We learned that you can pick your own caterer and provide your own booze which can go along way in both cost and allowing you to truly customize your special event. This was one of the top contenders for our wedding day. What ended up keeping us from booking is that we wanted to have a November wedding and this venue is perfect for outdoor weddings so it just was too much of a gamble with the crazy Ohio weather. If you're venue shopping, I highly recommend this place. It was just so nice and if you're an Upper Arlington resident, you can get even more of a discount. Check it out!

The staff was excellent -- always checking in to see if we needed anything. According to Charlotte, one of the venue coordinators, they can seat about 150 max. The wedding I attended had a little under 100 guests, with plenty of room to move about with the dance floor set up in the front of the venue. For the ceremony: There is a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking a pond w/ a fountain. Plenty of seating with a small aisle for the bridal party to walk down. For the reception: There is plenty of room! Tons of natural lighting. A concession stand type window bar area and an alcove to set up the food and cake tables. I was very impressed with this venue. It was clean, modern, easy to access, great staffing, with tons of natural beauty to it. I will definitely be suggesting this location to future photography clients. Well done, Amelita Mirolo.

A bogus lie. Her staff was onnsite the entire time. They have portable ac units which did not keep a comfortable temperature. My cake was melting. My guests were sweating uncontrollably as well as had their hair ruined. I had expressed to Mishalle that I experienced a central air outage at my baby shower and truly did not want to experience that again. Mishalle was very unaccomodating and I paid $3050. This review is purely written from a guest's experience at the Tremont Club (which is part of a…read morecondominium complex) - I didn't reserve the space here or take any part in setting up the event, so I can't really comment on those aspects. I don't know how pricey the place is (it didn't look cheap, though) and I don't know if the hosts had to set everything up themselves or if someone helped. As a guest, however, I can say that this is a simply gorgeous space to be in. When you walk in you're basically walking in to a wide open hallway that's (at least partially) lit naturally thanks to the wide windows at the end of it. Don't think the club is limited to one hallway, though: there are rooms galore to explore and use. For example there's a small library in one section of the building, and there's also a media room with a collection of classic movies in another. Additionally, there's a great kitchen space and a living room area with an enormous TV, tables (and given the time of year I was there, a Christmas tree). There's fireplaces as well, although I didn't look to see if they were functional or decorative. They were a nice touch either way. I also have to say, space in every section of the building was used well (I'd even say strategically), so that the entire building feels very open and inviting even though it's also filled with lots interesting art and decor. I also liked the fact that the color schemes they used were both pretty to see and yet very official - a great way to ensure that the place looks great for any gathering. Everything was so neat and clean, I simply couldn't complain about things - for the most part. I did find it frustrating that a space clearly designed to host large crowds only had one open bathroom when I was there. I really couldn't tell if it was the only bathroom in the area or if it was just the only open bathroom, but either way it admittedly created problems after my entire extended family had been eating and drinking for a couple hours. Overall though, the event I attended went smoothly and I enjoyed quite a comfortable afternoon here. I doubt I'll have a chance to return since I'm not a local, but it's a good place to keep in mind for sure!

Our photographer had a 10am reservation and we were there about 10min early. Building was locked and staff couldn't get in with their key fobs. They had to call and "wake up" the owner to come unlock the building. We weren't given good communication or how long the wait would be. Waiting with a baby on the side of High Street was less than ideal with her getting fussy being strapped in a stroller. Owner shows up almost 30 minutes later, doesn't even acknowledge us as she walks by and opens the door for the staff. Once inside one staff member realizes that we were the 10am reservation (not sure why that took so long? the building appears to be an old abandoned warehouse otherwise...). He apologizes for his unprofessionalism up to this point shows us around and promises our photographer a discount on a future booking for the inconvenience. Seemed the least they could do especially because a 20 min delay completely messed up our session as we had a staggered 20 min arrival of different family members to participate in pictures with our baby. HOWEVER, upon leaving photographer tells us staff member texted her during our shoot to say owner will actually not be offering any discounts now or in the future and he apologized for the miscommunication.... so I had considered coming back but DEFINITELY NOT for us or the photographer. They had raised their prices and also charged me for things that were not supposed to be there. It was a LOT of money. They made me send them a copy of the pamphlet that they gave us during our first meeting to prove the price difference! This is so unprofessional. Also, coordinators were young and must have been trained to say, "of course" and "absolutely". That's fine, but after a while, I just want things done as we discussed. Ours (Harper) left the company a few weeks before the wedding, and when I requested a face to face meeting with the new one that we had never met, she said that they normally don't do that, but she would. Um yes. And even though we went through details with her(Mia), there were things that were missed. We specifically asked for no champagne toast, yet flutes were on the tables and they started pouring at 2 tables before I caught them. There were other things, like a non working fridge in the get ready bridal area (so warm drinks), food that was already out when we arrived with flies landing on it, the wrong cross rented from Serendipity, when we specifically asked for the thicker/more substantial one, plastic black hangers left on two of our floral arrangements lining the ceremony aisle (Fiori Florals) and a cake that was NOTHING like we selected. It was on a black stand when we selected gold, we paid $60 extra for pearls and there were maybe 12 on the whole cake, the gold icing was yellow/brown, and it tasted and looked nothing like what we originally ate and chose. To top it off, it was dry and crumbly. We ended up giving it to our hotel staff. Mia did not seem prepared to run a wedding. She sent the MOB down the aisle with an usher walking back, so they had to move to the side. There were good things about the venue, but just be prepared for many things to go wrong. I had every checklist in the world, and it still wasn't enough.

When my father and I arrived a half-hour early, we found the door locked as it started to pour rain and thunder and lightning. The rest of the family was already inside setting up and getting ready. This so-called venue manager or whomever was in charge finally saw us standing outside and opened the door and rudely asked with an attitude, "Are you family?" What kind of a question, IS THAT? Also, why in the hell would you lock the outer doors of a wedding venue that is currently occupied? That is a fire hazard! Also, if you have posted business hours, you are not allowed to lock the doors, regardless of whether its by appointment only or not. I was half expecting her to be a gracious hostess and say, "Hello, welcome, are you here for the wedding? Please come in." INSTEAD, before I can respond, she continues to say, "We don't let guests in before the start time, only family." Of course I reply politely as I can that we are family. My father and I were the only two members of my aunt's side of the family attending this wedding. Everyone else that was attending was the bride's family members who came all the way from India, Canada and other parts of the world, and my Uncle's family members who were all local plus family friends. They only had 9 tables and not everyone even came. I'm actually very glad that my mother, who is wheelchair-bound, could not attend because this building is not ADA compliant by law. She wouldn't have been able to use the bathroom or enjoy the patios without someone helping her up and down. When we got inside and greeted our family, I could clearly see that this wedding was not going to be starting right at 5:30. (I even had offered when we arrived to help put out the name cards for the tables on the guestbook table for them so they could focus on the food and the bar, and I was immediately dismissed with the rudest attitude from this manager.) They claimed it was because of the rain and that they were going to have the blessing outside and were trying to wait for it to pass, but by 5:30, they hadn't even bothered to open up the bar or put out hor d'oeuvres. They didn't even have coffee made, and we couldn't even get a soda, they just had water and tea ready. It wasn't until 6 or so that my cousin finally walked over to the bar, told the bartender he was the groom and wanted the bar opened because people were stuck standing around the staff scrambled to finish setting things up they should have been brought out at 5:25 PM. My cousin told me that because they didn't open the bar on time, they didn't use their money's worth of alcohol. People were coming to this blessing/reception for an already married couple, expecting some sort of food for them to much on right away, and it wasn't served until nearly 7 PM. it was nearly 8 PM by the time I got my food. The salmon was so dry and overcooked and was cold because of their delay. The staff was also rushing around trying to move things along once it got going. They brought out COLD PIZZA at 10 PM that should have been brought out way earlier. They didn't cut the cake until after everyone was done eating. It should have been cut up while everyone was being served their plated dinners. As someone who has worked in the customer/food service/retail/restaurant industries for the last 20+ years, I WOULD NEVER EVER run my own business like this, treat my clients' guests horribly. I always LOVE it when I work and it's clear I'm struggling and my customers or regulars immediately ask to help. I have never seen so much disorganization from a venue since my own wedding at a completely different venue in another county in Ohio five and a half years ago. Don't use this venue, clearly others have had the same issue with the professionalism and speediness of this staff.

Baking macarons is a tricky thing and Damaris did such a good job breaking down all the steps. She gave us lots of tips and tricks for our home baking, and you can see her passion for what she does. That said, I have been to several of the cooking schools in Columbus and this was my least favorite overall attendee experience. It was more expensive, yet very "basic" for lack of a better word. All of the cooking classes I have attended come with some kind of amenities - a welcome cocktail, wine bar, cheese and crackers, hot coffee/tea, etc. Something. This class was three hours long and there was nothing offered but water and iced tea (on a 20 degree day). We also did not receive any kind of information prior to the class, so parking was like solving a mystery (hint: the parking lot is behind the house down a side alleyway)

So first off I want to say I am glad my husband purchased me this gift. In theory cooking with tea…read moresounded like the coolest thing ever and it was a very thoughtful gift, but the actual experience was a bit lackluster. The Seasoned Farmhouse is a beautiful space, but the cooking class was just okay. I unfortunately didn't learn any new skills and the main reason for this review being so low is because my husband and I got food poisoning at the event. I felt sick as soon as I ate the food and didn't feel better until 24 hours later. I have lots of thoughts on why this happened, that I will explain later. Class + Recipes: The recipes we tried were good. It was a class all about learning how to cook with tea. We made Shaoxing Wine Tea-Poached Chicken with Scallion Oil, Sweet Tea-Brined Roast Chicken, Salad Greens with Golden Raisin Vinaigrette, Tea-Poached Eggs, Black Tea Poppy Seed Muffins, Earl Grey Tea Cake with Chopped Chocolate and Tea-Infused Cream Cheese Frosting and Roasted Yukon Potato Wedges with Aioli Sauce. The food tasted good and I appreciated the amount of thought that Chef Cindy Ramsey put into creating them. However, I was severely disappointed with the set-up of the class. I've been to 6 cooking classes at other locations and always was assigned to a specific station where each participant would make each dish and learn new cooking skills. This class was set-up where we were given a 20 minute lecture and then told to wash our hands and disperse to focus on different aspects of the meal. For instance I mixed the aioli sauce, iced the cake and teared lettuce leaves. Though we were told to wash our hands, we didn't wear gloves and this is what I believe caused my husband and I to get sick. Cons: Lack of cleanliness. During the demonstrations sometimes the chef would touch raw ingredients like eggs and chicken and would then touch other ingredients that would not be cooked. This leads to cross contamination and should have been avoided on the chefs behalf. In addition, because 10 different people peeled eggs, and various people touched ingredient components that would not be cooked I believe this also may be the cause of getting sick. As a science nerd let me share that we all have a different skin microbiome. Sometimes people carry more of one bacteria on their skin than others. Also depending on the length and cleanliness of finger nails, this also could cause unwanted bacteria on food that was prepared without being cooked. If these bacteria get into the ingredients, some people can get ill from them. Net: PLEASE HAVE ALL PARTICIPANTS WEAR GLOVES WHEN PREPARING FOOD, ESPECIALLY ITEMS THAT WILL NOT BE COOKED. I feel like the price of the class was not cheap and hopefully could cover the cost of gloves in the future. Based on this experience, I would not come here again and do not recommend it to someone who is looking for a more traditional style cooking class.
