I found Graystone through a website for venues in Columbus when I was looking for a corporate holiday party for 70-80 people. Graystone Cellars is a banquet venue in the Brewery District located in a limestone vault. (pretty cool, huh?!) They carry some local wines & their food menu looks delicious! Plenty of options from a la carte apps to dinner and apps to dinner, drinks, & apps, etc. For drinks, there are multiple options from sodas to wine/beer to wine/beer/spirits, to better spirits, you name it! Brian was responsive and the information packet he sent me had everything I would want to know (the food and drink options, venue pictures, cost, etc.). I asked if gratuity was included, and he confirmed it was added into all of the pricing. So, it was a really great option! I haven't reviewed places I haven't experienced, but we looked at quite a few venues, and I was really impressed by the quality of food and drinks, how beautiful the space was, and the price. It was the best venue option, in my opinion. So, I wanted to share! The only reason we didn't book Graystone is because one of my colleagues got too nervous about the little lead time we had & wanted something with live bar music for the younger folk, so he booked a grungy bar. The younger team wanted to karaoke (he didn't), and he knew that no one could karaoke if there was already live music & a venue available to the public, so here we are. Ha! Graystone Winery was the perfect place to have our rehearsal dinner of 50. The atmosphere was so cool the guests were amazed. The food was deleicious! We had carved beef tenderloin and Brie glazed chicken with cider roasted vegatables, green beans and roasted potatoes, along with salad and rolls. For desert they served an assortment of pumpkin cheesecake, chocolate cake and apple pie, which were all to die for!! Brian, our host, was so easy to work with! We had my daughter's wedding ceremony and reception for 65 people at Graystone Winery and had a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The owner, Brian, made the planning incredibly easy and straightforward. The venue is unique and beautiful and the food was delicious. Staff were courteous, efficient and helpful through the whole event. They've got a great thing going here and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for an event of this size or smaller. read more

We had our son's rehearsal dinner scheduled for Graystone for last Friday. Throughout the process Brian, the proprietor was so easy to work with. With the corona virus becoming more of a concern we all decided to postpone the wedding reception from Saturday and have the wedding and dinner at Graystone on Friday with a small group. It turned out to be a beautiful event in this unique intimate setting. The food was delicious! We had hors d'oeuvres spread and three entrée choices. Because of the virus, Brian was unable to get NY strip steaks and substituted Filet Mignon for no extra cost. The Pecan chicken, Shrimp Penne and dessert choices were all excellent. I had my wedding here in 2012 and could not have asked for a better location. Brian, the proprietor, is easy to work with and always responsive to emails. The food that they prepare in house is top notch. I have guests that still tell me how amazing the food was 4 years later. They serve some great wines and will bring in specialty beers for you as part of your alcohol package. Please note that this is a smaller venue. We had 50 guests at our wedding here for the ceremony and reception and it was the perfect size. A very intimate wedding and that was exactly what we were going for. read more

Wow we came here for a rehearsal dinner downstairs. What a great space! Being from Las Vegas and Cali we didn't know what to expect. This was so pretty easily could have been in Napa. No need to dress up the space it's pretty on its own. I only wish they offered black linens. Good service from staff as well. We had a carving station which was so delicious. Great venue, if you're not sure if you should pick this one I'm telling you now to pick this one! read more

We just had a reception here and we couldn't have been happier. Brian is great to work with and so accommodating. Our guests kept raving about the venue and said the food was fantastic. (Brie Chicken was a big hit). We brought in our own desserts and it worked out perfectly. The staff was efficient and polished. The one thing that sold us on this venue (aside from the uniqueness) was the EVERYTHING FOR ONE PRICE concept. No "this is an extra fee" discussions. He doesn't nickel and dime you. Tip is included so you know exactly what your event will cost you up front. No guessing like you do with other venues which made budgeting so much easier. Only draw back, is larger parties (over 100?) might be too big for the venue, but we were 84 so it was perfect. Would highly recommend checking Graystone out for your next event. read more

I will be celebrating my anniversary this month and reflected back upon my ceremony and remembering how special the day was. Greystone was a large reason for that feeling and I knew that I needed to write a review, even if ti is long overdue! We had our wedding here in 2012 and it was the best experience ever! The wedding ceremony took place on the lowest level and the reception was on the upper area. The cellar accommodated our smaller party perfectly and everyone had a great time! The food was very reasonable and delicious with lots of choices and more than enough for all. The charm of the cellar itself made our event significant and our guests were intrigued by its history. The alcohol rate was per person which made our overall bill very reasonable (as we had many alcohol consumers on our guest list). Greystone created a night to remember for us and our guests. It is a hidden gem and I can't recommend it enough to others!! read more

Brian Johnson is proprietor of this amazing venue, the perfect place for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate functions and the like. The facility is nestled in the hand-hewn limestone vaults of the 1875 Schlee Bavarian Brewery in the heart of the historic Brewery District. Here you will find an array of local wines from Wyandotte WInery (originally a sister company). The original hand-painted watercolor labels on Wyandotte's wine were created by a local artist, Bonnie Weir and depict various landmarks around Columbus, including a label created especially for Graystone, the Graystone Riesling (currently sold-out). Pricing is fair, food is great, but it's the warmth of the people and the magic of the place that keeps bringing me back! read more

Beautiful location - lots of atmosphere. Lots of promises made beforehand. On the day of the wedding (June 6, 2015), the groom and I (I'm the mother of the bride) had to reset the ceremony room as guests were arriving. The Graystone staff had promised to set it up as requested but never did. Second problem: We paid for 75 dinners. When it was time for the guests to sit down, there were only 62 place settings. It took arguing with the staff for 40 minutes to get them to set up another table (which there was plenty of room for). Third problem. Dinner was suppose to be served at 5 and was not ready until 5:45. This pushed back the dancing time so we ended up paying overtime to the DJ. Amazing from start to finish! Had our son's rehearsal dinner there and it was wonderful! We were from out of town so all arrangements were made by phone and on line - no pre-visit - and we couldn't have been happier. Loved that the price per head included all taxes and gratuities - made for very easy bookkeeping but you'll want to budget a little more for the staff as the service was excellent! Food was more than you could hope for - cooked perfectly, hot, and delicious! I would definitely recommend Graystone if you want a great venue, good service, and fabulous food! read more

We are from California and our son was getting married in Columbus this past Friday evening, June 20th. I was a bit concerned that finding the perfect place for the rehearsal dinner could become a real project. My sister suggested using Yelp as an online search source which in turn led me to the Graystone Winery and I started to communicate by email with Brian. What a pleasure it has been~~He was prompt in responding to my questions and made himself available for phone discussions (despite our 3-hour time difference). At the Rehearsal Dinner, everything was perfect. The food was delicious, the staff was incredible! Everyone complimented us on the selection of such a perfect place for this event. My daughter recently had her wedding here. This is a beautiful venue with great food. The event dinner packages are very reasonable and you can add in open bar options for only a few dollars more. They provide the linens at no extra cost. There is a sound system in house and you can use your own music or they have satellite radio available. This is really a wonderful place with historic charm in the Brewery District of Columbus, Ohio. Right next to German Village. Now, to the downside. The manager/proprietor is very rude and is not friendly at all. Well, the entire staff is not friendly. You will not get a smile out of any of them. We had complaints out of many guests about their attitudes and their downright poor customer service. We paid for an open bar with premium liquor and they didn't even have tequila available. Many guests were informed they didn't have the necessary ingredients on hand for simple drinks. They also ran out of some of the wine. They seem pretty disorganized. After the ceremony there, we were asked what time did we want dinner served. We assumed it would be ready immediately after the ceremony. Isn't this something that should have been asked weeks before the wedding? So, now we had guests waiting to eat. To kill time while now waiting for dinner, we decided to take pictures outside, only to be interrupted by the manager to inform us dinner was now ready and we needed to go in right then. After dinner we wanted to go ahead and get the cake cutting out of the way. At this point, no one had even been able to go dancing in the other room. I asked the manager if we could get the cake plates since there were none on the cake table and they are supposed to provide the cake cutting services. He informed me they would not bring them out until the bride and groom did "the traditional cake cutting". Well, the bride and groom weren't doing that, but I guess it didn't matter. I finally just told the guests to go dance since the end of the night was getting closer and no one had even danced yet. After getting everyone to go to the dance room, the manager wanted to know why everyone was going downstairs because they were serving the cake! Everyone had about 30 minutes to dance and then it was time to pack up. After leaving that night, one of my daughters and another person informed me the staff were eating our appetizers before I got there. We wondered why some things ran out before all the guests had even gotten their appetizers--now we know why. Several guests didn't receive their salads with their dinner and when telling the waitress, my daughter was informed that "we already put them up." At least 6 guests didn't attend, and their dinners were not offered to my daughter to have boxed up. $52.00 per dinner and I guess they just disappeared. This place clearly isn't popular because of their customer service or their value of the customer. The location, affordability, venue charm and food are its selling points. Such a shame. A place as nice as this should have impeccable customer service. They don't seem to value their customers at all. It seems they know that they will have the business regardless. You almost wonder if they even like dealing with the public or even appreciate your business. Based on the venue and food, this place deserves an excellent rating, but their customer service kills it. read more
