website. When we arrived on a Saturday morning, our class was given a mini tour of the foundry. Then we went into the workshop that they utilize as their classroom. There was one instructor for our small class of 9 people. I appreciated that the class was small. I also enjoyed the instructors vast knowledge and concern for woodshop safety. In fact, maybe the class should have been named Woodshop Safety 101. We went through the class with one piece of wood, starting by making a cut with the miter saw, and working out way through the use of each tool. By the end of the class we had a perfectly cut and planed smaller piece of wood. Ultimately what I think I got from this class was the confidence to use machinery such as the table saw and miter saw on my own. The class gave me a real chance in my adult years to use these tools and I hope that will be helpful for me in the future.
